Allanteen VI - 1800

Over a century and half ago, Allanteen had been one of the numerous Imperial shipyards in use by the Galactic Empire. Although it would never compare with the likes of the Kuat yards, it still produced a range of spacecraft, including Imperial Star Destroyers and everything in between. As time passed, the planet found itself isolated and withdrawn from the political stage entirely, only venturing within its local sphere to protect its interests. Surely there would be pain points that could be exploited, once they were uncovered.

By the end of the trip, Caelian had hoped to bring yet another world into the fold of the empire, its vast population and production capacity was heavily underutilised as a neutral party and could no longer be ignored.

Whether this would be achieved by subterfuge or diplomacy, well that hadn't been decided yet. Caelian sat quietly on a velvet lined chair outside a small local café overlooking an expanse of city that never seemed to end. Wearing a simple yet well-designed suit, he'd wait until company had arrived before ordering anything for himself.

His companion for the mission was somewhat of a mystery thus far, having heard only small tasty morsels of information about the Annwfyn, but on all accounts positive. If they were going to sweet talk anyone, it made sense that the politically minded noble Caerllion of Cyfnos would make a handsome ally.

Perhaps he would have some insight as to how best to apply his strengths to the task at hand, Caelian himself wasn't entirely fussed how they went about it, but it would do them some good to at least get to know each other a little before embarking.

Walking through the streets of Allanteen, Caerllion contemplated his mission on the planet. The world had an important number of shipyards, which had been used in the past by both the Old Republic, Galactic Empire and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Now, the Sith Empire could also use a new place to build its ships.

It was with the purpose of bringing the planet to the Empire that Caerllion was here. With the help of Caelian, the Annfyn was going to put his diplomatic skills to work and convince the local government to join. He only wondered how the Echani was going to help if he didn’t have a tongue anymore.

He would not mind doing all the talk and Caelian could give support with his strength, if the negotiations didn’t end well. Caerllion had made similar missions before, he could very well deal with an incapacited ally.

When he arrived at their meeting place, a local cafe, Caerllion saw that his ally had already arrived. The Echani was so different from that time in the yacht, he even lost an ear. Being trained by Draugr seemed to be terrible. It was another reminder that failure is not accepted by the Sith.

Hello, Caelian. How are you?” he said, before sitting next to him. “I hope that I didn’t make you wait for so long.” they had much to do. Like the Echani, the Annfyn was also wearing a suit. “Do you already have a plan?

The moonlight cascaded across the busy street, providing yet another illumination, albeit more natural than the multitude of other sources in their vicinity. The large world might have been isolated, but they sure seemed to enjoy all sorts of modern luxuries, like many worlds across the galaxy.

Caelian would be found writing notes on paper, scribbling down bits of information that he had picked up on his short time on the planet, whether it was gossip, observations or public knowledge. There was something here that they could use as leverage and bring the planet on side, or at least it was the start of the process, and they'd fill in the blanks later.

He immediately noticed the presence of Caerllion, looking up to his companion for the task with a warm smile, welcoming him to sit down. The Echani began projecting his thoughts to the Annfyn rather than attempting to sign or speak. He didn't know if Caerllion knew of the incident, but he wouldn't say anything about it unless asked.

I am well, I hope the trip was pleasant. I have only been here for a short time, strategising our next move, look here to see.

Caelian slipped a few pages of script that he had already prepared that showed some detail about the hierarchy of the world they sought. Power was shared between five large factions that dominated different areas - their cooperation would be necessary for the empire to control the planet, although there were many different ways they could achieve this.

  • The first faction called themselves the State, and their iron grasp of government function and justice was unparalleled.
  • The second were the Black Coats, the faction that controlled the military and provided external security for the planet.
  • The third were the Fingers, the group responsible for maintaining internal security such as police, informants and spies etc.
  • The fourth called themselves the Barons, they held a monopoly on industrial matters.
  • The fifth and final group was the Collective, this one is unique in that they are a giant workers union that dominates the planet.

Each group relied upon the others to keep control and shared a sort of mutual interest in each other's survival. Realistically, if the Empire could gain the support of a majority, that would be enough to bully the rest into submission, although how this was done was still unknown. They could attempt to incite conflict, stir rivalries or just smooth talk - the options were limitless here.

Caelian looked up to Caerllion with the gears of a plan starting to form in his head and a charming smile abound.

