Thread now closed to prevent overcrowding.

Flung out on the precipice of the known galaxy was a tiny planet that few had ever heard of and even fewer had ever visited. A planet almost lost to time, existing in almost total isolation at the very edge of civilization. Swords and heavy armor, steeds and spears still ruled the battlefields of Belkadan.

Time was, a traveler might find a desperate kind of freedom here, away from the troubles plaguing the galaxy. Now, it's as much a prison as anything else.

A new malevolent force has arisen on Belkadan, one fueled by mysterious magic as much as fire, steel and stone. A dark master who's war machine leaves nothing but smoldering craters and death in its wake is moving in from the south, the lone kingdom of Alvanor the only thing standing between Belkaden's citizens and a violent, subjugated end.

Whether by sheer luck or the will of the force, a group of Jedi Padawans find themselves marooned in the thick, dank swamps of the Belkaden wilds - a hyperspace malfunction taking them far, far away from wherever it was they had been going. With their ship in tatters and only each other to rely on, these unlikely heroes may be the only people who can save Belkadan from its fate.

Their only lead would be the the looming city of Haderion far off in the distance, its high stone walls making it hard to miss. There was much wilderness to traverse between here and there. Many dangers awaited the padawans, some obvious, and most not.

But every great journey begins with a first step.

The entire situation left Toki slightly shaken. With ruined ship on a long-isolated world, how were they to leave? It seems they would have to make due until someone comes to rescue them. However, Toki couldn't help but feel like something was off. A slight tingling in the back of his mind. Perhaps it was just nerves. Still, he had brought supplies with him. Some rations, water canisters, his training saber, he was as prepared as he could be. "I-is everyone alright?" He called out. He hadn't really properly acquainted himself with the other Padawan, but perhaps this would be a great team-building opportunity.

He spent some time dusting off his robes and picking debris out of his fur while he waited for others to answer. He looked around slightly, in slight awe of the planet they found themselves on. In the far distance, he spotted the silhouette of what seemed to be a city. It was a ways off. He wanted to make sure his saber was in working order, so he drew it and ignited it...though what happened next caught him off guard. "What in the name of..." He muttered as the blade was one of metal and not the beam he had come to expect. "A...vibroblade? No...it doesn't seem like the same material...what's going on here?" He said as he inspected it some more. This as interesting...worrying but interesting.

He went to turn the saber off, and the blade just....deconstructed. "...Hm..." He scratched the back of his head. "A-anyway, if anyone needs extra rations, I have some with me...and some water. Please, I have plenty, so don't be afraid t-to ask." He bowed his head politely to the others. "I'm sure our accident will be noticed at some point, s-so rescue should be on the way...i-in the meantime I think I see a city. Maybe we should find shelter there first and foremost."

It all happened so fast. One minute Felis had been chewing on her bubblegum loudly while listening to a Twi-Pop band, and the next their sip lurched like it had slammed into something. Her gum flew into the back of her throat, almost choking her. She'd spent a dozen or so seconds on the floor doing her best to hack the gum out while chaos surrounded her as metal groaned, lights flickered, and the ship bounced and shuddered in a disturbingly unnatural manner. Finally the ship had crashed, and, one by one, she and her fellow padawans stepped outside.

She looked around the crash site, still rattled by what had happened. Swampy...that was just gross. "Oh my force I can't believe you crashed us into a swamp!" she exclaimed, irritated. The irritation was quickly lost to that eerie feeling when someone has a bad, hallucinogenic trip (not that Felis was familiar with the feeling) as she watched Toki ignite his...sword.

Sword? SWORD????

Felis quickly reached for her own lightsaber, the panic beginning to rise in her chest. She ignited it and, to her immense unease, a metal blade appeared instead of green plasma. "Oh no. Oh no." She dematerialized the blade, and then ignited it again...dematerialized it, smacked the bottom of the lightsaber hard a couple times as if that would somehow fix it, and ignited it one more. "Guys...uh guys what the crap is going on with our stuff?" she called out, worry and concern spread clear across her face. Had they suffered some weird form of brain damage from the crash?

A terrible thought crept into her mind and she reached for her bag, not even bothering to dematerialize the...sabersword, lightsword, fuckthingwhat? She undid several clasps and opened the back compartment where she'd stored her energy bow. An elegant, but solid, and very primitive wooden shaft with colored string greeted her gaze. "What the kriffing hell happened to my stuff?!"

