The Blackbird Pirates

Intent:
To add another criminal faction into the mix. This faction acts mostly in the outer rim. It's pirate activities woud earn the ire of all the non-criminal oriented factions, as well as building allies with other criminal factions. The idea of this group is to start as an alliance of pirate captains with their crews with the faction having a low amount of starting assets, then as missions and threads are completed, we build a bigger pirate faction that could take major booty, become a nusience to the main factions, build a sphere of influence in the outer rim, and maybe take a planet.

Summary

The Blackbirds Pirates is a well-known pirate organization that operates in the Outer Rim that is formed from a pact of a group of captains who have the common goal of collecting cargo, credits, and other valuables without competing with each other and having a common goal, to bring in the credits. Their organization has a simplified chain of command with the Admiral is the supreme leader of the group and the High Captains under him.

Blackbird members are not directly interfere with one another's operations, but instead work together to enrich themselves and the group. If a number of Blackbirds participate in a piracy operation together, they will share in the rewards. Although all pirates have their own ambitions for glory; treachery are not acceptable within the organization. Offenders of such will be punished upon discovery, which will result in expulsion from the group, a bounty on their head, and/or death. Although Blackbird Captains are encouraged to collaborate with each other and answer the call of the Admirals, they are still allowed to run their own independent operations. Captains do have a voice in the direction of the group, as meetings between Captains, High Captains, and the Admiral will be called forth occasionally. But at the end of the day, everyone in the Blackbirds are looking for the plunder and grow to be a force to be reckoned with on the Outer Rim.

Smuggling and Bounty Hunting are not discouraged activities in the group. And neither is the slave trade but that's not officially endorsed.

Ranks

Admiral (Faction Leader) | The overall leader of the Blackbirds. The Admiral has supreme authority over all vessels under the banner of the Blackbirds. The Admiral commands the Blackbirds from his organization's flag ship (the highest class ship available). The Admiral also assembles the other pirates for missions. He has total authority over the lowly pirate raiders, as well as giving out promotions on those whom merit them.

High Captain | The second highest authority group in the Blackbirds. Answerable only to the Admiral and by keeping each other in check. When mobilized, the High Captains have the authority over the captains assigned to him. High Captain can post missions as well. When a person is promoted to a high captain, they are granted command of a ship from the faction's assets that is a corvette class or higher. High Captains can have up to 35 raiders under their command. If two high captains presiding over an operation both disagree, the Admiral steps in and makes the final decision.

Captain (Starting Rank) | The entry level rank for the Blackbirds for any captain who personally owns a multi-crew starfighter, transport, freighter or any vessel class in between and have command of their own crew (must be kept reasonable), as well as up to five Raiders to accompany them on their ships for the purposes of extra manpower for tasks like boarding vessels, attacking compounds of interest if desired.
For the most part,

Captains have freedom to do pirate activities on their independently with their own vessel's crews. And if they see any opportunities for plunder that can come up, they are free to share them with the rest of the faction to get others in on the opportunity as well. Captains who participate in missions and demonstrate initiative, loyalty and good leadership skills can possibily find themselves promoted to an Admiral.

Raider (Starting Rank) | The lowest rank in the the organization The Raiders either do not own a ship large enough to fit a crew and/or do not have a crew. Raiders are mostly spotted attacking or defending guard compounds under command of the Admirals or High Captains, assigned to ship captains on their vessels, or going solo under the Blackbird banner with their own ships.

Raiders who demonstrate qualities worthy of being a captain, being able to obtain a worthy enough vessel and obtaining enough respect to get their own crews may find themselves being a newly minted Captain. The most common pirate raiders (NPCs) do not have skills beyond marauding, and are trained to fight with vibroswords and/or blasters. Although usually poorly equipped, they have nothing left to lose.

Support (Starting rank) | Not every member of the Blackbirds is actively out to plunder the galaxy. Instead they are at base or on a ship, anywhere else supporting them by various more indirect means with usually specialized skills. Roles include (and are not limited to) being a 'tech boy', engineer, diplomat, spy .etc. They are valuable because of the skills they provide that the usual raiders are unable to provide. And the same opportunities for advancement as raiders still apply.

Assets
The Blackbird Pirates, ever since their formation have been gaining a lot of tractions and have been raking in enough credits though their operations. They were able to assemble a small fleet, with the Corsair Corvette named the White Lady as their flag ship. They still aim to expand, by recruiting more wiling men and gaining more ships and establishing bases in the future.

150x Pirate Raiders
25x S-100 Stingers
10x Quad Wing Bombers
1x Hammerhead 'Corsair' Corvette
2x YG 300 Light Freighter
1x Voruda-Class Heavy Freighter
1x Selonian Light Freighter
2x Halo-class Transport
1x LR-20R Longprobe
3x Haranov-Class Gunship
4x Armed Pinnace

So, I've been thinking about ideas for my next character, I have him for the most part finished, but sitting in my PM box. He is a pirate, so then I started pondering a faction for space pirates. Don't plan on using the Black Sun, but a new fanon pirate organization is what I am thinking about.

So, the faction would be structured as an alliance of individual pirate vessel captains (PCs and their personally owned ships) and their crews coming together for mutual benefit. They would do high-profile high reward missions as a group headed by the faction leader character, but the individuals characters would still be able to do their own things independently. There will still be room for pirate characters without crews or just wants to serve on another PCs ship.

There would be NPC assets as well, there will a small fleet of sorts as well as low ranking pirate raiders as common troopers and all that jazz. The goal would be a building as big of a pirate threat as possible, to get as much credits as possible, and become a thorn in the side of all main factions and some indie factions as well.

Anyone interested in dat pirate booty?

Yes, so much yes. I wanted to make a pirate character soon and I got sad when I realized that the Blazing Claw didn't work out well, we need more pirates!

Well, from what I read they are a clone wars thing with little canon info behind it and I'm not sure if want to establish them as a thing 1000 years before episode 1.

@Faster Than Light so what sort of pirate group we planning on doing here? Like we start with one ship, and we work our way up or we have a few ships with each person being a captain? An what kind of ships do you think we should start out with?

I think it is kinda like the Blazing Claw was, an alliance of pirate, each being the captain of their own ship, being all led under a leader

As a captain (a starting rank), you can start with anything that's not a capital ship, a corvette or higher isn't allowed per board rules. And you can have your own crew. But there will be a higher rank that will let you command higher class faction asset ships.

Or if you want you could start as a lowly raider and work your way up as you aquire wealth and respect!

The ships captains command and (small crews) would be separate from NPC faction assets. @Richie B. So it's your choice. But the faction would provide basic raiders for boarding ships or attacking things

Pretty this is what I envisioned from the start.

If this takes off, I can always add more pirate gangs and your unique NPC's to this lesser known Compendium I've been working on.
Notorious Pilots, Smugglers, and Pirates of the Galaxy. I can even add Player Characters both deceased and alive.

I still have to add quite a few characters to the list and add the infamous Outlaw Squadron that destroyed the Ziost Planetary Fleet before the timeskip. I can include pirate gangs, smugglers unions, NPCs of any pilot type, and Player Characters.

I should specify, that as long as members add their character sheet similar to the ones we have posted in that thread, I can simply link them to the top.
