Senin was watching the two women trying to remove the stone slab from the doorway. Even if the Acolyte was interested in the altar that was behind it, he wasn’t going to help them. Why should he care, when they seemed to be making excellent progress already. By the way that the stone was moving it seemed that soon the entrance would be open.

Then it started, he felt his mask becoming uncomfortable. Senin frowned, why was he using a mask? He knew that it was due to something important, but he couldn't remember, having forgotten completely about his alias. The Acolyte moved his hands to the object in his face and started to scratch the skin around it.

Things started to get even weirder when the location they were in had completely changed. Senin could only describe the place as something out of a holomovie of horror. The Acolyte stared at the beings hanging from the hooks and felt the urge to vomit.

Senin looked at Gamall, his eyes widened when he noticed that the woman had changed into some type of witch. "What kind of abomination are you? What did you do with us?" he yelled angrily at the old woman, as her mask seemed to begin to burn her face. His hands shook, tempted to want to rip it off, but she knew for some reason he couldn't do it.

As they walked toward the mansion, Cinere looked around at his companions. Clearly, he didn't particularly trust any one of them but necessity dictated this alliance. As they reached a gate, a Zabrak ignited a lightsaber and cut through the lock, earning a surprised look from Cinere. Out of all the people in the Galaxy one could get stuck with on an uncharted planet, he had somehow hit the jackpot and gotten a Jedi. Interesting.

A cry grabbed his attention and he once again saw the beast, this time chasing a woman. As the Zabrak planted himself in front of the beast and threw his lightsaber at it, Cinere charged it, his own lightsaber now in his hand. It snapped and ignited as he reached the beast, and attempted to slash at its waist in an aim to bisect it, maintaining enough distance to avoid being grabbed or thrown aside by the hulking monstrosity.

In his mind's eye, the skirmish earned a chuckle out of him--a Jedi and a Sith, fighting together.

Felix didn't felt like Arctus needed to explain himself or his reasons for why he put him in charge to the point of cutting him off as he spoke to him.

"I-I understand why Arctus, I know I can do this" he flashed him a soft smile. "Now go, I'll take over carrying him so you can follow her to the chapel." He would swap his position to help carry the unconscious ranger with Livi. "and thank you for your confidence."

CRUMBLING RUINS
THE ALTAR

Gamall was visibly unconcerned by the metal-wearing man's hostility or the weapon he held, cackling away without a care in the world as if the man wasn't even there. In a sense, he wasn't. Something vital and irreplaceable had been taken and now lay in the old hag's wicked hands. Who was he without his name? "Oh dear, are you going to burn me down?" she asked him, the overwide grin splitting her face literally from ear to pointed ear. The man who'd been Drak would hear a distant scream, one he'd heard before, the sound of someone burning to death. Why had he done that? Did he even know anymore?

Laeonas lost little but an alias was enough for Gamall's purposes. His hostility, too, was easily dismissed.
"Oh no, not rats silly boy. Rats don't leave other rats to die for treats." More cackling laughter, the rotting room darkening around the very edges. The man's vibroblade would in his hand felt heavy and light at once, leaden with things he'd done and light with the urge to do them again. It would be so easy, wouldn't it?

Sah'ra's hidden lightsaber felt strangely heavy as well, the bled crystal inside a burden to move in the strange way the Force existed in this place. The misery contained within arced up her fingers like lightning, echoing up her limbs into her mind.
"Such hesitation! Dear, oh dear, how will you ever protect your precious family like that, hmm?"

A crooked finger rose to point toward Senin, the old hag speaking through endless cackling. "Why, Gamall! Didn't you hear? Or were you too busy thinking about what others might think of you behind that mask?" Her fleshed sagged, as if there was far too much it on her old bones. Skins on the walls laughed with her, dry and whispery, horrified faces without tongues emitting horrible sounds to match. Dried and rotting lips moved up and down in mimicry of life, abdomens empty of guts shaking, the pile of bones rattling in time.

"It's a mystery, secret, silent, waiting to be explored. Don't you want to find out, little girl?" she answered the woman who'd been Ripley before. Her urge to discover hadn't been forgotten with her first name, only the success she'd found in doing so.

Without warning Gamall's skin began to bulge, broader and wider, like a sick balloon being inflated. Moving things wriggled and writhed beneath the surface, a wet and fleshy skittering audible to those in the room. Her eyes bulged, now entirely black, then burst into cascades of dark fluid. Long, bloody rents formed in her skin.

