Aboard Brighthome, Observation Deck
(Cinematic Theme Song!)
The final bastion of hope and sanctuary for all who gave themselves to the Jedi Order. Brighthome had never seen as much business and traffic until the recent days - the final days. As the Jedi Order was preparing to burn all around and have it's light snuffed out for good, Jedis from all around found themselves answer the call of the Grand Master. People had chosen to return to Brighthome for various reasons, to prepare for a final onslaught, to salvage things they held dearly, to just see the station, or to gather for their final goodbyes to their friends. These were the dark days, and tears would be shed across the station - not matter their reasons of attendance.

Bruce had been on the station for awhile, carrying out his duties as a Councillor. To give that brave face and to provide a level of comfort and guidance to those who felt lost, unable to decide what to do next. To seek out a final sliver of knowledge and he'd been expected to tell people things would be alright - but he didn't. He would not lie to the Jedi, to his family. They all knew the grim reality though hard to swallow. There was no better way of dealing with the situation, but to accept the situation and to say it out allowed.

Earlier this day, the Caretaker of First Knowledge had entered council with the Grand Master and the final members of the council as it stood. That meeting had concluded and their mission and purpose had been laid out. With his dismissal from the final sessions, Bruce had gathered a few things and was preparing for the final task, the final order. But before he could carry out anything, he needed to talk to some people - to explain himself to one, to ask the assistance of another, and to reconnect with the last, and to carry out one last adventure.

Here he stood, by his lonesome. Aboard Brighthome and staring out at the infinite reaches of the space around him. He was cold, a coldness that had gripped him as he began to accept the finality of the Jedi Order. He did his best to keep himself together, but it was becoming harder the longer he remained alone. It was so easy for the bardottan to be at peace and be calm, to be clear of mind - but when people were around him. Previously, it was passive in nature because he lived in blissful ignorance like the rest of the Order, he thought the Jedi Order would be around for centuries to come; he hadn't anticipated this. True, the Jedi Order would continue but it would never flourish like it use to... at least not yet; and not easily either.

It would be time to make amends and to move forward. There was no convincing the Grand Master otherwise, and the Caretaker felt an obligation to carry out the duties he had been entrusted. This was the time he would truly fufill his title. It was time to rebuild hope, to rebuild the Order and to come back strong. If the Jedi knew anything, it was patience. These work might require centuries, but it will be done. The final steps would begin today, and he knew who to call. The three he had wished to have by his side. One he'd known awhile, and two he had just met. He saw something in them and he wanted to see how they were.

He had called upon Ralaa Talus (@MatureContentWarningx) - the young girl who had lost her way and was stripped of her rank. The girl he had a talk with, and a talk that had stuck with him for some time now; there was something he wanted to say to her - to suggest to her. He asked her to meet him here, but he didn't know if she would actually be here. After all, they had just met.

He had called upon Marina Giulestei (@Nightfall096) - a young lady who had a fractured mind. Tainted by the Dark Side, if only for the short time. She had been a fighter, she had broke through the darkness and regained herself. He had guided her through these steps, and he wanted to see how she was handling the return - though it had only happened a short while ago. He did not know the exact amount of time though. But, she was his patient and he wanted to ensure she was doing well. She could also potentially help him.

He had called up Fennex Zeerda (@Loco) - a Master he had grown fond of, a fellow Councillor that he'd developed a close friendship with over the course of their duties. Though Fennex was still new to the council, he wasn't new to the bardottan. They'd rubbed shoulders more than once, they'd had some good times and banter with one another; sure his experiences with the fox like creature were limited, Fenn had become one of Bruce's only friend. He knew the Master had a passion for Jedi artifacts as he did and he knew the Councillor would wish to secure as much as he could - out of choice and duty. If he had to undertake any task or mission - he'd like to have carried it out with him.

The calls were placed, all he had to do was wait. He didn't know what the future held, but he knew it would be a bright future if they acted quickly. Wyck would give them the time they needed, the distraction they needed. Bruce had confidence. But for now, he was a lone, in the dimly lit observation deck. The brightest lights were the beautiful scenery that lied outside the station, the few ships the Jedi Order had holding an everlasting vigil in the sector. The infinite artistic colours of the stars and the nebulas surrounding he station.

There was peace to be found.