What would interest you more? We can stay here a little while to plan something on the down low, but just be mindful of our other friends who could be listening. Who knew if they were already been followed by the local government, so some subtly was likely needed.

When he felt Caelian’s presence brushing against his mind, the Annfyn immediately opened himself to him. Of course, he wasn’t going to give the Echani total access. It would be only enough for them to talk telepathically. This way the two were going to have a proper conversation, even if the other Champion didn’t have a tongue anymore.

The Annfyn picked the pieces of paper and started to read them. When he saw that the planet was ruled by five factions, Caerllion remembered his mission in Columex. While he and Arla tried to peacefully approach the groups that governed that world, they ended up involved in a failed coup that became a Hutt invasion. At least they were capable of securing it to the Empire.

Hopefully this time they weren’t going to kill one of the factions and nearly cause a civil war. Unless Caelian wanted to do something like that. “Interesting. Such division can end up being useful to us. Perhaps we could start by talking with one of them.” he said telepathically, his eyes never leaving the paper that he was reading.

I don’t mind if we stay here, by using telepathy no one will listen to us.” this was another benefit of using this ability to communicate. “We could start by talking with those that can be more receptive. I like your idea of allying with a group to use them to subdue the others. Do you have any idea who we should start talking with?

Thoughts bubbled in his mind as Caerllion responded, the Annfyn's mind seemed to hold a warm touch as he continued to read. It seemed they shared similar considerations for the numbered groups listed upon the paper, but while Caelian might not be able to speak directly, he would not expect it to hold him back in the mission.

Responding telepathically, he cooed.

"I am partial to three in particular, although if the opportunity arose we could speak with the others. As we desire to see the these shipyards churn out imperial vessels, it makes sense to garner support from the barons. Perhaps even your background can aid us in that endeavour?

The black coats and fingers would make natural allies if we needed to control a large population that might be resistant to our goals, although how we achieve this I'm not quite sure yet.

The other two would be ideal to have on board too, but perhaps we can consider that another time? What are your thoughts on the matter to convince them, do you think I have overlooked anything?"

After a short while, a waiter arrived to take their orders, Caelian although somewhat focused on their work, managed to request a light entrée and coffee by pointing at a menu. If they were going to be busy for a little while longer, it made no sense to do so hungry.

Caerllion paid close attention to what Caelian was saying. His analysis of the groups made sense. All of them were good allies, but only some controlled the most important resources that the Empire would want to use. While bringing all of them to their side would be excellent, the Annfyn believed that their efforts should be more focused on only the most important.

No, you are right.” he said, before turning to look at Caelian. “The Barons, Black Coats and Fingers are the most useful of all these groups. We should start by talking with them.” by winning these more martial groups to their side would be very helpful in their plan of bringing Allanteen to the Empire. He doubted that there would be internal opposition.

I believe that we can convince them by showing the benefits that they would have by joining the Empire.” this was the method that he always used when seeking to make an agreement. Few individuals could resist the possibility of having their desires being fulfilled. “We can also ask them what they want in exchange for supporting us.

Then, a waiter arrived to take their orders. Caerllion watched his fellow Sith pointing at the menu, so the waiter could understand what he wanted. The Annfyn couldn’t believe how terrible it would be to never be able to speak again. He decided that from now on he would talk the bare minimum when near Draugr.

After he asked for a cappuccino, the Annfyn turned back to Caelian. “If everything comes to worst, we can play the groups against each other. A civil war can also be useful for us.” he wanted to maintain the planet intact, but would do anything necessary to fulfill this mission.

A few thoughts crossed his mind as Caerllion spoke, nodding as the Annfyn suggested pursuing a diplomatic course of action at first. The three groups that they were initially targeting would all be in various forms of competition with each other, vying to etch out a little more control here or there, but all relatively balanced overall, with none strong enough to claim it all.

If they couldn't get them on side by diplomacy alone, the Echani surmised that it could be possible to extract information about party b, from party a and use that to their own advantage. The barons were fantastically rich, and they would wield this wealth as sword and shield, but it could also be their downfall. Their massive investments needed protection and an abundance of raw material to function, threaten that, and they might have to heed.

Likewise, the military protected the barons and relied upon the fingers to protect their ranks from dissent and betrayal, without that support their organisational ability could dwindle and make them vulnerable.

