DESCRIPTION​

The STB-E is the staple bomber of the Republic Navy and many Core World Defense Fleets, and has proven itself to be a reliable design. The central structure of the crafts unique offset architecture allows it to carry a considerable payload of torpedo's and bombs, and the forward heavy laser cannon allows it to engage larger ships directly, even without ordinance- this makes it a powerful tool to use against enemy capital ships who have neglected a proper fighter screen. The STB-E is quiet fast for a bomber, though it is not as maneuverable as many modern Starfighters and it lacks the heavier armor of most bombers. To make up for this lack of defense, the designers included a pair of chaff launchers designed to confuse the targeting computers of both capital ship guns and guided missile locks- some creative commanders have even used wings of these bombers to create a chaff screen large enough to shield larger ships for a few extra moments as they close distance with the enemy.