Severus had the biggest headache he'd ever experienced. He must have bonked himself, too, because he could feel blood trickling down the side of his face. What had happened?? Who was piloting the ship? This was why Severus should've been piloting- he was probably one of the most qualified pilots in his entire age group- or so he liked to think. Someone was speaking, too- the Lepi he met on Yavin IV briefly. He got out of his seat and began looking through his pack to make sure everything was...

"Where's my safe?" He muttered to himself as he worriedly began checking everywhere until he came across a shiny vibrosteel cube that was under his seat, ironically where he had left it. He sighed and gently placed the box back in his pack, but didn't decide to join the Lepi after he suggested going to the city they could see from their current position.

Before he could explain why they should stay with the ship, everyone seemed to be igniting their lightsabers, but to Severus's astonishment, they only became strange swords. So, Severus decided it was his turn and took out his crossgaurd lightsaber and ignited it into a metal greatsword. Sev went wide eyed as he stared at his non-orange beamed sword. He deactivated it and sat down, pondering for a moment what was going on. He thought he was sweating and wiped his brow, but then remembered he was bleeding.
Right...Right, first things first...Uh...

He stood up and forced himself to have a calmed expression, though he did look slightly bitter as he gazed at the others. "We should wait here- we don't know if that city is filled with friendlies or potential sociopaths who'll sell us into slavery. Or...maybe, I guess, we could have a scouting party go out and see if they can spot a starship we can all fit in and then report back here to the others. I'll offer myself to go, in that case. Anyone else?"

Originally, this was going to be a normal field trip for the Padawans. Master Bheva Traylessend, the old Morellian Jedi that was teaching about Non sentient beings that are Force sensitive, had organized this trip for them to visit Mykr and watch the Ysalamiri in their natural habitat. It was simple, they would go there, meet a guide that was hired by her, see the animals and return.

She wasn’t going with them, because part of the objective of this trip was that the Padawans had independence. They would only have a guide. However, she still wanted to have someone to give instructions to the others. After she made a draw, the name that was picked by her was Elidan.

Barely they entered the ship and Elidan was already having problems communicating with the others. Few understood his signal language and the sound of the speakers of his Datapad were muffled by the cacophony of the other Padawans.

When the ship was already in space near Yavin IV, he decided to use its speakers to transmite Traylessend's instructions to the others. However, he never was good with a ship. Rather than typing in the speaker system, so it could repeat with a robotic voice, the poor boy put the words in the command terminal.

It ended up being catastrophic. The ship entered hyperspace and before anyone could take control of it, crashed on some planet that wasn't Mykr. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but Elidan was terrified with what he did. He could have killed everyone! Now everyone probably hates him for what he did.

Due to that, the half-Sephi was seated outside of what remained of their ship, hugging himself and crying alone. He couldn't even face the others. They hate him for sure. They were in the middle of nowhere, without transport and no way of making contact with the Temple on Yavin IV. And it was all his fault. How could he be such an idiot?

At least he was prepared. Due to their field trip, Elidan had packed several items that would be necessary for him to survive some days in the wilderness. He had food, some medicine, clothes and other things. But it was only enough for him. He really hoped that the others would have packed their things too. Who knows how much time they would be there.

Elidan’s Datapad: 85%

Issyl heard stories of the many crazy adventures the padawans and previous generations of padawans went on. She hoped this one would be a normal field trip, but with the Jedi? No way.

Climbing out of the ship, she responded to Toki who was already observing the area "I'm ok!" As she was about to step out her foot got stuck in some mud and she nearly fell over. Fortunately she quickly reached her arms out and stopped herself from hitting the ground. She managed to pull her foot out of the mud and tried to wipe herself off.

The others already seemed up and about. Issyl was having trouble remembering what had happened, but she did recall Elidan being the one piloting the ship. The Zygerrian yelled at him, Issyl didn't know them well but remembered they were Padawan Tivor. Wanting to cheer him up, Issyl sat beside Elidan and placed a hand on his shoulder.

As she turned back to face the group, Issyl was stunned to see the others carrying swords. The Zygerrian appeared to be stressed out the most, but nonetheless it was strange phenomena. Before she could even question, Severus had suggested the group to split up. "That's an awful idea!" Issyl responded. "Haven't you seen old horror HoloFilms? Splitting up in spooky areas always leads to people dying easily!" She looked over at Toki; Issyl knew he would also want to keep the group together.

Clove had wanted to fly the ship if only to make up for the last time she joined a group outing and ended up freaking out and hiding for the rest of the trip. This would have been the trip to make things right. To demonstrate that she can be fun and considerate while also making new friends. Because therapy had been going... somewhat well... and helped her get back on her feet. As long as she didn't fall asleep, that is!

