Onderon

Weiss stood in the grassy plain where near where the freighter had landed with the was wooded area now known only as the dreaded 'Blood Forest' spread in front of him and the vessel. The trees looking halfway dead and decayed, some completely destroyed as if they were violently cut down and the floor of the area littered with branches of the ruined trees. The Jedi team sent to investigate and potentially engage the situation on Onderon was given odd, chilling information about the mission - a cult that seemed to be rooted in the Dark Side was now ruling this forest, killing almost all of the scouts sent by the Onderon king and perhaps the most chilling bit of information was that the cult was apparently worshiping the blood of Force users. Their numbers were unknown and considering the layout of the mission and potential dangers it wasn't really a surprise that such a relatively large team of Jedi was sent to the 'Blood Forest'.

The had first arrived to a more civilized part of Onderon, one of the cities, leaving their ships there the group took a couple of freighters bestowed upon them by the Onderon king and headed towards the area designated as the starting point of the Blood Forest. Weiss looked upon the woods spreading before them, feeling a blatantly obvious Dark Side taint oozing from the area that even a youngling could pick up on. The tall white haired Jedi wasn't one to be seen in traditional Jedi robes unless the occasion explicitly required it instead he sported a more military type of look brandishing tight shirts and military style pants adorned with many belts both on the young man's torso and his hips, fixating the gear further, and a black tight leather jacket on top with two silver shoulder pads and deep black military boots and gloves. He felt more comfortable and mobile in such outfits but perhaps it had also something to do with his father's military background and growing up with pictures of his in many similar outfits before his ascension to the rank of general.

He had known little about the companions on his current mission, most of them were from a temple different than the one he was trained on though frankly even if they were from his own temple he'd most likely know just as little about them. Socializing didn't come naturally to Weiss to say the least, his own blatant talents and skills as well as constant praise from the masters caused a significant rift between him and most of his peers, most of them not bothering to engage him either because they wrongly assumed that due their differences in skill and talent he was looking down on them or they simply viewed the boy with some alien reverence and stayed clear of him. Others that did try to engage him quickly dropped it finding little in common with the boy or simply finding him to be boring as Weiss never really learned how to play with kids his age, spending most of his childhood doing 'adult' stuff and practices his parents pushed him into.
What he did know of his companions was that two Jedi Masters were issued on this mission with them, along with their relatively large number further proving the Council's caution of the mission on Onderon.

Weiss turned away from the forest towards the freighters to meet the others with his eyes. His group was in the freighter that landed first and the vessel containing the second group had just finished it's landing and it's ramp's opening mechanisms were engaging.

Elara was initially rather excited to help with a Jedi mission, as usual given her normal optimism. Thinking about it, she supposed they could need someone with good piloting skills should things go wrong? But then again, looking at the details of the mission before they left Onderon, most of the issue was on planet. A very dangerous mission, in fact, dealing with a strange dark side cult. Elara suddenly felt a tinge of fear, remembering what had happened on Coruscant....She shivers momentarily, then shakes it off as best as she can. She was going to be among Jedi, after all, she was only there as support. She should be fine.

Trying to shake off any anxiety, Elara pilots the borrowed freighter with the rest of the group. She left her ship in the city to her trusted atromech droid. It didn't take long for them to bond after she acquired it on Coruscant, they had pretty matching personalities. As far as the group is concerned, she has seen a few of the faces on Coruscant, but they didn't really have enough time to acquaint themselves with one another given the circumstances. In fact, she was already on the freighter as the rest boarded, so they haven't really met properly this time either.

"Landing in about 2 minutes, peeps!" Her tone was as cheerful as she could make it. No need for doom and gloom right off the bat.

With the knowledge her training gave her, she masterfully and carefully landed the freighter precisely where she was meant to. She lowers the boarding ramp and prepares her things. She puts on her blast vest, the blaster holster and her blaster, while she lets the rest of the crew get off first.

