DESCRIPTION
The T7 series is an antique model of astromech droid which was first manufactured by Duwani Mechanical Products around 3,800 BBY. One of the earliest true astromech droids, the T7 incorporated features from earlier utility models such as the T3, combined with - for the time - advanced mathematical hardware that allowed it to perform hyperspace calculations without the aid of an external computer. Among the most advanced droids available at the time of its release, the T7 series was suitably expensive, and though it was technically a commercial success for Duwani it would never see anything like the sales of the later R2 series by Industrial Automaton.

The T7 series, like the T3 before it, can be considered a prototype for what would ultimately become the modern astromech feature set and form factor. Equipped with a relatively comprehensive toolkit and the ability to plot hyperspace vectors on the fly, it can also fly nearly any kind of starship and even operate weapon systems. The T7 has a roughly conical head turret and a boxy chassis, running on wheeled legs. Notably, T7s were popular for conversion into assassin droids, the modular nature of their design making it easy for underworld types to install bombs, blasters and other weapons.

In the present day, as with most antique droids, the T7 is exceedingly rare in working condition. They are considered immensely collectible.

LEGALITY
Legal. Astromech droids such as the T7 are permitted in most regions of the Galaxy.

INTENT
To bring an interesting droid from Legends to the site.