She’d been on Brighthome more times in recent days than in all the time she’d been a Jedi. It was as if everyone on the station was readying themselves, rushing about in a flurry of activity. In a sense they were. Doomsday prepping it felt like, in a sense, she guessed, they were. The galaxy would live on, but if they remained in it it seemed more than likely they would not. When the chips fell like that there weren’t many options one could take, though it seeemed some Jedi had more ideas than others. One of them being Master Bruce Guleya, of the Jedi council.

A quick summons led her to a quieter chamber higher up in the station, one of the few where there was still any silence to be found. A fitting spot, though from the signs of it there’d be a few of them joining today,

“Master” she said softly as the door slid open before her. She stepped into the room quietly, a polite nod toward the Bardottan. She likely owed him more, though she dared not break the calm of the space. His help had been instrumental in helping her overcome her fractured mind some time ago, she was ready to repay that debt. Though what the Councillor had in mind, she did not know. Though with all the many missions the Order was on now that Knightfall has been called, it seemed time that she step up to the plate too, now her mind was cleared, and help the Order survive a little longer, like she’d promised to,

“What’s the news?”

Fennex gazed absentmindedly out the giant (at least to him) transparisteel viewport at the stars beyond, and at the array of warships preparing for their respective missions. This isn't at all where he would have thought the order would be a few years ago. For a very short time, things appeared to have been looking up. It was only now he knew how foolish and shortsighted they had all been- too slow, too cautious. It was a series of mistakes the Order would pay dearly for. But Fen wasn't a fatalist. This wouldn't be the end of the Jedi once and for all- not if he could help it. And so the Council had made their plan, and he and Bruce had made theirs. They had work to do.

Fennex struggled to his feet as the Knights began arriving. It had been days since Tython, but he still felt so... tired. Decades of wear and tear on his little body were adding up quickly now. He wasn't a pup anymore, that was clear, and fights like the one he'd had against the Xornoth and Kano in the depths of the temple took a lot out of him- too much. But it hadn't been a struggle in vain. Fen's shoulder bag jingled when he moved with the sound a few choice datacrons he'd nabbed jostling together. He could feel the warmth of the Holocron he'd begun pouring his energy into- another drain on his stamina, but one that would survive far longer than his feeble physical body.

"Oh, you know," Fennex quipped in response to Knight Giulestei's question, "Just the end of the galaxy as we know it. Nothing new."

This was an end. She could feel it. No one had to confess it out loud for her to know it to be true- the Jedi Order was burning out. The gravity of it all was written on the faces of her peers, the combined emotions heavy and heart-rending, though many tried their best to seem untroubled. This wasn't the time to crumble; these final moments would be the most important to ensuring the continuation of the Jedi Order. There was no effort too small in the preservation of their presence, their teachings and their histories- It was the responsibility of those who remained to be sure their light wouldn't go out forever. Ralaa had stationed herself here, on Brighthome, to make herself available to these continued efforts.

Ralaa had stationed herself here, on Brighthome, to be available for these continued efforts. Perhaps she felt that she owed it them given the things that had happened, but in spite of that, she knew in her heart that it was the right thing to do. This was no longer about redemption or finding her way back- these trials were inconsequential to those the entire Order would now face. So, she made her way in silence to the observation deck to meet with Master Guleya, prepared to face whatever he might lay in front of her.

The doors slid to either side, her attention drawn to the blonde-haired woman and then to Master Zeerda who stood in front of her. Ralaa gave them each a nod in respect before putting her attention on Bruce, nodding again and offering him a rather warm smile. "It's been a while, Master. You needed something?" The former Master held her hands behind her back, head held much higher than the last time they had met.

As Bruce peered into the great beyond, he took a moment to peaceful contemplation. But his attention slowly turned away from the large viewport and toward the door, where the figure of Marina emerged from the depths of the halls beyond. He offered a smile, though it was grim times he needed to keep his head held high; but he was vulnerable at the same time. People always expected much of the saurian like master.

He would address each of them before he would get down to the details of what was being planned. First person he had to talk to, Marina Giulestei (@Nightfall096) "Marina, I am happy to see you. How are you faring? Any adverse effects after our session? You did very well and I am happy to see you." He would wait for her reply before continuing.

His attention to Ralaa Talus (@MatureContentWarningx) as she entered the observation deck. She looked good, she looked way better then back on Tython. She was strong, determined, fierce. She had a confidence about her now, it warmed the bardottan to see this, he knew it wasn't easy for her to talk to him and he even had his own troubles with speaking with her back then. The warm smile was more than reassuring to the Councillor and it was even infectious, he found himself quickly returning that smile. "Ah, Ralaa, am I so happy to see you. I'm glad you came! I wasn't sure if you would... I know things haven't been must ideal. But - you look good." As before, he would wait for her to respond before continuing with the meeting.

