Curse listened carefully to her master's fairly vague directions before moving her shell casings up and down in a shrug-like gesture. //Fair enough.// She replied, and then broke out into an insidious mechanical laughter as she opened fire on the starfighters around her.

She hadn't been built specifically for this type of combat, but the little Pistoeka had picked up more than a few skills in her time. Anything that could aid in her primary directive of breaking things really. Because the turret was built to be operated by an organic and not a buzz droid she had some trouble maneuvering the gun itself, but she made up for it by knowing exactly which points on the enemy fighters were the weakest. Whenever she was able to fire her hits destroyed them without fail.

Eisa's rallying cry of "finishing the delivery" didn't really mean much to Curse either. For her shooting people down was it's own reward. In that she and Minerva seemed to be of the same mind. Although the ship twisted and turned violently as it went through its evasive maneuvers Curse never experienced and disorientation either. It anything this whole ordeal was exhilarating. //After we've made the delivery we're going to stick around and help more right?// She asked hopefully. //I've never sabotaged a Star Destroyer before...// The mere prospect of which was nearly enough to distract Curse from shooting down the enemy fighters. Nearly.

Several of the droid fighters exploded in the face of the explosion from the exploded torpedo and from the laser cannons. Flying his gunboat like a man possessed, Lorcan grinned as he watched several of his enemies disappear. He would usually only enjoy a fight this much if it were in person but there was still something gratifying about space combat.

Of course it was then that the X-Wings actually managed to make it to the party.

"Yellow squadron engaging."

The X-wing squadron was 24 ships as standard but it seemed this one was slightly short handed, coming in at 20 ships total. Some of them might not have managed to make the trip to engage with the droid starfighters from the side but that was fine.

They were still engaging and he was happy for them.

Even better was that the growing dogfight meant that the bombers could continue, only two of them number having been destroyed during the attack run. Personally he would take that as a win.

Chant watched as the torpedo wiped off a number of droid starfighters in the swarm while two bombers were destroyed. As soon as that happened the X-Wing squadron arrived, intercepting the hostiles. Lasers exchanged and fightercraft maneuver pursue one another like competing mynocks in heat. The Lee-Char joined in, soaring into the midst of the fight.

One droid fighter swooped past her, dodging the turret fire by Ness. Gritting her teeth Chant twisted around for another pass. But she lost it, but was replaced by another one who charged at her, firing a volley. “Crap!” The Mon Calamari committed barrel roll, evading some shots but a few struck, decreasing the shields further.

They flew away from each other but Ness let out a barrage that kept the host old occupied as Chant circled around. Her target evaded shot after shot by the turret, trying to sped away. But as the droid fighter maneuvered to shoot at them again, Chant fired first. A three round burst hit the enemy droid in center mass before exploding.

“Gotcha!” Chant exclaimed, proud of what she and Ness just managed to pull off. Meanwhile the rest of the bombers continued on course for the Star Destroyer.

The droid observed the turncoats, knowing that primarily they were looking for their own survival. It was not a problem for N4-X4 since he calulated their state of duress or perspective mattered little as long as they were compliant.

Hearing the order from the Doctor, Naxa nodded.
"Roger roger" The deep vocabulator said simply and headed off towards the bridge. "You will accompany me." He said simply to one of the devaronians. It was not a request. Just in the event that the droid came across other crew, it helped to show that some of their former comrades had already switched sides. It also meant there would be one less former hostile in close proximity to Ilana.

Entering the bridge he moved to the navigation controls. Tapping in the a new destination for the corvette he knew avoiding further combat was in their best interest. They didn't have the man power to operate the corvette fully. The state of the ship was clear and Naxa didn't need to ask for a status from the crew.

"Prepare to jump with the provided coordinates." A few clipped chirps from the commands the droid provided directed the remaining bridge crew to follow his orders. The lone corvette, having survived the slug fest against the bident, seemed to continue to be ignored. It was out of weapons range for most friendly and enemy ships.