Lastly, the fingers protected the military and received patronage and financial backing from the barons, as they operated outside the jurisdiction of the state and therefore were technically breaking the law. The immense wealth ensured that no retributions ever came their way for the actions they took.

Caelian now turned back to Caerllion, the man of the hour. "Do you think, with your background, you could get us an audience with the barons? It would be a good opportunity for you to test your diplomatic expertise, and if they won't agree to support us, no doubt you will learn something we can use against another faction."

The waiter started returning with their orders, and the Echani began to nibble away while sipping the coffee.

Yes. From my experience, I learned that nobles love talking with each other about things. I think that it’ll not be a problem to convince them to have a meeting with me.” Caerllion said, while already thinking about the strategies that he would need to use during said meeting.

With that settled, Caerllion decided that it could be a good moment to start a small conversation. When they saw each other for the first time at the yacht, the Annfyn didn’t say anything to the Echani besides a dare. It was as if this was the first time that they were properly meeting each other.

Then, the waiter returned with their orders. Caerllion picked his cappuccino and sipped some of it. He wanted to laugh at the fact that it had been the second time that he drank coffee while planning the annexation of a planet. It seems that Cafes were the best places to plot this type of thing.

So, what have you been up to? Besides planning this mission.” Caerllion avoided mentioning anything that could be related to what Draugr had done with Caelian. He didn’t want to cause a bad impression with the other Sith. He would leave to the Echani to decide if he wanted to talk about it.

The mission seemed sorted as far as the grand details mattered, the finer ones could wait until they had actually made contact and saw how the other players on the board would react to their moves. With any luck they would all fall in line and the Sith would have smooth sailing to control the world, but things sometimes had a funny way of spiralling out of control.

Fortunately Caerllion seemed like a good fit for the mission today, his noble background, fine fit and well-spoken nature would definitely get them in the door and perhaps even complete the objective without blood on their hands. Caelian wasn't a huge fan of wanton murder, and he'd be squeamish at first at the idea, ultimately he thought he'd still go through with it for the mission.

He was caught up in his thoughts when the Annwfyn changed tact and asked a more personal question that would throw a spanner in the works. Caelian's gaze shifted from the spread paper back towards Caer's, lingering for a moment before responding.

"Oh..well after Korriban." his memory replayed the victorious confrontation against Vahliri again. "I kind of made a commitment to myself to never let myself be put in that position ever again. I've been busting my ass ever since trying to train, learn and push towards goals in ways that I never have before."

Caelian quietly stared away, back towards the table.

"This insight didn't come without a price, though." He didn't really seem to want to discuss that part further right now.

His solemn face broke through with a small smile, remembering the shenanigans on Eriadu.

"Apart from that fun social recently, I've barely had any time to myself to really enjoy, you know? It's nice to just enjoy some good company for once and not be rushing off on another mission without rest. How about yourself? I hope you've been well since we last spoke."

While he sipped his cappuccino, Caerllion paid close attention to what the Echani was saying. Even if he was only a witness to what happened in Korriban, the Annfyn couldn’t forget it. Caelian's fight against Vahliri and his judgment by Darth Raze was a perfect example of how the Sith acted with those that were considered weak.

At least it seemed that Caelian had learned his lesson. Of course, it only ended up being necessary for him to lose his tongue and an ear. He would need to make more effort to compensate for his past failures to have Draugr’s permission to recover his lost part, and even it was a big if.

When the Echani turned to stare at the table, Caerllion placed his left hand over that of his fellow Sith. He didn’t feel bad for Caelian having been punished this way, because he deserved it. However, the white-haired man had defeated Vahliri and seemed to be improving, so he deserved some comfort.

Yes, I’m good. I have been doing some missions for the Empire, visiting my homeworld to participate in sessions of the parliament. Things like that.” since he became a Champion, Caerllion ended up not having much free time. Being an active part of the Empire, the Annfyn needed full of work.

There is some time since I had the opportunity to enjoy a good company.” he smiled at the Echani, before slightly gripping Caelian’s hand. Caerllion leaned to whisper close to the man’s ear. “Maybe after we finish this mission, we could have some fun together.” he winked, before removing his hand and returning to drink his cappuccino.

Caelian the warm hand brush over and rest upon his own in a comforting way. It was nice to be in the company of a fellow Sith who, at least on the surface, genuinely cared about what happened rather than some of the others who had either encouraged the situation further or at best avoided the subject for the most part.