Out poured clouds of insects. They tore from her flesh and crawled from her mouth, covered in blood and viscera as they emerged from the woman's body. Black spiders darted across the floor, fat grave flies and biting mosquitoes buzzed wildly around the room seeking flesh to gnaw. Centipedes swarmed across the floor toward the gathered people, fangs high and dripping in foul venom with legs like tiny spikes clattering on the stone. The hides on the wall never stopped laughing at them all even when the sounds of tiny things that devoured the dead drowned them out.

The doctor looked at them as if he were suddenly quite confused by their question. How could they not know what this place was?

You... you're trying to lure me out, aren't you? Aren't you!? he started to shout, looking down to the locks that were on the door as well and the chain deep behind the barricade to make sure they were safe.

You're just another illusion inside this accursed asylum, aren't you? Begone you monsters! I won't let you take my patients away again! They need me! the man yelled.

The patients beyond seemed to have no reaction to any of what was going on, but if they chose, the group would be able to begin removing pieces of the barricade one at a time.

Arctus's attention shifted from the door to Felix, a grateful smile tugging the corners of his lips upwards at his Padawan brother's response. Carefully he shifted his hold on Darius and swapped with Felix without much of a fuss, the action jostling the unconscious Ranger. A glimmer of happiness squeezed past the dread the former smuggler felt, secretly glad that he had managed to cross the bridge he thought separated him from Felix.

Truth be told, Arctus worried that Felix might have been harboring the same kind of dislike and distrust Drastus had for the former smuggler. But seeing the young man's smile and the expression of gratitude towards Arctus's trust in the former's capability, the former smuggler's doubts and fears vanished. From this point onwards Felix would know that Arctus was someone he could trust, and vice versa.

"Thank you, Felix."

He didn't wait for the doctor's response to the Padawans' questions, nor did Arctus really stuck around longer to hear the man's accusations. The yelling barely registered as the Padawan walked down the hall, some of the lights flickering above him. Following the sign that indicated the way towards the chapel, the tinny sound from the music box caught the former smuggler's attention. Stepping into the well-lit chapel, hazel grey eyes were immediately drawn to the man donning a priest getup.

Dread shifted into unease as he made his way towards Charlie who was busy inspecting the music box. Arctus couldn't remember the last time he prayed, and despite being raised by a mother who believed in the existence of a Supreme Being, he never really picked up the hype about religion. Maybe being constantly abused by his father helped. Still, the Padawan had been raised to respect other people's beliefs.

"Hey, er, 'scuse me, Padre," Arctus called out to the head of the congregation with a slightly awkward smile. "Nice place you have here. Couldn't say the same about the rest of the building, though... uh, about that, actually–"

He approached Charlie, one hand casually but cautiously hovering on the small of her back. "There are people in the infirmary," he whispered to her, mindful that she would be the only one to hear, "and for some reason they barricaded themselves inside. I think they're trying to keep something out."

Back to the priest, the Padawan continued in a jovial tone, "Mind if I ask a few questions? First, what is this place called? Second, where can we find the nearest spaceport?"

Charlotte frowned at the music box. What had she been expecting? Some demonic devices? Silly girl. She never touched the light switch before the chapel was suddenly illuminated. A creep raced up her spine. Her shoulders hunched and bile rose in her throat. Her eyes flicked to sudden appearance of a man very much not in their group. Charlotte dropped all pretense of trying to hide her affiliation. She dove into the Force, wrapping the blanket of the Darkside around her. The Hapan Noble did not possess great strength in the Force, but she brought forth every ounce she could muster. Her fear feeding the Darkside within.

She kept her eyes on the priest. Time to get some answers. “It is soothing…” Her voice carried in the room. “But I would be far more comforted if I knew where I was and with whom I was speaking.” Charlotte’s right hand hovered by the concealed saber at her belt. Her survival instinct ticking in her head.

HUMBLE TOWN
Eri gasped as her head whirled; in front of her were the faint shadows of those she had just turned her back on. She spun back around and fled into the fog, noticing one of the taller buildings nearby. She only glanced at the markings on the door, barely making out the image of a serpent, before sprinting past. She counted her breaths, trying to take her mind off of her surroundings...1...2...3...in...out...in...out. She glanced at another building and skidded to a halt as she spotted the exact same symbol on the door. This time, however, she got a good look at the house; it was dilapidated and terrifying, decaying as if from the inside out.

