DESCRIPTION
T4 turret droids are heavily armed combat automata originally developed by the Colicoid Creation Nest in the decades prior to the Clone Wars. Developed alongside the smaller, arguably more versatile Droideka, the T4 is less mobile, not incorporating the ability to roll into a ball for high-speed travel, but is meant as a dedicate sentry, standing more or less in place and dealing with enemies as they come. The droid served in the army of the Trade Federation, among others, and was in active military service during the early stages of the Clone Wars, although it was eventually superseded by more advanced models.

The T4 is a hulking machine, standing a full 3.5 meters in height and armored with a thick plasteel casing which can resist medium blaster fire. It is essentially a semi-mobile turret for a pair of medium rotary blaster cannons, mounted one on each side of the main body of the droid, which can be retracted for protection from the elements or enemy fire. These weapons are capable of shredding anything from infantry up to light vehicles, and have a blistering rate of fire which is not to be trifled with. The droid moves on 4 legs, and if it has any weaknesses, it can be said to be slow; its legs are also not as heavily armored as the main body, making them an obvious weak-point.

T4s are exceedingly rare in the present day, having been retired as front-line units by the Confederacy of Independent Systems mid-way through the conflict in favor of more versatile droids. Many were scrapped, although a number also served in second-line roles and wound up on the black market after the war ended. They remain highly desirable in the present.

LEGALITY
Illegal. Heavy combat droids such as the T4 are highly restricted under interstellar law, with personal ownership being banned. Special licenses for guard use by corporations and other groups may be granted under certain circumstances.

INTENT
To bring a droid from Legends canon into our site's fanon.

RESTRICTIONS
A T4 is an exceptionally rare and expensive piece of equipment, with individual ownership being difficult in the present day, although not impossible. Individual characters cannot own T4s, with only factions having access to them.