Izel was quickly learning to despise this system. After the recent disaster on Nar Shaddaa all she wanted to do was go back to the temple on Ajan Kloss and get some well deserved rest. But the moment the previous situation had been wrapped up she, her Padawan, and Nara had been called upon to go straight to Onderon to investigate some dark side cult. Things were really starting to get out of hand.

Her previous two visits to the Japrael system had taken her to Dxun, Onderon's Demon Moon. Each journey had nearly cost her her life. And it seemed Onderon itself was not much better, or at least not this cursed forest. As she stepped off the transport the Vratix could feel the dark side swarming around her, so strong it made her flinch slightly. Well, at the very least she'd have the opportunity to strike back at the dark siders for all the harm they had wrought in the past few months. She was in good company too. Looking across the gathered Jedi she could tell the Council was taking no chances this time. Both Masters Tionson and Grayza were present. As well as Fiach, another Jedi she had formerly trained with as a Padawan. The Vratix perked up a bit upon seeing her and offered a friendly wave. She didn't recognize the white haired Jedi or the Sector Ranger, but as far as she was concerned the greater the numbers the better.

"Be mindful of yourself here." She warned Isen as they joined the rest of the group. "The dark side is very strong. If you let your emotions overrun your sense you will lose control." Unfortunately she spoke from experience, as Nara would have known very well from their last mission together on Ontotho. Izel looked to her next. "I don't think I've ever seen such a large team assembled for a single mission. These cultists must be a serious threat."

Onderon was usually the nicer of the two places when you compared it to Dxun but this place, honestly, might tip it in the other direction. The Force was telling him that it was Dark but he didn't need to feel it. He didn't need to feel it because he could damned near taste it on the air.

Someone had been perverting the natural Order of the Galaxy here for some time.

Walking toward the treeline, he stopped at the edge of the woods for a moment before sighing and shaking his head. Why people ever thought to pervert the natural order of things he never understood.

He turned back to the assembled strike force and nodded to Hannibal upon seeing him. He gave the Jedi he knew nods of their own before giving the spritely Sector Ranger a jaunty wave as well - she seemed like the type to appreciate it.

Spotting Weiss he moved over to the Jedi Knight.

"Knight Zano."
he greeted the younger man with a smile, "Max. Come on - buck up and smile, kid. It's not everyday you get to see a place so obviously haunted even a horror holovid character would back off."

For nearly a decade, Isen spent his days in the Jedi enclave on Jedha. The knights and masters there seemed to be more interested in research than training younglings or taking padawans. Mostly, they were bland and uninteresting types. Isen felt that they viewed teaching the few younglings and Padawans there to be drudgery. They didn't enjoy it, and neither did the pupils.

But, suddenly Isen found himself constantly on the move. Since he had been handpicked to be Izel Thral's padawan (by someone), the young Jedi barely had time to be bored. The missions were becoming the lessons. Hands on, learn as you go, tutoring. Isen loved it, but there was little time for rest or meditation. He would have loved to have a little bit of both before landing on Onderon. The briefing was ominous to say the least. A forest brooding with followers of the dark side needed to be investigated. Not only that, but these Darkies worshiped the blood of Force users.

"Be mindful of yourself here. The dark side is very strong. If you let your emotions overrun your sense you will lose control," his master said to him. He could believe it. There was a tempting pull to this forest. It was unnerving how seductive it was. Clearly malevolent, but disguised as a natural part of the inner self.

"Yes, Master. I can feel it." Isen wasn't afraid of whatever dark figures lurked in the forest. He was afraid of the dark, and not because he thought the dark would harm him, but that it would seduce him and lure him. Irrational perhaps, but he felt more at ease knowing that Izel Thral, his master, was by his side.

Master Thral continued. "I don't think I've ever seen such a large team assembled for a single mission. These cultists must be a serious threat."

