Ask Supplies for the Front

With that, several ships would pour out of hyperspace above the Ruusan system. This is a good job for Aden Archer. The job here is to watch the convoy of medical and emergency supplies makes it to the planet's surface for relief from the horrible AMS virus. The young U-Wing pilot hasn't been upclose to an infected, but he heard the stories and watched footage about it. Horrible.

The job is simple. He would be guarding with Vrashinal Karzinkaal. Although this is for a good cause, Aden insisted he get paid for this. He has to pay for fuel and repairs somehow should it come to it.

With the fleet of emergency ships are all out of hyper space, as did Aden flying the Bravebird. After some systems check, he would then at full speed fly from the rear towards the very front of the fleet. "Everything is looking good" Aden said on the comms as would look at his ship's instruments, nothing on radar. "No sign of any bogeys" If Aden had to be honest, he kind of hopes that something eventful happens. Doesn't have to be pirates or brigands, but something less boring than a simple escort mission. Otherwise it reminds him of how boring being in Corellian defense forces was.

"All good over there Vrash?" He asked his partner. "You don't mind being called Vrash right?" hopefully anyway, because isn't sure on how to pronounce either of his names. Anyways, Aden has his normal flight gear on, helmet with visor up, no breathmask though at least yet. Aden would keep his eyes peeled for anything that sticks out.

The Grievous, his former vessel, had also joined the escort mission, though the old pirate had decided to ride with Aden, so as to not seem like he was usurping his successor's leadership. Vrash's old vessel was an old Mandalorian warship, a gift from his days as a friend to the Clans, along with his armor.

The former pirate, would look towards the pilot from his seat as he checked the readings on the scans. "Clear so far, boy." the old Reptilian would say. "But I wouldn't be surprised if that were about to change. Vrash is fine." The Kaleesh would prime the weapon systems before running another set of scans. "So tell me, how did you get signed up for this?"

Retirement had been nearly non-existent for the old Kaleesh, he had stepped down as the Dread Pirate then entered a life with a little less notoriety. He was now known as the man who pulled President Thorne from a burning wreckage and served him until his disappearance. Now the Kaleesh was using his name to get others to join causes for the eventuality of his return to the ISC. They had gotten stagnant and with the whispers of the military being passed, they now needed to join a side in the war. So this, was just a baby step.

How did Aden get signed up for this, the Kaleesh asked, he would answer "Well, the Republic said they were looking for help ensuring that it's convoy got to the destination in one piece. That's how I signed on the job." he said. "It's for a good cause too." It's a good cause thats pays of course and Aden will see this convoy arrive to the planet safely. "What about you? What brings you here assisting Republic aid ships?" That is indeed the man who pulled Emryc Throne from the downed ship on Naboo after it was shot down by the Sith to where he is now. Is he as eager to help those in need as the good people onboard the Republic vessels? Could be.

Anyways, all readings were clear on both ends as Vrash confirmed as well. Aden would keep his U-Wing ahead of the assortment the convoy. If there were any threats then he would be the first line of defense. Just to think, just a decent ways, the planet Rusaan is in front of them. Maybe this can go without a hitch...

But then there were new ships coming from hyperspace, behind them "Ships coming out of hyperspace behind us" Aden would then turn his ship around and travel to the rear quickly as possible.

With that, there would be a total of 13 ships coming out of hyperspace. Smallcraft. The group would then open a channel to the other ships. A Aqualish voice woudl be heard "Attention Republic vessels. This is the Blood Eagle Pirates. We will be relieving you all of your precious food and medical supplies. If you surrender your cargo, we will let you all good safely. If not, we will still relieve you all of your food and supplies, and your lives". The pirate vessels consisted of seven Cloakshape Fighters, four Skipray Blastboats, and single lightfreighter light freighter. With that, the pirates are making full speed towards the convoy.

Vrash would nod his head as the young human spoke. The pilot was there for more than the money, that could be respected. "It's good to see the young still believe in causes." The old reptile would say. "I am here, because the cause is a good one. I may have retired, but these old bones cannot be idle, not for too long."

At the sudden ping of ships exiting hyperspace, Vrash would snarl, turning back to his console. "Always around here.. rookie mistakes.."

