EQUIPMENT

DESCRIPTION
The Stalwart-class light freighter is a cargo transport which was originally developed by Pan-Galactic Power Products, a massive, venerable corporation which makes everything from starships to kitchen implements. First appearing shortly before the Galactic Civil War, the Stalwart has been a reasonably steady seller for the company for over a century, and has proven popular as a middle-priority courier ship and - unofficially - as a smuggling craft. Its aesthetics are divisive, but its virtues are hard to argue with.

The Stalwart follows what can generously be called "classical" lines, that being a roughly cylindrical fuselage, tapered nose and wings reminiscent of archaic rocket ships. Otherwise, the Stalwart is a good deal more modern. Flown by a crew of 2, with up to 4 passengers, the Stalwart can carry up to 85 tons of cargo, with its middle fuselage being essentially an enormous cargo hold. Crew and passenger accommodations are cramped and spartan by comparison, but this large capacity in such a small craft - 25 meters nose to tail - is yet another selling point. Top speed is a respectable 60 MGLT, and the ship boasts a class 2 hyperdrive. Armament is poor, however, only a single ventral turret with a single light laser cannon; up-gunning the ship is generally among the first thing independent owners do.

The Stalwart-class light freighter retains a following into the present day, and thanks to its simple, sturdy design, is likely to remain so for some time.

LEGALITY
Legal. Light freighters such as the Stalwart are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring a ship from Legends canon into our site's fanon.