The only response he could give Fennex (@Loco) was just a hefty smile. If one thing was ever certain, it was that Fennex always had a quip ready to matter what or the situation. The two of them could be dying together, and he'd still come up with some wise crack. "Always a smart crack from you, isn't there Fenn? Well, it's what I appreciate about you." If Fennex was taller Bruce would have likely given him a playful shove, but given the diminutive stature, it would probably be a bad idea. "Despite his jesting, Master Zeerda isn't entirely inaccurate, and I thank you all for coming on such short notice."

He wasn't going to give a big drawn out speech like back during the conclave, for once he was going to be straight to the point with little hesitation. In the years he'd known Fennex, he suspected his little friend would appreciate this approach. "Time is short and I won't attempt to bore you, friends. As we all know - the Grand Master has issued the order for Operation Knightfall. Soon the Grand Master will soon face off against Andraste and any assistance the Order wishes to give him, he would appreciate, but the alternative to battle is to ensure the Order isn't truly gone; this is why I've asked you here." Bruce ensured to make eye contact with each of them, one right after the other; as he continued he directed their attention to a couple small crates positioned behind him. "In addition to the few items Master Zeerda has, we've collected some additional artifacts. We should make an effort to scatter these items to ensure our continued existence. If you're willing."

"The two choices we've all been given is: Fight or Hide. I will not prevent any of you from fighting if that is where you wish to serve, but I wanted to provide the alternative. Before we continue, I do want to stress that neither of you owe me anything. I am not 'calling upon a favor' or anything. We discussed it, Fennex and I. We both think you two are more than capable and we really appreciate you. Of course though, we are not asking you to do this separately. We will be joining you." He turned his attention to Fennex, a sort of cue to the furry Councillor to continue - to explain what he was thinking about or rather, where he was thinking.

There were other things Bruce wanted to talk to the group about, to tell them, but he would wait his turn once again before he'd address those things though.

“My favourite” she replied dryly to Master Fennex. Though it did make her smile, she gave it that, whether he’d meant it to or not the Amaranth could be entertaining even in his grumpiness.

“And I’m glad it be here Master Guleya” she replied to Bruce “No, I seem fine, no voices, no shakes anymore. I worry, but what can you do sometimes?” Marina continued with a unconfident laugh. She stopped, looking more serious now,

“I’m fine. I’m ready to be back” she finished before leaning herself against a wall, keeping her arms crossed, ready to listen to Bruce’s proposition. Or Bruce and Fennex’s, so it seemed. An interesting thing to consider. And one of some import then, if a pair of Councillors meant it to be done in such an hour as this.

Marian squirmed lightly, turning herself to look at Fennex, she didn’t want to speak up just yet, she was letting the information come of her for now, mulling it over in her mind. There was so much work to be done now, so much planning to do. And clearly some of those ideas required people on the ground. Whatever it was, well, she already knew she would be happy to oblige. Though where exactly it would take her she couldn’t say.

"If hiding sounds bad to you, I'm afraid Councilor Guleya hasn't even touched on the worst part." Fennex grumbled as he shuffled his way to a chair at the edge of the viewport and clambered up into it before plopping down to take a seat. His whiskers twitched and he flicked his ears, eying the few assembled Jedi.

"If you accept this mission, you're effectively finished as Jedi." He was very direct about this point- he wanted these Knights to be absolutely clear about what was being asked of them, and what it would mean. "You'll give up your titles, your robes, all contact with the rest of the Order, anything that marks you as a Jedi... your lightsabers, if you're smart. You'll be the only people with access to the orders most precious secret- where we've hidden. And guarding that secret is the most important thing you've ever done, or ever will do."

Fennex could go on about their duty, their calling, or the grand importance of this all. Some of the other Councilors might have, probably. It was certainly such an occasion for it. He and Bruce were asking these Knights to voluntarily give up literally everything they had ever known and then fade away into obscurity- accepting anonymity and quiet, uneventful deaths unknown to their comrades and lost to the annals of history. It wasn't exactly the end that most hoped for or thought they deserved, for better or worse. There was no glory in this. No adventure. Just sacrifice.

