Welcome to
SCIENTIFIC GALACTICA

A blue-toned, male Twi'lek comes into view on the screen following the opening credits. He is dressed in slacks and button up shirt with his sleeves rolled up. Behind him the show title is outlined in white bold letters on a backdrop of swirling stars.

"Hello and welcome back to another exciting season of Scientific Galactica, where we bring you the latest in scientific and technological research and discovery. I am Rooc Marsh and tonight we look at the limitlessness of space, and hyperspace travel. New and exciting discoveries may be soon available, leading to revolutionary, safer, faster travel across the galaxy. Tonight, reporter, Dana Antilles, meets with one of the leading minds in hyperspace travel: Anat Asteria. Dana and Anat discuss the current findings at her lab, Asteria Industries and what it could mean for trillions who traverse the galaxy."

The screen cuts to a round-faced human woman. She has short dark hair, fair skin, and dressed in a business professional attire. Dana sits across from a red-haired woman also dressed professionally. The red hair woman adjusts her blue framed, large rimmed glasses and appears to be in causal conversation with Dana before the start of the interview.

Dana Antilles (DA): Welcome, welcome, Anat, thank you for taking the time today to talk about your work.

Anat Asteria (AA): You're welcome, I'm excited to be here.

DA: So, your work is being published in the prestigious journal, Nature.

AA: Yes! It will be released in the fourth quarter-

DA: And, its about what is described as Hypergates?

AA: Yes, hypergates.

DA: Fill me in, I don't think I ever heard of them.

AA: Many people haven't, and its not something entirely new, they were once around tens of thousands of years ago, specific to the ancient civilization of the Gree. We never had a written understanding of their technology, specifically the hypergates, but they surpass anything we have currently in space-faring technology.

DA: Fascinating, how does something so advanced get lost like that?

AA: No one really knows, they may not have valued oral traditions or record keeping, leaving them to eventually die out and their technology.

DA: Until now, you have revived it.

AA: I have revived it.

The interview cuts to the woman walking down the bright halls of Asteria Industries lab location. Additional images of scientists are seen assembling together pieces of a hypergate. The interview picks up in the lab, the women wearing protective goggles and other gear while in the lab.

DA: So these are not the original ones, you and your team have re-engineered and assembled your own?

AA: That is correct. The originals are still scattered throughout the galaxy, they can be reactivated, but many lay in disrepair. What is nice is that we are able to create our own and assemble them on just about any world we want.

DA: However, I heard you can't just jump to anywhere you want.

AA: [laughing] Unfortunately we cannot, the limitations of physics leaves us at the mercy of specific portal points while on the surface of planets. But its different for space.

DA: What is the difference.

AA: Less limitations.

The interview cuts to the two on a freighter with a crew belonging to Asteria Industries.

DA: So, I'm a bit nervous and excited at the same time. Tell me how does this even work?

AA: Luckily we'll have two point jump so in most cases, the hypergate is one-way travel, but if you set up two, it opens up a portal to allow one to cut through space within seconds.

DA: [Speechless] How? That is so fascinating!

AA: We often forget that space is just not three-dimensional, there are multiple dimensions, but its difficult to access or think about it with our current technologies. This technology allows us to search for those bends in space that lead to an express form of travel from system to system.

DA: Wow, just wow, okay, I think everyone will want to see how this works.

Anat gets to work with her crew, the hypergate several kilometers away is activated; a faint shimmer can be seen as it reflects the light from the nearest star. Anat continues to work while Dana narrates what she is observing.

DA: This will take us from your headquarters on Ukio to Sluis Van. We can see the hypergate activated and now Anat and the crew are taking us closer to the gate. According to Anat, there is no need to activate any hyperspace engines, we'll be moving a sublight just as though we were riding a speeder through a tunnel. [A countdown begins in the background] They are counting down until we cross the threshold, everyone is so calm, I and my holo-cam guy are so nervous, but I am too excited to not look away.

The holo-cam focuses on the viewport as they approach closer, eventually the countdown is null and it looks for a moment if the stars extend like they were going to jump. However, it then stops, there is another system before them.

AA: Welcome to Sluis Van.

DA: [The reporter looks directly into the holo-cam before looking at Anat, hands on her own cheeks in disbelief] I admit, I am speechless. This is amazing, how... will, when will this be available for everyone? This can change how we transport-

AA: [Quickly gives orders to return to Ukio] Essential supplies much quicker to worlds in need.

DA: Exactly, Ms. Asteria, you have certainly created something extraordinary. And now we're returning to Ukio.

AA: Not created, just unlocked, there is much we can learn from history, even with technology. Many of our theories come from basic ideas that don't even have a creation date. This is just one and I hope I can inspire others to follow a similar path in discovery.

The interview cuts back to the blue Twi'lek reporter, finishing the segment.

"Just astonishing and inspiring! So many exciting things lay ahead, stay tuned and we'll look at the only place in the galaxy that harvests these fruits and how they keep them from facing extinction."

The holo-net broadcast cuts to commercial.
