The galaxy seemed to continue down a path towards all out violence, while a majority of the denizens across countless planets simply wanted to live in peace, and quiet. Oren wanted nothing more than to be away on Rishi, living along the beach in a quiet contemplation that would befit a Jedi Master. But, Nara, Nashyr, and everyone needed his help. The images of the Red Blades cutting down the Sector Rangers on Corellia left him with a shiver--and he thought about Officer Trys and the few rangers that had come to his aide while in prison. He wanted to protect them, and was willing to join their ranks, to keep their organization safe.

He would wait outside of the old detainment center, his lone eye peering towards the hallway that lead to the chambers he spent two years behind. The memories of the men he met, the feelings he had felt came flooding back to him. Trys was apparently away, but another older Officer was supposed to meet him as part of his community service agreement--he could only hope the man was as open as she had been. So he waited for him to arrive, unsure of the galaxy and the part he would play.

"Jedi Master Oren Zapan is waiting for you," a chronically uninterested voice said over the edge of Darmus' datapad. For a moment the Sector Ranger didn't respond in any way, too afraid he'd lose the final moments of the District Five Speeder Championship race. Only when it was clear that bookie's favorite was sure to win did he look up into the eyes of a bored forty-something rodian spinster. "Alright, alright." the man sighed and closed the live-stream with some reluctance before rising from his chair and heading towards the exit.

Oren Zapan was the only jedi that Darmus had ever met and even then he had only spoken to him if he needed some additional information that would help to add to his prison records and dossier. It had been a strange experience, seeing a man be at peace with being investigated, trialed and then convicted for accessory to murder. His cooperation and -albeit unconfirmed- Darmus' profile of the man had no doubt earned him his reduced sentence of only 24 months. With everything that happened since on Corellia and elsewhere, it was clear that whoever the Jedi as an organization were, be it invasive and crusader-style warriors that killed from a personal religious conviction or otherwise, that Oren Zapan was someone that could be trusted to do the right thing.. eventually.

Approaching the Jedi Master, Darmus noticed that he didn't have to force a polite smile, because he seemed honestly pleased to see the Jedi even though his face wasn't really pleasant to look at. "Master Zapan," the ranger said in way of greeting and extended his hand. "Hope you didn't forget the Force, because this case might need it."

The Jedi Master would turn towards the voice, finding himself standing before an aged Sector Ranger. He looked familiar, but couldn't quite put a name to the face. His eyes though, seemed worn and tired, he imaged they all were because of the events on Corellia. With a soft sigh, he would bow his head respectfully, "I'm sorry for your friends on Corellia," he'd bite down against the bottom of his lip as he thought about his own encounters, "It seems that we are entering times of uncertainty, and I only wish for the children's sake that it hadn't been this way."

He wasn't sure why they claimed to be Jedi, these Red Sabers and their destruction. Oren didn't want to be a soldier one bit, he wanted to live a life of peace, with those he cared about. But, it seemed that the peace he so desired would have to come for his children, and that fact scared him. He forced himself not to worry about that now as the aging Sector Ranger quipped a joke towards him. With a gentle nod, his voice would crack, "Well..the Force doesn't work on weekends..or holidays," he'd say with a weak smile. Now's not the time to worry...

Darmus snorted, "hah!" He hadn't expected the Jedi to tell a joke, but seeing as the past weeks had been a real nightmare it sure did break the ice. "Good thing it's tuesday, then." Darmus walked past the Jedi and then stopped after a few feet, "walk with me."

For some reason Darmus generally preferred to travel by public transport as if he'd hate to see all that infrastructure go to waste. There was another more real reason, ofcourse, because the ranger service didn't pay for his slicing equipment and he had the choice between his toys and owning a speeder, or a bigger apartment. Anyway, as they walked over to the nearest platform the veteran ranger raised his datapad and swiped an image up to have it projected in holo. "We suspect this kriffer-" the image showed a shadowy figure whose profile was filled with blank spots as if it had been obscured in the original picture. The only thing that was truly striking about it was it's eyes, which shone yellow. "-to be responsible for multiple homicides in the Zeltron District. When I saw the eyes it reminded me of-" he paused to swallow without actually needing to. The Jedi, if attuned to Darmus' emotional state, would undoubtedly notice he was in emotional turmoil. "-of Corellia." He tried to flash a polite smile and all it did was emphasize that his eyes were hurting. "Figured it was another Force user." Inwardly he cursed himself for getting emotional again. He was fine as long as he wasn't reminded this vividly, but he didn't think he would ever forget the eyes of that executioner and the emotion and grief that it now represented. Hopefully one day to would catch him and then make him suffer.

They reached the platform without much delay and got on the crowded train. "I don't suppose you already have some theories? Personally, if I understand this Force thing right, I think it might be a non-Zeltron whose affected by their-" he winked, "-you know-" but then he frowned as he wasn't sure if the jedi was monk and if that meant he didn't actually have the faintest clue of what he was talking about. "-rejection might've tipped him over the edge."