"It's never been about titles and robes, or whether or not others know who you are." Ralaa stepped farther into the room, her hands pressed behind her. Her attention wandered to Fennex, a hint of a smile pulled at the corners of her mouth. "It took me a long time to realize that it's been about doing what's right, regardless of the sacrifice. I made a commitment to the Jedi Order and I intend to see it through to the very end. I have the both of you to thank for teaching me that." She nodded in respect to Fennex and turned her attention to Bruce. Ralaa took a deep breath and then nodded to him as well- she understood the importance of this mission and, no matter the outcome, would walk beside them.

This would be her final act as a Jedi.

"In this moment, is is of absolute importance that we come together to preserve the histories and the presence of the Jedi Order. We cannot afford to let hope die, and I am prepared to give myself to that cause." Ralaa let out a heavy breath and lifted her head in confidence that she had made a true and honest decision. This wasn't about redemption or reclaiming her title, it was about sacrificing all of it for the preservation of the Jedi Order. It was about giving all of that up, to serve something far more important than she would ever be.

She stood in silence to prepare for all of the things that would follow this moment. To renounce any position she held within the Jedi Order, to ensure that they would not die out. Ralaa didn't need to be remembered, but the Jedi Order did.

Bruce listened quietly a Fennex delivered the truth of the matter to the small assembly. He could tell they were feeling and accepting the gravity of the situation, there wasn't a need to do anything but be blunt and exact. The words stated were truth, after this day they would need to find themselves in hiding - surrender some of the realities. But, to Bruce - Once a Jedi, always a Jedi. Even though they'd give up everything, they'd never stop being a Jedi, it coursed through all of their veins that was a fact; Jedis were never about titles, robes, glow stick, it was a way of life - and Bruce found himself a little surprised that Ralaa had beaten him to the punch on that statement. Bruce was proud.

"My, doesn't he got quite the flair for the dramatics? I thought I was bad." Bruce joked. "What the Councillor says is true however. Of all the tasks we've done, this one is the most impactful. What we do over the next little while will shape the future of this Order and will contribute to the development of the Jedi Order it may not be for 10 years, perhaps 50 years, 150 years, or 500 years from now but it will come to light."

"So, to the point. When we leave here today, I will be taking some of our membership to a sanctuary I have in mind. While I am doing that to preserve our limited numbers, you two will join Councillor Zeerda on a flight to our first location, Jedha. I advise each of you take your own vessels and if you do not properly own one, our hangers can give you one. On Jedha, Fennex will explain in greater detail of the intentions. Once concluded, we have two separate tasks for each of you as well as an additional task for Fenn. Which we will address to each of you separately; but I will advise both you to pack for a variety of weathers."
Bruce concluded.

As the others spoke, Marina couldn’t help but remember the talks she’d listened through when the Zharran Rebellions had entered their final phase. Everything has felt so final, so fixed, that no matter what the outcome was it was the end of their fight. So it was now for the Jedi, in a sense. Any days of outward fighting we’re on hold, any training would be done in secret, any good act covered where it could. This was the end of the Jedi Order as they’d all known it.

And perhaps, perhaps that was okay. This Order hadn’t been able to defend the galaxy. Maybe a new one could. And here their little group gathered to try and make that a reality, even if they should not live to see it, Master Zeerda made that infinitely clear. Her response then, for all the words shared now, could only be simple,

“Tell me where you need me. If it’s as you say then-“ she paused for a moment, the gravity of their situation fully setting in,

“Then I’ll be with you through it all” Marina finished, nodding solemnly. That said, Bruce carried on quickly, they didn’t have the luxury of spending time in such thoughts. And from the sounds of it then there was plenty to get moving. Firstly, Jedha,

“I’ll make sure to have her fueled and ready. We’ll follow you, Master Zeerda?” She said, turning to face the Amaran. Time was of the essence, always would be now, so she felt. Better to get moving then.

Bruce looked over the gathered Knights in the chamber. Things had been laid out to plan and they would have to follow through the best they could. Time was of the essence and Bruce saw no reason to hold the Jedis here any longer he addressed what he could before continuing on.

"Yes. Follow Master Zeerda. He will take you to your first planet - when you have completed the work there he will give you both two different locations to carry out your own unique tasks. They will be kept from either of you to maintain the integrity and safety of our efforts to scatter the artifacts and knowledge." Bruce forced a smile, "Unfortunately... this will be the last time we see Brighthome. And this may be the last time I speak with both of you. It has been a pleasure and I wish you all well. Though we must change our ways, never forget who you all are and what you've all become.

"May the Force be with you, friends."

There was nothing more to say. The plan was laid out and they would have to carry it all out.
