The Eternal was not happy. It didn't know what had happened precisely on Coruscant, but it could sense the disturbance in the Force. Rage was boiling beneath the surface of the mask, and it awaited the arrival of its Champions.

And Ender Halcyn. The Legionnaire had caused quite the commotion with his attack that had drawn a great deal of attention to the Sith Eternal. The Force sect was in the public eye now beyond the shadow of a doubt, and that begged the question of what the next step was.

The meeting room was large and open. In the center was a holodisplay of the galaxy that showed the varied alignments of the world, and a variety of cultists were moving around the room like mice. Each was trying not to draw the ire of the Eternal.

As soon as the Champions and the Legionnaire arrived, the cultists in the room were dismissed and it was only the four. The first thing that the Eternal noted was that one of its Champions was missing, and the implications of that made it clear what the disturbance he'd felt meant.

"Report. Now," it demanded in its garbled tone from behind the mask.

Calix entered the chambers of the Eternal dressed in his usual leathers, the mask he'd used for the assault left behind on his ship. The battle had gone more or less as planned, save for the number of Jedi. Ender had escaped, defenders had died, half the prison had been blown to shit. The only real complication was the loss of Sol Puara, the oldest of the Champions and a masterful Dark Side assassin/ Calix was not particularly friendly with his fellows, and he couldn't say he'd missed the man, but he certainly hadn't expected to leave Coruscant short one Champion. He hadn't even suspected it would have been partly the doing of one of their own, turned against the Eternal in what must have been a fit of madness.

This situation was bullshit.

As the cultists left the room he walked to within the usual respectful distance of the Eternal he was allowed, bowing deeply before the figure of rage and hatred and swiftly returning to his full height. Niceties aside, the Eternal had asked a question, and from experience the Champion knew he preferred answers to politeness.

Calix spoke first.

"Ender Halcyn escaped during the fighting. Two Jedi and many Rangers fell. Talak Rand was engaged with Sol Puara on Ender's way out by his report, likely joined by the Jedi Ender escaped from. Sol Puara did not survive the encounter." Simple and short, keeping to the point as Calix tended to. This was far from the first bit of wetwork he'd done for his master, and he knew better than to talk more than was needed or add pointless little details. The Eternal doubtless cared little for Barnabus, the apprentice who had died fighting the cathar Jedi. Calix didn't much care either, seeing as he'd done a shit job anyway. Doubtless Ender would be directly questioned before this report was over, but a brief summary would do for a start.

Calix knew they'd sent the desired message, but they'd also lost one of their three Champions, a surprising counterblow. Frankly, Calix hadn't thought the Jedi had it in them to challenge them when it came to killing. Perhaps he'd have to plan more thoroughly for the future. Maybe he'd bring a bigger bomb next time.

Roan entered the chamber a few seconds after Calix and looked up at The Eternal, but not directly at the mask out of respect for her master. She was in the same traditional Sith robes from the battle but left her mask behind and kept her hood off. For her, the battle had went swimmingly and she'd quite enjoyed herself.

But she knew the loss of a champion was a blow to the cult, and that would only anger The Eternal further. This business of a traitor likely wouldn't go over well either, and if it didn't fuel The Eternal's paranoia it certainly fueled Roan's. Were there more traitors in their ranks? That was something she'd have to consider looking into.

At least, after this, she could do her best to absorb any assets, connections and followers of Sol Puara to bolster her position and power base. Obviously she'd have to compete with Calix over it all, unless he'd lost his edge. That, of course, was something she could not bring up here, but her hunger was hard to ignore even as Calix delivered the report.

She considered adding details to it but decided to wait for The Eternal to ask if he wanted them. Speaking up unnecessarily in front of The Eternal tended to get one in...trouble.

Ender entered the same time Roan did, walking to where they were supposed to stand before coming to a halt. He wore nicer robes for this as well, this being the first time he had ever met or seen the Eternal. Everything that he had been done had been for the Eternal and their cause and he should have reveled in this but it came at the news of losing the Arcanist, his old master. When the two Champions and Ender stood in a line side by side, he offered a slight bow to the mask before erecting back to his full height and waited.

Calix spoke first, giving the most essential of the information of what transpired at the prison. Ender was listening but he wasn't focused on what was happening, his gaze just pointed forward and burning into the wall. As Calix recalled the events and specifically about Talak and him departing with the Jedi, his jaw flexed as he ground his teeth together in frustration. His emotions swirled inside him and they would be noticeable to the others in the room. Talak should have been here with him, congratulating him and welcoming him for surviving everything he did. Instead, when he saw him, it was battling Sol and with a Jedi in order to kill him.

