DESCRIPTION
The Scorpenek annihilator droid is a super-heavy battle droid which was designed and first manufactured by the Colicoid Creation Nest during the later part of the Clone Wars. Widely regarded as one of the most powerful ground combat automata ever built, they were originally slated for use by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which placed large orders for the type; unfortunately for the CIS, only small batches had been delivered and fielded before the war's end, preventing the Scorpenek from having a meaningful impact on the outcome.

The Scorpenek is a beast of a droid, similar in concept to the Droideka, but larger, better protected and more heavily armed. The droid stands some 3 and a half meters in height, walking on 4 legs, with a pair of double-barrel repeating laser cannons as its main armament. For protection, the Scorpenek is equipped with a Droideka-style energy shield, capable of deflecting most blaster fire, high-velocity projectiles and even blows from a lightsaber, although it is vulnerable to slower-moving objects, such as rolled bombs or - in one memorable instance - the claws of a Rancor. Its central sensor eye is a notable weak-point, if an opponent were to be able to penetrate the shield.

Aside its size and weaponry, the Scorpenek is a fearsome opponent in other ways. Equipped with a highly sophisticated cognitive module and versatile combat subroutines, it is capable of what can only be described as guile, working closely with allies and using strategy against its opponents. Contrary to what one might suspect, as well, the droid is not helpless against enemies who are able to get in below its guns; the Scorpenek is fully capable of striking and grappling with its massive, spike-tipped legs. Moreover, it is capable of continuing to move and fight even after sustaining damage that would knock out other droids.

The Scorpenek has never been common in the Galaxy; after its short production run for the CIS, it was discontinued by order of the Galactic Empire, with most existing examples transferred to Imperial technical intelligence for analysis and disassembly. Despite this, a number did find their way onto the black market, and the Colicoids themselves have been known to build small batches to order, in spite of official prohibitions. They have been used by a number of militaries and criminal organizations, notably the Pyke Syndicate.

LEGALITY
Illegal. Heavy combat droids such as the Scorpenek are highly restricted under interstellar law, with personal ownership being banned. They may only be legally operated by large factions.

INTENT
To add a droid from canon to our site's fanon.

RESTRICTIONS
A Scorpenek annihilator droid is an exceptionally rare and expensive piece of equipment, with individual ownership being difficult for any but large factions. Use of these droids may be subject to increased scrutiny by members of staff.
