DESCRIPTION​

Rust Burner is a generalized term for a home made or heavily customized air speeder. No two look alike for a multitude of reasons. People build their air speeders from scratch and from parts that might not have even been made for air speeders. Coming from multitudes of models as well as customized to the owner's preference they often are flashy.

Essentially a 'bare minimum' air speeder, Rust Burners are designed specifically to perform on par with commercially manufactured air speeders. Being made from various random parts, Rust Burners sacrifice occupancy and amenities most people take for granted. These can be put in without hindrance to the performance but people prioritize the speed and maneuverability over things like good air conditioning or heated seats.

The reason for Rust Burners being popular is for their relative cheap cost. They are cobbled together and modified speeders that are often stolen or scavenged. They still out perform most other air speeders that could be bought by lower class citizens.

The name Rust Burner comes from the characteristic that is shared among many of them. They use out of date parts that are past their prime, hence the 'rust' part. The 'burner' part of the name comes from their speed and that they can 'burn off their rust' by flying so fast. Of course the other side of this name 'burner' comes from the fact that statistically speaking home built and heavily modified air speeders are the cause for numerous of traffic incidents and have a high injury and fatality rate. Most people who live on Nar Shaddaa have seen a few burning or smoldering Rust Burners in their time. But that doesn't stop the daring from getting their adrenaline fixes by racing them in the lower level airways.

LEGALITY​

Legal to own but illegal to drive on public skyways because Rust Burners often fail to conform to the standards of traffic safety and regulations. Many civilized worlds do not enforce this.

INTENT​

To create a general A & B air speeder that is trashy but still performing and usable for the lower level members of society. Inferior reskin to the CC3 Avian airspeeder