After their hail, a modulated voice would come over the comms. "Blood Eagle Pirates, this is Toaractu, Captain of the Grievous. Abandon this or be turned to dust." The Pirate Lord escorting the convoy would say over the comms. As the same time, the Grievous would begin to shift, turning perpendicular to the incoming craft and without a seconds hesitation, the Mandalorian war vessel would open fire on the incoming pirate ships, with the dual turbolasers targeting the freighter.

"Time to show me some real flying, boy." Vrash said as he fired up the weapons systems.

Aden nodded and smiled as he listened to the old Kaleesh. But then pirates starting showing up and are enroaching. Well, this was predictable, they were expecting it in the briefing. Now they have to defend the convoy against these scum. He didn't care for what drivel the pirate leader had. "You've picked the wrong convoy to attack." he replied back. He would would ready to engage himself, turning back around. His weapons are locked and loaded.

While the pirates were threatening everyone and were poised to engage from the rear, the Republic convoy just kept going forward towards Ruusan so they can keep going to their destination and make sure they are not harmed in the crossfire.

The pirates were opened fire upon first by the Grevious. The freighter that was targeted by the turbolasers would attempt to maneuver around them. Weaving around, veering up and down .etc. Turbolasers were not the most effective things against small craft, but then again the freighter they were using is pretty slow and had average maneuverability. But it was hit with a turbo-laser shot. Sure, the ship had medium grade deflector shields, but turbolasers shredded through the shields and the damage bled through onto the vessel itself, doing massive damage. It was intact, but barely. The pirate freighter would then try to back off.

The four pirate Skipray Blastboats were making a bee-line to attack the Grevious. Armed with missiles, ion cannons, and torpedos they could spell trouble for even that corvette. Aden picked his targets, the starfighters could be dealt with but the Skipyrays are more dangerous to both Vrash and the convoy and they need to be dealt with now. Aden maneuvered his ship to where he would be attacking the first Skipray from the front but from an angle he would pelt it with laser cannon fire until it's destroyed. Aden would take the next Skipray, line up his crossairs and fire another salvo of laser cannon shots. After scoring a few hits on the next Skipray's front wing, it would start spinning out of control out to the sidelines.

The spacer would then see that a pair of starfighters are now starting to pursue him and the Skiprays have backed off to initiate evasive maneuvers. The rest of the cloakshapes would try to try making attack runs of the Grievous, using laser cannons and their missiles.

As the freighter tried to the escape The Grievous, the war vessel would activate its tractor beam, to try to at best pull it to the craft for boarding, or at worst, slow it enough so the pair of heavy turbolasers could continue to pelt away the vessel. The profile of the war ship would also give The Grievous the chance to get some more heavy fire in on the approaching enemy until the more nimble craft could out maneuver it.

With two of the Skiprays scrapped or damaged, that would give the corvette some breathing room and allow it to focus on the cloakshapes setting up their own attack run. Once the freighter was destroyed, The Grievous would focus on taking evasive actions.

Vrash was used to a lifetime of battles, be they land or aboard the Grievous, but here on the Bravebird, starfighters were a brand new beast. "Good job so far, boy." the Kaleesh would say, fairly impressed. "We got the remaining Skiprays manuevering to our six. Engage the the cloakshapes and line them up for The Grievous?" he'd ask Aden, as he read the readings from his scree.

"On it" the young pilot said, as he would try to do as requested of the senior Kaleesh. The skiprays are due to start attacking again shortly, but those cloakshapes have to be dealt with. Plus Aden has one on his tail. As the two boogies are shooting him at the rear, Aden would weave his ship around to avoid them and try to lose them. "Gotta shake these off my tail first" he commed over. His light shields would take a two hits, the impact could be felt on the Bravebird itself as the hit bled through the shields, he would be left with little to work with. Now he would try going to half speed and quickly doing a loop as hard as he can. The ship might be bigger, but it's still decently maneuverable.

The poor saps were lost and confused. Aden would be able to adjust and then fire a salvo of laser cannons to destroy one of them. The other one would attempt to back off to evade.

Now he would be angled to try and intercept the cloakshapes trying to attack the corvette. They would be firing, but for now the shields should be able to hold up. Aden would then open fire on the cloakshapes, aiming to get their attention, the shots would inflict glancing blows them more than anything, but enough to for them to back off or face certain destruction. The bravebird would then pass by the fighters, and the rest of the cloakshapes would now be nuisance chasing it down, whiel Aden flies parallel to the length of the corvette, where the main guns can shoot them "Now is your chance".

