Yeah even the shrink thought he had been a bit hasty and he had been but Lorcan always knew that he was the type of creature to make mistakes and worry about them later. He didn't care that he was making a mistake because right now, in the moment, it made sense to him and he liked having that clarity so he went with it. Even better, he liked a challenge and there were often no better challenges than the ones he set for himself.

The challenge was to un-kark his own mind, un-kark his methods and then un-kark his quitting by becoming such a desirable hire, once again, that the Rangers would accept him back. Or maybe he'd figure out what else he could be out there in the wide Galaxy? He didn't know but he was intrigued.

Reaching into his cooler, he drew another two beers. He had a couple dozen in the cooler since beer tended to be low on the alcohol content side but he made no move to give Doc another - if she needed one she could get one herself, he wasn't a Ranger anymore but he also wasn't a fecking waiter either.

"Nope."
he popped the letter P as he spoke, "Think I'm going to focus on getting absolutely plastered. You're welcome to join or leave - whichever floats your boat."

Well, so long as he wasn't going to regret his decision.

She was certain, giving him time to think on it, there would be more regrets, more doubts, but he already seemingly closed out. For a moment, she regarded him. He seemed to serve himself, but the theoretical offer extended to drinks made her rise, gritting her jaw. Even though she'd been given numbing shots for the wound care she received, there was always still an edge of pain pulsing in her gut, much to her annoyance.

There were benefits and draws from having high tolerance to affecting drugs, including alcohol.

"Can't say no to getting plastered," she agreed quietly, snagging a couple of her own. However... a rare gleam of humor touched her own amber gaze as she gave a small mock toast, popping open the cap. "But I think you'd get there before me." Her lips twitched slightly as she took a swig; no use to stand on ceremony anymore.

He certainly wasn't.

Yeah drinking was something that anyone in his line of work got used to and he could see the same in her. She wasn't going to back down from the drink so he was happy to give her some. Nothing worse than giving someone some booze and them just wasting it you know? He took another drink.

He mimed tapping his bottle to hers.

"Like kark you'll be last over the line."
he barked out with a laugh, "You might have some magical force shite but you're not a lower-dweller."

Lorcan's first drink had been some twisted concoction distilled in old engines to hide it from the gangs that roamed the lower levels. The fact that his liver still worked was probably something of a miracle in and of itself but it did mean he could hold his alcohol.

"What makes you think you've got a shot, doc?"

She tilted her bottle to mime back a cheers, but his amusement at first seemed mildly insulting. Or perhaps that was just him; his general lack of willingness for polite company was charming in its' own brutish, lowbrow way. She could appreciate it.. but she didn't have to like it.

She took a long pull from her drink before answering, and kark it was rough. It was only then she gave the man a small, cold little smile, amber eyes glittering with wry mirth.

"A physician doesn't share her secrets..." she demurred, lips still quirked slightly, "unless much more alcohol is involved." A deliberate tease, and wry amusement at his own expense.

...

"If that's what your smile looks like maybe don't do it."

He honestly couldn't help himself because that expression looked absolutely terrifying on her face. Like one of those slasher villains on shite holo-vids or whatever. Of course he probably shouldn't have actually SAID that but he was nothing if not direct so he wasn't going to sugarcoat what he had to say.

Doc freaked him out more than a little.

"Magicians. Magicians don't share their secrets - physicians I kind of feel should?"
he raised an eyebrow before waving a hand, "Eh doesn't matter. You can have as many secrets as you like Doc - I don't care to know em and you don't care to share em."

He took a hearty swig of his beer.

"... I feel like fast food now. Usually this happens after beer."

She merely perked a brow, taking another swig of her drink. Was she meant to be insulted by that open statement? Perhaps. Her head tilted slightly, eyeing him coolly. "I freak you out, I suppose," she stated blandly, shrugging. "And?" She almost stated, you're acting the idiot as I suspected you were, but prided herself on her personal constraint of speech.

"Fast food..." she muttered, tapping a finger to her chin. "It's been a while, but why not. D'Narral's, or what's your preference?"

She didn't care if he liked her or not, at least he wasn't moronic enough to act nicely to her face.
