My character, Nier, is a Jedi Padawan send to Ilum in by his Master in an attempt to find a Crystal that will be used to create his first Lightsaber. The Master had decided to loan the young Padawan the keys to his Freighter, which in turn brought him to the ice covered wasteland of a planet.

Now, this is my first actual Thread, and I'd like to keep it smooth running, so I will be barring anyone related to the Empire, Sith, and Chiss from hopping on this Thread, everyone else is acceptable; of everyone that are able to join up, however, Jedi [Padawans] are preferred.

Standing at the base of the ramp of Master Christian's Freighter, Nier gripped the thick gray cloak in attempt to fend off the heinous, bone chilling wind that his body was currently being battered with. Teeth chattering loudly, the young man vowed that he would get his Master back for sending him to such a place, even if it was to help him craft his first Lightsaber. Afterall, the man could have warned him that it was this horrendously cold, it wouldn't have taken that much energy!

Now that he thought about it, the reason why Master Christian laughed was probably not of the joke that he made, but the very thought of him receiving a full blast of this planet's climate! "Yeah, I'm most definitely going to get back at him for this..." Nier breathed out, forming a large cloud in front of him before trudging off towards the Temple that supposedly held the Crystal Caverns below it. As soon as he walked off into the hostile (to him, at least) winds, the ramp of the Freighter sealed shut, and would remain so until the bearer of the Command Key came back to return to the Will of the Force orbiting the planet Typhon.

As he grew closer to the Temple, he could just barely make out some of the frozen structure's features and its surroundings. The Temple itself looked just like any other temple would, only frozen solid. On each side and behind the frozen structure however, were massive mountain ranges, which could not be fully seen due to the blizzard that pelted the poor soul. Less than ten minutes and he could practically feel his bones freezing solid from the accursed winds; this was enough motivation to make him trudge through the snow faster, reaching the Temple in minutes.

Stiffly, the Padawan pushed open the ice covered doors with effort, eventually squeezing through a large enough space to enter the Temple. There he walked deeper in, where he warmed himself back up and pulled down his hood, revealing his silver hair and blue eyes as he shook his head to rid it of frost. "Yes, it is decided... Master is going to get it when I get back to the Will..." Sighing, he looked around the interior of the massive structure with some awe, "So this is Ilum's Temple... could do without all the snow and ice..."

The young Jedi Padawan would stand there until he felt himself ready to press on towards the Crystal Caverns somewhere within the Temple. So focused was he that he did not notice a shadow of a large creature pass by...

The small, three-man transport descended rapidly, carrying only its pilot and not a person more. It was a borrowed ship, which the Padawan flying it completely intended to return to its proper place, 'The Will's' central Hangar. He'd received permission to take it, of course, but still, it didn't feel right to use another person's ship without them at least on board. The Keshiri brushed a few strands of his long silver hair from his face, muttering something about needing to get it cut, and then ran his fingers along the Padawan's braid there. He had yet to find a Master, and he only assumed that was because of his heritage.

He couldn't blame the Knights and Masters for not taking him on to train him; The Keshiri had, after all, made their first Galactic appearance with the Lost Tribe of the Sith, where they battled the Jedi and Republic. Of course, his ancestors had also helped Luke Skywalker and his son to track down the being Abeloth, but thanks to High Lord Taalon, a Keshiri, who had wanted to capture Abeloth, she escaped, and more chaos had ensued. In the end, it had been the Jedi who had claimed victory, and the Padawan was glad for that, but ever since, the Keshiri had received an extremely biased view by the rest of the Galaxy's inhabitants, Jedi or not.

Varike Kain Barral was a Keshiri who had been raised by humans on Coruscant, and so had been discovered at a young age by the Jedi and taken in to become one himself. He had fallen into the routines rather quickly, taking a liking to it all. So his life had continued, and now he was 15 and on Ilum to collect a crystal for his Lightsaber. He'd completed the thing, except for the crystal, and as he thought of this, he pulled out what would soon be the hilt to his Lightsaber. He smiled as he examined it, then, once he was finished, he clipped it on his belt and stood, heading to the ramp that would take him out into the bitingly cold winds of Ilum.

As he descended the boarding ramp, the temperature quickly went from comfortable to freezing. His teeth chattered, and he tried his best to use his control over the Force to keep himself warm. However, as he had not really learned much in the area of using the Force, and wouldn't until he had a real Master, it didn't do too much, so he drew his robes tighter around him and braved the frozen terrain that was Ilum. He forced himself onward, heading towards where he knew the Crystal Caverns were, underneath the Temple that was not too far away from the point where he'd landed. Up ahead, he managed to make out what looked like another ship, and smiled. There was already another Padawan here.

