"Yes, she is in the ca-"

Theia didn't wait for the attendant at the desk to finish speaking before Theia took off, she was much too excited to wait for him to finish, plus she had a feeling of where she would be able to find her. Leaving her bags behind, the blur of the red head sped through the commons, cutting through the gardens and nearly hopping the gate if it wasn't for startled old woman who seemed to be taken aback by the sudden appearance of the redheaded teen. Cutting through, she found herself on the patio of the cafe looking to see where Jayna was seated. She slowed her pace, feeling the eyes of all the guests of the hotel watching her as she paused.

The girl grinned, seeing the distinct woman with her silver eyes, "JAAAAAAYYYYNAAAAAA!" She yelled, skipping over to the young woman and wrapping her arms around her before she could have a moment to fully process who had arrived. Though the red hair would give it away quickly. The girl would eventually take a seat, seeming awe-struck which was a norm for any time she visited the twins. They were perhaps her favorite, having grown up a few years behind them, Theia looked for any and every excuse she could find to hang out. Luckily she was able to tie it in for her school work and that seemed to be the most difficult part, to actually sit down and type up everything without getting too distracted.

"So when are we leaving for this meeting?"

Jayna meticulously glanced over her Datapad notes - dragging her finger across the screen to swipe every so often. For weeks, the Heiress had prepared for this meeting - gathering her days and working diligently to secure the attendance of key diplomats, nobility and wealthy figures across Cinnagar. For all the ways that she was capable of keeping a cool head, even Jayna couldn’t help the nerves that bubbled down within the pits of her stomach.

Alongside Leon, Jayna had begun to actively work against the Mining Guild - exposing their abuses of workers and drawing media attention to the issue. For decades, the ruling class had turned a blind eye to the plight of their own people - and the Heiress had every intention of changing that. While proposing an alternative solution.

Of course, there were parts of the operation that she was eagerly looking forward to - namely being able to incorporate her younger cousin. She had always been especially close to Theia, and welcomed the opportunity to get the girl involved in politics. As far as she was concerned, their family had a legacy to uphold. Jayna stressed just how important the entire operation was, and was mostly confident that Theia would be on best behavior as a result.

Waiting at the cafe, Jayna was already dressed for the occasion - sporting a designer gown, custom made by Bonheur. Her dark hair was tied up into a loose bun, pinned with a floral clip that matched her jasmine perfume. A simple cup of espresso was placed in front of her, decorated with form on the rim.

It wasn’t until her cousin arrived that Jayna glanced up - immediately wrapped in the younger girls arms. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips, prompting Jayna to return the gesture with a light squeeze. “Theia,” She said sweetly. “It’s so good to see you,” Jayna said whilst brushing back some of the red hair.

“Looking forward to this, I take it?” She said, gesturing for the girl to make herself comfortable. “Just a couple minutes. Just in case you want to go over anything before the speeder comes to pick us up.”

Theia's wide grin remained as Jayna greeted her, surprisingly letting her brush some of her hair back as she had made it clear to her mom it was not cool to do that anymore. She took a seat adjacent to her Thorne cousin, mentally noting how underdressed she felt in comparison to Jayna's gown. It reminded her of the evening star sky and she felt herself flooded with the memories of looking at them for hours, even when she had sleepovers with Jayna, she would be up well past her bedtime, seemingly fascinated with the trillions of lights that speckled the sky.

Though for herself, she wore her school uniform, hoping to make a good impression not only for Jayna but for whoever they were meeting with today. To her mother's shock, she had taken the time to iron her shirt and skirt, polish her shoes, and even fully brushed out her hair.

"I'm super excited." she said, finding it hard to even sit still; she felt as though she could run a thousand laps around the city and the redhead took a deep breath. "What if they decide they don't want to meet with you? What are you going to do?" she asked, "Has that ever happened? You get there and they say get out of here?"

Jayna casually settled back into her chair - allowing her gaze to linger on Theia for a few moments longer. Despite her non-expressive demeanor, the Thorne deeply cared about her cousin - and it manifested in the small smile that tugged at her lips. She drew her finger across the rim of her espresso, nodding a bit when her cousin spoke. “Good,” She said simply.

The Thorne lifted her cup to take a sip, allowing a pause of silence before answering the question. “It would certainly make for a short meeting,” She said with a hint of amusement. “Fortunately, most people are all-to-eager to meet a member of our family.” Jayna said with an air of confidence. The Heiress knew exactly the weight and value that her name carried throughout the Galaxy, and had no qualms leveraging it at every opportunity. It was one more weapon in her arsenal, and one that she would use to achieve her goals.

