Jaikus could not deny the sick sense of satisfaction that he felt in that moment, watching as tendrils of violet lightning began to sink into the Jedi’s skin. There was no history between the two. Jaikus did not even know who the man was. But Byron had become an obstacle in the Axxilan’s path that would not be tolerated for a moment longer.

Nothing would stand between him and what mattered most.

Distinct pangs of pain – pain felt by the man he loved - still radiated from Dantooine, washing over Jaikus like a tidal wave via the bond that they shared. It filled the Axxilan with profound agony beyond anything physical, and it filled the Axxilan with unbridled rage - channeled directly into the Darkness that poured from his outstretched hand now. He drew upon every ounce of natural strength he possessed, and drew deeper still from the raw energies all around him.

More so than anyone else on Telos, Jaikus was attuned to the strength of the Nexus. It has been his own energies that had helped to corrupt it into its present state, and it meant that the Axxilan thrived within it now. Jaikus drank deep from the dark font of Force energy, citrine eyes shifting to raw, animalistic yellows that burned molten beneath his mask. It served to replenish his own reserves, and it empowered his electrical assault beyond natural means.

It was enough to completely overwhelm the attempted Tutaminis, and as soon as Tiamat was safely out of the way, Jaikus attempted to unleash the full potency of his lighting upon the vulnerable, wounded Byron. The very air around them bristled with galvanic energy, causing hairs to stand on edge as lightning cracked and hissed from his fingertips.

If successful, the stream of electricity would travel through Byron’s left arm and towards his center mass, snaking across his torso with unyielding, lethal fury. It would feel as if the fallen Jedi had suddenly been set ablaze, the air suddenly filled with the sickening stench of flesh, hair and clothing burning – blackening and charring beyond recognition. The very blade lodged in Byrons' ribs would act as a conduit for the lightning, superheating until the metal glowed molten. Every muscle in the Jedi Knight’s body would contract and spasm, fighting against the current of power that wickedly through his body.

With unyielding ferocity, the Axxilan poured every ounce of his concentration and strength into his electrical assault – refusing to cease until nothing remained but the burnt, blackened husk of what once was Byron Ryker.

The Jedi tried to defend against the might of the three Sith, the Jedi failed. He might have found wisdom at the end of his life to turn from the Light, but they had been raised in the Darkness. The power of the Nexus around them bent to their wills more strongly than it could to his. He was just knocking on the door, while they were feasting in the heat of the hearth at the very heart of these halls. There was never much chance. But she had to commend him from trying, which was more than she could say for most. And in honor of that she did not let go, she would see this through.

As Tiamat's blade sunk into his flesh, Ashla held on with her grip on his neck. As Jaikus shot lightning at him, she held on with her grip on his neck. And as the Jedi's body slowly crumbled under the power of the Dark Side, she held on. Till there was nothing to hold on to, ash crumbled under her grip, and as her steps finally brought her to come stand where the Jedi had once stood, she finally let go.

Finally, she let go of the Force, and as the Dark Side slipped away, she felt a pang at its loss that she hadn't felt before. But then she had never tapped into the heart of the Nexus to help take a life. A part of her realized that she could get used to this, and that filled her with a simple desire. She had to become stronger, so that she did not have to rely on a Nexus, or other Sith, to feel such power.

"Is is done?" She asked as she stood there, waiting for the metaphorical penny to drop to let them know it was time to move.

The last moments of the man who had killed himself by proxy were wracked with unspeakable pain. The electrical energy arching out and conducting through his body. Tiamat wrenched herself free but left the vibroblade in his side. His hand that had clamped down on it. Orenth's jaws opened as wide as they could as he howled in pain. Tendrils of electricity jumped from his top and bottom teeth before outlining the skeleton of the man. It was blinding to look at and worse to feel.

One step forward and he stubbornly pulled the vibroblade from his side. The electricity kept him from releasing it though, his arm muscles seized tightly around the grip of the weapon to the point of crushing the handle and breaking its vibration capability. Orenth's eyes rolled into the back of his head before they too burned away. There wasn't much for him to think back on, not a long life he lived. In every sense of the word Byron Ryker was dead.

