First order of business, hello! I am new here and looking to join this faction. Need some help familiarizing myself with my future fellow Sith, so any help with that would be splendid. I'm quite enthusiastic about starting. :)

I have an idea for a character who is a Dark Sider. I plan to be fairly ambitious with the character, but I'm running into one major problem: EU force is complicated. After looking up some character applications made by other sith
force users I feel a bit overwhelmed to be honest about it. Things like Flow Walking or the like are not familiar. I may need some help familiarizing myself with certain techniques since they seem to be valid wenough to put in character forms. What are some good techniques my character could use at his level, whatever level the starting one is?

Maybe some general starting out tips could be helpful, to both me and anyone else asking.

I belive i've read somewhere on this site that finding different ways of describing force usage and not just aproaching it like a video game mechanic ( he used force wave) might be better for both the player, his characters and the RP overall. So i would recommend taking this approach when describing abilities in your sheet. Because mos t of the EU force stuff is just branches of essential force techniques. Such as force wave being an advanced force push etc
So you should also keep common sense in your mind because i doubt administrators will allow overpowered or advanced force abilities in early stages. I don't know if that's too helpfull but it might give you a perspective on how to make it easier for yourself in describign force powers for you character without making just a list of powers and having to bother to go through all of the EU force related stuff.
Good luck :D

Are you planning on this character you are making being in the Next Timeline? Because, what Six is trying to get at, is that in the next timeline, we will be dropping everything we know of the EU, and instead be picking up a few newer concepts such as using "common sense" in the application of Force powers, and vagueness in naming the same powers.

I think that THIS LINK will tell you everything you will need to know about Force powers in the next timeline. And THIS LINK will link you to all kinds of other important announcements regarding the next timeline!

EDIT: I would recommend that you use the list given in the first link in your Next timeline character, because that is what I will be doing. Ex:
Acrobatics- Insert description of the character's knowledge in this field of Force powers.
Mental Manipulation- Insert description...
Telekinesis- Description...
... Edit*

* The starting point of characters for the next timeline, 'Dawn of the Republic', will be the Jedi Knight level; That means that you will start off already mostly trained, and a capable individual ready for getting into the action! However, IFF you enjoy the idea of going through training and building relationships/utilizing the underling perspective in your writing, you are not limited to solely starting off as a Knight-ranked (or Sith equivalent) character, but you can also start off as a Padawan-ranked character. It depends on what you want to write about/how you want to go about it.

* The starting rank of this timeline, you MUST start off as a Padawan (or Acolyte for Sith) ranked character. Unfortunately, the reason I bring up the next timeline first is because it is right around the corner, and I'm afraid that the time you'll have RPing in this timeline will be considerably limited. I know that a few of us aren't very active around the site (in hibernation until the next timeline), but I'm certain that you might very well be able to get some RPing in before the next timeline starts (which has an undetermined launch date as far as I know); And I HIGHLY recommend getting together with a few people, and getting a few threads together after you create a character for this and/or next timeline. There are quite a few eager new RPers around the site that could use some RPing experience before the next timeline!

* I am a current member f the New Sith Imperium -for this timeline-, although, I'm afraid that I will not likely be a member of the Sith equivalent in the next timeline.

Otherwise, I wish you to have fun on the site, and the wait for the Dawn of the Republic to be a short one!

Well, it looks like I'm just going to have to wait for a bit then, however long that may be. Guess I'll just have more time to fill out my form. ;)I'm glad there are going to be more simple methods of giving oneself abilities, though. Sith Magic is cool, but man does it make them look OP next to the Jedi. It's pretty unfair at times.

Will wait up on the new timeline for now. Hopefully things will run smoothly with the admins developments and there won't be any more setbacks.

Ah, well remember though, that with Sith magics, the mind and body will degrade in a sense. So, I imagine it will kind of even out in some way or another. Besides, who's to say that a Jedi cannot learn or use some of these 'magics' (giving the liberal view on the Force now)?