Ender's hands were clasped behind his back and his grip for both tightened as his knuckles would turn white underneath the gloves he wore. Despite the anger that flooded through him, he remained standing where he was and stoic as a statue except for the hands behind his back. Not only was he standing beside the Champions but he was in front of the Eternal as well and he would wait until he was spoken to before opening his mouth. He would listen in the meantime but his mind would constantly drift to Talak and replaying the scene of him in the prison when he turned away from him Ender.

The Eternal was silent, but the anger swirling behind the mask - obvious in the Force - betrayed the reality of its mood. It took stock of the situation as it was described. Two Jedi and Rangers for a Champion and how many more of the Sith? That hardly sounded like a resounding success.

The betrayal of a Warden was further appalling, and begged the question of how that had been missed. Surely a betrayal of this nature had to have had warning signs, and yet no one had discovered it? Were those in the Sith Eternal incompetent or conspirators?

Sol Puara had been one of the most potent members of the Sith Eternal. Both in terms of combat and in his influence he was deadly, but now he was gone. The Eternal would need a new spymaster, but that would have to wait.

Rand, Aran, and the Jedi would all need to die, and yet not even the Ranger was dead yet.

Casualty count? it asked of Roan. It was her operation, and therefore much of the blame fell on her, but it would be spread freely among all those in the room. She had been silent in the report, and this opened her opportunity to give input. The Eternal wanted to know how many of their minions had been lost for what they had earned.

Its gaze then turned to Ender. The Legionnaire's anger was practically a beacon in the Force. Whether he was trying and failing to hide it or he had no interest in concealment at all was in question.

The Eternal knew that Ender had been captured in an attack on the Lieutenant Aran, but it didn't escape notice that Lieutenant Aran was still alive. Ender would be able to feel the penetrating gaze fall on him. It was an uncomfortable and scrutinizing gaze.

Your attack and capture. Report, it demanded next. Before any decisions were rendered, all information needed to be gathered. There was a great deal that would need to change now. The Sith Eternal were public, and that would mean changes to how they operated. Open war would be upon them soon, and Fortress Eternal would be compromised with the defection of one of their own.

As expected, the Eternal's anger did nothing but grow, but it grew much more than Roan thought it would. Roan was fully aware that she lacked some things in the emotional department. It had, at first, hindered her training when she was young, but turned out to be a boon that allowed her to bath deeply in the Dark Side, perhaps moreso than many around. Thus her reaction to her masters anger was simply worry that she was going to be punished at some point for one reason or another, so she tensed but was ready for it.

When The Eternal turned to her for a report, she did her best to recall it all. "On our side one champion, two legionnaires and three guardians. On their side two Jedi and over twenty rangers," she answered, having lost count of the rangers but suspecting not much if any went beyond that count. She didn't consider the guardians much of an asset loss, since the ones that died were blind to the Force, but not everyone held the same opinion within the Sith so she didn't bother including that little detail.

Her attention flickered to the Legionnaire beside her after, his anger almost rivaling that of the Eternal's. She too was curious about his story and how he got into such a mess.

Calix rose an eyebrow in response to Ender broadcasting of his emotions but said nothing. He was more concerned with the Eternal's mounting frustration with the lack of progress. Calix also found it worrying. How was it possible that Ender, a Legionnaire of the Eternal, had gone up against an ordinary Ranger and only almost killed her? It's almost like he'd gone in without a plan of some kind.

But of course, that couldn't be right. Few would be foolish enough to declare war on someone and not expect them to be on guard. Calix was just as eager as Roan to find out the specifics. The more they learned about their enemy, the more precisely they could strike back. Perhaps it was enough in the end that it had taken a SWAT team to capture the young man.

He stayed silent beside the other two, paying close attention to the words that were spoken. The information that followed could very well shape how the Eternal decided to act next, and what sort of plans Calix needed to make in turn after he'd gathered pieces of what was left of Sol's faction. He could feel Roan's eagerness to do the same. They'd never really got along, the madwoman and the hitman, but their rivalry would have to wait.

Before the Eternal, there was no such thing as rivalry. Only obedience.

Ender hadn't been broadcasting his emotions on purpose, he just couldn't disguise them because it required too much focus when his mind was still wrapping around the betrayal. But when the others started to stare at him for answers, he only brought his gaze to the Eternal. "After the attack on Corellia, it sturred the hornet's nest. I tracked her down but she managed to place a call to get back up. She received injuries but I was surrounded before I could kill her. It will never happen again." The tone in his voice almost confirmed that if Ender saw the opportunity again, his blade would not hesitate to be pierced through her heart. He left out how many Rangers and Police had died that day too but he still had missed the main prize of Trys.

