DESCRIPTION​

The T-18 Skyskimmer is an airspeeder manufactured by the Incom-Freitek as a successor to the old T-16 Skyhopper. One of the company's best-selling atmospheric models, the T-18 is a fast, highly maneuverable craft, well suited to racing, aerobatic displays, elementary flight training and even crop-dusting. Aimed at the same markets as its predecessor, it has found a good degree of success.

The Skyskimmer differs from the old Skyhopper primarily in its configuration, with a low, detached, horizontal airfoil rather than the tri-foil wings of its predecessor. It has a tandem cockpit with space for a pilot and a single passenger, plus 100 kilograms of cargo and 2 days worth of consumables. Top speed is 1,500 kph, 300 kph faster than the Skyhopper. Like their predecessor, Skyskimmers are known to be a match for most starfighters at low altitude in terms of speed and maneuverability.

Skyskimmers can be armed, with a cockpit-mounted targeting computer and a retractable medium laser cannon available as options. Equipped with these features, Skyskimmers make for effective light combat airspeeders, and are used by various militias and law enforcement agencies for this purpose. They are, of course, also quite popular with adventurers, farmers and restless teenagers on backrocket worlds, although possession of the armament option is restricted on most civilized planets.

LEGALITY​

Legal. Though optionally armed, the T-18 Skyskimmer is considered a civilian airspeeder by most governments, and is fairly simple to get hold of.
