The SD-9 strategic assault droid is an ultra-heavy combat automaton manufactured by the Balmorran Arms corporation. One of the most powerful battle droids ever built, the SD-9 is 3.8 meters of shielded, duranium-plated death on 2 legs, designed to wade through the heaviest defenses imaginable to reach and destroy its target, as well armed as a tank and so well armored as to be virtually immune to anything short of dedicated anti-tank weapons. A single platoon of SD-9s is considered to be capable of turning the tide of a major battle.

The SD-9 mounts a medium repeating blaster cannon on one arm, and a vehicle-destroying heavy blaster cannon on the other. The droid is powered by a starship-grade internal fusion furnace, which drives the droid's motive servos, shields, weapons and highly sophisticated battle computer, which runs continuously adaptive combat subroutines that can be matched only by a dedicated tactical droid. To gather tactical information, the SD-9 has a suite of sensors that would rival a probe droid. In addition to their own formidable capabilities, SD-9s are capable of coordinating friendly droids and other nearby allied units.

Widely regarded as the finest automated weapon system ever to walk off an assembly line, SD-9 strategic assault droids are suitably costly, with a squad of such machines reportedly costing as much as a well-appointed corvette. Balmorran Arms will sell to anyone with the credits to spare.

LEGALITY​

Illegal. Heavy infantry droids such as the SD-9 strategic assault droids are highly restricted under interstellar law, with personal ownership being banned. They may only be legally operated by large factions.