“Some of them may not wish to meet with me,” She said with a shrug. “But I’ve confirmed the attendance of a few key figures.” She passed the datapad to Theia. “Duke Theodus Leto, Eara Daragon from the Shipwright’s Association,” She flicked through the confirmed guest list. “All important members of the aristocracy, who would happily accept an invitation from the daughter of President Thorne. The rest will attend merely to follow on the footsteps of the former two,” Appearances were everything. If the most important nobility on the planet were in attendance, others would follow. “I’ll have my opportunity to convince them, I’m sure.”

Jayna glanced across the table, tilting her head ever-so-slightly. “You look rather nice.” She was used to her cousins more frump attire, and was pleasantly surprised by the school uniform and crisp presentation.

Just then, the speed pulled against the side of the road - doors opening to reveal a protocol droid waiting for the both of them. Jayna promptly rose from her seat, brushing a hand across her gown. “Shall we?”

Theia knew no doubt people wanted to meet with her; she had to be careful at her school after name dropping where she was going one summer. Her class became split on if she knew the Thornes or not, to the point, she backpedaled on the information and had to deal with the social fallout for "lying" about knowing such individuals. Luckily, she had a gift of charm and the social angst only lasted for a week or so until the next big story broke among another peer. Though at times, Theia didn't understand the big deal, knowing Jayna, Ezra, and their parents was like nothing too special, it wasn't that she got any superpowers or anything from it.

Regardless, if it helped Jayna in her work, Theia was there to support and learn from her, hoping there would be a day where she could sway and persuade others as she did. She took the datapad as the Thorne woman slid it to her, reading over the briefs that were presented with each photo of whom they were to be meeting with shortly. It took much willpower for the teen not to make a face to some of the pictures, questioning if there was some breeding too close to the family tree at one point.

Jayna commented about how she looked, which took the girl by surprise and her face turned as bright red as her hair. "Thank you!" she wiggled with bashfulness in her seat, luckily, their speeder would arrive. "I'm ready!" she sprung to her feet, following Jayna to the speeder.

Jayna merely nodded when Theia declared that she was ready for the meeting ahead of them. If the quarter-Sephi was nervous, she didn’t allow any of that to manifest across her otherwise neutral expression. “After you,” She gestured towards the luxury speeder, allowing Theia to enter before doing so herself

It was only a short flight towards the venue for their event. The penthouse estate was modest by Thorne standards, but still spoke to the luxury and influence of the Tetan upper class. Jayna wasn’t about to elaborate on how she’d managed go acquire the estate and accompanying title for herself, nor discuss the old man she’d set up and blackmailed in the process. Instead, Jayna stepped out of the speeder and onto the landing platform - extending a hand for Theia to follow her.

The Thorne Heiress towered over most in attendance - as only the first few individuals began to filter onto the main hall. Men and women in expensive and somewhat elaborate attire flitted about the room, drinking from expensive drinks she had acquired earlier that evening.

“I’ll gather the important figures once they arrive to discuss,” She glanced towards Theia. “For now.. Socialize.” Jayna gestured the girl forward and towards the crowds. Politics was often a game of playing allegiances and affections, and being able to make a positive impression would go a long way towards selling her idea to them.

Jayna began to make her own way across the room - flashing the manufactured smile that she’d picked up from both of her parents. Theia would have the option to follow the Heiress and whoever she met with, or strike out on her own somewhere else in the gathering of nobility and corporate elites.

The ride there was just as exciting for the teen as she seemed to have her gaze glued to the city's buildings, cascading to the depths of the lower cities near the surface of Empress Teta. Though she had seen Coruscant and many other city-worlds, she still felt in awe when she visited a new one. The girl had grown accustomed to smaller centers and villages on Corellia and Naboo, her mom preferring the quiet and ease compared to herself where she felt starved for stimulation by the lights, design and novelty of these places.

Though as they approached and when Theia exited the speeder, she suddenly felt her nerves catch up; her stomach turned uncomfortably. She was unsure where it came from, was it because these were really important individuals, people like her mother met with also, or perhaps she felt underdressed, seeing some of the more elaborate robes that the galaxy had to offer. Jayna pulled her attention as she gave instructions; the idea to mingle and socialize, it couldn't be that hard? She tried to think about the confidence her mom had when she entered the room. Everyone noticed her, and as for herself, she felt perhaps they would notice her in all the wrong reasons.