Hoping that he wouldn't be judged by his race yet again, he sped up his pace, and soon was able to see the entrance to Ilum's Temple. He moved as quickly as he could in the planet's frozen weather, and soon found himself walking into the Temple. He shoved against the frozen gates a bit until the ice that was keeping it shut gave, and he managed to push the gate open just enough for him to get through. He shook his long silver hair with its black streak, and then rubbed his hands along his light purple arms, attempting to warm himself up a bit now that he was out of the wind. Finally, after managing to adjust somewhat, he turned and took in his surroundings.

First, he would see if he could find that other person who was here. Then he would head with whoever it was down to the Caverns, because he was sure that it was another Jedi, and if there was a Jedi here at Ilum's Temple then they were here for a crystal. After brushing the snow from his body, he began to explore the area, searching for the person who had flown in on that freighter he'd passed outside. As he moved, he began to hum, just a random song he picked off the top of his head. He hummed because the silence was too much. He hummed because, for some reason, he felt like he wasn't safe...

The bounty hunter Aramas sped down in his freighter,The Corellian Saint, with the young jedi he was ordered to watch while he was to found his lightsaber crystal.

"Will you be quiet?!"Ara said as the boy tapped his foot anxiously."I'm sorry, but this is so cool!I get to find my first crystal!"He said as he looked at the big Vurk, studying Ara.

Ara landed the ship as they went out to the chilling wind and snow of the wasteland as Ara put his helmet on,the heaters inside warming him.

Deep within the Temple, Nier moved forward down one of the Temple's halls, determined to find this Crystal Cavern so that he could get away the planet's frigid elements. As he proceeded past a chamber door, his footsteps echoed throughout the large ice-laced room. The room itself was bare, and not truly anything to get excited over. However, in the side wall was an opening into what looked like a cavern.

Breathing out a sigh of relief, Nier began to move towards the opening when from that same opening came a large, furry beast.

The creature was covered in fur, and was on all fours as it came out of the cavern, eying the young Padawan. It had a rather thick tail raised from behind it, and growling, it showed off the nasty three rows of teeth that it possessed, a brownish saliva nearly pouring from its jaws.

Backing up slowly towards the center of the chamber, Nier breathed out slowly as he gripped the two-foot long hilt of the eight-foot (in total) blade that he kept wrapped up in bandages on his back. The Padawan looked at the creature dead on as it stood on its hind legs and reared its head.

"Looks like you'll get your first kill in years, Vergessenheit.." At his words, the large creature lunged forward in an attempt to kill, just as Nier's blade was swung from his back, the sheer force and speed in which he swung tearing the bandages off of the massive blade.

An inhuman roar of pain and agony echoed throughout the many halls of the Temple, going as far as the structure's entrance.

Varike heard the roar and whirled, immediately bolting in that direction. Whatever it was didn't sound friendly, and that also meant that the other Jedi had probably come across it. He leapt over a small piece of rubble, and found himself entering a wide area. Near a side exit was a huge, furry beast with white shaggy hair and a massive tail. It had three rows of teeth and extremely odd brown saliva. And it was attacking a Padawan, who was wielding some sort of big sword. He quickly noticed that it was not an enraged roar he was hearing, but a pained one. The beast had been struck by that strange and powerful sword.

Deciding that he needed to do whatever he could, he raced forward, leaping the last few feet to the thing's back. He landed on it, clenching the beast's fir as he climbed up its back towards the beast's neck. It was trying to shake him off however it could while it still had the sword embedded in it, somehow still alive even after such a horrible attack. He reached its neck, though, and his strong arms surrounded it. Varike clenched his teeth and ignored the pain as the beast slammed him against the wall, once, twice and thrice, refusing to let go as he slowly cut off the beast's airflow. He just had to keep holding on for the moment.

A gurgling sound began to accompany the beast's pained growls, and it began to grow sluggish in its movements. Finally, luck seemed to shine on the beast as it inadvertently slammed Varike up against a damaged collumn, a corner. He cried out in pain and let go, dropping the floor and stumbling out of the way of the now-collapsing collum. He paused for a moment, catching his breath and then turning to look at the other Padawan. "What the heck is this thing?!" he asked urgently, having never before seen something like it. He looked around, searching for something he could use as a weapon, and spotted a long, dagger-like shard of ice. He picked it up and took a stance, eying the beast carefully while he waited for a response.