Isen nodded. He figured it was true. He was still a novice at mission work, but this was a sizeable group of Jedi. Until it was time to move out, Isen decided to focus on the brighter side of things, things that brought him joy. The forest was saturated with Dark energy, yes. But it was a forest. There were likely blood-thirsty cult members in the forest that would like to harvest his blood for some dark, cultish reason, but sleeveless was an option.

Isen's lips curled into a grin for just a fraction of a second at his inner thoughts before resorting back to the even, sober countenance that people had come to expect from him.

Weiss met the older Jedi Master's joke'n'greet bowing his head slightly as a faint smile appeared across the otherwise stoic young man's face. He noticed the assembled strike team come together with two individual's sticking out the most being a Jedi from the Vratix species that seemed to have her padawan with her from what Weiss could gather, and a female Zeltron. Her reason for sticking out being that she was the only non-Jedi individual here, instead representing the Sector Rangers which in itself wasn't a strange occurance as the Jedi Order worked closely with Sector Rangers on numerous occasions.

In a marvelous display of his almost non existent social skills instead of greeting any of his fellow comrades on this mission Weiss spoke out about the matter of the situation, mostly addressed to Max that was closest to him but loud enough for others to hear if they payed attention. ''I took the liberty of trying to probe out this area...'' he said referring to him standing at the edge of the forest while waiting for the rest of the team. ''There seemed to be a couple of life forms that are moving away from our direction. Two or three I'd say but my sensing abilities are admittedly not that advanced to tell anything more than that.'' he delivered the lines in a dry yet firm almost emotionless manner, his head turning back at the direction of the forest. ''It is most likely a scout team that was either positioned here purposely or they were making rounds. In either way I believe that they had spotted our freighters on arrival and are going to alert the others. If that means another small team or the full brunt of their forces I cannot say.''

The young man was already treating the mission as if it were a battlefield not dismissing the option of a full on attack or even ambush right off the bat. Perhaps not the worst thing to be mindful of but his execution could definitely use some work. ''That being said they are reported to be favoring bladed melee weapons, only a couple of bowcaster wielders reported, I believe that could have something to do with this supposed blood fixation ?'' he inquired, suggesting he wanted the older Master's thoughts on this matter before quickly continuing ''Which in reality could work to our advantage. Non Force sensitives with swords and knives are not exactly what I'd consider a substantial threat.''

So not only was this a horror film setting but they had their horror film antagonists as well.

Max had to admit that he hadn't been expecting things to just shift together as well as they did like that but he would also have been happier if there had been bright sunshine and birds chirping. Watching people trying very earnestly to be intimidating and scary when there was brightness and light all around them never got old.

He eyed Weiss at the end.

"Did you skip history class kid?"
he asked him with a small frown and a more serious air, "I grew up in the Tion Cluster. Do you know what I saw a lot of during my time there? Mandalorians."

Max smirked a little bit.

"Non-Force sensitives with swords and knives can gut you just as well as any Sith people."
he reminded the group as a whole, before lowering his voice a little bit, "Remember Weiss, there are always going to be people capable of things you thought impossible. When you were a kid it was impossible for someone to lift a starfighter without even touching it - and now I'm telling you that people without the Force are not a non-issue. That being said... we're all here to follow your lead, this is your time to shine. If you need anything or want to discuss it I'm here but otherwise? You got this, right?"

Hannibal had been unusually quiet on the freighter ride from the city to the drop point. He had spent that time in something resembling contemplation, his thoughts and emotions closed off from the senses of others. For the present campaign he'd opted for his armour, though for the trip his helmet sat in his lap. Two silver-plated lightsabers of old Imperial era design were clipped to his belt, along with his RSKF, combat fusioncutter, and numerous other generic Jedi utility belt goodies and miscellaneous items. He was certainly prepared, as usual.

