CHARACTER PROFILE

*Kal'Shabbol, said by many inhabitants to be the glowing gem of the Unknown Regions of the galaxy. The sun has just risen over the shimmer Ashlan Mountain Range, casting an early mornings light on the glistening towers of the Bendu Temple. Beings of this world would flock all the way to the area just to feel the breeze of the Grasslands of the Ashla and catch a glimpse of Bendu Temple. Travellers are in the area. Some sit and pray while others just admire the beauty of their surroundings.

All of this is being observed from the highest tower of the Temple. Ussej Padric Bac, High Priest of the Bendu Order, admires also admires the beauty of the surroundings. He sees it everyday, yet everyday he finds something new to admire. He had woken up a few hours before, just as he did every morning, leaving his beloved wife Laili Rendar asleep in their bed. The walls of this Temple were filled with memories from his family. In the East Wing was his son Ussej Padric Bac, Jr. Ussej Jr. married Bara ErMez a year earlier and she was now pregnant with their first child. She had entered her ninth month two weeks ago and was expected to give birth in a matter of days.

He could not help but be excited at the thought of holding his grandson for the first time. He smiles and takes in the early morning breeze that he had come to know and love during his years as a Bendu. He could sense Laili awakening from her sleep. Many people say that the honeymoon is over after your first few months of marriage, but for them it never ended. Even now, after forty years of marriage, they still loved each other just as they had when they first laid eyes upon each other on Coruscant.

But, like all marriages, they had their rough points. There were times when he would act like a child and have nervous breakdowns right in front of him. He once thought that she was having an affair with the Bounty Hunter called Mathias. And, when he turned to the Dark Side and became a Sith Lord, she almost fled him. But, the lure of family got the best of her and she travelled with him wherever lifes journey took them. Once the Macabre Alliance toppled Viea's Empire, lifes journey took them here...to Kal'Shabbol.

There were so many memories for the two of them, and the good most certainly outweighed the bad. He once said that he would do anything to protect Laili and vowed that he would always uphold that promise. Even now, in his old age, he would do what it would take to make sure no harm ever came to her.

He sat upon his alter and prayed to the Ashla just as he did every morning. He knew Laili would be there soon, just as she was every morning. They had the same routine for years, but neither of them ever tired from it. A small smile crept across his passionate face as he sensed her approaching.*

Name: Laili Rendar
Age: 24
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 125
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde

Bio: Laili was born early from a result of the speeder accident that killed both of her parents Corwin and Jeyna Rendar. Though her mother lay dead, the unborn child somehow survived the accident. Medical personnel arrived quickly on the scene and were able to save her from death's door. Laili was born an orphan. The grandparents, who had been watching Kit, did not know the fate of Laili and assumed her dead along with Jeyna. Kit had run away before the news reached the grandparents. Laili remained on Corellia with her next of kin and never set foot off the planet for long until recently. Laili had known she had a brother but never was able to locate him. Her own destiny took her elsewhere; namely the smuggling business. When news reached her of her brother's fall to the dark side, she was enraged. Refusing to sit by and just let it happen, she sought only to try to turn him back. Confronted by Kit Rendar on Corellia while visiting her families graves, she realized that he was too far gone to save. He had tried to bring her to his side and if Jedi Knight Ussej Bac, the man she had fallen in love with, not arrived, he would have taken her. Ussej told her the only way she could protect herself and have a chance at turning her brother, now Darth Ravinos, was to be trained in the Force. Reluctantly, she agreed with him and began training as a Jedi Consular. Throughout training, it became harder and harder to hide her feelings for her now master. They confessed their love for one another and Ussej even proposed to Laili. However, their love and the anger at the Order for not promoting Ussej more quickly began to knaw at their relationship. Slowly, Ussej began to change before her eyes, yet she wasn't going to stop believing in him or leave him. She was afterall pregnant with his child. She faced Kit several more times and barely escaped until one day. Ussej had lied to Laili and said he was meeting with Damien. They both had recently left the Order and she wondered if it was concerning this very thing. Yet as time passed, the feeling of something wrong continued to increase. Ussej returned with Ravinos only to seduce her to the darkside. This time she fell to the seduction of the life the dark side would lead for her family. Her family could be together finally. However, times grew darker in teh Sith. A great civil war broke out and Bac, Laili, Ussej Jr. and Kit were forced to flee. It was then that they discovered the Bendu.