Opening up a communication channel he wanted to provide a simple warning.
"The ship will soon be ready to make a jump to hyperspace, Doctor. Accounting for my ship we should be able to rendezvous with the rest of MC in the Belsavis system." The ship would need significant repairs and not make it to their destination in record time. In fact it would probably take longer than normal to make sure they avoided getting detected by other groups.

Charyeok had been surprised by the trick with the torpedo. Some of these organics, it seemed, were surprisingly ingenuitive. When the small gunboat had fired the torpedo, he had confusedly thought that perhaps it was a mistake, or maybe some sort of last ditch effort. It seemed a little early for a last ditch effort though. Four of his brethren had been destroyed in that attack, and another one got taken out by one of their escort freighters. That was five of his wingmen down. Charyeok was annoyed.

Suddenly one of his squad mates sent out an alarm across their net. X-wings incoming. "Dogun Dao cha!" Charyeok issued the order not to engage. Instead, the droids executed evasive maneuvers, dodging the fire from the incoming X-wings and continuing to fly "upwards" towards the bombers. X-wings were extremely fast in a straight line, but even these advanced fighters couldn't compete with the Vulture's maneuverability. It was the one thing that most vultures had over the more advanced modern fighters of the day.

As the X-wings flew past below them, overshooting due to their inability to bank as hard as the vultures, Charyeok and the rest of his squadron (20 in number now) flew up through the bomber squadron. If they wanted a dog fight, he was happy to oblige, but they would do it in and amongst their bomber fleet. He would not allow their precious bombers to go unscathed while his brethren died. "Cha so ya Immolate gi fa!" Issuing orders, Charyeok opened fire, knocking out a turret on one of the bombers as he looped over the fat slow-moving target and flew down the other side. Heading back down towards the ships below, Charyeok saw one of the X-wings coming up towards him after pulling a loop. It opened fire with it's four medium laser cannons. Charyeok spun his chassis around to be perpendicular with his enemy's, the medium blaster bolts going above and below him to impact the bomber he had just passed. The X-Wing had a wide wingspan for a fighter, and the Vultures were small targets by comparison. Charyeok opened up with his own 4 light laser cannons, as well as his two antipersonnel repeaters. The X-wing tried to pull a spin as well, but Charyeok could outmaneuver him with every twist and turn. His concentrated fire wore a hole in the X-wing's light shielding and tore through the cockpit. Charyeok immediately stopped firing and pulled up slightly, allowing the speeding X-wing to pass just beneath him. The X-wing with the dead organic pilot was now speeding towards one of the bombers. "Now this is an enjoyable time!" he thought to himself as he spun around to see the rest of his vulture brethren darting and weaving in and out between the bombers, alternating their fire between the X-wings and peppering the bomber's shields. They were hit and run experts. They were in their element at last.

As Naxa left with one of the guards, she glanced over to the other.

"Do you hold any respect for your commander?" she inquired calmly, head tilted. "Or is he simply a man with a title?" The guard stared at her for a moment, before walking down the hallway and keeping his back to what she did. She crouched before the Captain, staring him down. He stared back.

"You have two options. Live, and tell me about the Eternal." She told this to him levelly, her voice icy, cold. Amber eyes stared him down. He slowly leaned to the side, spitting at her general direction. A bit of blood came with it.

"Let me guess... option two is death?" he sneered, baring his teeth at her. There was no fear in those eyes. No remorse either. She slowly shook her head... and then a slow, chilling smile touched her own lips. It was joyless, cold, the likeness a baring of fangs from a predator.

"No. I want you alive a long, long time..." she almost crooned, one finger lightly touching a bruised cheek. "To watch your failure. To see people forget you..." his breathing became shallow as what he thought was her hand pressed over his chest, "...to fade away into the small waste of space you really are," she hissed low in her throat.

He stared at her a moment... then lashed forward to headbutt her.

The hypo hissed a shot into his chest, and he let out a choked sound, slumping over.

A shame he couldn't just admit to anything yet. Guess that meant she was going to have to make accommodations to keep the former Captain on.

Hearing Naxa, she sighed. Withdrew the hypo. Glanced at the guard down the hall.

"Put him in the cargo hold for now. I'll deal with him later."

She then picked up her comm, her voice steady and clear.