But for whatever reason, nobody allowed her to fly?

Something about "Last time you were flying, you stranded four padawans on a remote creepy planet."

Really a bit of an overkill.

It didn't matter, though, because everything went wrong despite her sitting peacefully in her chair and not pressing a single button. The ship began to tremble, lights flickered, and alarms shouted in the Jedi's ears before anybody had time to respond. Then they crashed into the ground with such force that their ship was irreparably damaged.

An enormously large backpack dangled over her shoulders as the half-Sephi walked across the filthy swampy damp grass. It was difficult, especially now that the world was whirling around her and her left shoulder hurt silently in the background, but it was well worth the effort. Because, you see, Clove had made a point of packing everything. Training lightsaber? Check. Blankets and a pillow? Check. A clean pair of underwear for everyone? Check. Food that kept them going for a few days? Double-check. Water? Check. Some awesome card games? Heck yeh, check! A jar with embroidery patches? Never know when you need to decorate something, check. Last but not least, she had her beloved medical bag, which she had stocked with a few extra bandages just in case. She was prepped for anything that could happen. Including a crash, apparently.

"Ugh." She muttered while resting her hand against her head, the world finally slowly stopping its nauseating spinning. "Is everyone all right?" She called out. Thankfully, no one appeared to need first aid. Even Severus, whose head was bleeding, appeared to be well for the time being. She did make a mental point to check his injuries when they had a break.

Elidan was having a rough time and sat outside the crashed ship, hugging himself and crying. There was so much to do, but after spending a few days with him on a vacation she couldn't just leave him there like that. To be fair, she couldn't leave a stranger like that either. After a chew on her lower lip, she waddled in his direction, with an encouraging smile. "Hey, Elidan. It's fine. We know you didn't mean to crash us. It happens to the best of us. I crashed Ruz, Felix, and Arctus a while ago. I'm still not sure how that one happened, but, but. Come. We gotta figure out a plan, together. That includes you." If no one else was trying to help him up, she extended her hand to him and turned around to return her attention to the group.

Then everyone checked their training sabers, which revealed a metal blade rather than a plasma beam. Clove decided she didn't want to know anything about it after that, and she didn't bother examining her own lightsaber, presuming it was the same.

Plus, ever since Dantooine she hasn't touched her lightsaber or the Force anyway.

Then there was the notion of splitting up. "I'm with..." What's the name of that girl? Clove had noticed her on the ship but hadn't had the chance to speak with her. "I'm sorry I don't know your name, but the pretty lady with the braid. And Zana for that matter. I say we don't split up. Don't have good experiences with that."

Zana was already in a state of panic when she suddenly remembered that she packed the wrong bag for this adventure. She had prepped a donation bag and one for the trip, and of course she brought the donation bag which contained some random old clothes that no longer fit her. So she didn’t have any toiletries, food or clothing that fit. What she wore was all she had. The twi’lek looked over, chewing her lip nervously before an idea cropped into her head.

“Hey Cloooooove?” She began in a sing-song voice, knowing the half Sephi was always far more prepared than ever necessary on trips. Before she could make her sad story sales pitch, the ship lurched and sent them into a spiral. She could hear nothing but screaming as they careened towards the surface of a planet.

Zana coughed and sputtered a while later, her skin covered in ash and soot as she wiped her body off. Her lekku were throbbing in pain as she used the Force to move some large bits of debris away to help others get out.

“I’m okay!” She called out to the others as she heard Toki address everyone.

The first person she spotted was Elidan. Of course she had no idea it was his fault this happened. She promptly walked over to him and pulled him into a hug, “Hey hey hey! You’re okay, you’re okay!” She held him tightly until he calmed down from his crying, hearing the others speak. Zana’s eyes narrowed as Severus began to rattle off worst case scenarios like slavery.

“How is that your first line of thought?” Zana cut in, rolling her eyes as she finally stepped away from Elidan. However, she paused first to pick up the half Sephi’s datapad and hand it back to him, signing to him, “I’m here, you’ll be okay. Got it?” Zana smiled warmly at him before turning to walk towards the others.

“That’s gonna be a heck no from me on splitting up and you can cut the slavery nonsense,” Zana crossed her arms over her chest, “We’re Force users, not those idiots from Holomovies. We can take anything on,” She wasn’t very convincing with her soot covered face, but she had no idea how she appeared.

“The ship is completely wrecked. Staying here will be pointless,” With that, she began to very valiantly walk in the direction of the city.

