Nakira took a deep breath as she strolled through the hallway of the large space station positioned above Brentaal IV. The reception hall was filled with numerous representatives from large companies, nearby planets and any other individuals the Jedi and Chandrila's government had considered to be of importance. Now, it was up to them to host the conference and convince the majority of the representatives to aid Chandrila in their time of need. It was one of those tasks that sounded much easier than it was.

"I hope they'll even listen to us, given the current reputation of our Order." she began, casting a sideways glance at her fellow Jedi. A part of her was glad that Nashyr was here with her, although she didn't know how capable the Cathar actually was in the field. "Then again, they answered our summons. Perhaps we can truly make a difference here."

Despite this being a very formal meeting, Nakira had decided to wear her red Jedi robes and her dark brown cloak. Knowing that they didn't have to pass through any metal detectors or deal with any other security measurements, she had chosen to take her lightsaber with her. The instrument was hidden in her sleeve, out of sight but still within reach. She didn't want a repeat of the assassination attempt she and her master had thwarted on Naboo a couple of weeks ago, so going in unarmed was out of the question.

"Have you done something like this before?" The Padawan asked her senior, wondering how experienced Nash was as a speaker. "I've never hosted a conference like this, or been a speaker in one. But I have witnessed a lot of them back on Hapes."

Truth be told...

Nash was entirely out of her depth.

Though the Hapan woman beside her seemed practically serene, she felt as though she were anything but. In fact, Nashyr had to question the wisdom of the Council to send her here; and not only her, but Nakira as well, a woman equal in status as herself. Though then again... the Force worked in mysterious ways.

She dressed simply, as always, in her sleeveless black tunic, dark grey leggings, boots, and black over-robe. Her hair, now grown shoulder-length, was kept back in a maintained braid, and gold glinted on pointed ears, a rarity even for the woman's former occupation. And she loathed every second of wearing this get-up.

She glanced at the younger Jedi, quirking her a half-smile.
"Nope. Gonna play it by ear, kiddo. We'll be fine, though."

There was a learning curve for everything, after all. Why not have a crash course in diplomacy while she was at it?

Nakira flashed a smile to her senior. "Going to play it by ears? Does that mean I'll have to do the talking?" she said with a light and upbeat tone. Not only did she train as a royal guard, but as a former noble, she had some experience with situations like this. Of course, a conference of this magnitude was not something she had ever witnessed before. But that wasn't enough to discourage her.

The Padawan kept a calm and relatively slow pace, arriving at the reception hall after a couple of minutes. The attendees were already inside, all except for their co-hosts, the representatives of Chandrila. Once she stood face to face with them, Nakira would slightly bow. "Thank you for this opportunity to show our worth. Not many are willing to accept the help of our Order after all that has transpired." she began, her tone respectful, but confident. "It is us who should be thankful, Master-Jedi." one of the representatives replied. "Your Order may be depicted in a bad light, but you were among the first to reach out to us. For that, you have our gratitude."

Once they had introduced themselves, the combined group of Jedi and Chandrila representatives would enter the conference room. It was a small hall, meant for emergency meetings. The room was filled with people, mostly humans clad in richly decorated garments, as expected of the core worlds. Once the hosts entered, the large holoprojector in the middle of the room activated, displaying an image of Chandrila and its neighbors. Hyperspace lanes were clearly depicted, which was something Nakira knew the representatives wanted to talk about. The possibility of it spreading to other planets was low, but still present. The Chandrilan government had some emergency measures in mind, but that would all be explained later.

She was thankful, at least, that the woman she was paired with had some experience with being in committees; unfortunately, most of Nash's own experiences with committees were not the kind that involved lives. Or if it did, it involved gangsters, criminals, and other greasy palms divvying up territories and settling disputes. Nothing like... this.

She had been told through a basic report of what was going on down on Chandrila, but not much beyond that. The rate of the disease was small, but seemed to pick up rapidly, and there wasn't yet a way to determine if it could be transmitted through breathing yet or not. Or by any other means. She was pleased to see it seemed her Master was working there; if anything, Maxims was sure to be a positive influence on this mission.

She bowed once to the committee, but didn't speak or make introductions until after the other delegates did, then gave a terse, simple reply to identify herself.

"Thank you for coming." She stood beside the holoprojector, spine tall and head high. "If I may, I would like for us to begin discussing the seriousness of this disease, and why extraplanetary aid will not only benefit Chandrila, a lovely planet by its' own right, but its' neighbors, who may be directly affected by this spreading disease."

Not a bad beginning, but a short one. And perhaps breaking protocol...but it seemed that they were all engaged with what was being said for now. Cutting to the chase would be far more preferable than twiddling around, contemplating the will of the Universe.

Nakira glanced at the Cathar, as she began talking. This was where it had to happen. If they could just convince about half of the people present to help them, she was certain that they could get this situation under control.

