DESCRIPTION
The T-47 airspeeder is an atmospheric combat craft originally manufactured by the Incom Corporation prior to and during the Galactic Civil War. Originally designed as a heavy towing vehicle, the type was intended to latch onto large repulsor barges with a rear-mounted magnetic harpoon and move them from place to place within a planet's atmosphere. Unfortunately for Incom, only a few production runs of this unarmed version had been complete before the Galactic Empire moved to seize the company's assets after it had been discovered they had been selling advanced T-65B X-Wing starfighters to the Rebel Alliance. Before the hammer came down, however, Incom executives managed to deliver the remaining T-47s in inventory - plus a full set of production tooling - to the Rebels, leading to the creation of perhaps one of the most iconic light combat aircraft of the entire war.

Rebel T-47s were modified by their new owners, receiving armored hull plating, more powerful engines and - perhaps most notably - a pair of heavy blaster cannons for ground and air attack duty. The magnetic harpoon and tow cable were retained, as was the rear "gunner" position, allowing the T-47 to continue in its cargo-hauling duties when not in combat. Rebel pilots did find novel combat uses for the harpoon, however; famously, T-47 pilots at the Battle of Hoth used them to entangle the legs of AT-AT walkers, tripping up the armored behemoths and destroying several. The type proved exceptionally versatile as well; Rebel engineers found that the T-47 could be modified to function in almost any environment imaginable, from the frigid cold of Hoth to the ash-choked heat of Mustafar.

After the end of the Galactic Civil War, the T-47 was largely retired from New Republic service, but not before it had inspired a range of equally competent, purpose-built successors, the most recent of which is the T-87 built by Incom-FreiTek. Despite its supposed obsolescence, however, the T-47 still occasionally sees use by various groups in the present day, being easy to fly and maintain even under adverse conditions.

LEGALITY
Restricted. T-47s are combat craft, and are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To bring a vehicle from Canon into our site's fanon.

RESTRICTIONS
T-47 airspeeders are military craft, with military-grade weapons and construction, and enough firepower to decimate whole squads of infantry and even heavy vehicles. In PvP, this speeder can only be used against other ships or vehicles; it is to be treated as a starfighter, and is bound by same restrictions starfighters are.