The Echani listened quietly as Caer spoke, the Annwfyn casually mentioned his home world and the different facets of work that he had been doing lately. This piqued his interest but for now he would hold his uh tongue, well you know what I mean.

What he said next was certainly less reserved, although not discouraged by any means. Under any light Caerllion was a handsome man, sadly he wouldn't say the same about himself in recent times but if it wouldn't bother the other, why would he let it bother himself? The damage wasn't just a punishment, but a reminder of where he had come from and a declaration of where he was going.

Slightly rotating his hand to take Caer's palm into his own, Caelian's face revealed a smile. "Maybe indeed." Would be his charming reply. "Although before we leave I'd love to hear more about your home world and people, I have heard only things in passing but have yet to visit."

After their conversation would wane and the afternoon turned into the evening proper, Caelian would leave it to Caerllion to show the way into the high life of nobility, where they would be able to start their mission in earnest when he was ready and had no further questions.

Caerllion smiled with Caelian’s reaction, allowing his fellow Sith to hold his hand. “Annwfyn is a wonderful place, full of forests, fields and mountains. All the nature here is preserved, with my people having learned ways of living in harmony with it.” the Annfyn loved talking about his homeworld, if he wasn’t careful he could do it for several hours.

It would be a pleasure to show you Annwfyn someday, but my people don’t allow outsiders to visit the planet's surface. It only happens on some very rare occasions.” Caerllion explained, while thinking how this tradition in particular was stupid. Since he had joined the Sith, the Annfyn had started to think that not all of the traditions of his people were worth being followed. “However, I can arrange for you to have a clandestine visit.

For the next hours, Caerllion would continue talking about his homeworld and the wonders that filled it, including the great space station of Tír na nÓg that orbited around it. He would also encourage the Echani to talk about the planet where he was born. Besides talking about Annwfyn, the Champion also loved hearing stories about other worlds.

After some time, the Annfyn decided that it was the moment for them to start working on this mission. “I’ll send a message to the Barons, asking to have a meeting as soon as possible. Preferably tonight.” he said, already typing a message on his Datapad. After finishing it, the Annfyn sent it. “Done. Hopefully they will answer us.

In the end, they didn’t need to wait too long for an answer. The Barons had sent a reply. “They seem intrigued with our desire to meet. They want to talk with us tonight, during a ball that is going to happen. I received the coordinates. What do you think?

It was a wondrous story, that of the Annfyn home world. He could vividly imagine the kind of world it was, as Caer described its features. A small frown creased his face as he mentioned that they also shunned outsiders visiting the planet. He supposed it made sense in a round about way, it would help protect the pristine nature of it all, although it was a shame that the only way to enjoy it would be through subterfuge.

His mention of this certainly perked Caelian's attention, with a smile returning ever so slightly.

After their short wait the baron's response was prompt and welcome, with their invitation they would soon be brushing shoulders with some of the planet's elite and if they made good impressions, perhaps they could even secure their support for the plans ahead.

"That is a lovely idea, we won't even have to change. Lead the way, I'll follow your cue until we've found our footing." He quietly added.

It was a calm and quiet evening for a walk, with only a handful of civilians out and about living their lives blissfully unaware that the pair that would walk them by were there. Caelian studiously followed Caer through the various parts, pointing out all the interesting objects and scenes that befell them along the way. It was a pretty city and one that they might have enjoyed if not for the mission lingering in the background. Perhaps another time, he considered solemnly.

After some time had passed they have finally begun approaching the coordinates, although by now this was hardly necessary. The large estate was well protected and one could see the splendid manor a mile away in all its opulence. Caelian would leave the talking with security to his companion, opting instead to admire the handy work that had gone into designing the large gated entrance.

It didn't seem like they were the first to arrive, nor were they late as a speeder approached from the distance, no doubt filled with more guests.

Yes. We can even go here immediately.” in the end, coming here with these clothes ended up being good. Rather than going to hunt something that they could use during the ball, the two could stay together and plan what they were going to do in the case of having trouble. After all, this invitation could be a trap.

While they walked toward the coordinates that Caerllion received, the two Sith would discuss what they should do in this case. “Even if they invited us for this ball, we need to be careful. As far as we know, they could be preparing a trap for us.” after what happened during his mission in Collumex, the Annfyn had become very careful when dealing with planetary rulers.