The young Jedi didn't look up until the pilot, a Zeltron Ranger, announced they would soon be landing. When the ship touched down he stood, tucking his helmet under his arm and stepping down the departure ramp. He retrieved a cigarra from one of his pouches and lit it, exhaling a cloud of smoke above his head. This place was very obviously soaked in the Dark Side, and even though its influence couldn't make its way past Hannibal's defenses, the intensity was worrying. In response to Max's nod of greeting his expression shifted into a familiar grin and he raised a hand.

"Yo! What a mess this place is, eh?" he commented cheerily toward the group at large, his levitous demeanor in stark contrast to the seriousness of most of the other Jedi. Right up until the white-haired Knight started talking about the non-threatening nature of people without the Force. Hannibal's expression didn't really change so much as become static and still, his gaze turning to look at Weiss, sizing him up while Max corrected him. Arrogance. The young man's words spoke of a misplaced pride in himself and his power, and he had the demeanor of someone who was at a distance from others around him. He would be watched.

"Don't underestimate your opponent, kiddo, that's a good way to die. You're a Force user, not immune to knives," he added on to Max's statements with a distinctly sardonic tone before turning back to look at Max himself. "I'm not. I'm here to help take down a cult. I don't recognize this kid's authority," he informed him, waving his hand dismissively and taking another drag from his cigarra. He was being intentionally impolite here in disregarding Weiss. The response to such behavior was often quite telling, and the young man would have to do so without the advantage of reading Hannibal's intent through the Force. Between his mental shielding and the advantages of his species, the Jedi Master's thoughts and feeling might as well have not existed at all for all a person could pick up without attempting in advisably invasive.

That little situation aside, without the doubt the cultists already knew they were here. It's not like they had been quiet on the approach. Not Hannibal's ideal set up, frankly, but it also wasn't planned out by him. They would just have to adapt to a more straightforward approach.

Nara really didn't want to leave Nar Shaddaa. There was a lot to sort out, mop up and deal with. It didn't feel safe to leave the place in the aftermath, and despite her intentions, she couldn't help but worry about her nascent clinic on the moon. It must be rammed full. Not the ideal time to leave her pet project but when the council says jump, you say...

Well, she would like to tell them where to shove it, but they were in charge and Nara was trying the whole follow orders without endlessly bitching thing again. Besides, dark side cultists seemed like a major problem that needed be sorted sooner rather than later, so at least it was for a worthy mission.

She'd kept to herself for most of the time on the transport. She wasn't much in the mood for talking. Just tending to her droid and making lists of supplies for when she'd return to Nar Shaddaa, wondering if there'd be a chance to swing by Ajan Kloss to pick up some gear and talk to one of the masters and... uuugggh it never ends.

She approached the group after they landed, seeing a bunch of familiar faces. Master Tionson looked much the same, aside from a few extra scars. It must have been... a long time since they'd worked together last. Master Hannibal too, which put Nara at more ease. Fiach too, who also received a wave and a smile. Some white-haired Knight she'd never met. And finally, Izel and her padawan. She approached the both of them, giving them a warm grin.

"Izel. Isen." Izel seemed serious, and for good reason. They were both still wary after the madness on Nar Shaddaa. She too could feel the weird, cloying ooze in the air of the dark side. It felt like being slowly submerged in charged-up oil and fluid. Sorta seeped in and made you feel awful. Not that Nara had even been dunked in oil before...

"This seems pretty serious if all of us are here. Two masters and a bunch of Knights? A cult that uses blood?" The report she'd read on the way sounded more like a bad holo-film than anything real. Her eyes scanned over to the woods, vision flitting between the trees. They could just be sitting ducks here.

"I don't like this. Not one bit."

Elara looks around at the group of Jedi as soon as she is on the ground. What a cool bunch. There is that white hair guy that seemed like he could use with a smile, a very strange insectoid jedi with his student perhaps, a younger looking human, and an older man that just waved at her. He seemed fun. She nods her head at his direction briefly while he goes back to talking to the Jedi that seemed to be in charge, the white hair dude.

"Yo! What a mess this place is, eh?"