Varyn didn't know what had happened. One moment they were flying along happy as a group of padawans could be and the next his stomach was in his throat, they were dropping like a rock, and he thought he was going to die.

The ear-splitting sound of the crash was accompanied by his eyes being firmly shut (though he would deny this), and the feeling of being thrown against his restraints. He gasped to try to get more breath into his lungs as he finally unstrapped, rubbing lightly against the seat belt marks left over his shoulders.

There was discussion about their next move and Varyn tended to agree that staying here wasn't an option. There wasn't anyone coming to get them.

I think our emergency beacon is down, which means we need to find some other way to signal to people or get off-world, he said, watching Zana promptly march off toward the city. Seemed like as good an idea as any and he started heading in that direction as well.

Even before things rapidly went to shit, Thelian was in a decidedly bad mood. The Echani still wasn’t entirely sure how he’d been convinced to tag along for this little expedition, but here he was – hauling around the wrong backpack with practically zero supplies. Unsurprisingly, Thelian had been running late to get to the ship, and as a result, the Echani grabbed his gym bag – rather than the well stocked backpack he prepared – while rushing.

The duffle bag was filled with nothing but his favorite hand wraps, a pair of boxing gloves and a single pair of old boxers. After some rummaging through the various pouches, Thelian did eventually find some food – in the form of granola bar that he really couldn’t remember how long had been there.

Silver eyes eventually flicked over to Clove, spotting the oversized backpack that she hauled. While he was too proud to ever ask, the Echani knew that the half-Sephi had likely packed enough for a small army, and he knew that he’d be relying on whatever she brought with her.

Luckily, his lack of supplies didn’t remain a concern for very long – as the ship suddenly lurched out of hyperspace and began plummeting towards the surface of an unknown planet.

Several long moments had passed, and Thelian finally let out a loud, irritated groan. His naturally snowy-white hair had taken on a dark grey hue – completely covered in ash and soot from the charge. Instinctively, the Echani reached down to his hip to check for his lightsaber – only now remembering that he hadn’t brought that either.

He eventually forced himself to his feet, dusting himself off before turning his attention to the rest of the group. “I’m fine.” He replied flatly when Toki called out. He eventually made his way out of the ship, spotting Zana, Clove and a crying Elidan huddled to one side. The Echani was entirely ignorant that the half-Sephi was at fault for the crash, so naturally didn’t say anything – merely crossing his arms over his chest.

Silver eyes immediately flicked over to Severus, narrowing harshly when he heard the slavery comment. Few people gathered would know why that comment in particular stuck with him, but the growing irritation was clear on the Echani's features.

“You need to stop talking,” He declared icily, staring at the dark-haired boy for a few more moments before turning his attention to the others. He blinked a few times, staring at Zana’s soot-covered face as she gave her rallying speech. The Echani didn’t allow his eyes to linger for long, turning away to stare off into the wilderness all around them.

“The city is our best bet. Should be able to find a way to contact the temple from there.” He said after a while, stuffing his hands into his pockets and beginning to follow after Zana.

“How is that your first line of thought?”

If Severus didn't already look bitter, he did now. Especially Thelian's brief but blood boiling comment. He wouldn't stay mad at Zana for long anyway, it wasn't something worth blowing up over. He couldn't say the same for the Echani. It was the same way I was sold into slavery. Ship got shot down, wandered to the nearest civilized settlement, goodbye mom and dad, hello Crimson Dawn. He clenched his fist and then exhaled, releasing his tension. Severus couldn't afford to be narrow minded right now. Infighting was the last thing they needed.

"Fine. We'll go. But please be smart. Don't talk to weirdos, watch your pockets when little kids pass by, if there is any...The cover is not the book, so to speak." Severus wasn't sure who the established leader was, but Zana seemed to be taking intuitive at least. So, reluctantly, Severus decided to follow after the blue Twi'lek, but decided to take Elidan with him. Honestly, Severus just wanted to stay away from Thelian- not because he was afraid of the kid, but because he was afraid of what the aftermath of them sticking together for too long would look like.

It probably wasn't the right thing to talk about, seeing as Elidan was having a rough time managing his stress, slavery probably wasn't a helpful topic to soothe one's stress. "...Sorry about that. Bad habits, I guess." He said to both Zana, Thelian, and Elidan. Oh why was he so bad at this? People were so...Hard. And difficult. "On the bright side, we aren't completely stranded. That city might prove beneficial after all." I hope. Severus was not going to let history repeat itself, that was for certain.