"After that, I was transported into the prison and placed in a cell. They interrogated me to no effect and after that, I escaped when the attack was launched but was held up by some Jedi. Sol told me to leave the prison immediately and I followed his orders and that's where I found him battling the..." Ender's jaw tightened again, as he inhaled slightly before muttering out the word with venom, "Arcanist." That was the bare bones of his report and he returned his gaze straight forward when he had finished speaking.

He didn't know what was supposed to happen next. Would he be required to leave to let the Champions and Eternal plan? Or was the only reason here was for his report and to be punished afterward? There were different possibilities but he remained like a statue and kept his stance sturdy. Just saying the name out loud of the Arcanist filled him with anticipation of crossing paths with his old master. There was much to do if he even was allowed to walk out of this meeting and nothing will stop him from wrapping his hands around Talak's throat.

Six dead and among them a Champion. The numbers were not atrocious, but they were much higher than they should have been. Particularly with the death of the Champion. But there was little point in dwelling on the fact any more at the moment.

The mask shifted instead to Ender as he gave his explanation of what happened. The attack on Corellia had been a rousing success and while the attack on Lieutenant Aran hadn't. Coupled with the man's performance at Mustafar...

The mask seemed to burn through the Legionnaire as silence filled the room. The instinct was to send the man to finish his job and do it right, but at this point the Lieutenant would no doubt be heavily guarded and an attack on Aran would be anticipated. More casualties they couldn't afford.

If the Arcanist has defected, then all of our operations and locations are compromised, it said slowly. Fortress Eternal would have to be abandoned and the ancient Sith sites would no longer be a possibility for resettlement. They would have to either find a new place in the Unknown Region, acquire a settled world, or locate a world in the Outer Rim of low populace that they could take over. The lattermost seemed the best option if they were to have easy access to the galaxy with minimum exposure. Much as the Rebels had done on Hoth.

The Sector Rangers will be a thorn in our side and the Free World Alliance will come for us. Legionnaire, you will locate a new world for our home. Do not fail me again, it hissed. The tone of voice would tell him precisely what would happen if he failed. But likewise, his success wouldn't be overlooked either.

Dismissed, it said, and waited for the Legionnaire to turn and leave before turning to his Champions. The two of them. Normally Sol would have been the one the Eternal would have relied on for operations like this, but that meant there was room for expansion for his Champions going forward.

Our presence has been revealed and we need to reposition, it said, but this was nothing more than it had just said to Ender.

Without our secrecy anymore, we will need to make more overt actions: both attacks and recruitment of allies, it said. They would both know that this didn't mean they walked into public and announced the locations of their bases, but the need to pretend the Sith weren't in the galaxy any longer could come to a close.

Enemies of the Alliance and Rangers obviously includes the Syndicates, but it comes with its own risks, it stated, leaving the floor open to the two of them.

Ender could feel the Eternal's eyes upon him but he didn't flinch. Their leader pointed out that with his master gone, so was all the wealth of information he knew, including where the Sith were. The Eternal then told him that the duty of finding a new homeworld for them fell to him and he glanced toward the mask. There was anger that radiated through the mask and he knew the Eternal was in a tricky position. With the loss of the Warden and the Arcanist, the mask needed allies and most likely gave the chance that he was offered. He gave a nod and when he was dismissed, he gave a slight bow before spinning on his foot and heading for the door.

There were plenty of choices to make and he would need to conduct enough research to find a suitable location for them. Not only did he have a mission now but the Knights would as well. With events that had unfolded, they had been waiting in the shadows patiently and it was time for them to come out. Ender exited from the room moments later and let the others continue their conversation as he went to his ship to begin.

Calix watched Ender turn around and march out of the room, filled with determination and purpose. The Champion approved. His hate could make him strong and forge him into a weapon worthy of the Eternal, like Calix had been himself. Let him make use of those zealous Knights of his, and if he did it well they would become a force to be reckoned with. Of course, it was that become the newest piece of splatter art in the Eternal's collection.

The Champion turned back towards the Eternal and thought on what he said. More overt action was certainly needed, and while the Sith certainly had Dark Side users at its disposable it did not have a true army or even ships. While rapid ground strikes were perfectly possible, such as at the prison on Coruscant, in a real war they would draw the attention of governments that possessed military assets. They needed allies, but they also needed hardware and credits to get things done.