Elana snickered softly as she is approached by another jedi that looked around her age. Finally someone with a sense of humour. She looks at the young jedi, giving him a quick appraisal. Very good looking, she thinks as a small smirk forms on her lips. That disappears quickly though as she hears the conversation of the white haired jedi with the older master that waved her. Wow. Never mind that he knew she was there, that is beyond arrogance. Seems the young man really needed a reminder. Before she could open her mouth, though, the handsome jedi already spoke. She couldn't help but grin as the young jedi refused the white haired man's authority. What a start. Didn't think jedi could squabble, but here they were.

"Yes, don't underestimate us non force users.. We could be just as dangerous..In more ways than you probably know" She smirks, and gives the so called leader of the group a wink to prove a point, putting both her hands on her side, her blaster hanging safely. She had no intention of being treated like a nobody, even if she was the odd one out. In fact, she liked to stand out. So might as well start now.

"This seems pretty serious if all of us are here. Two masters and a bunch of Knights? A cult that uses blood? I do not like this one bit"

Another Jedi? She seemed familiar as well. A little part of her was starting to wonder if she really should have been here at all, but she didn't want to show it. However, looking around, the place really did feel creepy.

"Yes seriously. This cultists sounds awful., And maybe we shouldn't stand here for too long..." She says, easing her tone into a slightly more serious one. She didn't want to drag the mood, but at the same time she didn't want anyone to think she didn't take her job seriously at the end.

The moment Weiss mentioned the scouting party Izel would lower her head and reach out with her Force sense, trying to identify the cultists herself. The task was easy enough, the three individuals were practically soaked in the dark side. And they were getting further away with every passing moment. The Vratix raised her head again in time to watch things immediately deteriorate, with Master Grayza already getting into an argument with the white haired Jedi over some comment he had made.

"Oh dear..." Izel murmured to herself with a sigh. Now was really not the time to be getting antagonistic. It wasn't good for morale for their authority figures to be bickering. She wondered if it might be the strong presence of the dark side that was bringing this out but hoped the Masters would be stronger than that. When the Zeltron ranger brought up the point of moving Izel seized the opportunity to step forward and pipe in.

"I agree," She said loudly, trying to gain the Masters' attention. "If we're discovered by the cult before we have the opportunity to take stock of their numbers and capabilities it could be disastrous. We should send an advance team to try and intercept the scouts before they report our presence. I volunteer." Izel could move quickly in a forest like this, and her Force sense would help her to track down their enemies in no time. She would still like at least one more of the company to come with her for when they engaged their foe, being that there were three of them. But for the whole group to go running after them might result in stumbling into a trap. If the cult had set up such defenses it would be better that only one or two of them fall into it rather than the entire group getting caught unawares.

Once again Weiss poor choice of words had gotten him into some sort of trouble. Master Tionson was indeed right and seemed to be geared towards correcting but also encouraging the young Jedi Knight further. The other man however was not as kind. Noticing the familiarity between Max and the man in question - Hannibal, along side with how he carried himself Weiss quickly deduced that this had to be the second of the two Jedi Master's assigned to this mission. He joined Max in schooling Weiss on his brash words before almost interrupting his fellow Jedi Master "I'm not. I'm here to help take down a cult. I don't recognize this kid's authority." Raised with almost quite literal military discipline, and the fact his father was a respected general Weiss always knew how to display a proper degree of discipline of his own and the respect of ranks. Though he was the first Jedi assigned to this mission he wouldn't have any problems considering himself in charge of the assignment if it not for the two Jedi that clearly outranked him, in both experience and, well, rank.