"Let's go, Naxa. Affirmative to hyperspace."

Talak's message caught Kori and her team in the moment of calm before the storm. She started her report through the helmet's comlink: "Tallis here. We're in, and on our..." The report was interrupted by all hell breaking loose. The arrival of two enforcers. The emergence of the Sith. Blaster fire. The Zeltron wasn't prepared for that. A momentary distraction was all it took.

The blades of Kori's saber-staff ignited again, as the Jedi assumed a defensive stance and started her kata. Half-a-decade of rote learning meant that Kori could do it in her sleep. Any blaster fire aimed at her would most likely meet her blade. The first move was always to protect herself—otherwise she wouldn't be there to keep her squad safe. It was the next move that was supposed to protect her team... But it came a moment too late. The blades cut the air in the wake of the blaster bolts fired by the marines and the guards. With Izel at the rear, she probably wouldn't get there in time to protect the marines either.

Having failed at her job, Nykoria just stared at the arriving Sith through the visor of her flight suit. The man's remark hit home; still dumbfounded by realization of her failure, the Zeltron didn't come up with a witty response. Probably for the first time in her encounters with the Sith. Kori tried to slow her breathing and push away the pain, fear, and anger. She'd need to keep her cool in the moments to come. No matter how hard it was. The second light-hearted remark of the Sith was also ignored. Every moment he gave was a moment Kori could spend to call upon the Force and her Jedi teachings.

In silence, one of the azure blades of the saber-staff extinguished. With no soldiers to protect, a single blade would work best for now. Under the helmet, it was hard to say what was going on in the Zeltron's mind. Her left foot stepped forward, as she shifted her weight towards it. Holding the hilt as a longer single-bladed lightsaber, the woman angled it at 45 degrees towards the enemy, and slightly to the left, so that it would cover her torso diagonally.

She was in her element now; so much so that a comeback finally arrived. The Zeltron delivered it grimly and without much emotion to it; her voice distorted by the helmet: "Then go ahead and handle those things. Or you won't get over it."

It's been a while, so I figured it was a good time to slip in a post to account for Kori's and Izel's reaction to the arrival of the Sith. That way @Sreeya will have more options to base her intro off of (if you're still interested). I slightly changed the order of some events to better explain why the Jedi suddenly failed at their job to protect the NPCs.

Izel felt the Sith coming before she saw them, a sickeningly black spot in the Force, growing closer. They rounded the corner and engaged the group, their marine allies going down before the Vratix could get close enough to help. While the arrogant Sith droned on she glanced down at the bodies lying motionless on the floor, her grip on her pike tightening as the anger swelled within her. No, not this time. She wouldn't lose control again.

The Vratix took a deep, shaky breath, and pushed down the negative emotions threatening to overtake her. She had to remain calm, or this fight would be lost before it began. When she looked up and started walking forward there was no discernable anger or hatred. Just a grim determination that radiated off of her. She was completely resolved to destroy this new threat.

Taking up a position to Kori's right she shifted her stance to Makashi, holding her pike forward directly before the center of her chest. It was time to put all that training in the sparring rooms to good use. There would be no fleeing this time. "We'll see how confident you are once you're short a few limbs..." She uttered in a steely tone. There was no fear or misplaced excitement this time around. The adrenaline pumped through her veins, but her mind was clear. There was only the Sith, and the Force flowing through her. She would become an instrument of balance, and remove the dark side from this place.

Well, it was a pity the jedi didn't take the bait, the old legionnaire had the door closed in order to deal a devastating blow but it seemed like he would rather play with someone else, what he did expect however, was one of the vents being directed back to him, even if it was fast, a trained force sensitive could also redirect it in time with telekinesis, specially if he had just released his hold on it, however, Jerex had to admit it was a bit of a close call, the vent now embedded in one of the walls "Leaving already? You're no fun" Jerex said to the jedi before the door finally closed, well, guess he had to find someone else to play with now.