"The Crimson Dawn deal in artifacts, high priced goods, ship fuel, and information. If we can convince them to ally with us, we would spread our influence at the hands of people who already share a similar viewpoint to our on. The Hutt clans are probably the wealthiest of the Syndicates, but are disparate, greedy, and distrustful of Force users after the Arcanist's work. We should convince Durr otherwise, work through intermediaries, or else ensure he is succeeded sooner than later."

Calix did not trust Hutts, but the filthy slugs were rich and had been an established force in the underworld for longer than the Republic had existed. If they bothered to agree on any one thing at any given time, the resources they could bring forward could be monstrous in proportion.

"I suggest the Crimson Dawn. Show the Syndicates what the Sith can do, and Durr will bend under the pressure rather than allow a rival an advantage."

Roan listened as the Eternal hissed his command. A new home world was a necessity, and at least this legionnaire that cost the life of a champion could do something worthwhile. Assuming he didn't fail to find an appropriate world.

When the Eternal dismissed the man and the conversation turned to their current situation Roan pitched in again, "The Crimson Dawn and hutts seem like the most obvious allies, though ones I fear could be swiftly turned against us if we don't constantly stay on our toes and play our cards correctly. I do think we should seek an alliance with them, but perhaps they shouldn't be our sole focus."

The youngest on the council tapped her cheek in thought for a second. "Perhaps we should not only find a new home world but also spread ourselves out more, make us less of an easy target. Find worlds in all parts of the galaxy, infiltrate their governments and influence them. At first we could, at least, gain their support either publicly or secretly then root ourselves on their planets. Surely we can invest in a couple secret temples or bases in the most isolated areas on their planets," she suggested.

"Then we can perhaps move onto turning them against the Jedi and rangers; use them for our own means if we can root ourselves deep enough. We are already working on gaining influence on Naboo and Serenno, surely we can find other worlds after those have been secured," she added. Perhaps her suggestion would require much more time invested than the hutts, but if they choose the correct planets and placed strong supporters in power, it might be more secure and stable in the long run.

The Eternal listened in silence as the two Champions spoke. Crimson Dawn was certainly a logical group to ally with, but the Hutts? They seemed the worst choice of the Syndicates. That traitor, the Arcanist, had caused enough problems with the Hutts. The Black Sun had the largest army, and it was beginning to look like bodies was what the Sith lacked.

The Hutt, Durr hates all Force-users. We'll find no ally in him, but facilitating his downfall to the Black Sun might earn us an ally with both wealth and soldiers, it said.

With both Crimson Dawn and Black Sun we may yet undermine the Rangers and the Free World Alliance, it said. Particularly if the soldiers of the Sun managed to overthrow the Hutts. It would be a difficult operation to say the least, but the payoff would be high.

When Roan spoke up about governments, however, it was a total shift in the conversation. The Eternal said nothing for a moment as it considered her suggestion.

It agreed that there was something to be gained by spreading out, but infesting worlds? Taking over governments? It seemed counter to how they'd been operating, but then, what the Sith were doing was only... somewhat successful.

A galactic civil war? it asked, reframing her plan in another light. War purged the galaxy and harvested death. The idea of kicking off wars between legitimate governments certainly had merit in the Eternal's eyes.

Roan smiled. "Yes! What a wonderfully exciting way to put it!" she answered nearly giggling and emphatically gesturing in the air. She was unable to control herself. Death gave her an emotional high like no other.

"I realize this would be a long term investment, and it would take a good amount of our brothers and sisters to accomplish it but it wouldn't take a ton, especially once the pieces are in place," she began. "What I'm suggesting is invest the minimal amount of assets possible into provoking this... galactic civil war to keep our enemies busy, while we invest the rest into expanding our own ranks and making key attacks when needed."

There was a lot to gain from this, at least she thought. It was something she'd mused about for quite some time now, ever she heard about the going-ons on Naboo and Serenno. "And while I know this is getting far ahead of myself, if we root ourselves deep enough onto a world, there will be potential there reap the planet of further benefits. For example, I believe the people may become more susceptible to recruitment and perhaps if they have shipyards we could find ourselves a way to... relieve them of some ships. But again, I'm getting ahead of myself."

Calix did not particularly like the Black Sun, but he couldn't really disagree with what the Eternal said. Beyond the fact it was the Eternal saying it, the reasoning was sound. Calix's initial approach had been more subtle than enacting conflict between the syndicates, but war worked just as well. Either way he'd get to get back to his favorite kind of work.

