CORUSCANT (coincides with the events of Spit Fire)

It was just another day for Teddy. He enjoyed his fourth favorite pastime of watching the busy traffic of Coruscant whilst eating his favorite ice cream Preef Trax, the second variant of ice cream based on the famous gunslinger. He'd even finished sending JJ Johnson another crayon drawn death threat.. such a perfect day. Him and Captain Swansby had just returned from another profitable trip to Onderon and he was now consuming the fruits of that hard earned labor.

Seated high above the streets, his legs kicking back and forth while his tail flicked off to the side, this was the life. Unbeknownst to him, The Garrison would catch his eye. It was a pretty cool ship and as he watched, he'd munch on the cone in his left hand. Licks were for cowards, but Teddy? Teddy was a conqueror. He would consistently try to top his score of two minutes per cone, but every time he hit that dreaded fifth munch: his head hurt. He wasn't sure why, but he could tell that it wasn't good.

Finishing that left cone as his eyes focused on The Garrison, he'd begin to lick the cone and ice cream residue off of his hand. And that singular moment would perhaps be the last good one he knew for awhile. Suddenly, the Garrison would attack another ship, and ram it into the surface. The quake caused by the impact would shake Teddy's perch, causing the perfect scoops of Preef Trax on that right cone to plummet to the street bellow. Eyes wide at his loss and despair on the rise, he would let out a "roar" of pain.

His mistake, the sudden movements would cause the cub to slip from his perch and land into the backseat of a speeder. Chaos would be everywhere as the various drivers began to react to the attack. His arrival, would only make things worse. Already jumpy, the driver turned, reaching for a blaster "Why, you, crook!" The drivers mistake. His speeder would collide with a police speeder heading towards the scene, taking both speeders to the ground.

"Captain!!!" Teddy cried out frightened beyond all belief as the world around him went slow motion. Was Coruscant getting attacked? All around, speeders were getting into accidents and he could hear blaster fire. In the distance, he could hear the sirens of more police. Buckling himself in, because safety first, the small Togorian would nearly be thrown from the speeder on impact, save for his trusty belt. The cop and the driver of the speeder he was in on the other hand, were not so lucky.

Everything hurt when those little eyes opened and when he went to unclip the belt, it was stuck! There was a momentary fear until those primal instincts kicked in. Literal tiger teeth would gnaw into the belt and rip it to shreds, allowing the kid to roll away from the wreckage.

Reiel was having a headache.

As much as she didn't like traveling to the Core Worlds – Coruscant, mainly – the Mandalorian couldn't exactly say no to one of her buir's contacts when they called in for a job. "Skips", a male Mikkian, had been amiable enough and Buir had assured her that the she could trust the guy with her life. And while she trusted her father in return, Reiel still couldn't help any and every disgruntled groan that slipped past her lips whenever she remembered the contact's failed attempts at flirting with her whenever he could.

What was more annoying was that the acquisition nearly escaped when Skips thought that flirting with her was more important than securing the bounty after they had been handed over by Reiel.

Idiots, the lot of them. Maybe she should've just stuck both in carbonite. See what that would do to them.

While she had found it more freeing walking down the streets of Corellia sometime ago, Coruscant had been nothing but a nightmare. Reiel had to fashion herself a makeshift hooded cloak to cover her beskar'gam to avoid prying eyes and suspicious local cops. Well, the cloak served to make her even more suspicious, but what was one local cop to do when confronted with the fact that she was wearing religious clothing and thus couldn't be removed? They respected sentients of all culture here at the Core, right? Reiel didn't want to come off as someone who could harrass people just so she could, but it intimidating the poor cop had been necessary so they would stop questioning her about her get-up.

Stars, her head was throbbing.

Not wanting to get into any more trouble, Reiel turned away from whatever commotion that was happening a few meters away from her, as well as above (kriffing ships could crash wherever the hell they pleased as long as she could freely get away from them) and turned away dismissively. She was annoyed, exhausted, suffered through unjust questioning when she hadn't done anything wrong (well, not really), and all she wanted to do was to get back to the spaceport to hitch a ride offworld–

–except her body started moving on it's own accord, breaking off into a run towards the crashed speeder.

Kark it all to high hell. Why did those kriffing villagers raise her to be a helpful little–!