Aden hasn't lost sight of the skiprays which are going to make another attack run or soon he thinks, he wonders if the pirates will continue on since their freighter containing their boarding parties is gone.

The gundecks on the side Aden passed on would begin to fire a volley, the resulting fire both confusing the cloakshapes and destroying all but one pursuing the Bravebird. The Grievous would then shift, it's nose gliding past to intercept the remaining cloakshape.

Despite the pirates best attempts, the dark of space would glow with the explosion of his ship along the Corvettes shields. "You're all clear, Aden." Vrash would say over the comms. "Moving to re-engage the skiprays, hopefully they will wizen up."

The convoy itself had continued on, rather unscathed with several of the other defense ships maintaining their protection of the merchant fleet. The Grievous would try to gain altitude, shifting back to be broadside for the attack. And though they were a fast ship, the Skiprays were definitely gonna be a challenge for them.

Aden smiled beneath his helmet when those fighters went down courtesy of the Grievous. These poor pirates didn't know what hit them until it's too late. The young pilot was making evasive manuevers against the lone cloakshape pursuing him. And those Skipyrays have to be dealt with. But the situation looks pitiful for them. Their boarding vessel is gone, which may or may not have contained their captain. The Republic transports are far away at this point and they have little in the way of extracting goods from them or disabling them even if they manage to get past the Bravebird and the Grievous.

If they can surrender, then that would be fine. As long as they stand down. They can flee or turn themselves in, but the moment they cease hostility then this mission is done. If they had back-up he'd imagine they would have entered the fray already.

"Remaining Blood Eagle vessels, this is your only chance to cease hostilities and flee the system. Over half your flight is gone, your boarding vessel is destroyed, you can't get past us. If you value your lives, step aside or accept your demise" he said with stern authority.

As Aden's ship and his pursuer were going at full speed, he'd stop the throttle, and then re-route power from engines to weapons. The cloakshape would fly past him, and Aden would simply adjust the nose of his ship, and fire a flurry of cannon shots that would destroy the remaining cloak ship, letting it explode in to pieces.

With that, the Skiprays would have no fighter-support and it just be them remaining. With that after some silence, the Skiprays would back off, splitting up and heading outwards in order to escape to hyper space as they would retreat.

With that, looks like they took him up on the last chance. Aden would breathe a sigh of relief. "Well, that was fun while it lasted." he said to his partner. Aden's ship was was still unmoving at the moment. Vrash can pursue them if the rest if he wants, but Aden thinks he is done. Even if they flee, still the Republic ships would make it to their destination and job is still complete.

As Aden hailed the pirate ships, the Grievous would turn to firing warning shots to keep them from re-engaging. They knew that the pirates had lost more than they would ever had hoped and that alone would crush most crews. Vrash would say a silent prayer for those that died. Not all pirates were evil, some were just honest men, driven to piracy.

The Grievous would continue to fire half-hearted shots at the pirates as they fled, only enough to cause shields to fizzle out, and maybe make some pilots piss themselves. A roaring cheer could be heard from the crew aboard the Greivous as Vrash activated his comm. "Good flying, boy. You may have a future after this. Let me know if you're looking for work. I could use some aces."

He'd look to the helmsman. "Get us back with the fleet. Radio the Senator, tell her we've succeeded."

Aden didn't give chase as the pirates started running with a tail between their legs. The weapons on his ship remained powered on, until the last of the Skiprays left into hyperspace. It looked like a smalishl band of pirates, maybe it's been shattered with the losses they took. Or they could be part of a bigger group that they will be seeing again some day.

But anyways, with that, Aden would then turn around and make his way back towards the aid convoy with speed. The pirate threat was been thwarted, and more are unlikely to show up, Aden was ready for more combat if needed, but at this point it became clear that they are home free. Aden would smile beneath his helmet. With that, he would respond to Vrash's praise. "Thanks a lot. And I'll be sure to reach out" he said. Work is always good, keeps pays for expenses, keeps him busy and active.

Anyways, with that, Aden would keep with the convoy as they make their way into the atmosphere ready to land and distribute aid. Aden thinks he will land in the nearest starport and get a drink and refuel.