Sev's head stopped bleeding at least, so that was also good. He kept forgetting about that stupid wound for some reason, so before he forgot it again, he had cleaned it off with a rag and then focused on it through the Force. He didn't close the wound completely, but he got it small enough that he could cover it with some light gauze. "Anyone else have any wounds that need mending? Infection may not be slavery, but it still sucks." He asked and reminded the group.

Maura was very much aware that she was the youngest one here, but it hadn't phased her at all until she was actually on the ship with everyone else. She was ten-ish, but she was like ninety-nine and a half percent sure everyone else was at least sixteen. They all already knew each other too. So instead of getting to hang out and talk to all these cool, older kids, the girl ended up sitting on her hands, kicking her feet while she waited on the bench. Her eyes, big pools of black, remained attentively trained on the group for about half the ride until bickering erupted among them. At that point, she had pulled out her datapad to start playing a game called Cupcake Run. The only sound she made was a quiet "Yes!" when she pulled a rare cupcake.

Not even a moment after she pulled the rare character, the bickering turned into chaos as the ship jerked from side to side. Though she was momentarily distracted by trying to not drop her datapad, it didn't take the kid long to figure out the ship was going down. 'Oh no! Our ship! It's broken! The pointy-eared kid quickly shoved her datapad into her backpack, buckled herself into her seat, and wrapped both of her skinny arms around it, and held on for dear life. Maura was freaking out, but for the sake of maintaining her cool swagger around all these older kids, she kept a comically unaware smile on her face.

The ship had crashed, but no one had been hurt. Like the rest of the padawan, Maura stood outside in the murky dirt. Her tan hands held onto the straps of her oversized backpack, and her dyed rainbow hair had been pulled through her blue snapback and into a ponytail. Maura kept looking from teenager to teenager as she watched what she thought was arguing going on between them.

'I'm glad I didn't bring my J's, Maura thought with a sigh as she tried her foot out of the muck. The mud made a suctioning, slurping sound as she struggled to yank her sinking foot out of it. "Ew..." The kid tried harder to pull her foot out. She ended up trying a bit too hard, and instead of yanking the foot out along with the boot, her foot slipped out and the rainbow-haired kid fell backward into the grassy mud behind her. Her palm pressed against a rock on the ground, scraping her skin when the weight of her body fell on it.

"Ow! I mean, stupid rock. You can't hurt me!" Maura quickly jumped to her feet, then bent down to yank her lost boot out of the mud. She shoved her muddy sock back into it just in time for Severus to ask if anyone needed any wounds mended. Maura wasn't sure what "mending" was, but he said wounds and she had just scraped her hand on a dirty rock.

"Can you heal my wound?" asked the kid as she skipped over, careful to avoid the grabby mud. She presented one of her muddy hands to the older kid who had offered his help out loud. "It doesn't hurt," Maura added quickly so he would know she wasn't one of those kids. She was very brave! "But since you offered?"

Maura would stand there, muddy hand extended towards him while her other held the strap on her backpack.

Kal wasn't sure if there was some confusion while packing or things going missing during the crash, but as he checked his pack while stepping out of the ruined ship all he could find in his pack was a roll of cred-coins he had been collecting, a pack of gum, and for some reason the a single sock. He was still mulling over how he had managed to end up with nothing useful on hand when he noticed Clove and Elidan, more so because of the size of the bag she had with her.

Realizing there was no way she could move comfortably with that backpack, he started making his way towards the two of them. He was a few steps from them when he felt something crunch under his foot, and having seen the kid with the colorful hair get her boot stuck in mud, he paused immediately. He didn't want to track towards that city with one boot or a hole in his boot. But what he found was a little pin in the shape of a porg. Realizing that it must have fallen off the elf girl's bag, where he saw other pins and patches, he thought about returning it a second before pocketing it. He might return it later if he found something more memorable to remember this little adventure by, but for now it was his.

"You two alright? We need to get moving." He reached down and pulled up the backpack with some effort, and let it drop back to the floor. "You're going to fall back if you're going to trek after the others with this thing."

¹. Roll a d100 to see how tired you are after slumming through the swamp. 100 is not at all, 1 is exhausted.

². Roll a d20 to dodge the caravan. 11 or higher is a success. Based on roll ¹, take a -1 if you rolled below a 30. -3 if you rolled below a 10.

The sun, though it was obscured by overcast skies and the rising haze of the swamp, had been high in the sky when the group came to the consensus that the long trek to the city was their most worthwhile pursuit.