However, if that were the case, Theia felt she would know quickly as she nodded to Jayna and then walked slowly, but not too slowly, listening to what others were speaking about as they mingled in the hall. She pretend just for a moment she was her mom, finding her steps were lighter, graceful, like as though she were entering the stage for her ballet performance. There was one particular man that looked like the image of Duke Theodus Leto from the brief she read over from Jayna and Theia approached him, hoping to strike a positive accord before the talks begun.

Jayna paused for only a brief moment - allowing her silvery gaze to sweep across the lavish setting. Guests of various origins, nobility and wealthy executives alike, had already begun to fill the space. The room was filled with the sound of their conversation and revelry, all the more pronounced for the quarter-Sephi and her sensitive hearing.

Plucking a slender flute from a passing tray, Jayna began to make her way around the room - greeting guests as she went. It didn’t take her very long to take notice of Duke Leto nearby, gravitating in his general direction. The prominent noble would be important to have in her corner, especially given his own connections within the mining guild and aristocracy.

Taking from her glass, Jayna arrived within the man’s vicinity at roughly the same time as Theia - nodding slightly towards her cousin. With a practiced smile, the quarter-Sephi slipped into the circle - dipping her head properly. “Duke Leto,” She extended a hand towards him, “Jayna Thorne. It is a pleasure,”

“The pleasure is all mine,” The Duke said back smoothly, accepting her hand with a light shake.

“Allow me to introduce my cousin,” Jayna gestures towards Theia.

Theia caught Jayna from the corner of her eye, coming up beside her to meet with the Duke Leto. The redheaded girl stood a bit taller, trying to mimic subtly to Jayna's confidence as she had extended her hand, introducing the teen to the aristocrat.

Extending her hand, Theia spoke, "Theia Durand, its an honor to be able to meet and observe today." she said letting him accept her hand and giving a gentle squeeze. Her thoughts immediately kicked her when she realized her hand was probably awkwardly clammy from nerves as she withdrew from the handshake, her cheeks slightly glowing red.

"We are learning about the importance of resources for systems, I am eager to see how this looks and sounds like outside our textbooks." the girl grinned, trying to just be herself without overly pressing for a positive opinion from the man. She was clueless as to how Jayna did these things, and her mom, how she was able to sway so many important figures with her work on hyperspace. She felt entirely out of her element with this stuff.

Jayna stepped back the slightest bit - allowing Theia to converse with the Duke on her own. It was important that her cousin handle her own at such an exclusive event, and the Heiress instead turned her attention to yet another member of the nobility that flocked to the gathering. Silver eyes pierced into the woman only a few paces away, though the smile worn was practiced and pleasure.

“Lady D’Haro,” Jayna said smoothly, tipping her glass towards the middle-aged Tetan noble. “What a pleasure to host you tonight,”

“I was very sorry to hear of that warehouse accident on Kirrek.” She shook her head. It was a recent catastrophe - foundries and mining sites destroyed in an explosion. Social circles whispered of Mining Guild involvement to quash competition, though no one dared to voice such opinions openly.

“I can only hope that those responsible are truly help to account.”

Meanwhile, Thei would find the Duke to be nothing but smiles and pleasantries - shaking her hand kindly before folding both against the small of his back. “Ms. Durand,” He nodded. “Let me be the first to humbly welcome you to Empress Teta.” He extended a hand, gesturing towards a table where there was drinks and plenty of seating.

“It will please you to know, the work of your mother is quite popular here on Teta.” The planet was known for its shipwright traditions, and a figure like Tia was wildly popular amongst even the upper social circles.

“If resources are your interest, I would be honored to oblige.” He smiled. “Teta is among the most prolific producers of Carbonite in the Galaxy - crucial to the trade of Tibanna and other volatile resources. What happens here? Ripples across trade routes, star systems away.” Of course, the man would have no qualms exaggerating his own families stake in that trade

Jayna seemed to slip away from Theia, leaving her with the Duke and to navigate this conversation on her own. She now wished she paid more attention to what her mom would tell her about these types of talks. There was certainly the over abundance of praise and pleasantries that she not only noticed with those her mom interacted with, but also with peers from her schools who learned of her background.

Her gaze followed his palm, walking with him to the table where she took a drink, but didn't sip from it; a habit instilled by her mom to avoid being drugged, poisoned or tricked by the joiners that still roamed the galaxy unchecked. Theia listened to the Duke, nodding occasionally to show she was listening and interested, though nothing of what he said surprised her.

"I see..." she said, thinking for a moment, "So how does Teta keep carbonite production secure? If anything happened, it wouldn't just hurt the greater galactic competence, but yourself as others who were not afflicted pick up on the demand."