Of course, if the jedi didn't play with him, that meant Jerex could go on a bit of a rampage, soldiers from both sides were now pretty much everywhere and that meant Jerex couldn't really walk for a minute before getting to kill a group of defenseless grunts, turning the tide for some of his soldiers. Initially, he was going to try and find Hannibal again, but he started sensing three force sensitives nearby, one of the dark side and two of the light side, and since the old legionnaire was a team player, it didn't take long for him to meet the group situated there.

"Well well, I didn't expect a jedi to resort to threats, you're really hoping to cut off our heads, aren't you?" Jerex entered the scene, joining Wolfgang's side after hearing Izel utter those words "Good, that's good! This isn't fun if our lives aren't on the line and you are not aiming to do some serious damage" He let out a huge creepy smile behind his mask, not being able to contain the excitement after losing an opportunity to fight a jedi minutes before "There are plenty of jedi on the ship though, so let's finish this quickly and move onto the next one, okay?" Jerex told Wolfgang, letting him now that, despite his strange comments, he wasn't fooling around. Right now the old legionnaire had both of his hands free, calling upon the force to attack quickly, his lightsaber hidden somewhere inside his robes; Jerex was better with the force than with a lightsaber, and having another sith by his side meant that he could focus a little less on the defense, and if the situation called to it, it wouldn't take that long to take the lightsaber out anyways "So, let's play!"

Hannibal just kept on waving as the door closed. He pulled his blaster back to his hand and re-holstered it and headed back the way he came, redirecting himself and the marines with him back toward Talak. Best to stick together if they were going to get anything done, anyway.

"Grayza reporting. Sith ran off, heading back to you," he replied, breaking into a jog to get over quickly. It didn't seem Talak had moved that far, and to some degree Hannibal could just follow the trail of destruction. Something told him the burned-through hole in the wall would lead him to his friend. With the defenders in this section having moved off, suppressed, or downed, it shouldn't take him long. Plus, there were a bunch of unarmed gunnery crews fleeing down a hallway up ahead.

Hannibal bet at least one of them had called for backup. Unless they brought a Sith with them, two Jedi backed by gunners could chew through a basic security detail in record time.

"What's the plan, my man?" he directed specifically to Talak's comm as he approached, the thundering of boots echoing down the hall to join the sound of sparking machinery. At least Talak hadn't used a bomb this time.

Talak waited, but the only response he received was one from another Jedi who sounded as if she was heavily bogged down in combat. No response from Hannibal or the others who had come through the breaches, and that left him more than a bit concerned for their safety.

He paused, trying to decide between pressing on with the assault and going back to provide support. Was bringing down the destroyer all on him now? Surely, that wasn't a good sign.

The pause, it seemed, was a mistake. His plan was interrupted as more security troops - it looked like only two or three - took up positions just outside the door and began to open fire.

He fell back deeper into the room, slapping aside incoming fire before slipping into cover free of the line of enemy fire. His eyes darted around the room once again, looking for the best place to make his opening while gunshots continued to come in. He wondered how long it would be before they got up the courage to advance on a Jedi position. Generally not a brilliant idea, but in this case perhaps not their worst one.

That was when he heard Hannibal over the comms, and that made him feel at least slightly better. The silence - while it probably shouldn't have been unexpected - hadn't been encouraging.

Can you get to the main gun batteries? Third gun from the front, port side. I have an idea for bringing this thing down, he said, glad to have at least a small complement to accompany him. It would be a considerably better option than fighting this alone. @Mr. Teatime

Jago's head was nearly taken off as a speeder went flying overhead. He didn't get a chance to see if his rock had landed or not, as he kicked himself. The other kriffing gun. The speeder was headed right for it and Jago had to move fast. He sprinted after it, letting the light flow into him, the physical exertion of the run feeding him even more and he worked his legs faster and faster. He couldn't catch the speeder, but he was a blur as he moved through the battlefield with enhanced speed. He arrived only a few moments later as he spotted the sith (@RedneckLoves ) hop off and take up cover.

He winced as the first grenade flew toward the gun. He was still too far away even with his enhanced speed. He saw the man preparet to through another though and this time he was close enough. He lept and planned to deliver a kick to the back of the head of the Sith, to at least try and knock the second grenade of course if he missed. He didn't shout out this time, he knew this attack would either save the gun or lead to it falling.