Reiel had never seen a Togorian before. She'd only heard about them from her buir, her ba'buir, and two other older Mandos from her clan that she considered herself to be close enough with to call them her ba'vodue. Carefully, she approached the poor guy, showing her hands so as not to alarm him (or her?) as she slowly crossed the distance between them.

"Hey, buddy. You okay? Can you... Can you get up?" she would ask as calmly as she could. Reiel had seen those teeth tear through the seatbelt like karking soft fabric – there's no way she'd make the Togorian think of her as a threat. Beskar was nigh invulnerable, yes, but her flesh was not.

She didn't want to get her neck torn to shreds by those teeth, no thanks.

Teddy had begun to crawl away from the smoking wreckage of the speeder, his heart beating a thousand miles an hour. Poor little guy looked half panicked as his eyes darted all around. With a look up, he could see cops starting to form a perimeter around the wreckage of the two ships. Help!

That's when he heard a female voice. On looks, he had some blood matting his fur and when he tried to rise to his feet, his left foot buckled. Collapsing and in near tears now from fear he tried to scoot along. She seemed nice, but Captain had told him about 'Stranger Danger'. The cops would surely help him. Poor little guy, in order to avoid the nice stranger, he was seemingly headed to the small warzone.

She understood well enough the Togorian's fear and caution in his (yeah, she'd assume that the poor guy's a dude unless corrected) eyes, and Reiel knew that she had to be patient. There was blood on his fur but she couldn't say if it was his – a closer inspection had to be done but only if he'd let her approach. The way his left foot buckled didn't look so good, more so when he finally collapsed. From her position – still a few steps away to give him space – Reiel could see the tears forming.

"Hey, it's alright," the Mandalorian assured him, contemplating on taking a step back so as not to further scoop him. The Togorian had other ideas, it seemed, and in his disoriented state had considered her a threat. She wouldn't blame him, not when she was practically covered up with a hooded cloak save for her helmet's facade. Maker, she must've looked menacing to him. "I'm here to help you, I swear. Please, calm down–"

And then he began scooting away from her, towards even more trouble than Reiel had expected, and she couldn't help a muttered curse from slipping past her lips.

A piece of metal – she'd missed where it came from, being too focused on the injured dude – went flying towards the Togorian, and the small Mandalorian reacted on instinct. She dashed towards him, crouching before him and covering him with her armored body as much as she could. The stray piece bounced harmlessly against her backplate, but the metal's sharp edges had managed to put a tear on the fabric.

Gloved hands would find trembling shoulders, and Reiel gave him a gentle squeeze to capture his attention and hopefully give him something else to focus other than the chaos now erupting around them.

"Buddy, hey. I'm just trying to help you. Can you get up? It's chaos up there... wouldn't want you to get hurt even more, huh?"

Patience. Yep, she could do that – be patient. All she had to do was to ignore her growing headache from her earlier stresses. Piece of cake.

Even grabbing his shoulders, she could feel the heartbeat from this kids panic, not only that, he was shaking too. Badly. The ears perked at the ding of metal on metal, but he didn't seem to realize. Although whether it was something by her tone or her gentleness, the young Togorian felt like he could trust her. "I-I- tried.. I-it hurted." Somehow, by the gods, young Teddy was clutching cone in a death grip in his right hand.

"Wh-whats happenin'?" his eyes darted all around as he saw all the violence. They could hear the chorus of blaster fire coming from the ship as well as the arrival of more Rangers. And since they were on the mid levels of the planet, with the arrival of the cops, other gangs were coming out to play. Overhead, a blacked out egg would be dragging a criminal and taking him for a ride as it engaged other gang swoop bikes.

He was trembling, panicking, and Reiel understood where he was coming from. The Togorian had just been in a speeder crash and had to literally bite his way out of the wreckage. She patted his shoulders gently, gloved fingers carding through grey fur with great care.

He spoke, and the small Mandalorian blinked at the sound of his voice and his speech. It was a dead giveaway to his age, more so the cone clutched tightly in one hand (paw?).

A kid. She had just approached a kid, saved him from being impaled by a piece of metal, and was now trying to comfort him in the middle of the beginnings of a literal warzone between Sector Rangers and gangs.

A kid.

Reiel was too preoccupied with gazing at the Togorian with wide-eyed shock to even notice the Rangers' arrival. This poor guy's a kid? He's– He's as tall as her if her estimation was correct!

She had never seen a Togorian before. If this little (she snorted at the adjective) guy was still an ankle biter, then how tall would he be when he reached adulthood?

