THERE HAS BEEN AN AWAKENING // Jedi Order and the Republic
-
Following the Reclamation of Tython, the Jedi Order has slowly reestablished itself at its heart at the Jedi Temple on the Deep Core world of Tython. But while the Jedi Order celebrates a well-deserved victory, for one Jedi, Tython was not the end of the story, but a beginning...
As the shrunken Jedi High Council attempts to recover following several tragic losses during the shadow war, one of their members, Wyck, begins to experience troubled visions about a dark creature. Troubled by these visions, and the appearance of a creature like it during the Reclamation of Tython, Wyck decides to construct his own holocron detailing the Hundred-Year Darkness, the rise of the Sith, and several Force powers that allow a Jedi to counter them and their armies in the hopes that the knowledge might be used by future generations to stop the Sith—should they persist beyond his lifetime—and monsters like the one he saw on Tython and in his visions.
Coinciding with this, the Jedi Council receives a report that a monstrous creature has been unearthed during mining exercises on Tanaab. Due to the recent reawakening of several abominations, the Council elects, with the invitation of the Republic, to send Wyck and a team of Jedi to Tanaab to investigate. The Republic dispatches its own team to observe and record the Jedi's findings for a full report to the Senate. But neither team is prepared for the events that will unfold upon reaching Tanaab, when what starts as a simple investigation turns into an apocalyptic battle for survival, both for themselves and the people of Tanaab.
But, perhaps most surprising of all, is that the events of Tanaab are not as random as they initially seem, bringing Wyck face-to-face with his past in the greatest test the Jedi Master has ever faced in his nearly-two centuries alive... -
1. What is going to happen in your plot?
Wyck sets out to create his own Jedi holocron detailing the Hundred-Year Darkness, the rise of the Sith, and methods for defeating the Sith and their armies. His journey will unexpectedly take him, a team of Jedi, and a team of investigators from the Republic Senate, to the planet Tanaab, where the most dangerous remnants of the Hundred-Year Darkness ever uncovered awaken and threaten to eliminate all life on Tanaab unless both teams find a way to stop them once and for all. A twist in the adventure will bring the Jedi Council member face-to-face with his past in his most dangerous test yet.
2. What other players will be a part of this?
Myself as @Wyck and @Aurora Adasca, along with any other Jedi and Republic character that wants to join
3. Where are all the places (if more than one) that your plot will be taking place?
Tython, Coruscant, and Tanaab
4. Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen.
Act I: Dreadful Premonitions (4 threads)
- Having constructed the housing box for his holocron, complete with a kyber memory crystal, Wyck begins to record the first bits of content for the device, but is interrupted and summoned back to the Jedi Council chambers on Tython to be informed of a grim discovery on Tanaab. (Jedi thread)
- The Republic Senate is convened to discuss who the body will send to Tanaab to act as the Republic's representatives in the investigation. (Republic thread)
- The Republic's investigation team is the first to reach Tanaab. However, before they can reach the site, their ship is attacked by an unseen assailant. The survivors must then make the trek to a nearby settlement so they can send a transmission requesting aid from the Jedi investigation team, but they are pursued along the way by more deadly assailants. (Republic thread)
- The Jedi are the second to reach Tanaab, but are the first to reach the excavation site. Though curious as to why the Republic didn't arrive before them, as planned, the Jedi proceed with the investigation and are informed that three more sites like the one they are at have been discovered since the initial reports were made to the Republic Senate. However, before they are able to process this information, an S.O.S. transmission is received from the Republic investigation team, and, shortly after (and rather conveniently), the creature at the dig site wakes up and goes on a rampage. (Jedi thread)
Act II: Armageddon (6 threads)
- It's a race against time as the Jedi rush to the site of the Republic investigation team. In the meantime, the members of the Republic team must do everything they can to survive as a Leviathan attacks the settlement they have been using for refuge. (Jedi/Republic thread)
- Both teams note how convenient the attacks, up until now, have been and begin to suspect foul play. But there is no time to mount an investigation. Splitting up once more, the Jedi team ventures to the site of one of the other two remaining dormant Leviathans, hoping to prevent its resurrection. But a blast from Wyck's past awaits them there, and it may spell doom for Tanaab. (Jedi thread)
- Meanwhile, the Republic team ventures via boat to the final site with a dormant Leviathan: in the middle of Tanaab's deepest ocean. Unfortunately, the team doesn't arrive in time to stop the beast's awakening, but all hope isn't lost. The newly awakened Leviathan is a different variation: one more equipped for life in the sea. But it takes longer to wake up than the others, giving them a window to kill it while it is still weakened. (Republic thread)
- With two of the Leviathans dead, the remaining two, and the mysterious figure from Wyck's past, converge on the capital of Tanaab, bringing with them Force storms and destruction. The Jedi and the Republic team up to evacuate as many civilians as possible, ahead of what is likely to be a highly destructive battle. (Jedi/Republic thread)
- As the battle for the survival of Tanaab begins, both the Jedi and the Republic face off against both remaining Leviathans in the planet's capital city. The odds are against them, but their victory is Tanaab's only hope for survival. And their failure would not only spell doom for Tanaab, but other worlds as well. (Jedi/Republic thread)
- At the same time, elsewhere in the city, Wyck squares off against the mysterious figure from his past in a life-or-death duel with similar stakes as the concurrent battle against the Leviathans. To win, Wyck will need to face his demons and his past. And his victory has never been more important, as the loss of the one controlling them would certainly weaken the Leviathans his comrades are facing. (Jedi thread)
Act III: The Aftermath (1 thread)
- Wyck returns to Tython and delivers his report to the Jedi Council. His holocron is complete, and now includes an entry on Leviathans.
Total: 11 threads
5. What do you or your character hope to achieve with this plot? What is the "end-game"?
Wyck intends to create his own holocron, but the main achievement of this story is to illuminate a bit of Wyck's backstory and develop his character a bit beyond the sagely old Jedi Master he is commonly known as.
6. Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member? If so, please detail who/what and for what purpose.
I will need someone to DM the NPC Jedi Council members in Thread 1 and the Vice-Chancellor in Thread 2. I will also need a DM for threads 5, 6, 9, and 10. The rest can be dice-rolled and self-DMed. I have notes and ideas for the DMs on their relevant threads, so, whomever decides to DM these, get in touch with me.
