Sutton Rayne is a prominent politician and lawyer, serving as the current Senator for Commenor in the New Republic.

Sutton Rayne was born in 103 ABY in Chasin City to a firmly respectable family. Her father ran a modest law firm on Commenor dealing with business affairs, whilst her mother worked as a university professor. In her youth, Sutton showed great promise academically and thrived in school. She studied Law at the University of Commenor, followed by a stint working at an exceptional Sentient Rights firm on Coruscant.

When she returned to her homeworld in her late 20s, Sutton joined a smaller company focusing on the rights of sentient beings in business, helping to bring cases against exploitative workforces, corrupt immigration laws and denied asylum applications. In her spare time, she began to take an interest in local politics, hoping to improve her homeworld somewhat.

Following the tumultuous events of the previous few years, Sutton began to push for change in Commenorian politics. The rearrangement of the Galactic political environment provided a suitable moment. Sutton pushed herself into the candidacy for Senator following an early retirement. Her campaign promises included lobbying for better representation for more distant Republic worlds, a greater emphasis on education funding and good relations with other governmental organisations in the Galaxy. She also spoke positively about the establishment of the Galactic Senate.

Confident, competent and forthright, Sutton Rayne is well-spoken but firm, using politeness and tact as a starting point before hitting hard. An experienced lawyer, Sutton understands legal language and has a good working understanding of the laws of the New Republic. Politically, she is a staunch supporter of broader sentient rights, economic liberalisation and further support for poorer communities in and around the Republic. Personally, she is an affable and sometimes charming woman with a penchant for well-cooked food, expensive cocktails and snazzy suits. She has no significant other and has always been public about her preference towards women.