After arriving, we should pay attention to our surroundings and watch for possible routes of escape. It’s better to be prepared for the case of needing to run away.” if planning how to convince the Barons was the main part of this mission, finding a way of escaping in case of trouble wasn’t too far behind.

When I went to Collumex, me and another Sith ended up being trapped by a Hutt. It wasn’t too difficult to escape, but I would like to avoid that happening here.” if they ended up falling inside a dungeon, Caerllion didn’t know if he would be able to teleport them like how Arla did. He was still learning how to do it.

After some time, the two finally reached the coordinates. It was a manor,of the type that you would see being used by a member of the low nobility. Caerllion wasn’t impressed by it, he saw better places on other planets. Approaching the entrance, two guards were talking with the people that entered.

Good evening! We have an invitation.” the Annfyn showed the message that he had received. With a nod of his head, one of the guards allowed them to enter the manor.

The scene was stunning and kept his attention for the moment whilst Caerllion spoke with the guards. After a brief checking of their lists, the men grumbled something under their breaths about having no idea who these two walkers were, having never seen their like before. Still, they were permitted to enter all the same and would have the freedom to enter the manor at last.

Caelian was both older and supremely confident in his ability to fight out of any trap against any non force users. If anything, it would allow them to show the barons just how powerful the Sith were, it would surely be a reckless move on their part to try anything so silly. Yet, Caelian agreed to be mindful of any shenanigans that the barons might employ to keep Caerllion happy.

The gilded halls were majestic and clearly expensive as far as he could tell, not coming from any sense of wealth, it all looked wondrous to the Echani. A few well-dressed guests congregated close to the entrance, with others coming and going between a number of rooms on either side of a grand staircase. These were clearly friends, acquaintances or various connected persons that had found themselves invited but were not the target of the night.

They could see a number of nobles watching from the balcony, heavy cigars and alcoholic beverages in hand Caelian nudged Caer softly and flicked his eyes up towards them to gauge his thoughts on whether they could be the ones that they were after. He wasn't sure if now was the right time to approach them, or what the appropriate etiquette was for a fancy rich boy party, but time would tell.

"We might only have one shot at securing their support, two if we're lucky." He mused with Caer.

With the permission of the guards, the two Sith entered the manor. Even if the place wasn’t that impressive, it was still large and had nice architecture. The building had a similar style to that used in Naboo, but also had touches of something more modern. Caerllion decided that he was going to give it a 6 out of 10 in his scale of impressive buildings that he visited.

While he evaluated the architecture of the place, the Annfyn also looked around in search for good places that they could use as a escape route. He saw that the main corridor had several lateral rooms. In the case of trouble, it would be possible for them to run to one of them and jump through the window.

Caerllion noticed Caelian’s gesture and turned to look. He saw the group of nobles staring at the two Sith. If the Annfyn needed to bet, he would say that they were the Barons. The Annfyn recognized on their faces the expression of people that felt superior to others because they were part of the nobility. Exactly how sometimes he did.

I’m aware. We’ll need to be careful when playing our cards, they seem to be demanding with what they want.” Caerllion was used to dealing with such a type of noble, but problems could still appear. “If they are like the ones from Annwfyn, we can stroke their ego and they would easily agree with us."

I hope that you are prepared.” the Annfyn said, before walking toward the Barons. Now the action was going to start and they would need to use all their abilities to convince the nobles to give their support to the Sith.

Caelian wasn't entirely sure how he would be able to aid Caerllion in these negotiations, he considered speaking with them telepathically, but there was a risk that it would cause offence. The barons weren't used to being powerless and that could go either way, scaring them by the overwhelming strength of the Sith or worse, pushing them away.

Instead, he decided to play the silent bad cop, standing menacingly to his partner's side and watching his back. It was more likely to be a diplomatic game of cat and mouse anyway, he figured. Perhaps they would seek a partnership, an alliance of sorts against their enemies. There was also the possibility that just cold hard credits would be enough to sway them. There were many ways that he could pursue the barons, but Caelian was confident in the well-spoken companion making the correct decision.

As they approached the nobles, the eldest and meanest of the lot caught the pair within his iron sight. Puffing slowly upon his pipe, he didn't hesitate to smile and wave them over. The old patriarch, introduced himself as Cornelius Browne, and it was soon apparent that he was the one behind their invitations.