Of all the possible mercenaries out there, the Sith had to pick the Droids Gotra huh? Interesting choice, Cobalt thought as he observed the squadron of Vulture droids swarm the bombers he had been called to protect.

The Shashay was on Ryloth to help with training some of the fresh recruits of the local Defense Force, and when the alarm of the attack came, he gladly offered his help to defend the planet, so there he was, confronting a group of extremely old, but still functioning droid fighters. He had studied them when he was at the Anaxes War College, and part of their behavior patterns in combat were familiar to him, but there was something... odd, to say the least. These droids were smarter than expected, and many of his squadron mates were apparently having that same problem.

He dived, chasing one of the droids, shooting at it several bursts of his T-90 X-Wing's medium laser cannons, mostly missing it, but one lucky shot managed to hit one of the starfighter's wings, sending it into a spinning trajectory!

Talon nodded at Dol's frantic comment and lunged across the corridor, out of the room and into the hallway. Both blasters ahead of him, he saw movement and fired, finally getting the hit on the first try. The man fell to the ground screaming, but a group of 6 armored men simply stepped over him and began firing on Talon's position.

"Oh, kriff!" He screeched and careened around a curve, sticking his arm out to shoot blindly and hoping to maintain their attention. He nearly laughed as they simply ran past the room he had just exited; Dol kept getting the easy kills this time around. He rolled his eyes.

He kept moving, ensuring that as soon as they rounded a blind spot they had to duck back behind the wall. Hopefully Dol would make quick work of these guys; he himself had only gotten one out of the six.

Dolworth kept firing, multitasking as he kept one eye on Talon to cover him, one eye on his chronometer to keep track of the countdown, and the rest of his attention on the incoming assailants. He growled in frustration as bolts stung him in his armor, grateful that his Beskar'gam could take this kind of abuse for this long. He ducked right after Talon, swinging around to keep the enemy at bay and focused solely on them. The timer count down to zero and then...nothing. Dolworth's eyes widened from beneath his helmet, looking at his chronometer and thinking back to his work on the makeshift explosives. He kept thinking whether or not he did it right. The thought of having to go back into that room with all this was making a pit in his stomach. He let out a chuckle, if only to let Talon know he was calm.

"That's weird" he said in a rather calm voice as they shot back at their assailants, "For a second there I surely thought-"

KABOOOM!

The explosives finally detonated, causing a chain reaction in the Ion control system which resulted in the small chamber going up like a fireball. A shockwave, compressed because of the room and the open door, sent a wall of fire and pressure out the door and into the oncoming assailants. Dolworth only managed to get behind cover before a wall of fire swept passed where he once was. He let out a short of howl, not of shock but enthusiasm. He was relieved he had only underestimated the fuses as the explosion sent the Ion systems into oblivion.

Pulling up, Chant saw on her left side an X-Wing spin out of control, toward one of the bombers. With the jerk of the controls she twists toward that direction. She opened up with two laser bursts and the fighter was destroyed before it could crash onto the heavy craft. Subsequently Chant stayed out of the swarm of x-wings and droid starfighters trading shots in and around the bombers.

The latter proceeded to spread out due to the harassment and give their escorts more room to maneuver and shoot. The medium shields on the bombers held up against some of the droids’ light shots, since it takes more than one burst to actually do damage. In other words, taking turns to shoot at both the bombers and X-Wings while evading at the same time makes it harder for the droids to destroy the former at a faster rate.

The Mon Calamari made another pass, targeting a droid fighter diving below. It was turning around when Ness’ turret let loose a salvo, forcing it to dodge to the right flank...toward Chant’s line of fire. “Not today scum!” Squeezing down on the trigger, a burst caught the droid in its left wing before exploding. Chant then flew around and ascended out of the dogfight.

As Mara ran towards the warring light and dark forces that she sensed on the battlefield ahead of her, she spotted the two grenades being thrown at the ammunition stash that was definitely too close to the large cannon that they were used in. Mara didn't have a lot of time to think, she couldn't get over there fast enough even if she enhanced her speed. Her Cryonesis abilities had too short of a range and probably weren't enough to stop two grenades, if they were what she assumed they were. So the only reasonable idea she could come up with was a Hail Mary, but it could work.