Walking through the muck and mire of the swamp was no easy task for anyone¹, and as the hours waned into the evening, it would almost seem like they had made no significant progress towards the city at all.

A bit of luck would finally strike for the group, though, as just when it seemed like they may have been walking in circles they would stumble across a crude road made through the swamp. It was just as sticky-thick and wet as the rest of the swamp, but the deep ruts that ran through it would tell them that it was at least used, though they wouldn't be able to tell how long ago.

Suddenly, they would hear the sound of wooden wheels cutting through the mud, it was almost like someone stirring a bucket of cheesy pasta with a wooden spoon.

GET OFF ME ASS YOU SLIMEY BASTARDS Yelled a gruff man's voice from the same direction as the pasta splorcking sounds.

Suddenly, a large caravan being pulled by two massive beasts that somewhat resembled banthas came careening around the corner straight at the entire group of padawans. The man driving the caravan would yank on the reigns as hard as he could once he noticed the... eleven?

ELEVEN?

Kids all standing in the middle of the road, and though he would come to a skidding, sticky stop, it would be mostly up to the padawans to not end up getting whacked by his heavy caravan².

Watch out, they're coming! The man shouted, pointing in the direction he had come from. Looking down at his caravan, the man noticed that one of his wheels was cracked quite badly from trying to stop so suddenly. Cursing under his breath, he opened a small door behind him that lead into the wagon. Tell me when it's safe to come out!

Rounding the bend was a gaggle of freaky looking swamp monsters, running on all fours with rather impressive speed.

It would seem the padawans would have to make a choice. Stay and defend this seemingly defenseless and innocent stranger, or leave him behind and flee.

There wouldn't be much time for discussion this time.

Everyone was struggling to figure out how to proceed in this situation. It was understandable. Tensions were high and there wasn't really a clear answer as to what they should do. He felt his heart rate rise slightly, but he took a few deep breaths and calmed himself down. His first reaction was to go along with everyone else and help calm Elidan down. He couldn't help but empathize with him...to feel such a thing bear down on your shoulders. He didn't deserve to feel this way. "H-hey. I know...it's difficult. I don't know much of what to say to alleviate what you're going through, but...everyone's okay and we're going to figure out a way out of this, alright?" He offered the warmest smile he could to him "I'm not angry. Tensions are high, a-and that's natural in this case...but the important thing is we move on and find a way to solve this." He tried his best to be encouraging. He wasn't sure how good he was at it.

There was a little bit of a discussion on what to do. Toki highly disagreed with the idea of splitting up. There were people without weapons, and people too young to fight. Splitting up would only make them more vulnerable. However, thankfully, the group decided to stick together and go through the marsh. Overall it seemed everyone just wanted the group to stay safe, in their own ways. He couldn't blame anyone here. The child, Maura, was approaching Severus for help when she got stuck in the mud. Hopefully this trip wouldn't prove too much for her.

Everyone was shocked at the state of their gear, but there as nothing to do for it now. He respected, admired, and was a little shocked at just how well Clove prepared for the journey. The large backpack on her frame was almost comical, but it was still impressive she was able to carry it so effectively. "A-alright. Everyone without a weapon, stay in the middle of the group. Those with weapons, split up between the front and back of everyone else so we have both flanks covered." He noticed that Zana and Thelian were already at the front and stuck to the back of the group.

The trek through the swamp was treacherous and Toki hit a few snags here and there. His feet were going to be in pretty bad shape when this was all said and done, but he pushed through regardless. He sighed as he would have to seriously scrub his robes or ask for a new set. Washing his fur was also going to be a complete nightmare.

Suddenly, his ears picked up something "Something's coming..." He said as they finally reached a road of some kind. Across the way, a caravan barreled its way through the mud and nearly rammed into the group. Toki jumped back and away an impressive distance to avoid getting slammed, though as it stopped, he swiftly ran forward to see what was chasing the man's caravan. Strange creatures rushed them, and it was clear if nothing as done they would tear everything apart. He gulped, but he couldn't let this happen. He drew his saber and 'ignited' it before walking in front of the caravan. He took a deep breath and squared his stance, saber in both hands close to his body. He looked serious for once, a far cry from his usual shakiness.

Severus took the girl's hand and poured some water from his own canteen on her hand to wash off the mud, then, he gently wrapped it with some bandages he had left over. He needed to make sure he kept track of how much medical supplies he had so he didn't waist it on small scratches. But, because the girl seemed younger and less aware of the gravity of their situation, Sev decided to help her out instead of freak her out and leave her wound open and muddy.