Bowing his head the white haired youth spoke ''I- My apologies, I meant no offense. Forgive my foolishness'' this being addressed to not only the masters but the Zeltron Sector Ranger that had approached them though the girl really didn't seem like the type to take offense. Though Weiss was never one to display active disrespect or dismissal of his superior's lessons or scolding he was still also not one to abandon his own thoughts and beliefs even if not expressing them vocally. Though he did feel a brush of shame coming over him as the masters quickly dismissed his statement as simple arrogance he kinda still stood by what he had said, even though he didn't outwardly show it. Sure the threats from non Force sensitive individuals are as real as ever(knowing full well after he had almost lost his life to a Sith soldier on Coruscant during the Ranger HQ attack) he was under the impression that the forces they would be facing here are much less complex and far more straight forward in their approach as well as lacking in proper equipment. Still, even if he had miraculously chosen the correct words to express his thoughts they were still quite rooted in overconfidence.

The Vratix Jedi soon approached the edge of the forest the three were standing on and proposed to send a scout team of their own to intercept the enemy, even going as far as to volunteer herself in the same sentence. ''I'll go with you.'' Weiss replied before turning a head towards the two Masters ''That is if you don't mind.'' addressing Hannibal and Max, realizing that he had once again made the impression of arrogance and deciding to somewhat treat the previous slip up with a clear display of respect.

jesus-fernandez-garcia-jesusfgjamyzgenius-freedonnadd-6.jpg

The temple inside the forest

The figure known as The Priest stood atop of a large stairway that seemed to descend into a circular wide ritual chamber. ''Father, the Jedi are here. We have sensed their presence on their arrival and a group of scouts was dispatched to give us specific information about the arriving party, they are expected to return soon.'' he spoke to the Pauan male standing in the center of the circular chamber clad in yellow and red robes that covered most of his body, revealing only his white eyes. ''Good. Bring in our friends... we must begin the preparations immediately.'' Father said with a raspy sigh. ''Right away, Father.''

Hannibal wasn't the teaching type - this was news to literally no one who had actually met the man before.

Max had, in fact, met Hannibal before so was even less surprised by his curt take down of Weiss. It was his prerogative to work on helping Weiss so he didn't hold it against Hannibal was doing what he always did. Needling people was as easy for his friend as breathing was for other people.

He just gave the young Knight a little shrug - he wasn't going to reassure the young man because being told things like this was kind of part of the deal when it came to being a Jedi. Often people weren't very nice to them at all.

Max looked around for a moment as Weiss and Izel began to make a little plan. He shrugged a little bit and started walking into the forest.

"I'm going to go ahead and make for the biggest source of the Dark Side around here. It's not exactly like a compass but..."

But it was pretty noticeable.

"You guys want to scout ahead? Best you hustle to be ahead of me! Hans, you coming with me or you going to supervise?"
he grinned, "Cus I'm going for a Walk."

Joining here as allowed by Six in the Mission Pack thread, what up my jedi boys and girls!

Jago had no formal reason for being on Onderon. He didn't have any connection to the king or the royals who ruled the place. He'd simply shown up as the light guided, like most places he went. What the Matukai did have was the ability to listen. It'd only taken a few days for him to hear about the strange happenings in what the locals called "The Blood Forest". Hell Jago had almost laughed the first time he'd heard the ridiculous name, but before long he could tell that the people truly feared the place. He'd heard rumors of disappearances, cult sightings, and even blood rituals; all connected to the dark side.

This was how the Nautolan had found himself taking a walk out to this forest. He needed to take a look for himself and if need be put an end to these cultists. So he made his way into the forest, and suppressed the light inside him as best he could to not give himself away too quickly. It was only minutes before Jago could practically taste the taint of the darkness in the place. "Guess the rumors were more than rumors yeah," He muttered to himself as he walked. He didn't try to be too stealthy but he kept to the shadows of the many trees and tried to keep sight lines to a minimum as he wandered.

