BIOGRAPHY
The criminal underworld is full of scoundrels and rogues with pasts that put them on a trajectory to crime through no fault of their own. Their heartbreaking experiences, childhoods, and bad luck led them to an almost inevitable fate with crime.

That is not the case with Salvatore "Sal" Russo.

Russo grew up the son of a Corellian beat cop. His father served dutifully and with honor, mostly in Coronet City. During Sal's childhood, he idolized his father and wanted to follow his footsteps and fight on the right side of the law. At his earliest opportunity, he entered the academy and impressed the instructors and his fellow cadets with his natural leadership, bravery, ingenuity, and small arms fire. He graduated at the top of his class and earning a long list of awards and commendations during his time in the academy.

It did not take long for Russo to earn the respect of his peers once in the Corellian Security Force. He volunteered for all the dangerous assignments, and even though he was a rookie, the veterans started requesting Russo to be part of their strike teams. After just three years working in Coronet City, he was offered an opportunity to work undercover against organized crime outfits in Corellia, most notably in Coronet City. After six years and a number of busts against local Coronet City mob lieutenants, it was no longer safe for Russo to continue undercover in Corellia's capital city. At the age of 30 and Russo looking for the next step in his career, the Sector Rangers tried to steal Russo from CorSec. Corsec, however, made Salvatore an offer he couldn't refuse. He was offered a promotion to lead a strike team in the Skids in the city of Tyrena. For the most part, Russo's team would be given full autonomy. They were more or less given carte blanche to do whatever was necessary to clean up the rough neighborhood.

The Skids were a den of spice, prostitution, and violence. Street gangs ran different areas of the Skids, and the violence was peaking. Russo moved quickly, developing relationships and informants. It did not take for Russo to start using the information to start raiding slice dens and undercover brothels. Russo's team learned quickly that the traditional rules of law enforcement would not work and started using more aggressive means. They purposefully destroyed property, took money and arms that may have been legally obtained. No one questioned the Strike Team's actions because they were getting results, and they were able to fund the team by their confiscations.

Russo's team was removing record numbers of spice out of the Skids, but did so by cutting a deal with one of the more powerful street gangs. The way Russo saw it, if one gang controlled the Skids outright, the violence in the neighborhood would drop to record lows. Better yet, if that gang had an understanding with the Strike Team, the prostitution would be hidden in back rooms and the spice would never be pushed to kids or out in the open.

Unfortunately, Russo and his team decided which gang that would be by bidding it out to three of the largest organizations in the Skids. One of the organizations refused to bid and vowed to fight to the last. The other two gangs bid out, both lucrative, but extremely illegal deals for the Strike Team. After a four year bloodbath on the streets in the Skids, the Strike Team and the gang of their choosing became the preeminent power in the Skids.

Strike Team members were putting credits away in accounts all over the core worlds. Despite efforts to be careful, their lifestyles became more and more out of line with their salary, and a secret investigation of the Strike Team began. Russo and his team discovered this investigation was taking place, and when one investigator had sufficient evidence to put the Strike Team away, Russo killed him. As the CorSec investigation was closing in on the Strike Team for murder, including the murder of a fellow officer, fraud, spice running, prostitution, extortion, blackmail, and a long list of other serious crimes, Russo framed one of his team members, and killed him before he could turn state's evidence against him.

CorSec could not definitely prove that Russo committed murder, but secretly filed charges against Russo for many of the other crimes- most notably the spice operations, the prostitution rings, and the extortion. Again, Russo's contacts inside CorSec gave him a head's up about the charges and the plan to arrest him. Russo and the remaining Strike Team members fled not only Tyrena, but Corellia, and going their separate ways.

CorSec found discovered most of Russo's off-planet accounts, and froze his credits. Russo had a choice. He could start from scratch in the law enforcement world and try to work his way up again, or he could put all he knows to practice immediately in the underworld. With Russo's past, that wasn't a hard decision.