"Be more careful...We have limited supplies, so be sure you use your own from now on. I'll hold on to mine as reserves incase anyone runs out." He said calmly to the strange looking girl.

Out of nowhere, a man pulling a caravan came barreling towards the group. Sev went wide eyed and embraced Maura and channeled the Force around his legs to dodge safely out of the way using Force Speed, but his timing was too slow and felt his back smack into the caravan, sending the two flying a few feet. Toki had the same idea, but rather than using the Force, he simply used those powerful legs of his to jump much farther than Severus could've dodged. That kid had some serious potential in the Jedi Order.

Before Severus could yell at the idiot who almost ran them over, a group of some horrific four-legged monsters was charging for them.
"Stay behind me and watch my back." Severus said, sitting up in front of Maura. He would've tried to stand but a sharp pain ran up along his spine that caused him to fall to his knees. The hit got him pretty bad, his back hurt like hell but he used himself as shield a for Maura, so hopefully she was alright. He worried that he wasn't going to have enough strength to fight in a prolonged battle with the other beasts- especially if he ended up getting double or triple teamed.

Hopefully the others decided to stay and fight instead of running away- at the rate these creatures ran, they probably would be as good as dead if they retreated and decided to flee. Their best course of action was to stay and fight, if Severus could actually manage to stand up.

Both the Twi'lek and white haired boy were fiesty as they snapped at Severus. As the two started heading towards the city, everyone else seemed to follow including Issyl. They looked like the dumbest rag-tag group of teenagers the galaxy has ever seen.

Issyl's legs and feet started to ache trudging through the muddy swamp. She was use to traversing the jungles on Yavin, but this swamp was much more daring. She was finally happy when they stumbled upon a road, only to find out it was just as muddy as the rest of the swamp. Before she had time to rest, the noise of mac and cheese being stirred was heard in the distance.

As the Caravan turned the corner, everyone tried their best to evade it. Unfortunately for Issyl, she slipped. She tried to turn too quickly and lost her footing. As she was about to get up, the side of the Caravan rammed right into her face sending her skidding across the road and landing in swamp water. She wasn't unconscious, surprisingly, but was too stunned to get up. Issyl tried to open her eyes and could see the outline of strange monsters, but she couldn't keep her eyes open for long. She would lay down and just groan in pain.

Trudging through the swamp was not the most fun thing ever. It was humid, damp, there were bugs. Her boots seemed to stick to the path with each step, taking a fair bit of effort to pull out. Every now and then there would be a thin sheet of water over the path. Sometimes it would just be a wet spot, other times it concealed a surprise drop into a shin-deep pool of muck. To pass the time, and to keep her mind off the awful going that this was, she chatted with Maura about all the cool apps on the kid's datapad. To be fair, some of them sounded legitimately fun. Some of them even Felis had, and she figured that, well, why the hell not? It's not like she could possibly lose at Letters With Friends to a 10 year old.

As uncomfortable as Felis was in the swamp - all this mud and sweat and grime meant she'd have to do a very thorough bathing later - she was pulling her own weight. The same could not be said of some of her companions. People were drawing ragged on breath, and when she looked at their faces, Felis only saw the dead gaze of someone moving through sheer routine, with no active thought process going into it.

Perhaps she was doing worse than she thought, for when the caravan came barreling around the corner she looked up in surprise, slow to comprehend the danger they were in. As the cart titled and animals skidded, her eyes registered the mass of wood, flesh, hair, and whatever wrapped goods were inside, all of it screaming towards her at a breakneck speed. Felis moved, not even taking the time to plunge herself into the Force to speed her movements. The mud tugged at her heel, causing her to hesitate for a split-second as she tugged at the foot, one wheel sending up furrows in the muck right in her direction

With a shplorp she pulled free and ran to the side, the corner of the cart just kissing her shirt as it sped by. She could feel the wind and sheer force behind what would have been a terrible blow. A half-second later Felis heard a solid, slightly wet THUMP as the cart hit something...or someone. Felis didn't know what, or who, because by now her attention was turning to...whatever the hell those things were. Giant killer frogs with eyes all over their body.

"Oh fu-" she started to shout, startled, and then stopping herself. There's a child here, Felis! -dgesticks what are those?!" He eyes widening in shock, disbelief, and a bit of fear. Instinct took over, and to her feline heritage, instinct told her to go up, to get to the high ground. There was a thick, ancient tree off the path, with gnarled and twisted bark, and massive limbs that stretched for dozens of feet. Wispy moss hung from its branches like fine, organic lace. She darted for the tree and jumped.