Then Roan spoke of empire-building and governments. Calix turned to look at the madwoman, then considered it for a moment. He turned back to the Eternal after a few seconds to offer his thoughts on the idea.

"War and conquest brings power and wealth like little else, but also evolution and the purging of the weak we're after. If we make the right moves, our gathered power will attract the greedy, the angry, and the fearful to our banner, like the Empires of Old." Despite the nature of the Sith, even in recent history they have gathered armies and fleets through one method or another to set fire to the galaxy and claim it was their own. If subtlety wasn't the order of the day, why not aggression?

After all, no one waged war quite like the Sith. The thought of outright war excited Calix, who had been a fighter and a killer most of his life. He excelled at and specialized in combat more than his fellow Champions and was eager to take that skill to the battlefield. He and his powerbase were warriors of the Dark Side, and would doubtless increase in power in prestige should total war break out. Especially if he could bring the Knights of Ren under his wing. Their thirst for blood and sheer determination was admirable if nothing else. So long as Ender didn't fail in his task and get cast aside, he may have many paths opened up for him.

"We should deal with the Syndicates first. We need forces and funding before we can do any of this."

The Eternal could sense the excitement and anticipation within both of its top Champions. There was merit to what they said. They had been exposed, and that meant they would need power and influence as quickly as possible. Harvesting fear would bring the worlds of the galaxy in line. There was no more hope for concealment.

The Empires of Old, the Eternal repeated the statement of Calix. Perhaps it was time to expand beyond the borders of the Unknown Region and reclaim the galactic power they deserved. The destruction and death that a galactic civil war would bring would suit the Eternal nicely.

Perhaps it is time for the galaxy to hear of the return of the Sith Order and the rise of a new Dark Lord of the Sith, it said, and the mask fell on Calix. The Eternal Legions were the group that had historically questioned the decisions of the Sith of old, and the Eternal had no intention of making the same mistake again. With Sol dead, he was the last representative and therefore de facto representative of the Eternal Legions. If anyone would object, it would be him. But there was no better way for the Legions to accomplish their goal than through power of their own.

The Eternal had no intention of making the same mistakes of the past. The Sith would need to be wary and careful of their steps going forward. Even now, their steps couldn't be so blatant as to court open war. They would have to fight like water, slipping through the fingers and crashing with the force of a wave.

There was no way that Calix could miss behind the meaning behind that covered gaze and the Eternal's sudden attention. Calix currently commanded the entirety of what was once the Legions of Lettow, the most combat-ready arm of the Sith Eternal. If he decided in this moment to abandon the rule of the Eternal and try to take the title of Dark Lord for himself, now would be the optimum time. The idea was only very briefly considered, a matter of fact that he let slide away into nothingness.

Calix was powerful and ambitious, yes, but he was also a man who lead and fought best in the service of another's cause. He would be no obstacle. He dropped to a knee and bowed his head before the Eternal.

"My blades and my legions are at your service, my lord." he said, and he meant it. The Eternal was essentially what had given him a new life doing what he loved after the streets and struggle of his youth, and he had no interest in toppling the dark figure even if he could manage it. A schism would not go well for the Sith, especially now. He would lead the Eternal's armies in burning worlds too weak or foolish to join them, killing in his name like he always had, until he was killed in turn.

"The galaxy has waited for the return of the Sith Order," Roan said, a toothy smile growing on her lips. She could see no better way for war, death and destruction or the advancement of their knowledge in the Dark Side than to follow through with everything discussed here. Surely there was more knowledge and artifacts out there, and with their grip around the necks of worlds they could rip away any in their clutches.

The youngest of the council watched Calix kneel, and went to hers too, but looked up at The Eternal with that toothy smile of hers. It would be able to sense her hunger and excitement grow and grow as she spoke once more, "Long has it been ready for you, Dark Lord of the Sith."

And so it was done. The Sith Order would return once again to the galaxy, bent under the will of the one who had united them. And that force of dark side warriors would spread and kill and force the rest of the galaxy into submission.

Then rise, my Sith Lords, it said. We have our work ahead for us. It is time the galaxy knew of the return of the Sith, but still we will need to be cautious, it said. The Sith Order was in a precarious position even now, but they were strong, and others would bend to their will.

The conquest of Naboo and Serenno will continue, and we will turn our sites to the Syndicates. We will need soldiers to continue our expansion and force worlds under our thumb, it said. The question remained of how to handle the Free World Alliance. They weren't going to be eager to go to war, but the sleeping bear had already been prodded. They would have to be wary going forward.

Go, my Sith Lords. Conquer and destroy. Nothing will stand in our way, it said.