James awoken at the sound of a roar echoed throughout the temple. He stood up his hilt in hand....he couldnt believe after the crash that he would be here so long, but if that roar meant that someone had landed he would investigate. With a deep breath he took a two step running start before leaping out of the cave he had been using for shelter. He was ony a padawan himself but his master had taught him how to sense another person in the force before his passing. He could sense two in the temple and two landing. Every few seconds while he was running, james had to brush snow out of his face. As he approached the temple james ignited his saber, the loud hum resonating with in the area he was in. In a brief moment e would be at the temple and find out whomm was there and what their intentions were. As he reached the stairs james jumped up the final three before entering the main hall, his breath was only heavy for a minuet and it seemed like the hum of his light saber was the only noise that was being made. Taking a deep breath james ventured deeper into the temple.

Nier was about to cleave the creature's head off when someone jumped onto its back and attempted to suffocate the thing before being violently knocked off. He glanced at the newcomer, who asked him as to what this thing was, an answer he did not have, so he simply remained silent as he set his sights back on the wounded creature.

The salivating abomination was missing its right forearm, of which was cut off with Nier's first strike with his blade. It was focused on the person who attempted to cut off its airway, and Nier took advantage of that with a cleaving blow to its leg in an attempt to bring it down, its staggering and sluggish movement making it an easy target thanks to the stranger. If he was successful, than he would follow up with a decapitating strike to the beast's thick and fur-covered neck, tearing its ugly head away from its body.

As james comtinued inward he had forgetten to shake the snow from his clothing as he was in such a hurry. As james made his way further and further in he could sense that two of the energies ha met with a third and a struggle was insueing. Soon e made his way to the caverns entrance standing there he could hear a man yell a question to another but no answer was given in a response.

As james slowly and carefully entered the entrance of the cavern he heard two distinct noises, one being what sounded like metal cutting threw flesh, and another being a loud thud. His grip on tightened around the hilt of his light saber, and his heart raced. He then ignited the saber once more, the silver reflecting off the ice. His light saber was unique because there were only four such crsytals in the known universe.

James rounded a corner his blue eyes staring at each of the two men for a moment. No word exited his lips it was obvious these two were both padawans but he knew not if they were jedi or sith. He had run into a few sith on the planet posing as jedi before and was alittle nervous as to who they really were, but with the expression he had on his face no one could tell.

Varike raised an eye when he was ignored, but thought nothing of it, instead focusing his attention on the beast as the other Padawan swung his sword around in a swing at the beast's leg. As the sword came in to slice the beast's leg off, Varike brought the ice-shard back in a reverse grip, and then snapped his arm forward, sending it flying towards the beast with a powerful throw. It soared through the air and struck the beast in the shoulder, penetrating deeply enough to cause it to shatter inside of the arm and keep pieces of ice stuck inside when the ice slid out because it was too slick.

Because the ice came out, though, the beast's blood was able to flow out more quickly. Varike smiled; that meant a quicker end to the fight. Casting his eyes around, he saw another piece of ice, this one more in the shape of a sword, with one side jagged and the other nice and smooth, with one end of it a spot with no jagged section, the closest to a natural hilt as he could ever hope to find in this sort of time frame. He ran to the strangely-shaped ice shard and picked it up, giving it a few swings to test the weight, and then turned back to the fight, trying to find a spot to jump back in. He didn't really think he'd be needed anymore, though, as he saw the other Padawan coming around with a return strike aimed for the beast's neck.

"I suppose I'll do what I can," muttered Varike, and then he came in from the side, towards the beast's flank. He swung the ice shard, jagged side towards the beast, and smiled as it bit deeply. He'd come in on the side that had lost its arm, so he was completely unhindered in his attack. He moved his ice-weapon in a sawing motion on its exit from the beast's body, with caused, once again, shards to come out and stick inside. He drew back, threw the now-useless ice-weapon out to the side, and backed away to see what the other Padawan's attack had done, since he had been the one with the real weapon, and not the makeshift one made of ice.

Thanks to the other Padawan, the creature's attention was divided between him and Nier, something that he took advantage of again. With a loud shout, and Vergessenheit raised, Nier brought it down onto the neck of the fur covered creature just as it turned to look at the source of the noise. The massive, black blade sliced cleanly through a majority of the flesh, causing the beast to reach for its neck just as it fell backwards, landing solidly on the snow covered floor. The head rolled towards the purple skinned individual and stopped at his feet.

Taking a moment to catch his breath, Nier swung the blade to the side, ridding it of any blood and gore before standing up and setting the eight-foot weapon on his shoulder. Looking at the stranger, he spoke, "My name is Nier, and I thank you for your aid. I see that you have a knack for making weapons out of strange things." He tilted his head towards the wounds caused by the ice that the young man used, "Regardless, who are you, and what are you doing here?"

