Excerpt · Description · Notable locations

The Dawn Temple, was an old Jedi temple built on plateau of Mount Tellec on the planet Spinitr and was designed to be a spiritual Retreat for Jedi who had lost their ways in the light side of the Force or were looking for redemption from the dark side of the Force; hence the name of Dawn Temple. Though a place designed as a rehabilitation centre, it held a darker secret - it could be used as a prison for Dark Side users.

Description

The Dawn Temple was a small temple built on a plateau of Mount Tellac on the planet Spintir; as such the Temple extended within the natural tunnels that had surrounded it. The Temple is small in design and is only about 50 meters tall and extending about 20 meters in width. The walls that surrounded the temple were 40 meters in length.

The Dawn Temple is designed to look pyramid in shape, except it doesn't have the sharp points on top; instead the top of the table is flattened and is square. The Entrance of the temple was guarded by a set of large and heavy double doors compromised of phrik and cortosis alloys, that could not be opened with the Force without having significant power and exerting one's self; the doors could be sealed if it ever came under attack (although due to their size, they do not close instantly, despite the mechanisms built into them) and has walls surrounding the temple entirely, above the mountainous terrain that also surrounds the temple. Flanking either side of the plaza beyond the monstrous gate were two large obelisk that jutted up past the natural terrain. The obelisk provided symbolism but also housed two large anti-vehicular turbolasers that could double as Anti-Air defense; these turrets are automated. Once entry was gained, the individual was greeted by a large ornate plaza that boasted 2 obelisk on either side of a main path that lead up to a grand staircase resting before the main doors. A secondary entrance to the plaza is located on the east side but is protected by a singular heavy door made in the same fashion as the main gate. (This entrance was smaller)

The Entrance to the actual temple itself were large narrow doors that offered a form of protection from any direct assaults, but the doors were not constructed to the specficcations of the first line of defense. These doors were made of thick stone, but just because they were stone didn't mean they could easily be blown away or knocked down. On either side of the temple door is a statue of Jedis clad in robes and carved of stone.

Inside, the temple was composed of an a few classrooms/activity rooms, and various shrines. The central chamber also had a large fountain that always had purified water from the waters below. The temple had various hallways that would lead to certain sections of the temple and also access to a few of the natural caverns ran through the temple to act as additional meditation chambers. However these caverns were very high up into the mountain and it would be impossible to dig into them from down below. There were also two libraries that could be accessed with authorization, and like most temples there were several hidden passageways leading to secrets of the temple. The temple also contained 3 sublevels that dug deep into the mountain. Each serving their own unique purpose.

The Dawn Temple did not contain any jutting obvious spires like the other temples, most of the Chambers that served a purpose were in separate off shoots within the temple. There was a simple Chamber that was donned with a single seat in the middle of the room while directly across a half-moon arrangements of seats. This room was designed for Masters to meet for discussions of day to day and if the council required a secure meeting area. This room was restricted to Masters and those given permission to enter.

The Sublevels were what contained most of the facilities and secrets of the Dawn Temple. The Dawn Temple did not offer places for civilians or delegates as the temple catered to a specific clientele within the Jedi Order. The temple was a place of healing and rehabilitation of those who'd lost their ways, as such they did contain the (while not most) modern of medical technologies and techniques that would be required for tending to the sick and injured; the temple was devoted to the cleansing of the Dark Side and the healing of a Jedi's spirit. It's small size was created to be a more intimate treatment and training environment, to minimize contact with others and have a better control of their powers and studies; the Dawn Temple could even serve as a zone for those who were unstable, or required extra guidance.