She then noticed the fog beginning to thin, and, to her right, slowly but surely revealing a massive creature up the alley. She stared in shock as it came into focus; it was much taller than she and...it...it...Eri stared in shock and reached up to touch her own mask, making sure nothing had grabbed it as she ran by. She squinted to get a look at the eyes behind the mask. Her own mask and the fog limited visibility; all of a sudden she became aware of how quiet it was. The beast stood there rock still,
mocking her, hating her. Who does...it...think it is?
Unconsciously, she took a step towards the being. It was taunting her; it wanted her to come near. She wanted to come near...

But an itching feeling on her neck, coupled with the fact that she had heard nothing in the past 30 seconds caused her to look over her shoulder. It was a mirror, surely. A cruel trick. Someone was playing them all, trying to prank a group of travelers on a still night. Yet it faced her while she had her back turned, head sideways. It made no sense. She made no sense.

Yet as she watched herself, she must've imagined its eyes glinting red and taking a step forward. It was at that moment she knew- she feared nothing more than herself. Masking herself and hiding from others; that made her feel safe. As soon as she fully gave in..She winced and turned back to face the massive humanoid, clutching both sabers, refusing to look behind her, walking slowly yet deliberately towards the masked figure. She hissed aggressively, hoping it would back down or get out of the way.

HUMBLE TOWN.

Trini's eyes were wide as her stingbeam was essentially ignored by the towering creature. She thought about firing again, of trying to get in close and using her tiny weapon's full lethality against the beast, but then a Zabrak stepped forward, a blue lightsaber igniting with a distinctive snap-hiss.

"Jedi..."

This was not the first time the young Amaran had fought alongside wielders of the Force, but even so, the energy rolling off Crix sent a shiver through her, Trini's own nascent power reacting to his. Abruptly, however, she found the fleeing woman being pushed toward her. Instinctively, she grabbed her hand, gritting her teeth and tugging her after her.

"Hurry, this way!"

Crix's lightsaber had unlocked the gates, and Trini opened them ahead of her, unknowingly pushing with the Force as she did so. Taking no conscious thought of her action, she hurried with the woman in tow up the drive toward the mansion on the hill...

When Ashla returned to the world of the living, not that she was dead before, or maybe she was, she wasn't sure what had just happed; yet on returning to the here and now she did not move for a few moments, unsure of herself. Finally her legs started moving, first slowly, then with growing certainty. She had come this far, and no matter what had happened so far she had to see this through. She wasn't sure if it was her saying that, or, and her hand went to her chest as the thought crossed her mind, something else.

Regardless, she reached the same junction where the others had encountered another woman and the same man with the weird...something on his head. She watched as Amaran's shot was simply brushed off by the creature, as the Amaran then started pulling the woman towards the manor, and as a Jedi stood facing the monster.

Walking up to the door, she absentmindedly noticed that the lock had been sliced through, the neat cut of a lightsaber. She turned back to look at the Jedi, and remembering the words she had heard earlier, knowing that their cause, his cause, was already failed, she turned away. Her legs still moved and carried her towards the manor.

What could he do against such reckless hate as this?

Stand.

Stand so that others could avoid needing to take the same stand as he was. Stand because this pyramid-headed asshat needed to die and Crix wanted to be the one who made it happen. When it just stood there and laughed at him, the sound echoing throughout his skull, Crix gritted his teeth and reached down.

"You think this is funny?"
he seethed lightly, "All this death all this darkness, amuses you? Well kark you buddy, it's not as funny as your face is gonna be."

As it continued onward, Crix himself flung his shoto saber upward into the weird helmet of the creature, the blade igniting as he guided it with the Force. The idea was to punch into the helmet with the lightsaber blade and then, using the Force, to turn the inside of the pyramid into a bloody mess of a blender.

Of course crackling darkness hadn't been part of the plan - he had honestly expected to have to parry a giant rusty sword really. There was darkness radiating from the attack sent his way but Crix didn't think it was going to be as easy as Sith Lightning to parry with a lightsaber so he didn't. Instead he rolled to the left with his saber extinguished, hoping to avoid the bolt rather than have to try and tank it.

  • "Mia?"

The word seemed to float on the air lazily like a too-far-away echo. The woman on the floor stirred but then remained still for a moment before scratching at her face. Rolling over, the woman would gaze up at Mik with bloodshot eyes, yellowed from the consequences of organ failure.

Mik? She asked, sitting up slowly. In full view, Mia looked even worse for wear than she did before. What are you doing here? Mia's tone was harsh, accusatory. It's your fault I'm like this, that I'm stuck here. Why can't you just get the fuck away from me?

She was standing on her own two feet now, however unsteady. Mia walked up to Mik and pushed him in the chest as hard as she could. You were supposed to protect me! She yelled, dry throat screeching hoarse. Why didn't you just let me die after the accident? Another push. I hate you.