He didn't mean to sound rude, but someone other than him on this planet seemed very unlikely. He only got to this planet through his Master's ship, which already had the coordinates of Ilum punched in. So unless this person was a Jedi, then there was a chance that there may be some trouble for him.

Ara arrived in the cave behind the padawan, who ran ahead, looking through it.

"Hurry up and find that crystal,my kind doesn't like the cold."Ara said, trembling a bit.

"Just a minute...."The padawan said,as hlooked across the walls.

Ara turned to see nothing but them in the cavern,as he looked around, putting his special made Vurk helmet on,from Corellia.

Varike smiled, and then took a quick bow. "My name is Varike Barral, a Padawan of the Jedi Order. I'm here to find a Lightsaber crystal. I've finished the construction of my Lightsaber except for the crystal," he said, and as he spoke, he reached into his cloak and brought out the hilt he planned on using for his Lightsaber. He held it out for Nier to see for a few moments, and then clipped it back on his belt. "Anyways, if you're here for the same reason, and I believe you are, then could you point me in the right direction? I kind of got lost in my rush over here after I heard that thing roaring," he finished, thrusting a finger at the dead beast.

And where had that thing come from? He had never been to the Crystal Caverns here on Ilum before, of course, but he was pretty sure that there weren't supposed to be any kinds of creatures down here, let alone something like this. What was it? And were there more than one of them? He shook his head in exasperation, wishing he had the answers to those questions. For now, all he could do is focus on getting a crystal for his Lightsaber so that he could complete the weapon and better defend himself if more of those beasts decided to show up. And if they didn't, well, that was great, too. He would prefer not to have too fight too much in the Temple, as it was such a weakened structure.

He returned his attention to Nier now, eying that sword of his. "With something like that, I fail to see why you would need a Lightsaber, though. The way you wield that sword will make it harder for you to wield a Lightsaber. There's obviously a lot of weight in that weapon, while a Lightsaber's blade would have no weight at all. Of course, I'm sure you already know that, and that I'm just annoying you by rambling on about things you already know," he said. He gave a little shrug, as if to say, 'Just tryin' to be helpful', and then waited for Nier to respond to him.

At the mention of the stranger, Varike, being a Padawan in search for his Lightsaber crystal, Nier relaxed somewhat. When he brought out his Lightsaber, Nier quickly glanced at it, taking in as many details as he could about it before the young man clipped it back to his belt. The Padawan nodded at the other when he stated that Nier was a Padawan himself in search of a Crystal, "If you are speaking of the Caverns, then I believe that they are located somewhere in there," he tilted his head towards the dark opening in the wall, from which the creature came out of.

"As for my blade,"
Nier set the massive weapon onto his back, where it miraculously stayed, "it is easy for me to wield. The reason I am here for a Crystal to make my Lightsaber is because my Master sees it as a Symbol of the Jedi Order, and as for those questions, it is no trouble." The cloaked youth began walking towards the cavern entrance before stopping just short of it, "Are you coming?"

With that, Nier turned and descended into the caverns, footsteps echoing and fading.

OOC: Due to lack of posting, I've been given permission to do this in order to move Nier's story along; Final Post.

After what felt like minutes wandering around in the darkness, Nier eventually came upon a dim light. Edging carefully towards it, Nier set his hand on the handle of Vergessenheit, just in case he was about to run face-to-face with another one of those creatures he met just outside of the entrance to the cavern. Quickly turning the corner, the Padawan's eyes widened at the sight that was before him.

A large cavern stood before him, blue and green crystals cropped up from practically every crevice and corner he could see. Light was somehow reflecting off of or from the crystals, lighting up the chamber with a vibrant, yet dim, blues and greens, leaving it a sight to behold.

Nier let his hand drop as he slowly walked into the radiant chamber, allowing his eyes to drift over the countless crystalline formations that were embedded into the cavern's walls, ceiling, and ground. As he neared one of the pillars, he felt something of a pull.

Nier stopped, and looked at the source of the pull; it was a small blue crystal that stood by itself. Kneeling down, the Padawan dislodged the crystal; it was small enough to fit into the palm of his hand, a blue color that seemed to shimmer brightly from the light. Just as he turned to leave, he felt yet another pulse, this time coming from a large outcropping of crystals. Stepping towards it, he singled out a fairly large green crystal, and with some effort, he pried it from its binds. This crystal was far larger than the blue one, and more of a dull shade of green. Looking around one more time, the young man left the chamber, feeling only the pull from the two crystals he had within his grasp.

It was time to leave this frozen wasteland and head back to the Will of the Force.