The temple contained a small holocron chamber hidden within a secret cavern hidden behind one of the archives, the chamber was not designed to hold anything of utmost importance for any length of time and if they did contain such a valuable artifact it would often be collected soon after it was retrieved. The current Jedi Keepers of The Dawn Temple were also experimenting with a form of automated control; a control by three specially designed holocrons and gatekeepers, however that system has not be deployed. There were also two security control centres that required authorization to enter unimpeded.
The first sublevel was guarded by an External security centre and housed a few suites reserved the visiting Jedi Masters as well as reserved meditation chambers and the seat of government of the temple, it also housed the functional facilities, like power generators, and security controls; this also held some of the temple staff and more specifically the Temple Guards assigned to the Dawn Temple.
The second sublevel was protected by an Internal Security centre as well as sturdy, reinforced doors with advanced locking mechanisms that blocked anyone not approved for entry by the Keeper of the Temple, or the Caretaker of First Knowledge. This sub level was the inner sanctum of the temple and housed the facilities necessary to treat Jedis that had begun the fall to the Dark Side, this was the level that also contained the main archives and held information on the patients kept within. In some cases civilians who's minds had been enthralled by a Fallen Jedi or Dark Side user would be brought here for treatment. A series of tranquil and secluded lounges, therapy rooms and dormitory quarters make up a substantial subterranean wing. Permission to access the treatment areas had to be granted by the Keeper of the Temple or above, and the Masters that served as the healers and pathfinders of the fallen were rotated out on a regular basis, for treating so many tainted could take a toll upon a hearty master.
The third and final sublevel was the most restricted of all levels, this level contained 'The Vaults' which was a Jedi Prison. The Vaults contained many stasis cells that would hold the strongest of Dark Side users or Jedi alike. This was where those who had fully succumbed to the Dark Side and maybe beyond redemption where held until a certain time could be formed to past judgement. This third level was the mostly highly secure and defended level that required explicit permission from the Caretaker of Knowledge to access. Even the Keeper of the Temple could not grant permission to enter here (though they had permission to descend into),

Temple Defenses included the 2 Large Turbolasers as mentioned previously as well as various security measures throughout the temple; there were two additional lasers hidden atop The Dawn Temple itself via hatches. The Dawn Temple was designed as a place of healing and rehabilitation, as such the interior defenses are non-lethal. There are several sentry guns hidden within the plaza, central chamber. There were also Force Fields that could be engaged to temporarily hinder movement within the temple; essentially there was force field emitters stored within the walls of the main choke points in the temple. Finally there are security cameras mounted throughout the temple and on the grounds, this allowed for the guards to monitor rehabilitation efforts and to have advanced warning to seal the temple if necessary. Just inside the main gate is a security checkpoint where visitors and residence are screened and relieved of any contraband, including lightsabers. (Within the temple, specific equipment is given)

Notable locations

The following list details notable locations within The Dawn Temple, as well as any relevant security information:

  • The Perimeter: With 40 meter tall walls surrounding the The Dawn Temple and nestled deep within the many points of the natural terrain, and resting atop much of the natural points as well. The Walls provided protection from ground assaults and to prevent 'escapes' (though not seen as a prison). There are two entrances to the grounds and they are both protected by turobolasers and are viewed as anti-personnel. Each of the turrets faces outward covering the approach. There are two hefty cannons hidden with the two obelisks pushing into the sky that serve as anti-air and anti-vehicular turrets as well as two hidden on the roof of the temple. The main doors are often opened but can be closed in the event of an attack. The doors are comprised of phrik and cortosis alloys to resist lightsaber attacks and their weight alone makes it difficult to force open. A security checkpoint is located just within the main gate and is equipped with force field emitters that would hinder movement if engaged - these emitters are not on unless an attack/riot were to break out.
  • The Plaza: Is the first greeting you get once you past through the main entrance security checkpoint. The Plaza surrounds the front of the the temple and serves as it's gardens and outings. The Plaza is dotted with flora and fountains, small groves and shallow caves. There is a statue garden also present. Upon entering the Plaza you are on a raised platform that leads directly to the large temple doors; this path is flanked by small obelisk that have words of wisdom and Jedi tenant carved into them (4 total); each also contains sentry turrets hidden within. The Temple Doors are also flanked by statues of Faceless Jedi clad in robes; beyond those doors lies more force field emitters. In addition, nestled in some parts of the mountain overlooking the entrance house bunkers for guards with blaster rifles to fire upon the plaza.
  • The Antechamber: Beyond the temple doors is an Antechamber that connects the temple's grand hall and the plaza. Here there is a tranquil setting laid out with various flora scattered about, it provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for those who enter. Contained in here is 4 hidden sentry guns in the ceiling and force field emitters that blocked escape or entrance. However, other than the door to the temple there are no doors here and the grand hall can be clearly seen. The Antechamber granted access to the blaster ports mentioned above, as well as a small barracks just off the chamber for a few temple guards but it wasn't the main barracks.
  • The Great Hall: The center of the Dawn Temple’s ground level is taken up by
a massive assembly hall, used for important ceremonies and gatherings by the Jedi attending the facility A small antechamber separates the Great Hall from the main doors of the temple, leading out to a circular plaza dominated by a massive fountain and pool. The fountain’s waters run pure and displays a holocron replica surrounded by the a pool as the water flows onto the holocron before running the channels carved into the statue and into the pool below. Past the fountain, staircases ascend to a pillared chamber with a prominent dais and podium facing the entrance. There are Security doors that lead to the sublevels of the temple, aiding the already impressive measures put in place to hide the temple’s secrets.
  • Central Chambers & Quarters: Surrounding the Great Hall are a number of smaller chambers and hallways housing everything from memorials to past caretakers, indoor gardens, and a balcony overlooking the grounds.
Recovering Jedi can spend time relaxing and meditating in these areas; they retain a tranquil atmosphere. The view from the balcony is especially impressive, covering not only the western half of the grounds, but also the slopes of Mount Tellec and much of the valley beyond. A stairway in one of the western hallways leads down to a small living area where the staff and and residence dwell. Although below the ground level, it is still above the sublevels proper, and it has no access to the lower reaches of the temple. The quarters comprise a dozen cloistered cells, each with a simple bed, a work desk, and a closet. Shared facilities such as a kitchen, a refresher, and storerooms for supplies surround the cells and allow for comfortable, if frugal, living.
  • The Archives: The Dawn Temple has two Archives that contain various writings and recordings. The Main Archives were located just past the internal security centre have reinforced and securely locked doors on both sides and required authorization by The Keeper of the Temple or Caretaker of First knowledge as it was considered their restricted section. Inside the archives are the computer terminals that allow access to the temple’s records. These provide information including the mundane details of the temple’s supplies and logistics as well as the histories of its former patients and the circumstances of their stay.
The Secondary archives was located on either side of the Great Hall and contain an assortment of Ancient Jedi carvings and data recordings that contained Jedi teachings. The secondary archives could be accessed by anyone staying at the temple.
  • External Security Centre: Located at the back of the Great Hall, this room contained the security controls of the ground level and 1st sub level defenses and cameras. This was also the first security checkpoint within the actual temple and Jedi Masters were the only ones authorized beyond the doors. This granted access to sublevel 1.
  • Internal Security Centre: Located beyond the Great Hall and the facilities that lie within sublevel 1. This center controlled the defenses and cameras of Sublevel 2 and 3 and in order to past beyond this center to enter the inner sanctum required permission granted by The Keeper of the Temple or The Caretaker of First Knowledge, as the sublevel 2 contained the treatment areas for those falling to the Dark Side, as well as those warped by it.
  • The Vaults: Is located on the 3rd and final sublevel of the Dawn Temple. Here Jedi, Exile, or Sith, who had been completely fallen to the Dark Side would be kept imprisoned in stasis cells specifically designed to hold Jedi and Force users. These area is given extra attention by the Temple Guards on duty when there are individuals held within. This area also has the most security systems in place. Only the Caretaker of First Knowledge (and the Arbiter) could grant free access to this level of the Dawn Temple (although the Keeper was allowed to access, they did not have the authority to grant access)
Note: It should be assumed that all of the locations listed above are guarded and patrolled by Jedi Temple Guards in addition to the security clearance required to enter them.

To avoid any potential bias (since I'm the Jedi FL) I will leave the review of this to @Cazar.