Years of living on the edge of civilization had taught Jago some decent survival and tracking skills and it didn't take long for him to pick up signs of comings and goings in the brush. Could just be the locals but something told the Nautolan it wasn't that simple. That was when he heard the sound of ships landing in the distance, but very close to the forest. Couldn't be the cultists as every rumor he'd heard stated they were a very local problem. Jago made his way toward the sound, now moving from tree to tree and quietly. He could see the ships in the distance after a few minutes. He risked a very small use of the force, channeling the light into his eyes to enhance his vision. After a moment he could see the group almost as if he was standing next to them. He noticed the garb and sabers that hung from their belts, Jedi! As he looked he grew even more ecstatic as he noticed Nara! They had a brief encounter on Ryloth and Jago believed it went well. She could be his in with this group if need be.

Jago kept an eye on the group for a few moments before he relaxed his eyes. There were a lot of them gathered which to him only meant one thing. This was a bigger problem than he thought. In the distance he saw several of the group begin to move into the forest. He wasn't ready to meet them just yet, for the time being he'd simply shadow them at a distance.

She’d visited the planet before, and its moon. The former was part of some story the Force seemed to be playing out – and it was evident she was a supporting character in that tale. The latter was on behalf of the Order and was a dangerous mission when she was still a Padawan.

This time it was an even more significant visit – as the stakes were higher. She could feel the tell-tale sign of Darksiders as she landed. To Fiach, the Dark side of the Force felt tainted and if pressed to give it substance, would describe it as oily. The fact she was with so many allies was both positive – given their number and negative – given this reflected the magnitude of the challenge.

Even a non-Force sensitive could see the impact of the cult. The trees were clearly in keeping with the area’s newly gained title of ‘Blood Forest.’

As ever, Fiach took time not actively engaged as a time to meditate, so she spent the journey from the city to the forest silent, eyes closed and in contemplation. She sported her usual Jedi robes in shades of brown and beige and her saber was – as ever – clipped to her belt. And even in meditation, a smile played on her lips.

The indication that landing was in two minutes prompted her eyes to open but she remained still and tranquil as they touched down.

Finally, she took stock of those around her. Most she was familiar with – but not all. She gave Izel and Nara a wave of recognition. And then she listened – as she invariably did. If she had something useful to say, she would share it, but for now she took in as much information as others were prepared to share and catalogue it. Then process it and add it to what she already knew, before revising the latter.

For a young Padawan, the power plays and internal politics did not interest him. He was here to get experience and learn. That said, there seemed to be some animosity in their ranks. Isen didn't know either of them, and it did not interest him. What he did know is that he would like to distance himself from the arguments if at all possible. As Isen spent more time around Jedi Knights, Jedi Masters, and other padawans on missions of substance, he was slowly becoming more and more comfortable interacting with them. Still, he had no station to have an opinion on much of anything unless asked, and may not even in cases where he might be asked. Truth be told, Isen preferred it that way. He didn't crave leadership or social status like some...not even some Jedi. He just wanted to be respected and trusted when the fodder hit the fan.

"We should send an advance team to try and intercept the scouts before they report our presence. I volunteer," his master had suggested. It had some support and another volunteer. Isen felt it prudent to follow his master should it be allowed.

"Master, I'd like to join you on the scout team if you'd agree to it," Isen said. Isen's wisdom and experience may not be up to the standards of many of the Knights and Masters on this expedition, but his combat skill was sufficiently ahead of schedule. And, should things go south on the scouting party, Isen may actually be a valuable asset in the group surviving the ordeal.

Oh Izel. One day we'll all listen, Nara thought as she watched Izel's brave, vain attempt to shepherd a bunch of egos and personalities together. You'd think that with the crap we're dealing with here, we could be a little nicer. Like I can talk, though. Still, she thought Izel's plan was decent. She certainly wasn't going anywhere without a bunch of Jedi at her back.

"I'll go too," she said, raising her hand. "I put my faith in you and your padawan again," she said with a smile, remembering the last time they'd ended up in a mess and Izel had come to 'rescue' her. With her hands behind her back, she moved closer to Izel, Isen and Weiss, taking a look around. She noticed the Sector Ranger hanging around too, stating she wished to get going. Nara said nothing, finding it hard to hide the distrust on her face.