"Welcome to my humble abode, I am glad that you were able to make it on such short notice. Would you care to join me in the study, there is much to discuss?" The man was moving, whether they agreed or not, it seemed. Caelian briefly looked to Caer before making the decision to follow along as he listened quietly.

The study itself was probably not as impressive as the ones that Caerllion was used to seeing on his home world, but to this old man it was everything. The little joyful jaunt in his step, the beaming prideful gaze held as he looked around the collection that had been built during his lifetime.

"I have invited you here out of courtesy, and away from prying eyes. I am a pragmatic old fool who has made plenty of money sitting on the side lines of the war. I am quite content with this position, but I will at least hear what you have to say before I make up my mind."

It wouldn't be enough to secure the old man's approval to sway the rest of the barons, but it would certainly help in their endeavours. Caelian stood a few feet behind Caer, listening and waiting to see his response.

While they approached the Barons, Caerllion could look better at them. They were a group of nasty people who looked much more like gangsters than nobles. All that was very different from the nobility that he was used to dealing with. Hopefully the strategies that he knew would also work with these.

It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lord Browne.” Caerllion said, before giving the man a respectful bow. He expected that Caelian would do the same. “Of course.” he followed the Baron, while thinking how ridiculous the man seemed by puffing that pipe. The smell coming from it was also terrible. The Annfyn hoped that the other wasn’t going to stay the entire meeting smoking it.

Like the rest of the manor, the study wasn’t impressive. It was smaller than the one that his father had and looked like a broom closet if compared to the one that his aunt, the Queen, had in the royal palace. The decoration of the place was also tacky, with some weapons and several taxidermied animals. The Champion hated these people that were obsessed with hunts.

What Browne said didn’t make the Champion feel excited with this negotiation. The man already had an idea on his mind, it was going to be very difficult to change it. “Lord Browne, we came here in the name of the Sith Empire to offer the opportunity of joining us. I can see that you already have many benefits with your neutrality, but you can have many more as part of the Empire.

Allanteen has a very important position and its shipyards can be of great use for the Empire. By supporting us, you and the other Barons can receive far more money.” Caerllion pulled his Datapad. “With your permission, I would like to present to you the benefits that your group will receive by joining us.

Caelian couldn't help but look around the room while Caer and the baron spoke. It was nice enough for his tastes, although he was astute enough to notice that the former was far less impressed. He'd never been wealthy, nor wielding significant power, so he supposed that was quite normal.

Lord Browne sat there listening to the opening speech, his casual smile appearing to fade slowly as he took the datapad and begun examining it. "I don't care what this says, I want to hear it from you. We have a nice thing going on here, you'll need a damn good reason for making me want to disrupt it."

Caelian noticed the flared emotional change coming out of the baron, it wasn't the first time he'd been in a tough set of negotiations. Fortunately for them, even if this one was a dead end, there was always another willing to step up and take his place. A wasted son, or scorned daughter looking to get even with an estranged parent. Still, it would be much smoother if they could proceed without too large of a disruption.

The Echani wasn't about to telepathically speak to the baron lest he spoke the man, but he would offer assistance to his ally where he could. It would be up to Caer whether he thought his words had any merit.

"Find his weakness, is it pride? Gluttony? Family? Low status? We know little of him, and you know nobility. Use that to your advantage."

Caerllion wanted to roll his eyes. Browne seemed to be the type of noble that he hated the most dealing with. The prideful ones that spent most of their time thinking about how good their life was, but lacked any vision to see that it could become even better. The Annfyn would need much patience to deal with this guy.

He had heard Caelian’s advice and decided that it could be useful. The baron should have some weakness, everything in the Galaxy had one. Caerllion would only need to probe Browne some more and it would eventually come out. Perhaps the flared emotions coming from him could be a clue.

Lord Browne, the shipyards of Allanteen will have great importance when the planet becomes part of the Empire. By supporting us, you’ll receive more money and perhaps even the title of planetary governor.” he said, while carefully waiting for the man’s reaction to this offer.

Of course, if you do not agree, we would seek other allies among the leadership of Allanteen. I wonder if any of your colleagues would be interested in becoming a governor, this would open to them so many possibilities.” Caerllion decided to appeal to the man’s ambitions. He doubted that Browne would want other people to have such a position.