*Before the sleep was wiped completely from her eyes, she had dressed in her ceremonial robes and gone to the temple to pray to Ashla. The day wasn't complete until she had focused her mind and spirit. Her golden hair was tinged with white streaks and the once young face showed lines across it. Still the beauty held with her all of these years. It was within the eyes that her strength and love for Ussej burned brightly. Her body had become more feeble, yet her mind was still as sharp as a whistle. Entering the temple she saw the form of her husband already beginning his day. Unwilling to even speak to him or touch him until she offered herself to Ashla for the day, she entered quietly though her eyes showered a warmth within them as she gazed upon him.*

*Focusing on giving all of herself to Ashla, she began her day just like any other. Adjusting to her new life as a Bendu wasn't easy for her. As a new mother and also former Sith minion, she found the tasks at first to be tedious. Her husband, Ussej, had been patient with her though. He hadn't had the battles he fought when she first became a Jedi. No, she had grown alot in spirit and in mentality since her time with him. The grounding she needed was here...with her husband and son...and with her brother. Now the life she wanted....a settled life and a family had come true. Soon, she was to be a grandmother for the first time. Ussej Jr. brought so much joy to her and his wife was like a daughter to her. Thanking Ashla for all the blessings in her life and seeking guidance for the day ahead, she finished her morning devotions and moved to her husband's side. Her smile to him was radiant as she leaned in to kiss him.*

"Morning...you woke earlier this morning. Everything ok?"

"Yes, I just had some thinking to do."

*He turned and kissed her. The same magic they first felt on Coruscant forty years ago still burned like a fire. He didn't want to tell her what he was feeling about the coming storm, but he knew better than to keep anything from her.*

"Something is coming. I don't know what it is, but in my thoughts I see a coming storm. I don't know what it is, but we must all be ready for what is to come."

*He turned back and looked out at the mountains, wondering at what is to come. A single storm cloud sat in the distance, possibly symbolizing the coming struggle.*

*The smile on her face faded as she had hoped this would have been delayed for another time. She had known as well that something was amiss and had been building up for a long time. The peace never lasted and was constantly threatened.*

"I know. I've felt it too though I've said nothing to you about it."

*She remembered the days when he was a Jedi Master and she his padawan. His dreams of the future haunted him and he eventually told her about what he had seen. She feared this was another of those such dreams again.*

"The Bendu are always prepared for what is to come. Under your instruction and that of Kit, we'll all be prepared. Something else nags at your mind though. What is it?"

"Nothing, I was just thinking about the past. Tomorrow is the anniversary of our arrival on Kal'Shabbol, and the memories of the Jedi...of the Sith...of all that I did to you and countless others have been flooding back to me. I still cannot bring myself to get over what I did to you in the aparment on Onderon, regardless of how many times you say that you forgive me. The memories are too painful to bare sometimes. There are days that I just want to get away from all of this and I wish that the Ashlan winds would decide that it is time to take me to be with the Skywalker in the netherworld of the Force."

*He lowers his head, ashamed of himself. No matter how many people looked up to him or cared for him, he will always look down upon himself for his actions in his youth.*

"I know that's a terrible thing to say, but I cannot hide the truth."

*She stepped closer to him and tilted her head so as to catch his glance and hopefully raise it.*

"You acted out of emotions that were beyond your control then. I'm as much to blame. I was a like a madwoman when you first met me. How you put up with me through all of that training I don't know. Yet, what matters now is the present....not the future and not the past. The past is done and can't be changed. If these things hadn't had happened, who's to say we would be here now? The future...well, the future arises from the choices we make this day and the next."

*She smiles tenderly at him.* "Besides, I needed some sense knocked into me." *The attempt at a joke was poor but it was one she hoped would bring a smile to his face.*

"I know, it's just sometimes hard to put aside what you know has happened and what you know is coming. Most of the time, I am mindful of the Living Force, but I do have those days....I guess I'm always just going to be the same old me."

*He smiled and turned to her.*

"And there's no force in the universe great enough to knock any sense into you, my dear."

*She feigned being hurt by his comments but smiled all the same.*

"No, in fact it's I who once again try to knock sense into you. Seems you never take the lesson well though."

*She sighs playing along with his little game.*

"I only hope our grandchild is more like me instead of you. His father unfortunately got the bad genes from you."

*Putting the back of her hand up against her mouth, she tries to hold back the laughter that wasts to usher forth.*

*He smiled and shot an odd, sarcastic look her way.

"Bad genes from me? I think he got them from you. Let's see: cockiness, impulsivness, inability to listen to reason, overly caring....the list goes on and on."

*He smiled and put his arm around her shoulders, kissing her softly on the cheak.*

*She turned around to face him and put her hands on his chest smoothing out his robes.*

"They seemed to lure you all the same. I don't remember you complaining on Coruscant about those traits. Then again we were also fighting for our lives against that bounty hunter."

*Her hands drop from him and her face looks a bit troubled.*

"I can't help but wonder sometimes though..." *She moves away from him and looks across the room.* "...if I never had come to Coruscant looking for help...well...you might still be with the Jedi then."
