DESCRIPTION​

As slugthrower weapons begin falling out of fashion with increasing regulations against their possession, Corellian Arms sought to develop a weapon for connoisseurs of slug weaponry while adhering to legal standards. The resulting firearm, the SKR Sporting Revolver, is one that can be fitted to fire slug or blaster bolts, but not both at once, by isolating the magazine from the rest of the weapon in the form of a removable feed mechanism. The designers chose a revolving chamber to house the slugs as an attempt to appeal to anti-slugthrower activists through an apparent low capacity, though the weapon came with greater stopping power than the typical slugthrower to compensate for it. However, the SKR failed to meet the requirements to be identified as a blaster pistol and the project was cancelled after a short production run.

Although the SKR can be modified to fire blaster bolts, it required the weapon to be disassembled in order to switch to a blaster power pack or vice-versa, making it impractical to attempt to change munition types in the heat of battle. The pistol unfortunately had an abysmal energy consumption rate, due to its construction supporting slug rounds, highly limiting its total capacity before the power pack needed to be replaced. The replacement of the power pack is noted to be quicker than the weapon's contemporaries, due to the ease of access of the power pack compartment. It is noted in tests that the blaster bolts fired from an SKR cause damage equivalent to dedicated blaster pistols.

The SKR came with attachment support to add a stock to steady the pistol for longer range shooting. However, the attachment does not directly improve the SKR's performance. Existing speedloaders for six-shot revolvers of its slug caliber are compatible with the SKR.

LEGALITY​

Despite its hybrid nature, the SKR Sporting Blaster is legally classified as a slugthrower and is treated as such.

INTENT​

This weapon represents the aesthetic choice for my character to have a pistol that requires manual loading as well as present the flexibility to have a weapon when expecting heavy combat. The character is not designed to have access to anything heavier to accompany the pistol: the SKR is meant to keep the character's combat ability at a place where he can be on par with blaster wielders when prepared.

The amount of work needed to alter a blaster to slug throwers would be insane.

I was going with the real life distance that a skilled shooter is capable of shooting (the maximum optimal range) with a pistol as the maximum range. I realize after reading the rules sheet that the max range is to be much shorter and made the adjustment.

I am not disputing the legality of slugthrowers.

Altering blasters to slugthrowers in either direction is, to my knowledge, not established as being easy or difficult: just that it's generally not done.