The small Mandalorian softly shushed him, one of her hands moving to give the Togorian a scratch behind one furry ear. Carefully, she would help him get up on his feet, mindful of the limp she saw earlier.

"Some ship crashing... and now we're almost in the middle of a parody of a turf war," she replied. Maker, the headache was here to party now. "Honestly speaking, though? I don't care anymore. Except for you. You're a kid in a literal warzone, and there's no way I'm leaving you behind."

Granted he wasn't her responsibility, but like she said she would not leave someone in trouble when she was in the position to help. Taking her blaster out, Reiel readied herself to fight their way to safety should push become a shove – aimed at the gangs, of course. There's no way in hell she'd engage against Sector Rangers. She'd been acquainted with one, and hadn't she promised Ranger Arah Tizun that she would only have quarrel with criminals and not the keepers of the law?

"C'mon, buddy, we have to get out of here," she told the Togorian, trying to be reassuring. Maker, she wasn't good with kids but she'd try. "Got a name, little one? Can't keep calling you 'buddy' forever now, right?"

His ear would twitch as she scratched behind it and his head snapped away from her "Hey.. What do ya think yer doing, huh?" He wouldn't try to dart away as she helped him stand, but the youngster stood at just about a foot shorter than her. "Ya can't just start petting people, am I doin that to ya?" If there was one thing he clung to, it was Captain Hawksby's word that he wasn't a pet and to let no one treat him like one. He hadn't known what he meant, but suddenly it became real.

"I'm Te-" there would be a pause as if he considered to tell her or not. "You can call me Teradius Rayneshade." he'd say. It was a amalgamation of two of his favorite comic book heroes names and he felt awfully clever having thought of something so.. sophisticated. "What uh... what do I call you?" as he spoke, he'd pull on a single glove then those feline eyes would scan the ground.

The hand scratching behind his ear stopped at the twitch and pulled away just in time as the Togorian moved his head away from the touch. One eyebrow raised, Reiel blinked at the reprimand but at least he wasn't trying to pull himself away from her. Now up on their feet, the Mandalorian almost let out a sigh of relief to find that the kid was actually shorter than her. She was quietly glad for her incorrect estimation.

She patted his arm gingerly, tone apologetic when she clarified, "Not petting you, buddy. Just trying to comfort you, really. You looked really shaken earlier."

And it was the truth. For someone so young, Reiel appreciated the fact that whoever the Togorian's parents (or caretaker) were they taught him well. She'd seen other sentients treat beings of another species as if the latter were beneath them, and the small Mandalorian had the displeasure of witnessing witnessing some people treat another as pets. The little guy's annoyance was justified, and Reiel wished to rectify her mistake.

"I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, bud," she told the little guy as she began to lead him away from the pandemonium around them. Blaster fire was flying around, and she tried to cover the Togorian with her body as much as she could.

At least she was armored enough for the two of them. And the kid seemed feisty enough, snapping at a Mandalorian like he just did. It would've annoyed her in any other circumstance, but reprimanding a heavily armored warrior in the middle of a mini warzone?

How cute. But she wouldn't say that out loud. Wouldn't wanna offend the owner of rows of sharp fangs and teeth with them so close to her neck.

The pause in his introduction was so blatant, Reiel had to bite back an amused laugh that threatened to spill past her lips. She decided to humor him, firing a shot at a gangster that was idiotic enough to try and jump them.

"Hail and well met, Teradius Rayneshade." Wow, that was a mouthful. "Well, for starter, you may call me Mandalorian. Mando, for short."

A speeder whizzed past them, one of it's passengers screaming profanities at a Ranger chasing after them on foot. Reiel aimed at the driver and went for a headshot, sending the sentient slumping on the controls and the speeder crashing on a building. "I didn't mean that!" she yelled at said Ranger before picking up speed, leading "Teradius Rayneshade" further away. She caught sight of an unmanned speederbike and changed direction, now headed for the vehicle.

"You can also call me Tin Can, for laughs," she continued. Then, done with teasing, she decided to give him a proper name. "I'm Mal, by the way."

Well, it was her name. Just the second one.

As the pair turned a corner, there would be another member of a game, blaster flicking to Reiel, this time, "Teradius" would reactionarily swat the guy with his hand, claws doing some damage and the strength of the young Togorian slamming him against the wall. Stunned, the gangster would slide to the ground, unconscious.