Once Nash finished, Nakira took a step forward. The hologram displayed by the projector changed, displaying a couple of Nebulon-B frigates and the schematics of various types of droids, most notably the surgical droid. "The research shows that the disease is infectious, but cannot survive outside of an organism's body. To prevent this infectious disease from spreading to other planets, we propose sending medical and labor droid to Chandrila. Our calculations show that, if multiple core worlds would contribute to this plan, we can send a sizeable fleet to Chandrila. that would be able to contain the virus and aid the population." The hologram switched again, this time displaying a fleet of Nebulon-B frigates gathering at Brentaal IV and jumping to Chandrila. "Of course, we cannot send unmanned frigates to Chandrila. While the droids are capable, we would still like to have men aboard who aren't restricted by programming." She explained, watching the audience for any disapproving faces. Finding people who would willingly go to the disease-struck planet wasn't exactly an easy task. "We estimate that a group of 50 to 80 people per frigate will be enough. The amount carried by the ships entirely depends on the supply of the droid manufacturing companies, and those readily available on the Core Worlds themselves." She specifically mentioned the droid manufacturers; the capitalism of the core worlds made it so that the companies had the real power; and not the government.

"I personally believe that we can gather such a fleet and get this calamity under control in no time. All we need is your help." With that said, Nakira took a step back. Her explanation was short and she skipped over the details, but this was just the first conference. Any who were interested could get a more detailed briefing later on. All she could hope for, was that they would leave a lasting impression and that there were companies and core worlds willing to aid them.

Nashyr could already see some members watching along, faces impassive. There weren't many delegates here, to be frank, and she knew as Jedi they couldn't demand justice or request help simply as Jedi. Acting as mediaries between the Chandrilans and their neighbors would be the first step... but this seemed excessive. A fleet for something that hasn't hit critical stages yet... She thought to herself, and glancing to feel the crowd, she knew that a few would have agreed with her.

"We don't have the resources for that many ships," answered one official, a tall, narrow man with sharp features. "Nor that many droids. Perhaps a ship each, with a team of professionals, but even then, what do we know of this disease? Why not simply quarantine Chandrila and cordon off all trades until the disease either is given a cure or runs its' course? Is it even deadly yet?" His gaze levelled to the two Jedi, in particular towards Nakira, with scrutiny.

His head tilted slightly, his voice calm.
"Pardon my pointed questions, but I am a busy man and will not provide aid unless it's necessary." He seated back down, and Nashyr stepped forwards, her own voice cool.

"What we've been projecting onto you is worst-case scenario, delegates. There's little we know about this disease, and from what I've been apprised,"
she glanced sideways at Nakira, "the infection rate has risen, and begun to spread. There is a possibility now of the infection reaching your planets, if it hasn't already." A rippled murmur touched the crowd, but she simply stood calmly. "We must help those in need now to prevent a greater catastrophe to our future. Perhaps... two ships, loaded with aid, from each planet, along with staple supplies and enough medical protocol professionals to ease the strain already put upon Chandrilan medical professionals."

Another person spoke, this time a female Rodian.
"Why should we listen to the Jedi?" she spoke, staring at Nashyr with an unreadable expression. "There have been many broadcasts involving your kind lately. What have you to benefit with our aiding Chandrila?"

Perhaps the other Jedi would answer, but Nashyr already had an answer. Hopefully, with a bit more talking...

Nakira's gaze shifted to the official who spoke up shortly after she finished. His words stung a little, as the man claimed that they didn't have the resources she had proposed they send. While she agreed that the scale of the plan required a lot of resources, she didn't believe that the core worlds lacked these resources. Not with a combined force in mind.

The official's questions were answered by her fellow Jedi and while her explanation seemed to have some sort of effect on the crowd, not all were convinced that this was the right course of action. The next person to speak up, was a female Rodian. She protested a lot more openly against the proposed plan. No, the Rodian official wasn't on board yet, because there were Jedi involved.

"What we have to benefit from helping you, you ask?" Knowing it was her turn to respond, Nakira would speak up again. "That would be to show our true colors, in my opinion. When presented with an opportunity to help or otherwise aid those in need, we shall always take it. You might see us as zealots or a dangerous cult, but know that that is part of our core beliefs." Her explanation was short, but hopefully sufficient enough to convince the Rodian that they were not here to do any harm.

Nash could still see unease with the crowd; though Nakira spoke truth, and it was true that these Core Worlds could supply so much more, she was sure given time and initiative these people would work for their idyllic neighbor in restoring balance and peace. Chandrila seemed to hold several core values that some of the Jedi held as well, but Nash would keep that to herself for now, content to listen until her companion finished.

"Don't think of us as allies," she said calmly, opening up her palms in a peaceful manner. "Or representatives of the Jedi, but as councilors and mediaries between your honors and Chandrila's own delegates." The few that represented Chandrila shifted, a tall Human woman and a much shorter, darker man, both of whom watched the Cathar and Hapan with grave, neutral expressions. "If you choose to aid your neighbor, this good will act will not go unnoticed... and may be repaid in kind." She settled her gaze on the Rodian who spoke up, expression neutral.

"I leave this up to you, to decide what is best not only for Chandrila, but for your people as well."