Felis scrabbled her way up the tree with relative ease, for there were many knots and burls for handholds, and her tough nails helped her grip the bark. She climbed, five, ten, fifteen feet up until she alighted on one of the massive boughs. She crouched for a moment, feeling the balance, before shrugging off her pack and reaching in for her bow. She removed the strange wooden weapon, noting that she had no arrows. Hoping that going into the tree wasn't a bad idea, and remembering what happened with the lightsabers, she muttered a quick "this better work," she said, drawing the empty bowstring back. Almost like magic, an arrow materialized. She had no idea what quality of arrow it was, but they were about to find out. "I hope it does as much damage as an energy arrow," she whispered, aiming for the big, central eye on the foremost frog abomination and let fly. With a deadly hiss the arrow flew down toward the creature. Felis' heart skipped a beat, she could tell just from the release that it had been a nearly perfect shot.98 With a cry of excitement she quickly drew again and let off another shot, and then another. "EAT THAT, YOU SWAMP FREAKS!" she shouted. From up here, if nothing went wrong, she could do some serious damage on these things.

Varyn's trip through the wilds had gone relatively well all things considered. Maybe it was the fact that he had very little by way of gear to carry or the fact that he had done some survival training before, but by the time they made it to town he was a little tired, but nothing that some rest and good food wouldn't fix.

Or even mediocre food. Really just food in general would have been great.

He was actually rubbing his belly, thinking about how empty it was when the cart started hurtling toward the group. It was primarily because of his position at the edge of the group that he managed to jump to the side, evading being crushed by the incoming cart.

The big guy atop the cart was yelling about something and Varyn was just scowling up at him before his attention was drawn to the squishing, hideous, unsettling sound from the swamp that made his skin crawl.

What the...!? he shouted, seeing whatever that thing was that was coming toward them. He didn't get paid enough for this. He didn't get paid at all.

He glanced back at the group, some smashed into by the cart and one who was probably barely into the double digits of age, and groaned in a mix of disgust and apprehension. He really didn't want to fight this thing, but there weren't any other real options. They couldn't leave the big guy behind or the others in the group who likely wouldn't outrun this thing.

He pulled out his lightsaber and as he activated it, he noted the same... weirdness the others had seen. He might have stopped to think about how that was possible, but he didn't have the time right now.

He lunged forward at the creature, at least trying to distract it if not kill it as he sent a jab at one of its arms, trying to keep his distance at least somewhat so he wasn't hugging the crotch mouth or anything.

Roll: 10/20 for the attack @Logan

"I was being careful! The mud started to swallow me, so it's not my fault," retorted the kid to Severus' warning. Maura went to stick her tongue out at him, but then remembered that he had just helped her with her scrape. "Okay thanks." The rainbow-haired girl then skipped off to join the rest of the group who had started toward the city in the distance.

Maura stayed at the back of the group for most of the time, busying herself by avoiding mud pits and climbing on random branches. Eventually, Maura found herself chatting with Felis, the Zygerrian. She'd never met a Zygerrian before but the older girl seemed pretty cool and Maura was more than happy to babble about her datapad games.

"My favorite game right now is probably either this one called Cupcake Run or this one called Jumpy Porg! In Cupcake Run I have all these different kinds of cupcakes and then I can make teams and run around and kill stuff! Jumpy Porg you jump over these rocks until you die. My high score is 843! I have the highest score out of my whole class."

The kid would talk with Felis for a while, and she only stopped when she ran out of games to talk about. At that point, Maura wanted to sit down, but everyone kept walking, so she did too.

'Maybe Severus will give me a piggyback ride!' With a devilish grin, Maura hoisted her backpack up higher onto her shoulders and trotted forward to catch up to the older boy. By the time she caught all the way up to him, which took a bit since the sticky mud made fast-walking hard, the group had stumbled out onto a road.

"Hey Sev can you--" Before she could finish, he grabbed her and dodged to the side. Maura watched as a cart-gone-wild wheeled past them, missing them by only a few feet. Chasing the cart was a group of ugly swamp creatures. Maura was promptly pushed behind Severus, but neither his pushing nor his command for her to stay behind him was gonna keep her from peeking out from behind him.

"They have crotch-mouths!" she exclaimed. The kid backed up, and in a moment of panic, decided to try and follow Felis up the tree. Maura didn't have much luck though, not with her backpack, so the kid circled around the trunk until she was partially hidden behind it.

'I'll just stay here and watch... I'll jump out if they need help though!'

50/100 for exhaustion
16/20 to dodge the cart