"Take that villain!" the young cub would roar in triumph, his fear now replaced by his new identity. It was hero time, at least until they made it to safety.

Once they were clear out of that alley, he flicked his gaze to her. "Mal? That sounds like a boy name." His manners weren't a permanent thing, oftentimes he just spoke what he thought. This, was such a time. And hopefully the confusion in his voice would make the remark sting much less with his protector.

Someone – something, rather – beat Reiel and Teradius to the speeder bike, and the Mandalorian couldn't help the mournful groan that escaped her.

A debris from one of the ships dropped on the speeder bike, and while the vehicle didn't explode or go up in flames, it was now rendered useless and reduced to scrap. Reiel clenched her jaw at the sight, mind screaming an overly dramatic "No!" as she turned away from the speeder bike and headed out of the alleway instead. Hopefully they would be met with less to zero chaos this time around.

It was such a gorgeous speeder bike, and now it's gone...

Anger rising at the sudden turn of events, Reiel would've shot the gang member who pulled a blaster at her but the young Teradius beat her to it. Clawed hand swatting the bastard, drawing blood, and sending the sentient flying against a wall. The Mandalorian blinked, absorbing what she had just witnessed, her blaster now aimed at empty air. Her helmeted head shifted slowly from the unconscious gangster then to the kid, eyes growing wide in amazement at the young Togorian's show of strength.

"That. Is so. Awesome, Teradius!" Reiel exclaimed, voice brimming with excitement. A young Togorian was this strong, capable of sending another being flying with a single swipe of their clawed hands? What could– What damage could those same hands do when he's grown up?

Kriff. To think that this child was possibly – highly likely – physically stronger than her... kriffing hells, that was so cool.

She continued to support him as they made their way out of the alley. Blaster still raised cautiously, Reiel adjusted her hold on Teradius before pushing forward. The sounds of screaming and gunfight echoed faintly behind them, and the Mandalorian opted to ignore them and focused on the kid instead.

Reiel chuckled at his musings, helmeted head titled to the side in amusement as she looked at him. The blatant confusion in his voice did not offend her, and the Mandalorian could understand his bewilderment.

"It does sound like a boy's name," she agreed, chuckling. "Would've asked my parents why they named me as such if only they're still around."

With threats to their safety visibly low in the new area they found themselves in, Reiel voiced out a concern she ought to be thinking about at the first sight of the young Togorian in the midst of a mini-warzone.

"Why were you in the middle of a combat zone anyway, ad'ika? Did you get separated from your parents? Or guardian, perhaps?"

Who knew his parents (or guardian) might be worried sick about him. And as much as Reiel felt apprehension about the situation, it was her responsibility to take him back to his family. It was, after all, the Way.

Teddy would puff up a bit at his new friends praise. "Was easy, I got the power of truthiness on my side. Justice, too. Mgm, yup." The young Togorian could feel his tail flick from side to side in happiness.

He would then seem pleased at her acceptance of his name origin comment. Though the real response would leave him saddened. "Yeah.. Captain Hawksby said that my parents are at the farm, whatever that means. Pretty sure they ain't coming back though."

Tucked away in their new safety hole, he would consider her question. "Well, I was waaayyyy up there." He said pointing back the way they came. "Then that ship crashed and I fell, onto another ship that crashed." A thought would occur to him and shock would ravage his features. "Oh no.. am I bad luck?!"

"Ah, an advocate of justice! It suits you well."

She saw the Togorian's tail flicking, and the happiness and pride in his voice made Reiel's smile broaden. He was such a cute kid, and the Mandalorian was starting to feel angry again at the memory of the little guy looking scared and trapped in a combat zone. She understood that the Sector Rangers present were busy doing their jobs, suppressing and arresting gang members and all as well as responding to the problem caused by the crashed ships, but the fact that they overlooked a child who needed help grated on her nerves.

Teradius was lucky that Reiel had been present during the whole ordeal. And while the kid could defend himself with the strength he displayed earlier, he was still a child and thus needed to be rescued and taken away from such chaos all around him.

The two came to a stop once they were at a considerable distance from the mini warzone, and Reiel allowed herself to heave a sigh of relief.

Her helmeted head tipped to the side when the kid began to speak. Ah, so he was an orphan? Reiel felt sad for the kid and patted him on the shoulder.

"I'm sorry, ad'ika," she offered quietly. Sympathetic, not pitiful. Well, at least it appeared that he was now under a guardian's care. She had to make sure, though. "Captain Hawksby? Are they looking after you now?"