As Mara ran, she held a hand out by her side and began gathering a swirling ball of Force, doing her best to gather it up quickly before the grenades hit their mark. Once she was sure that the energy was sufficient, she pushed the hand gathering Force in front of her and released the energy. A shockwave emerged from Mara's hand, akin to that of a large weapon being fired too close to the ground. A wall of wind and Force was sent streaking towards the grenades, impossibly fast, but would it deflect the grenades in time? Or would the wall of Force set off the sensitive impact triggers of the Grenades?

"We're holding down the anti-air, ones lost but it seems like we've still got one" Ilukai replied over the comm to Talak (@Phoenix ). The voices bobbing in and out of the comm made her feel different, she had not been a Jedi for long, thoguh as she understood it Rand was newer, and yet she had never really worked close with many of them. Today that was differnet, today there was a united front, and she herself was a part of it as she rushed toward the Sith (@Taz), the blaster bolts rattling off toward them. It seemed for now she had the upper hand, and if she had kept the Sith at bay she would look across to the gun, the real goal of the fight, the pivot of the melee.

There were grenades, but it seemed hopefully her allies (@Topher Ridge and @Phantom) wold throw off the Sith (@RedneckLoves) and keep the grenades at bay,

"They'll stay safe until you bring that ship down" cause that would hopefully buy them the victory today once it had, even if not everyone on the ground would come out as well as they arrived. Instead as she closed in to lock off the gun wit her allies, she kept herself at the ready, lightsaber up and Force at hand, to halt any attack either of the Sith might send her way.

Cocking her head to the side slightly, the fiery haired spacer, pursed her lips for a moment in thought, with the vitriol cries from the mandalorian in the Co pilot seat beside her, ringing out with every salvo of laser fire she unleashed towards the imperial esq fighters, and the malicious chittering laughter of excitement ringing over from the turret behind the cockpit - perhaps getting the delivery done first was perhaps the lower of the priorities, not when the crew were clearly enjoying them selves.

Knowing she would never hear the end of it, should they make thier delivery and only to return to the battle as promised to find that it was over. The digs and japes aside, Eisa couldn't help but shake the feeling that perhaps it was better to get it all out thier system first, moreso Curse! Denying the little buzz droid, her one of few sanctioned opportunity to destroy things till her little metallic processor heart's content would no doubt lead to another Rattatak.

Whilst the Rim hopper for the best part despite its erratic weaving through the battle one was headed towards the atmosphere of Ryloth, and at first it looked as if the Spacer was going to continue with the same general trajectory. The Spacer took a deep breath, "Kriff it" she muttered before reaching over towards the array of switches that surrounded the main pilots seat, toggling a few to dim down the internal lights, turn off the auxiliary and miscellaneous supplies, before the entire ship started to resonate with an up tempo rock tune blaring out of the PA system.

"Make sure your arses are strapped in" Eisa called out, before in a flurry of motion accompanied with a wild fit of laughter suddenly throttled down on the engines before yanking the flight stick back, pulling the ship into a tight climbing turn, before suddenly throttling back up and accelerating out of the tight turn, that flipped the ship upside down from how it originally was. Once the Rim hopper had pulled out of its i turn Eisa rolled the ship so it was righted to the relative normal that all the other ships were sitting at.

"Curse, you know the best way to kriff things up! Mark out the targets you us to strafe"

The droid directed the bridge crew on a new heading. It brought the Resolute Defiance further from the ongoing battle and to a safe distance. The optimal jump point was achieved and the coordinates locked in he took into account the safety measures need to travel with his Hex still connected. It would force them to arrive slower to avoid having a mishap but that was an appropriate precaution. The ship had enough damages as it was.

The droid ordered after getting the confirmation from the Doctor. With the stars stretching and then casting the bridge in a blue light, the ship leapt out of the Ryloth system, headed for Belsavis. The next order of business would be securing the ship completely and minimizing damage from existing wounds.
