I'm just looking forward to how the FS players are going to brutally abuse the "Freeze Blaster" power next TL.
Just saying, that would have been really handy in episode 3.

ALSO @Clayton IS GOING TO HAVE FUN WITH THE FACT THAT

NOW WE CAN JUMP TO HYPERSPACE WITHIN A HANGAR, AND DROP OUT IN ATMO LIKE IT'S NBD?! No mass shadow cares, just ya know, jump whenever you damn well feel like it and revert whenever you feel like it.

I'm gonna love to see some admin explanation for the new tech-physics.

I'm already starting the pool to see how long it takes for you try and abuse this and try something ridiculous.

I can damn well drop a star destroyer in the hangar.

Or jump while I'm still docked.

Physics.

To add onto freezing blaster shots and hyperspace jumping at ridiculous locations,
you are strong in the force, you don't need no training to grab lightsabers with it, mind trick others and take down Darth Vader Fanboys with said lightsaber.

On another note, from an admin perspective I'm trying to figure out how the **** to handle the fact that

Force Useers can freeze not just people, but blaster bolts in mid-air now and just walk around like it's nbd >.<

and he's less powerful/skilled then the scavenger girl who has had no formal training okaylolsorryadminteam

To be fair, both of them swing those light sabers like 12 year olds with a stick, nothing even remotely resembling any kind of formal training or actual skill.

Scavenger girl made the same crap lunge 4 times in under a minute any half decent swordsman would have cut her arms off the moment she repeated that move let alone repeating it 3 times.
She was completely off balance and would have had no way to block if Darth Vader junior had side stepped and swung for her wrists.

But then again he missed entirely with at least half his swings which ain't much better.

I think the analysis of this film appearing more Firefly and Star Trek-like is spot-on. I feel like Star Wars' identity was very much distorted in this film - as I mentioned in my previous post, there were just so many breaks with paradigms in technology, the Force, and characterization established in the other films.
I think it's also telling that there was some consensus among folks here that Star Wars fans cannot expect a perfect movie. I think the original trilogy were the most complete films (something most agree on?) and to accept films that fall short of that standard doesn't make sense. The prequels were definitely more flawed than the original trilogy, and they got rightfully slammed as a result.
I just find it hard to accept this new alternate universe which seems to exist on an island apart from all the other canon, with new everything and what amounts to cameo appearances from the old characters we all know and love.

Well hopefully once Scavenger girl and Vader junior have both been properly trained there fights will be more interesting.

I do prefer that over the prequel trilogy as well, but I'll like it more once they have some proper training.

Some of there move's were bad enough to make me cringe.

The thunderous applause that the studio theater gave when Han and Chewbacca showed up was simply, just, just (pauses to cry).

That's kind of the point, though. Luke was similarly all over the place in ESB. Evwn in ROTJ, the chorepgraphy was defined by large, wide swings, putting all of your weight behind every blow and getting the fuck out of the way when you inevitably left yourself open. Are there clumsy moves in there? Sure. Are the lunges awkward looking? Absolutely. But these aren't Jedi Masters , and lightsaber combat isn't a refined art anymore, so it makes sense even for Kylo Ren to not be particularly refined - it's most likely part of why he uses that massive lightsaber of his.

True, still can't help bug cringe though, if my Kendo instructor saw me swinging a sword that way he'd have shoved it in an unpleasant place then broken the handle off and left it there.

I don't expect them to be masters but I'm hoping in the next two movies it'll at least be a bit more refined.

The fights were actually pretty nice I expected to think Kylo's lightsaber was terrible, but in the end I actually thought it was kinda cool for there to be a new claymore variant. Also making me realize that the lack of meaningful evolution in lightsaber combat besides 1 big jump like 20.000 years ago in canon is a little fishy!

Pretty much this. It is possible that Kylo has received very little training in a lightsaber. Even if he was trained, the is a good chance that was his first duel with an actual opponent. His lightsaber was much more a symbol of his status than it was a legitimate weapon. Also, I think the point of the movie is to show that he is not a stable person at all. He has little control over any of his skills.

He had also been shot before that fight. That in of it self is going to affect how one fights.

The scene reminded me of actual combat and not a pre-planned dance like the prequel movies showed (Though I like those as well)

Also to add on about the fights. I'm really glad the lightsabers have a bigger impact on the environment now. That in my opionion were some of the best effects in the movie.