Mia would keep pressing Mik with more abuse, hoping to get him to cave in and attack her. How strong was his resolve?

The moment she looked at him he... experienced a mix of utter happiness and the painful memories of his greatest fears and worst trauma. Mik was frozen the moment he looked in his late wife's bloodshot eyes. He endured her harsh words like he had back then, swallowed them without reply. He understood, at least he thought he did, her struggle.

"Be careful," he muttered softly as he watched her get up to her feet. She looked like he last saw her. When he had to identify the body at the Coronet City morgue. It was a memory so engraved in his mind he hadn't set foot on his homeworld since and yet on his bad nights he always seemed to be back in that morgue looking at her. "Mia, I-" she pushed him and while the spice had greatly dimished her strength he was forced to a step back to keep his balance. Her words stung like they always had. Spicer's words, maybe, but to him they rang true. He should've taken days off from work to care for her post accident.. not work more to remain on the partner track at the shipyards. Maybe he could've avoided..

Mia's next words ripped away his ability to breathe as he pushed him again and this time he stared at her in shock. "What are you saying?" he replied, breathlessly, as Mia kept trying to push him backwards, her bloodshot eyes wet and the scratch marks on her body becoming more and more pronounced as her blood got flowing.

She said she hated him. Again. Not knowing what to do, Mik wrapped his arms around her. "I..I'm sorry, Mia-" he stuttered as he tried to keep himself from crying. "-I love you."

The figure did not react to @Erialex's hissing and it did not move out of her way. In fact, every time she would try to move around or past the figure, it would simply appear in front of her again. She could turn around, run left, run right - it wouldn't matter. This was something that could not be ignored.

So weak. It said to her in a voice she would recognize. Afraid to face what you are.

Suddenly, the figure would split into a dozen versions of itself, all the same. They would surround Erialex in an a circle, their faces unflinching, their eyes glowing faintly red where there had only been darkness before.

Stop hiding. Let it go. Release who you truly are, or you will never leave this place alive, Erialex.

The glowing eyes would grow brighter as the sky above grew darker. Time was running out.

--

@Ashla Ti and @Trini Halrixien would reach the front of the mansion around the same time, Trini dragging the green-eyed woman behind her as they had fled from the beast. As they approached the front porch, the door leading inside would open for them, as if it already knew they'd be arriving.

We can't go in there, The girl said, her eyes wide with fright and beads of sweat starting to form on her forehead. People who go in there they.. She paused for a moment, biting her lip. They don't come back out.

The woman smiled at Ashla and Trini, though something sinister seemed hidden behind the flash of teeth.

My name's Allery, by the way.

--

When @Mik Deluto went to embrace his wife, he would find that his arms would simply pass through her. She would reappear behind him, her small, bony fists smacking him in his back.

You are nothing Mik Deluto. Her voice was raspy but filled with malice, dripping with the poison of a wasted life, of dying alone and angry and scared. You should be the one who is dead. YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO IS STUCK HERE FOREVER.

More fists, scratching, feral. She would kill Mik if he let her.

Would he?

--

@Crix Aran and @Darth Veles worked in tandem, their attacks swift and true. Each of the attacks landed, the beast making no real attempt to dodge them or parry them. It died as swiftly as it appeared, fading into nothing but ash into the wind. But it had achieved the purpose it was sent for.

When the Jedi and the Sith turned around, they would find the gate Crix had opened minutes before locked up tightly again. Looking past the gate, they would not see Allery, Trini or Ashla. They were alone now, the wind blowing gently - the smell on the air reminiscent of bonfire..

Rising into the sky a distance away, the two would see blackened smoke. It floated, oddly, almost straight up as if it were being sucked into a vacuum. The orange glow of hungry flames beckoned to them both with faint whispers - or was it simply the breeze? - but something else was pulling them towards the manor.

The opposites would have a choice to make, it would seem.

Ruzaan had many of the same questions as Arctus did, and didn't see much point to asking the same ones. Like the doctor, he had patience. However, a shiver ran down his spine again and he decided that he'd rather be on the other side of the door. The Togruta's only response to the man was to ask, "Could an illusion do this?" before beginning to remove a piece of the barricade that was within reach.

Clove stared over her shoulder at Ruzaan as he began to tear down the barricade with a questioning look in her eyes. Was it a smart thing to do?

No, most likely not.

Did they have to get out of the hallway and find some safety?

Yeh.

