DESCRIPTION
The Shogun-Class Carrier had the unenviable job of proving that Starfeld Industries could field a carrier in support of some of their other designs that lacked starfighter protection. Designed to provide a launching position for a respectable number of fighters and bombers without being a sitting duck in and of itself, the Shogun-Class Carrier was produced alongside frigate production runs by the company and often sold as part of a package deal.

Due to unfortunate nicknames, the package deal often became known as The Screwed Shogun.

Despite being better armed than other dedicated carriers and slightly faster as well, this does mean that the Shogun-Class Carrier carries fewer starfighters than other dedicated carriers and yet doesn't have the firepower to fight off other capital ships by itself. Indeed, the defences built into the carrier itself were initially rated for defence against starfighter/starbomber attacks and light pirate raids.

As with other Starfeld products, the Shogun-Class Carrier can be found in planetary defence forces across the Outer Rim due to being cheaper and more easily purchased in said locations than some of the other, larger, providers of military starships.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Shogun-Class Carriers are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To create a slightly more armed carrier to give another product to the canon starship manufacturer Starfeld Industries, giving players and factions another choice of carrier that doesn't mean choosing between a cruiser or a flying barn.

RESTRICTIONS
Yes. Shogun-Class Carriers are large capital ships, therefore these that cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size.