At his tale and shocked question, the small Mandalorian let out an amused chuckle and shook her head. "No, little one, you're not bad luck – I think you just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. If anything, I think you're a lucky kid."

And he was.

She let him go and stepped in front of him, assessing him for any other injuries. The blood on his fur concerned her, but the limp seemed to be not as bad as she initially thought. Only one way to find out, though.

"Teradius– can I call you Teddy, for short? I gotta check if you're hurt more than I expect, buddy. Is that okay?"

Across the street was a decent-looking hotel, and her immediate thought was to get the kid somewhere comfortable. Then, remembering that she had a companion on this particular trip.

Contacting Srucayr would have to be discreet. Reiel had no idea if her presence – more so the armor she wore – caught any unwanted attention. So, she sent her fellow Mandalorian a message in dadita, detailing her current location to him so he could easily find her.

Also checking in on a hotel to keep my little companion out of trouble. Place is called The Peninsula, Reiel added.

And who knew, maybe he'd like the current company she was with. Maybe Srucayr had seen a Togorian before? Only one way to find out, and so she began to lead Tedarius towards the hotel.

I noticed the attack. Already trying to find you, Rei'ika. Streets are loaded with vermin and cops alike. Be there as soon as I can. Would come the response from Srucayr. As she finished the second part of her message, there would be the slight shufflling of boots.

Teddy's ears perked but before he could speak a stun ring would hit him and the young boy would seize up and drop, out like a light. That's when Reiel would really feel pain. She would be lifted upwards from behind, before being slammed roughly down, a boot stomping her helm on impact. There were maybe six or seven of them and they were working the young woman over. They knew precisely what was or wasn't covered by armor, with one of the stomps focused on an awkwardly positioned right elbow to break the limb. What would maybe have lasted less than two minutes would feel much longer as her mind was flushed out by her pain receptors. Voices would grow distorted and when it was over with, her eyes would struggle to remain opened, and her body seemed four times heavier.

"Take the boy.. This one.. this could provide prolonged fun, torment." a cane would stop just an inch from her helm before a man clad in black armor knelt down, just out of view.

"Why don't we just kill her boss? She was one of the ones on the Dust Ball." The Nagai asked his boss.

"You lack creativity and the understanding of my people. Killing them is far too.. easy. You destroy them, by squeezing the life from their soul. Shatter their confidence, their state of being." Rising back to his feet, the cane would tap on various parts of her beskar, listening to sound of the impact. "Hmm.. Hand me the vambrace, right arm, she won't have need for it for awhile."

One of the Nagai would jump to do his bidding, pulling it free and damaging the arm even more. "Got it, Boss."

The man in black would push her left vambrace over, smiling beneath his helm "Dadita.. we should leave, she'll have a friend coming."

The pack of Nagai would head one way, the man in black, accompanied by another Nagai carrying Teddy, heading the other.

Ten minutes later...
Srucayr would find himself turning down the side street, his beskar covered in blood from the various criminals he had to butcher to get to where he was."Rei'ika!" he'd shout out, looking around. He had been coming from the hotel, having arrived at the Peninsula first, only to find that she wasn't there. There was a slight worry to his voice as he searched the neighboring streets and that's when he saw it. Familiar beskar looking broken in the street and his heart immediately sank. That despair was immediately replaced by fiery anger as he noticed some spice heads circling like vultures as they inspected her valuables from afar.

Heavy beskar found its way at her side, one hand wrapped tightly around the throat of one junkie while the other slid his blade free and tapped it against the chest of another. "I'd run along now, if I were you." He felt their fear and the gauntlet released on the throat in preparation for the dart.

The spiceheads would look to each other before scattering like the winds, screaming in panic. Guess their trip just entered bad territory.

Sru would kneel besides, Rei, inspecting her damaged arm with one hand while the other rested on the cheek of her helm. "Rei'ika.." friendly tap on the cheek of the helm. "Rei, c'mon little one.." the hand on her helm would drift to check for a pulse. There was a sigh of relief as he found it, though his visor scanned for any clue as to who had done this to her.

Relief washed over the small Mandalorian upon receiving Srucayr's reply. He was on his way now... great. That left her with treating whatever injury young Teddy had accumulated and also getting something for her headache as well.

