DESCRIPTION
The scatter gun is a low-velocity slugthrower that fires a spray of solid pellets when fired. It can often hit multiple targets or eliminate one target with a single blast. However, its damage decreased as range to the target increased, since the pellets scatter if fired from too far away; this makes the weapon more suited for close-quarters combat. Past 45 meters, they are completely useless, and still do minimal damage up to 25 meters.

The scatter gun is common on backwater worlds where slugthrowers are still the predominant weapon of choice. The gun is cheap and so is its ammunition; 10 shells each cost 2 credits and weighed 0.1 kilograms. Its low manufacturing cost and utility as a hunting weapon helped maintain its popularity. Mercenaries, marines, and other soldiers sometimes carry a scatter gun as a backup weapon.

When slugs hit are deflected by a lightsaber, they simply melt and dissipate.

Such slugthrowers, though not as advanced as they are now, were used by Mandalorians to fight against jedi. Blaster bolts were soon found to be mere target practice for force wielders, so the Mandalorian people resorted to slugthrowers.

LEGALITY
Restricted. They require extensive licensing and on most planets are completely banned anyways. On the other hand, they are hard to identify and appear as normal blasters, so they could be concealed with relative ease.

INTENT
To create a short range slugthrower similar to a shotgun; to create a non-melee close combat powerful weapon.

RESTRICTIONS
Cannot be used in PvP.

So I had my eye on this when I saw it in your workshop. Historically scatter weapons on the site have always been a bit of a dangerous area simply for the "I can hit you up to my pellet count times in one shot" clashing with armour rules, but also because of the perceived anti-saber user intent behind their use, which has alwasy been frowned upon.

Now that may be less of an issue in this time line that has less of a pvp focus and people may be less likely to attempt to game things, but for certain your description of slugs simply isn't how solid projectiles function in the tech rules.

All ranged weapon projectiles/beams/bolts must be capable of being either blocked/dissipated or deflected by lightsabers.
This means that solid slugs are effectively vaporised rather than liquefied when they are blocked by a lightsaber, and would not continue on to deal damage.

A force sensitive saber wielder can appear to be an unstoppable juggernaut, but tech solutions are not the answer. You have to out play and out think them, much like how the Mandalorians lost the war with the Jedi, tech tricks or "loopholes" do not win the day.

It's also worth noting that under the tech rules soild slugs do light damage.

Removed whole lightsaber thing; also restrained so that it cannot be used in PvP.
As to the damage, I was thinking with 50+ light slugs I could classify it as heavy damage.

As we already have a scatterblaster on the site, I'm not sure why this is needed. While, yes, these weapons do exist in canon, it is different enough from the way we have established slugthrowers work in this setting that it would be disruptive to have it.