Was the room filled with mysterious ill people the safety they needed?

Force knows.

Deciding there was very little to lose, the half-Sephi turned her body away from the hallway and back towards the barricaded door. She followed Ruz's example and began to remove a piece, carefully to not hurt anybody with it.

"I'm a Doctor in training, Mr... Errr. Doctor! Maybe I can help you with anything?"

Clove lowered the piece she just pulled out of the barricade onto the ground, and leaned a bit closer to the door in the hopes to see more of the room and sick people.

The Force was strange here, unfamiliar and foreign when compared to any sort of experience Sah’ra had had in the past. Whether it be the influence of the planet itself, subtle and beneath her notice until these past few moments, or sinister manipulations from the woman named Gamall, it was only too clear now that this group of survivors had wandered directly into the spider’s web. Whatever action they took, the hag pulled their strings and ensured that this dance would be anything but predictable.

The fact that Sah’ra could not recall her own name, nor that of any of the others, continued to gnaw at her mind. To so casually erase memories as soon as they were made as well as those that she had grown up knowing would require a focus that she had not seen from their ‘host’ that the Sith almost began to wonder if this was even a manifestation of the Force at all. That if they had perhaps stumbled across something more paranormal. Whatever the truth of their situation was, it was eroding her calm demeanor as well as her patience. Sweat began to form at the base of her hairline, anxiety brewing in anticipation of finding a way out of this hellhole before things continued to devolve into horror. ”Perhaps standing in the rain wasn’t such a horrible choice, after all…”

Lost in thought as she attempted in vain to grapple with the truth of their situation, Sah’ra heard little of Gamall’s responses to those around her as they each growled in revolt, but what came next was impossible to ignore. The woman’s face began to contort and mold itself into such a vile sight that her own stomach began to turn. As Gamall’s eyes erupted into a tar-like fluid, descending across her inflated and twisted cheeks, Sah’ra’s own expression twisted into one of disgust as she prepared to remove the hilt of her weapon from within her robes. Only… she couldn’t. Even if only the tips of her fingers grazed the cold plating of the weapon, she was met with pain and anguish that resonated from the crystal within.

Her hand snapped away from the hilt, blue eyes panicked as they looked to the skin to ensure her fingers had not been burnt though she saw nothing. What did remain however, was a pain within her skull that radiated across her forehead. So strong was this sensation that she was forced back, step by step, until she found herself now relying on the Arkanian woman to support her as Sah’ra moved her arm across Ripley’s shoulder while the other shot to her forehead to try and suppress the resounding pain.

As if that wasn’t enough, things continued to take a darker and horrendous turn as the hides and corpses that lined the chamber seemed to come to life, their laughter matching that of the melting woman as bones and carcasses shook. And yet it all soon was drowned out as Gamall erupted with new life, insects of a variety of species shooting forth from every orifice of her body and enveloping the chamber in black and bile. Still leaning on Ripley, recovering from the effects of the radiating pain from her own weapon, Sah’ra grimaced in pain as she pulled her free hand from her face and extended it towards the fire that sat in the center of the room.

She had been hesitant to call on the Force before all these strangers, unsure whether or not any of them were friends or foes of the Sith, but their situation left her with little choice. It was either act now and face the consequences, whatever they may be, or be devoured by a horde of venomous and vile insects. The woman coiled the force around the embers and flames that surrounded the rusted blade, drawing them out and away from the pit where they had resided. Through her pain, Sah’ra would try and control the flames as best she could, twisting them across the floor of the room in hopes of devouring any creatures they could before bringing the ball of inferno to a halt and launching it in Gamall’s direction. Even as she did this, the excruciating headache diminished her focus and threatened to restrict her capabilities… but she would not give up. The last thing she wanted carved on her tombstone was “devoured by beetles”...

Crix let out a slow breath as he called his shoto-saber back to his left hand with the Force, extinguishing it as it arrived back. That the beast was gone was of little consolation for the Jedi Knight as it had done nothing - literally nothing - to prevent its fate. And all that told him was that the creature itself had been confident that it would not be destroyed by the attacks from himself and the Sith who had showed up out of the mists to assist him.

Watching as it faded to nothing, Crix tried to calm himself down but his heart was beating an imprint on the inside of his rib cage and his left hand was shaking. His hand hadn't shaken since he had gotten several dozen hours worth of therapy and months of distance between himself and Sullust. For it to be back?

It felt like he had failed himself.

