DESCRIPTION​

The S8R Vector-class Probe Droid is the generalist model of Ferroprol Field Systems’ science research line. Capable of a wide variety of biological, chemical, physical, geological, and ecological survey methods, it is a favorite of field scientists, scouts, and settlers. Its heuristic processor is even equipped with a moderate level of analytical assistance, though this ability does rely on an encyclopedia that must be occasionally updated with external datalinks.

S8R contains all of the low to mid-range sensors that come standard to the class, though high-sensitivity and other specialty parts are typically found in other models. It is also fitted with additional sensor receptor ports for further customization. Standard models lack offensive, stealth, or long-range communications capabilities, though a spark projector is installed for rudimentary defense. Attaching lethal weapons to S8R’s sensor receptor ports is illegal in most Empire territories.

Because it typically works alongside other droids or personnel, it does have a baseline personality matrix that contributes to its success in layman's markets. Its bipedal, relatively compact design lends itself to more local analysis work with a higher level of detail than its planet-scanning counterparts. The oldest S8Rs are still found in multi-generational colonies, where they have been maintained as recorders and monitors for weather, pollution, and geological activity.

Legal, with the exception of some weapons upgrades. Probe droids such as the Vector are permitted in most regions of the Galaxy.