"Alright, Teddy, let's check in on that hotel and get you some rest. I also have to take a look at your leg–"

The flash of stun ring and Teddy falling to the ground had Reiel turning to face their assailant, one of her hands flying to her blaster but whoever their attacker were? They were fast and managed to completely caught the Mandalorian unawares. Her feet left the ground and before she knew it someone was already slamming her back down the ground. Hard. She tried to haul herself up but a foot stomping against her helmet rattled her skull, followed by booted feet targeting parts of her body unprotected by her beskar'gam.

Reiel gritted her teeth and endured the pain, moving her right arm to pull out her blaster. It was a wrong move on her part because the moment she moved, one booted foot made contact with her elbow.

Something snapped – or cracked? – and a strangled, pained scream tore through Reiel's throat. She was no stranger to having broken bones, but this... this pain felt too visceral, as if every nerve in her body would register one thing only and that. Was. Pain.

She struggled against the boot pressing on her helmet to keep her in place but to no avail. Head pounding, body feeling heavy and pain lancing through her even with minute movement, Reiel saw one of her assailants picking something with grey fur from the ground. Malevolent laughter filled her ears as the thugs continued with their assault. Through the haze of pain that muddled her thoughts, a singular voice seared itself into her mind.

They were speaking through a helmet. She didn't know who they were or what they wanted from her or Teddy, but the way this supposed "Boss" spoke gave Reiel the idea that they knew how to deal with Mandalorians. She might be in a literal world of pain at the moment, but she focused on that modulated voice, remembering whoever this sentient was and promising herself that she would hunt them down even to the ends of the galaxy.

Something tapped against her armor, as if inspecting for something. It stopped on her right vambrace and before she could react, someone wrenched the vambrace off of her arm rather brusquely, jarring the broken bone and eliciting another pained sound from the fallen Mandalorian. Her left arm was jostled, and the same modulated voice spoke again.

They knew dadita?

Only Mandalorians knew about the coded message–

Reiel's blood ran cold at the thought. Did... Did another Mandalorian spearhead this assault? Were they the owner of that modulated voice?

The pressure on her helmet disappeared and yet the small Mandalorian could not feel relief nor reprieve. She fought through the pain to look where she last saw Teddy, only to find that he wasn't there. The voice... didn't they say that they would take the kid?

Kriffing– kark it all to high hells. The kid relied on her to take him to safety, had trusted to come with her when she led him away from the fighting and wreckage. And what did she do to repay that trust?

Gotten poor Teddy taken to shrak knew where, that's what.

The physical pain seemed nothing against her shattered pride. She was a Mandalorian, trained to be one of the best warriors in the galaxy by the best Mando she had ever met, and yet here she was. Gotten herself jumped and beaten senseless by some dishonorable crooks who would kidnap a child for their entertainment.

Tears of anger and shame blurred her already hazy vision. Driven by her own rage, Reiel shuffled to haul herself up on her feet. Momentarily forgetting her broken arm, she moved it and was rewarded by another sickening snap, the limb hanging uselessly as the ground rushed back up to meet her helmeted head.

Beskar clanged against the pavement, and Reiel knew no more.

She did not know how much time had passed until she heard a familiar voice threatening someone.

Struggling to open her eyes, Reiel's gaze found a familiar set of ancient armor looming over her. For one wild moment fear gripped her heart, body tensing in anticipation of a pain that never came when a gloved hand found the side of her helmet.

Rei'ika. Only one person called her that.

In a broken voice, she rasped out a name, her breath shuddering as her lungs struggled to take in oxygen.

"S-Srucayr..."

She failed to keep Teddy safe. What would this Captain Hawksby he told her about would say when they found out that a Mandalorian failed to protect their kid?

Shame filled her and, like a child, Reiel began to cry in earnest.

"O-Ori'vod... it– it hurts... everything d-d-does..." she whimpered, body wracked with broken sobs. "I can't– I can't m-move my– my arm... h-help, please..."

More relief would wash over Srucayr as she spoke her name. "Easy now, little one. Save your strength. I'll get you out of here." His gaze shifted to her unarmed forearm. Odd. The spicers didn't have it, which meant her attackers likely took it as a trophy. He would rip some of his gambeson free, followed by removing his warpick. He would set the pick on one side of her injured limb, cushioning it with the gambeson before tying it in place tightly. "Calm your mind, focus on something other than the pain." he said gently.

