DESCRIPTION
The T-85 X-Wing starfighter is a successor design to the venerable T-70 X-Wing. Itself replaced by the even further improved T-90 X-Wing, the T-85 was nevertheless one of the Galaxy's most advanced snubfighters for many decades, serving as the main fighter of the New Republic Navy until recently. It remains on the market, and still commands a premium, being superior to most of its competition in terms of speed, firepower and technical sophistication.

The T-85 follows the standard X-Wing configuration, albeit reversing the trend of miniaturization started by the T-70, being a larger design than either of its predecessors. Incorporating the standard 4 medium laser cannons and 2 proton torpedo launchers, the T-85's advantage over the T-70 mostly lies in its speed - a full 10 MGLT over the T-70 - and improved sensor capabilities, which are able to generate much higher resolution readings than previous models, allowing for precision targeting and detailed reconnaissance.

Though it has been phased out of New Republic service with the adoption of the T-90, the T-85 remains in use with various planetary militias, law enforcement agencies and mercenaries. Though generally outside the price range of the average civilian, the type is highly prized by those who can afford it, and coveted by those who cannot.
