Sith Empire Sanctioned, as Chancellor Ro and President Thorne lend support
Despite attacks on impartiality, Thorne votes against his own Governors to push sanctions through

A heated session of the Galactic Senate has come to a tumultuous end, with a nail-biting vote being decided for the first time since the body's formation by tie-breakers. The resolution, which was moved by Senator Starros (FWA) of Lothal, means that it has become a criminal offense to sell weapons, warships and more to the Sith Empire or their ‘agents’, effective immediately. In a controversial debate, which saw accusations of corruption being levied against the ISC President by New Republic and Free World Senators, clear battle lines were drawn from the beginning, leading to confusion in the Senate as to what was being debated in the first place.

The session was quickly brought back to order by the Speaker, who began to process a vote reminding members of the specific motion that they were to be voting on.

President Thorne and Chancellor Ro shocked onlookers when they announced their support for the vote, casting their two votes, which would be used in the event of a tie, in favour of the resolution. Sources within the Senate say that ‘there were clear mumblings of audible shock from some Senators, especially after much of the session had been dominated by attacks on the President, and suggestions that his position on the Blackwell board would influence his vote’.

Regardless, with the motion having carried - the ISC now has a clear divide between its Governors, who unanimously voted against the resolution, and its President, who broke the tie, and voted against his own Governors in support of the FWA and NR members who had spent much of the session lambasting him.

The effects of this wave of sanctions are expected to be of great concern to Kuat and Fondor, two worlds which boast large ship yards, as well as for multiple planets which play host to large intergalactic arms companies. The economic impact of this resolution, is not yet fully understood.
