The Exchange

The Exchange of today is made up of remnants of the crime syndicate of old. It is merely a shadow of its former self due to its downfall at the hands of the Hutt Cartel but secretly still retains a moderate amount of its fortune of days past. The criminal organisation only has five cells left (Coruscant, Corellia, Nar Shadda, Ord Mantell and Tatooine) with its main cell located on the largest moon of Nul Hutta called Nar Shadda with their base of operations located in the Corellian Sector. They still deal in spice smuggling, extortion, weapon trafficking, slave trading and bounty hunting but has added gambling to their arsenal of illegal activities in the form of death matches and swoop racing.

The criminal organisation known as the Exchange has a base located on the moon of Nul Hutta called Nar Shadda. The crime syndicate operates under the front of the New Trade Federation. Their base is a small cantina, named Vibrations, that can be found in the lower levels of the Corellian Sector. The well maintained two storey building has a large bar and even larger dancing area with a small DJ booth on the first floor. On the south side of the second floor is a huge gambling area and smaller prostitution area. The former looks like a small casino while the latter has a series of private chambers each with its own theme. Finally there is a small office with a large tinted window that watches over the first floor on the north side of the second storey that can be reached through a corridor that leads from the gambling area.

The Exchange has heavily invested in the YT series of the Corellian Engineering Corporation. They possess a large fleet of thirty-three new light freighters consisting out of twelve YT-2400s, six YT-2000s, and fifth-teen YT-1300s. These ships are used for various smuggling operations like delivering spice, weapons and even slaves. The YT-2400s are used for weapons trafficking, and the YT-2000s for transporting slaves while the YT-1300s are used for smuggling a variety of spice or any other types of contraband items. They also possess three Marauder-class Corvettes but possess no starfighters at present time. These starships are kept in private landing bays at a standard spaceport which is the only class of starports Nar Shadda has available at the present time. To ensure the safety of their assets the landing bays are guarded by Exchange thugs and the Lost Remnant Mercenaries Militia.

History

The Exchange was a criminal organisation active around 4,000 BBY, and possibly the most powerful of its time, that dealt in spice smuggling, extortion, weapon trafficking, slave trading, and bounty hunting. The organisation was active on many planets and employed various notorious bounty hunters. During the First Jedi Purge, they posted a huge bounty on live Jedi, large enough to purchase an entire planet. 300 years later, during the Cold War, the Exchange was engaged in a galaxy spanning crime war with the Hutt Cartel centring on Nar Shaddaa.

The Exchange was an extremely powerful criminal organisation that operated throughout much of the Outer Rim Territories. The shadowy group was led by an even more mysterious entity called the Compeer, with a command structure that included individual crime lords controlling profitable worlds. The only way to be accepted into this elite group was to be nominated by several other crime lords.

The Exchange was briefly yet significantly involved with, and damaged by, two important figures around the time of the Jedi Civil War: Revan and the Jedi Exile. In 3,956 BBY, Revan infiltrated the Exchange headquarters on Taris and killed its local leader, Davik Kang. Five years later, the Jedi Exile arrived on Nar Shaddaa. She proceeded to destabilize the Exchange's operations on the moon by killing the crime lords Saquesh and Visquis, and by destroying the Visionary. G0-T0 went along with the Exile in hopes of stabilizing the galaxy. He was eventually destroyed on Malachor V when the Mass Shadow Generator was re-activated and blew up the planet along with G0-T0.

Goto was the Exchange boss of Nar Shaddaa. He was never seen in person, and appeared only as a hologram. This was because 'Goto' was not an organic being: he was a droid (G0-T0) using the hologram to give the impression that he was a living being. Eventually, he would travel with the Jedi Exile.

G0-T0 managed to use the illegal actions of the Exchange for his ultimate purpose of stabilizing the Galactic Republic. Its smuggling ring caused the deaths of destabilizing persons or organisations, developed unofficial profits for entire sectors, and strengthened Republic worlds that would otherwise be poor and ignored. Believing that the major source of the Republic's problems revolved around the Jedi Civil War, it also enacted bounties for live Jedi and Sith. Many bounty hunters simply killed Jedi and Sith instead of capturing them, but the outcome remained: less Jedi or Sith to fight against each other meant less fighting period. G0-T0, as part of his programming, was simply interested in keeping the Republic in order and keeping its infrastructure intact due to the devastation caused by the Jedi Civil War.

The Exchange continued to operate in the following years and was still in existence by 3,653 BBY during the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and reborn Sith Empire. In this era, one of their crime lords helped sponsor Jewl'a Nightbringer into the Great Hunt. One gangster from the Exchange was also seen in the company of Kaliyo Djannis. By this point, many operations run by the Exchange were going bad or turning out to be ambushes because it did not work on good terms with the other syndicates which included the Hutts. This led to one of their agents, Zeerid Korr, almost being ambushed by an unknown group which saw him suspecting that there was a leak within the organisation. The Exchange grew in power, until the Hutts ceased tolerating the Exchange, causing it to slowly feed upon itself.

The Exchange maintains organised cells on various worlds of interest; each of those planetary cells is led by a single boss who rules over Exchange interests on that particular world. The bosses report to sector chiefs, who has no cells of their own and operate under secret identities, leading normal lives. Even the bosses do not know who the chiefs are in real life, since most communications are done over secret, secure communications channels. The chiefs in turn report to the head of the Exchange, who was himself one of the sector chiefs known as the Compeer.

Drug Dealing & Distribution

Illegal spice is the narcotics of the galaxy which range from very cheap to very expensive in prices depending on which effect it offered the user. The Exchange does not only distribute spice all over the known universe but also deal in narcotics. A ounce is sold at what's called retail price while a pound are sold at what's called wholesale price.