Don't put me with the Ranger don't put me with the Ranger don't put me with the Ranger...

For a second, she felt something. A presence, barely there, more like a soft echo of something familiar. She blinked, trying to hone in on it... but as quick as it'd come, it had already gone. She had no idea what it was, but it made her nose twitch. She rubbed it gently, feeling a strange rush of friendly animosity.

"Hm. I just..." she started to say, looking over her shoulder, around at the forest. Nothing. Nothing at all. Probably just the refractions of the dark side or something. Yeah. That was it.

"We should get going. Place is freaking me out."

''I- My apologies, I meant no offense. Forgive my foolishness''

Elara just smiles and makes a dismissive gesture. "All good, no worries!" She liked to prove useful but not start arguments.

She then just listened to the rest of the group as for what they wanted to do. As the outsider, she didn't want to interject. In fact she thought it would be an interesting learning experience watching the Jedi in action. When the insectoid master suggested a scouting group, Elara decided that even as relatively nimble as she was, she would have slowed the rest of the jedi down, but she could help patrol the forest at least. She puts a hand on her blaster, ready to use it.

"Hmm maybe I'll just stay with the group behind. I do not want to be a burden or slow down the scouting group.." She looks around to see then who was left.

It seemed that the 'Frontline team' was assembled as after Izel's suggestion her padawan and Nara both stepped forward to volunteer. Weiss handed a small comm link to Max ''Since we're somewhat separating the team..'' and then made started to make his way inside the forest ''Alright, since we're trying to intercept their scout team no need to stress that we have to move fast but still.. be mindful of the surroundings, Force knows if they have some traps or something around the forest. You..'' he said looking at Izel ''Sorry I don't know your name but could you perhaps keep your 'senses on' as we traverse these grounds ? I'd gladly do it but it seems your sensing abilities far outmatch mine.'' he politely asked the Vratix Jedi noting on how precisely she was able to pinpoint the scouts earlier while he couldn't.

The team set out, moving as quickly as they could. Jumping and leaping over downed trees and logs as they rushed through the forest. What the Jedi didn't know however was that their enemy was already aware of their arrival, the scout team was there only to give precise information about their numbers. Weiss and the others were quickly covering the forest grounds and closing in on the three scouts as the men didn't really seem to rush their return to the camp, his eyes constantly scanning the surroundings on the lookout for a potential trap. Though his ability to sense wasn't as keen as Izel's as they were closing in on their targets he had an easier time sensing them through the Force and he clearly sensed that there was another group of men coming from the front of the retreating scouts and directly towards the Jedi team. He raised his hand as he ran signaling to those team members behind him ''Incoming!'' hoping that they had already sensed the approach. The incoming group was quite larger, about 7 to 10 men Weiss believed but wasn't quite sure and they were moving with much greater urgency than the retreating scouts and they were soon to reach the point where they'd be visible to the Jedi team.

Fiach continued to watch and listen. She was in no mood to voice an opinion unless it added something to the conversation – and believed that often, an extra voice made things worse and not better. So, she waited for the opinion-givers to play out their discussion and also allowed others to volunteer if they wanted. She was used to (and comfortable with) filling the role of what was needed. She typically was the one that performed the task nobody else wanted to do. Which suited her fine – especially at the moment.

The prospect of being in an advanced team was intriguing, but she held her tongue in case others wished to put their name forward. She was not surprised Isen did so and it made sense for him to remain with Izel anyway. Once Nara suggested she join them, Fiach wondered if either of the Masters would want to lead the group. Regardless, it seemed the team was formed and were moving off before they could be joined by any others. Anyway, it made sense for it to be a small force – if stealth was the priority.

For Fiach, the taint of the Darkside was interfering with her connection to the Force. Not blocking it as such, but making it in some way dirty – which meant she did not want to connect to it as deeply as she would usually do. Which no doubt explained why she was having trouble sensing anything much beyond what she could see.
