The Telos Temple is an ancient, abandoned Jedi Temple built on the planet Telos IV. Established upon the location of a Force Nexus, the Jedi temple is curiously built atop a subterranean Sith shrine dating back to the Hundred Year Darkness.

History
The Telos temple is an ancient Jedi temple built high atop the snow-capped mountains of the planet Telos IV. It is believed to have been constructed during the High Republic Era, during what many consider to be the golden age of the Jedi. Members of the Order were originally drawn to the location by a powerful Dark-side presence in the Force, originated from the remote mountainous area. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the planet was host to an ancient Sith Shrine, believed to date back to the Hundred Year Darkness. Erected around a powerful nexus of the Force, the ancient Sith are believed to have used this location to practice their twisted arts of Sith Alchemy, drawing upon the power of the nexus to push the limits of what was possible – thus forever corrupting the location. Having been driven to extinction by the Jedi after centuries of war, the shrine was eventually sealed and abandoned by the last of the ancient Sith in an effort to protect the secrets within from any who would dare pillage them.

Unable to destroy the shrine and unwilling to leave it unguarded, the Jedi built the Telos Temple above - hopeful that the presence of numerous light-side adepts would neutralize its dark energies, while also ensuring that the shrine remained under consistent security, protected against any Dark-sider who might think to utilize the location.

With the Great Jedi Purge and emergence of the Galactic Empire at the end of the Clone Wars, the temple was left abandoned for years. Discovered by the Galactic Empire at the onset of the Galatic civil war, much of the temple’s contents were looted and efforts were made to breach the entrance to the Sith Shrine, but the escalation of the Galactic Civil War saw resources diverted and the project eventually being abandoned.

Description
Remote and isolated, the Jedi Temple is situated high within the frigid mountains of Telos IV. Sheer cliffs and icy terrain make the temple accessible only by ship, relegating all arrivals onto a small landing pad located at the outskirts of the temple grounds. Looting by the Empire has left the interior of the temple stripped clean of all its valuables. Despite this the temple remains largely intact, with most structures existing as they have for hundreds of years. It has tranquil meditation rooms, a sparring ground, library and multiple levels of dormitories. The temple is crowned by a single spire, dedicated to the nameless Jedi master who founded the temple centuries ago. Interestingly, much of the temple’s internal circuitry and computers are still functional, making it a prime candidate for restoration.

Located at the temple’s lowest level and guarded behind multiple security measures is a long, stone passageway carved into the very mountain itself. The narrow tunnel eventually widens into a large antechamber, containing the entrance to the Sith shrine. The entrance is sealed by a triangular stone slab several meters thick, its smooth surface etched with runes written in the ancient Sith language. Two identical stone pedestals are situated on either side of the entrance, worn with age and serving a purpose yet unknown to any who have yet explored the chamber. The method to open the shrine died long ago with the ancient Sith, thus resulting in the shrine having remained sealed for over a millennia despite numerous attempts by the Jedi to open it. Prolonged exposure to even the entrance of the shrine has been known to inflict hallucinations, nightmares and feelings of dread in numerous Jedi over the years.

While no creature living today has glimpsed the interior of the caverns with their own eyes, basic scans dating to the Imperial era show the shrine’s interior to be carved far deeper into the mountain than initially thought, just as large as the Jedi temple built above. It is filled with multiple levels of maze-like corridors and dead-end passageways, with a single path eventually connecting to six circular chambers at the heart of the complex. What is housed within remains a mystery, with many speculating that there remain artifacts within the shrine which dating back several thousand years.

To establish a lore location with significance to both Jedi and Sith, with the potential of being utilized in threads/plots by both factions, given the desire.
For the Sith, a multi-chaptered plot could be developed around opening this extra-spooky shrine and delve inside, exploring its secrets and reclaim any artifacts located inside. For the Jedi, there could be a plot developed around reclaiming and restoring the Temple to be used as a future RP location for the Order.

It will also serve as the primary location of a future thread involving one of my characters.

Edits: Correcting grammatical errors that my dense self is just now noticing. Not changing any of the content/lore surrounding the location.