Glancing over his shoulder, he noticed the way that the gate was locked shut again with no signs he had ever cut it in the first place. He... wasn't going to throw good credits away by trying to bet against the idea that it would resist such an easy cut as before. Something about this whole thing stank to the skies of the Dark Side and with the Dark Side? Nothing was easy.

He looked back to the Sith, clad in some kind of ritualistic armour that he had no idea of the meaning behind. If there even was a deeper meaning than, somehow, managing to look even creepier than the half-naked, metal-pyramid-helmet-wearing creature that had disappeared into the mists of the town.

"Truce?"
he offered the Sith, eyeing them for a moment, "This town doesn't seem to hold to sides... so why should we?"

With the smell of burning on the subtle twisting breeze, Crix had a direction to go in. He didn't know if the house was the best option or not but usually the smell of burning was a Bad Thing. And in a town like this?

Probably the source of a lot of bad shit.

So he started walking.

Lorcan was beginning to think that the action was elsewhere and by that he meant that he seriously considered trying to shimmy down some guttering out a smashed window. But, after deciding it was likely too much effort, he had decided that heading down to deal with the clown possee of Jedi children was, somehow, still his best option.

Reading up on some of the notes he held in his left hand as he walked, leaving the offices he had raided with his blaster pistol in the other hand. Humming as he walked down the stairs, he poked his head round the door briefly to see if his stunned man had managed to wake up. If he did, he would stop to have a conversation.

If he didn't, Lorcan would amble on down the main staircase to where they had started before slowly and carefully making his way in the direction of the little clinic or lab they had. As part of making sure he didn't get shot accidentally (but, admittedly, probably making it more likely for him to be shoot intentionally), Lorcan walked loudly and spoke louder as he approached.

"Alright so the upstairs is a bit of a bust."
he called out as he approached, "What's the story down here? We got anyone who actually wants to talk cus that guy upstairs just wanted to play with other people's fingers."

The answer that Gamall gave him, together with the mask being uncomfortable on his face, made Senin furious. However, she was right, he was afraid of how the others would react if they discovered that he was a Sith. The Acolyte wanted to maintain his identity hidden, because this way he could at least have moments of normal life.

While the aberration laughed, Senin noticed that the corpses in the room were also laughing with her. He was astonished. What was happening there? Was it something related to the Force? It reminded him of something that he would have read in a horror holobook.

As if the situation couldn't get any more grotesque, Senin watched in horror as Gamall's body literally burst and from it came several insects and other creatures. They started to crawl toward him and the other people.

He pulled his lightsaber from his belt and activated it. Senin was prepared to hit the creatures with it as soon as they approached. Then he noticed the woman, who was the last one to arrive in clearing, used the Force to control the fire to attack the insects. He couldn't remember her name and wondered if she was a Jedi or a Sith. This question would need to answered later, now they had bugs to kill.

HUMBLE TOWN
Eri stepped around the being, eyeing it carefully, hoping to escape back into the fog. She looked away and began running- only to spot it again, ten feet in front of her. She turned towards a building and tried to get to the door, but the being appeared on the doorstep. She turned to run backwards where it had been before...and it was still there. Her rasping breaths were the only sound she heard until the voice rang sharply through her mind. I am not scared of what I am...I control what I am...I am in control. I have control! She let out a scream of frustration, knowing she was lying to herself.

She whirled yet again, yet this time the being didn't teleport, it duplicated. Surrounding her in a wall of masks, she watched as their eyes began to glow red, yet another show of mockery. You don't know a damned thing about me...

But I do...Again, just let me fix this...
A dull pounding in Eri's skull made her wince as she put both of her hands on her head and fell to the ground. No...I am...control... She struck herself hard on the cheek, yet felt nothing. Con...control... control... Eri's head jerked sideways at an impossible angle as her arms contorted, dropping her lightsabers and clawing at her unflinching mask. She writhed for what seemed like an eternity before stopping. How much time had gone buy; a second? An hour?

Does it matter? Her head lifted up and she slowly straightened, picking up her sabers, somehow looking into each of the creature's eyes at once. That night, one more pair of eyes glowed a bloody red. Underneath the mask, only an evil grin remained contorted, black tears dripping down the chin. Another monster had escaped.

I HAVE CONTROL.

The beast crumpled to dust under their blades without even resisting. It had not even had a chance to attack them. Cinere extinguished his lightsaber and turned to the Jedi.

"We don't have much of a choice anyway," he admitted. As much as he hated it, he knew they were stronger fighting together right now. And maybe it would be the only way they can escape.