That's when he really tugged hard on the makeshift splint. Once in place, both arms slipped under Reiel "Come little one. Let's get off the street. I'll find you a real doctor and then we'll leave this cursed world." He'd rise to his feet with a grunt, hoisting her into a bridal carry before turning for back down the way he came. He would carry his injured kin to the doorway and once inside he looked to the person beside the counter. "Give me a whole floor. Clear it out."

The human would nod, not willing to question such a heavily armed man. "Sure thing, right this way!" he grabbed a stack of room keys and shuffled off with the War Priest following behind.

Once they reached their destination, the worker would open the door, where Sru carried her inside and set her down on the bed. Making his way back to the door, he'd hand the man a pouch of creds. "For your discretion, the rooms, and every bit of medical supplies you have. Now go get them."

"Yes sir!" the man would yelp before retreating away, a much wealthier man.

Under normal circumstances, Reiel would've called herself pathetic for crying just because she got beaten up. But her pride was involved, and with it her failure in keeping one kid safe from being abducted. So she cried, pain and humiliation the only thoughts that filled her mind as Srucayr spoke reassurances to her.

Despite his advice and the gentleness in his voice, the younger Mandalorian couldn't think of anything else. Half-delirious with overwhelming pain and a mix of distress and confusion in her mind (who did this, who took Teddy, it was another Mandalorian, it had to be, I am certain) Reiel tried to shake her helmeted head, tried but failed to inch away from Srucayr when she felt something against her broken arm.

"N-No... no, no, no, I can't, p-please, nnnn–" she pleaded, her words ending with a short keening gasp that got cut off halfway with a strangled, pained hitch in her breath. Momentarily blacking out from the pain, it was the sudden feeling of weightlessness and being jostled a little that brought Reiel back into consciousness. Her helmeted head dropped against Srucayr's pauldron, her breathing coming out ragged with each step he took.

Her armor might have withstood the impact of booted feet stomping with as much force as they could but the body underneath the beskar was not indestructible. Reiel wouldn't be surprised if she sustained a broken rib or two (please don't let there be internal bleeding or else Buir would have my hide) from the assault alongside her injured arm.

At least it wasn't her neck – something to be thankful for, right?

She drifted in and out of consciousness, completely missing Srucayr's arrival on the hotel and his subsequent demands to an employee. Tears still streamed down Reiel's face but she had lost all energy to make a sound nor utter a word. She just laid there in her kin's arms, a single pained choking sound escaping her when he set her down on a bed.

Surrendering herself completely to his care, Reiel could only stare at the ceiling with a blank look on her face, tears on her face and blood in her mouth.

Once the door was shut and locked, only then, would Srucayr move the young womans helmet, allowing her hair to cover her face in an attempt to save some of her pride for her. He was no stranger to what she was experiencing and knew that the arm would likely heal far sooner than her pride. Her self-esteem. Srucayr was a fine-tuned tool for killing and his knowledge of such medical practices were limited. With what he did know, however, he would only be able to re-set the arm but that would mean nothing without a professional.

He would spend the earliest moments, first wiping away her tears and then dealing with the blood in her mouth. She was so dead and it was hard for him to see. The young Mandalorian was a ball of light, a beacon for the future of his kind. And here she was, laid low. They could have killed her, but they didn't. They wanted her like this.

Pacing the room, he would make several calls. All people he had aided in the Coruscant underlevels and like a message from Kad himself, one of the relatives of the trafficked women he saved happened to run a clinic on the lower levels. For the first time since he found Reiel in the street a smile crept onto his face. "Kad hasn't led us wrong, yet.." his gaze would drift back to the injured Mandalorian and he would lower himself down into a chair beside the bed. "Good news. A doctor will be here shortly to give you a look over. You can keep the helmet on while they're here.. but I would strongly recommend letting them inspect your head for damage."

He would then lean forward in the chair, hand moving to rest on hers. "I have contacts looking for the boy.. We need to get you on the mend." They should never have split up on the planet. This was as much his fault as it was the cowards that jumped her. There was nowhere in the galaxy they could hide, not for forever, at least.

He would get lost in his thoughts, for a time, hand still resting on hers, drawn only from his reverie by a knock at the door. Rising to his feet, he would grab Reiel's helm and sit her up just enough to put it back on. Moving to the door, he had his dagger in-hand as he checked the peephole. Seeing who stood on the other side of it, he sheathed the weapon then opened the door. "Doctor, you have my thanks."