Oren didn't mind public transportation himself, he used it quite often in his own personal time. To be among the people and their various ages and faces provided Oren with a sense of life and purpose. This is why he was a Jedi, and stood on the side of life and peace. He had no qualms or naive notions that these people weren't suffering, many of them were just like had as a slave during his childhood.

The Jedi master would turn to peer towards the datapad, taking in the blurry picture with a bit of a nod. He could sense the pain in the man's words, as he mentioned this killer's eyes. He would sit back in his chair, contemplating the actions for a moment. It could be another force user, but it would depend on the types of killings, and it wasn't something he could really say with certain until he saw a scene. But, when the man brought up the Zeltron people and their thing, the Jedi couldn't help, but let out a soft chuckle as he thought about Nashyr and her sweet golden eyes.

"My face might look like Nexu schudda, but a certain lady finds it charming," he'd say with some yearning to his words, though he'd quickly center himself. "Rejection could be possible, certainly..How many people has this figure killed, and what is the manner of the deaths?"

Darmus chose to ignore the joke about the jedi's face and the ladies finding it charming, instead he tapped a few times on his datapad and the names of four young Zeltron ladies appeared. "He killed four times, each time blunt force trauma but the last one-" he scrolled to the details of the latest victim but heard his chat get interrupted by the train's intercom welcoming its passengers to the Zeltron District.

They exited the train and Darmus lead the jedi to the location of the last murder as he attempted to finish his brief before they'd arrive. "The last one had electrical burns and they weren't just on the victim either," he left that last part vague as the Jedi would see what he meant soon enough. "I suspect it to be the same kind of thing I saw on that video," he tapped a few times more and then swiped upwards, projecting the video shared with the galaxy by Durr the Hutt. In it you could clearly see one of the saber-wielding combatants shooting lightning from its hands.

When they reached the crime scene there was a surprising amount of 'evidence' in open view of anyone walking one of the busiest streets in the district. In a small alcove in between a noodle shop and an electronics vendor strange lightning-like black lines were visible on the durasteel and concrete walls. They were obviously burn-marks of an erratic kind of electricity. "They found her here before the shops opened the day before yesterday." To help him visualize, Darmus opened up an image of her corpse laying in said alcove. She had burn-marks on her chest and the clothing seemed to have burn away slightly, revealing more of her than would be considered proper.

Oren listened to the Ranger as they walked along the platform and towards the location of the last murder. Four people taken down within a relatively short time, it seemed the man had some sort of vibro-sword to grind, but why he was doing it--that still perplexed the Jedi Master. Blunt Force Trauma, and electrical burns...

He didn't need to see the video to know what it looked like, his face bore the scars of such an attack, and he knew the damage that it could do upon a person. "If this true..then they are a dangerous individual, that ability is not the act of any normal force user..it requires one's emotions and malice to burn within them."

He would pause with a heavy breath as he peered towards the small alley between the two stores, his eye trailing over the burn markings that had been engraved within the durasteel. He peered towards the Zeltron and her charred pink skin, it was a horrible way to die. He would slowly walk towards the scene of the crime, doing his best to not really push anything out of place. His burnt flesh hand would gently rest against the faint burned outline of the corpse, as he closed his eye. Slowly taking a deep breath as he began to feel the force flow through him, and visions of the past began to come to light.

OOC: Let me know what you think I should see, his skills aren't expert in psychometry yet, but he could get a good idea about the scene.

Before Oren a misty vision would appear of a young beautiful Zeltron girl in her early twenties. She was a classic beauty whose smile could lift a room, but she didn't do that at all- just before the visage of her disappeared Oren would see utter terror on her face and then a bright ice blue-ish light.

Darmus stood by impatiently, "Well?" he asked, not really understanding what the Jedi was doing and finding it a bit weird he'd caress the ground. "You think it's lightning or not?" the ranger couldn't care less if it was a jedi's "advanced" technique or just easy-peasy. Kriff, for him everything involving Oren's kind was karking advanced. He'd know.. he had tried to conjure up some su'shi with the Force the other day and... well, let's not delve on the specifics of how he smashed his coffee table.

His eyes left the Jedi master and returned to the image on his datapad and the dead girl. "It's just-" for a ranger whose cases usually involved catching slicers or thieves, this string of murders, seemingly connected to the events on Corellia and even Hutt Space, had his emotional state more wrecked than he'd would ever dare to admit outright. "-such a bloo-" he shook his head, "-just terrible."

When Oren turned around to face Darmus, the vision suddenly continued;

Behind Darmus a horned man, slightly shorter than the Sector Ranger, seemed to be crying. His eyes unmistakably yellow as he looked at his own hands with an utterly confused look. Then the neon-lights of the noodles shop changed color and ruined the image and made the vision disappear.