The smell of burning wood filled his nose, and he turned to scan the skies. A thin line of black smoke stretched down a decent distance away, but he began walking. "We have to play the game to get out." He looked around to find that everyone else had disappeared, leaving him alone with the Jedi. Things were going to get interesting.

A Mandalorian's hand never wavered, the greatest warrior culture in the galaxy was known for their warriors filled with pride in combat and their lack of hesitation to pull the trigger...But Drak was not a Mandalorian, not right now at least, his hands shaking as the scream of suffering echoed inside his head...Why did he burn that person? Why was he such a monster? Was this retribution for all the things he had done in the past? The monster in front of him perhaps a punishment for what he had done? He couldn't pull the trigger and burn her alive, not right now, not like this.

...But he was not going to lay down and just die either, as a scene straight out of a nightmare happened right in front of him, his hesitation suddenly disappeared, replaced by the survival instincts that he had for reasons unknown to him, for he was no longer facing a human figure like the ones he had burned in the past, but a writhing mass of bugs that wanted to do nothing but harm them...And he could point a weapon at those with little hesitation.

While fire spread through the floor because of the actions of someone else, Drak decided to take care of the bugs that had the ability to fly, fire coming from his weapon as the Mandalorian breathed heavily. In any other situation, Drak would have noticed that the fire that was helping them came from a sith's sorcery, but right now, with a cloud of insects needing to be taken care of and a part of his mind reminding him about the many pained faces of people he had killed as their skin melted and fell from their bones, he didn't really have it in him to focus in anything that wasn't actively trying to kill him or consume his heart with guilt.

Livi listened and eyed the man behind the door suspiciously. She was quiet even as the girl introduced herself as a doctor in training. However, something the man said had stuck with Livi. Asylum? The Ranger in training stared at the doctor before her gaze flicked to the people behind him. The paranoid way he spoke suggested he was not all there, so why was he responsible for others?

“Who are you really?” Livi hissed, trying to look at the name tag on the coat, “Are you actually a doctor or does that coat belong to someone else?”

There was a sudden concern about the other patients and she quickly stepped up to help yank the barricade away. In order to do this, she had set Darius down in the hallway behind her. She looked over at the Togruta and the girl, whispering softly so they could hear.

“Be on your guard,” Whatever that meant for the daycare center. She heard Lorcan’s voice come in and paused briefly to answer.

“I think this is some sort of mental institution. We’re trying to gain access to a room full of people and this entire situation is sketchy as f-“ She glanced over at the short girl and togruta and cleared her throat, “Sketchy as heck.”

Crumbling Ruin
The Altar

The immediate reply from the hag caused a cruel smirk to play across his face. Words were a sign that she was stalling, trying to taunt him. If her magics could fight fire, that was one thing, but unless she could shatter cortosis at will, there'd be nothing that could stop him from cutting her to ribbons. That brought him to the matter of how he might actually kill her once the time came down to it. Was revenge not something that ought to be drawn out? Surely such a quick death wasn't befitting of someone who'd caused such suffering.

That she hadn't answered what she was planning to do was something else he took note of. That had to be information she didn't want to give away; similar to how she didn't want to explain how her electric lantern was still fueled after an uncounted number of years. Even with hate burning through him, his mind processed information as it always had; collecting every relevant detail, processing it, and holding onto it. He'd been stunned by all the changes that had happened, but only briefly. Now he worked, beginning with the rest of them.

At least, he'd try to pay attention. Usually, he'd be able to take note of even the slightest of actions within seconds. Yet it was when the old woman's taunt turned in his direction that all his analyzing came to a screeching halt. Amber rings faded from his eyes as other feelings besides hate began to pour into his subconscious. Almost immediately, he felt an imbalance in his grip, unsteady, weighted yet lightened all at once.

But finally, there was that action which had left him crippled for weeks. Crippled with the immeasurable weight of what he had done. "Rats don't leave other rats to die for treats." She had told him, and it had been so sickeningly true. Even the most vile vermin in the galaxy often cared for their own kind.

Yet Kamelle Skyler's burned body reminded him of what he was. Lower than a rat, lower than the lowest scum in the galaxy.

He didn't deserve his name, his riches, the clothes on his back; not even the air he breathed. All he'd achieved amounted to broken lives, a number of spice deals, and plenty of dead men and women, questionably deserving of their fates. All he amounted to was a petty criminal, blessed with powers he'd wasted on thieving, drug pushing, extortion, and murder.