She watched in silence, unmoved as the man succumbed to his injuries and to the ongoing destructive lightning from Jaikus. Ashla ensured he didn't have a chance to regain any composure. She found it disappointing that Byron had spiraled into whoever now stood in his place, or now laid on the ground in charred husk. Perhaps after all he didn't think of her as she thought he did. The redheaded woman found herself charmed at times, but there was that underlying feeling never to entirely trust him, each time their paths crossed, never did he ask her to come with him.

But he was gone, and Tiamat heard Ashla speak.

"Stick a fork in him and check." she stated flatly, "Grab what you want. Let's go." she directed, turning on her heel to find a new exit.

Lacking a fork to actually follow up on Tiamat's suggestion, Ashla bent down and inspected what remained of the Jedi, spotting the gauntlets in the ashen remains as she poked away some clothes. She remembered seeing him deflecting her shots with the things, and the fact that they had survived the lightning more or less unshcathed even though other pieces of metal the man on his seemed to have melted and warped under the Champion's attack, told her that they might be special.

Gingerly picking up the gauntlets, she flinched as the arms just snapped off as she tried to pull them off. Holding the gauntlets by the fingers as she straightened, she slapped them against each other to let the ash trapped inside fall off. She could already see that they were much too big for her, and didn't really seem her style. But if there was indeed something special about them then she was sure they would come in handy.

Hopping and skipping a little as she left, to shake off the ash from her boots, she began walking after Tiamat.

In those moments – as the lightning sprang from his fingertips and claimed the tore through the body of Byron Ryker – Jaikus silent as a crypt. There was no howl or fury, nor a single word that passed his lips. Instead, the Axxilan poured all of his concentration into his assault. And he simply watched.

Jaikus watched as lightning ravaged the fallen Jeid’s body, causing every muscle and limb to seize up and convulse. He watched as the man’s skin shifted from its natural hues to blistering red, only to blacken and char within mere moments. He watched as the electricity jumped between the man’s top and bottom teeth with overwhelming fury, polished bone shattering apart and turning to ash in the man’s mouth.

With eyes of animalistic yellow, Jaikus observed as the life faded from Byron’s eyes. He observed as that single obstacle – the one standing between him and what truly mattered – was eliminated.

And finally, it was done. The stream of galvanic power finally fizzled and died from Jaikus’ fingertips, allowing the fallen Jedi – or rather what remained of him – to collapse lifelessly to the ground. There was nothing about Byron which was recognizable from before, his remains blackened and half-disintegrated as it hit the ground. Smoke rose in lazy wisps from the tips of the Axxilan’s gloved fingers, even as they fell back limply to his side.

Tiamat made her comments, and Ashla reached for the gauntlets, and Jaikus did not care in the slightest. His mind was somewhere else entirely, and there was nothing on Telos that was worth even a fraction of his attention. Instead, Jaikus reached for the datapad on his hip, immediately jotting down and sending a flurry of messages as he walked, followed by multiple frantic calls.

Just as Ashla started to pluck the gauntlets from Byron’s hands, Jaikus strode right through – quite literally crossing over the top of the dead man in the process. As such, he stepped right on top of the blackened remains of Byron’s ribcage and skull as he crossed. He barely even noticed the way that his boots sunk back to the temple floor, crushing the fallen Jedi’s remains into blackened ash beneath the weight of purposeful, methodical steps.

“Come,” He said simply, calling back to his comrades with an uncharacteristic curtness to his voice.

Whether Tiamat or Ashla chose to follow him or not was entirely up to them, and Axxilan made no further efforts to convince them along. He strode right ahead, grey ash clinging to his boot and leaving a small trail as he forged a path ahead.

Methodical steps carried him deeper into the temple, and it was very clear by the way Jaikus moved that he knew where he was going. He vividly remembered every detail and passageway of Telos, and he knew there was another exit to this place. He would take that exit, and he would return to his ship without another word.

And he would go to the one thing that truly mattered.