"And what is she?" He still felt himself ask. Almost unprompted, it seared through the guilt that was threatening to break his resolve. "She's a monster. 'Ow long 'as she lived in this place? 'Ow many people 'as she lured 'ere?" He continued the line of thought. The entire time, the only thing that had shifted in his exterior was his expression. Through taunt after taunt directed at the others, through the horrid laughter of skins and the movement of old entrails, what held was measured uncertainty, coupled with what could only be described as overwhelming regret washed over his features.

Yet now, there was a change. Those mopey features began to solidify once more.
"Rats don't leave their own ta die, but they don't skin their own alive. They don't lure their own inta traps, 'opin t'subject 'em t'orrors th'at not even tha worst in tha galaxy deserve." Where thoughts of the fates of the men and women who'd suffered at Gamalls hands might have originally inspired terror in his heart, he began to feel something else. A burning sensation that caused his grip to once again tighten, for his teeth to grit together.

"This murderin', illusion weildin' aberrant t'tha force is... is... lecturin' me." The realization caused aquamarines to widen, and his heart began to pump. His eyes darted around the room again, taking stock of everyone there. He saw the mandalorian's flamethrower shaking, saw the man in the mask's fingers trembling. He watched as the woman besides the albino began to reach for something, while her eyes were focused on something else. Following her gaze, he spotted the rusty looking blade in the fire. His anger flared, and his gaze quickly fell on what was next to it.

The old hag in question.

Without another moment's hesitation, he'd lunge forward. While one hand reached for the hilt of his vibroblade, the other shot forward, reaching for the blade in the flames. Even in a place where the force was muddled, he was still able to try and summon it. The charred wood cracked and popped as the rusty old blade flew into his grip. He was only a few feet away from the hag now, and as adrenaline pumped through his system, he didn't even take account of the bulging movements under her skin.

Until she burst.

A swarm of insects larger than any he'd seen before swarmed from the old woman. Her eyes, her mouth, the tears in her skin. Instantly, biting mosquitos, gnats and flies flew into the man. He could barely even register what had happened before they started nipping at his exposed skin. Pain from a thousand different cuts tore through him, as terror gripped his heart.
"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEEEIGGHHHH!" He screamed, lashing out with the force. Many of the insects burst, their vile guts covering his clothes, his hair, his face. With another push, he'd throw himself backwards.

The entire time his grip had fastened around the hilt of the blade like a clamp. He swung it around wildly, completely disregarding how he'd thrown himself near the others again. Pulses in the force rippled from him, concussive blasts that would pop the insects accosting them, but due to their frantic nature, would slam into everything around him. It wouldn't be enough to bring down the walls, or burst any eardrums.

But they would be loud.

Abandoned Building

As expected, Darius proved to be completely worthless to the group after getting hit by those stun blasts, and the group was treated to the distinct pleasure of hauling around two hundred pounds of dead weight for upwards of ten minutes. As if to passively spite Livi for her crimes, at one point or another, the Lokkian’s head flopped over to the left – leaning against his fellow Ranger-in-training.

It was at this point that Darius began snore obnoxiously loud. Right into her ear.

It wasn’t until his comrades set him down in the hallway, moving to remove the blockade at the door, that Darius began to rouse from his beauty nap. He let out a long groan, eyes fluttering open and a hand rising to rub at his bloodied nose. It took Darius a solid fifteen seconds to realize what had happened, and that he was currently slumped against the wall.

Almost at once, he scrambling back to his feet, springing up from the ground and back onto his feet. The ISC Sniper tugged on the hem of his jacket to straightening it, followed by running his fingers a few times through his auburn to fix it into place. Very much attempting to act like none of the past ten minutes just happened.

Nevertheless, there was an exceptionally grumpy expression on Darius’ face the entire time – blue eyes narrowing onto Livi. Not only had she shot him, but at this point Darius was completely ignorant to the fact that they’d been hauling him around for the past ten minutes. From his perspective, it looked like they’d just slumped him over against the wall.

Before he could unleash a string of profanities upon Livi, Darius’ attention was drawn ahead to the sketchy-ass guy behind the door. The Lokkian had only caught a part of what the man had said, and it took him a while to piece together what was going on. The lack of details didn’t seem to matter, though. Darius heard the words ‘Asylum’ and saw the guy behind the door and that was enough to thoroughly creep him out.

He watched as his comrades began removing the blockade, causing him to blink a few times. A part of Darius was tempted to just pull the blaster pistol from his hip and encourage the guy to open the door, but he quickly decided otherwise. Unlike Livi, the Lokkian wasn't nearly so trigger-happy. Nearly.

Instead, Darius begrudgingly took a step forward, starting to pry away pieces that prevented them from getting through the door.
