(OOC NOTE: This thread is only open to anyone who is a member of, or is associated with, the Galactic Senate (New Republic, FWA, ISC, Jedi council. )

It was a stormy day on Naboo, the sort where the rain poured down at an angle that rendered any umbrella useless. Security was doing their best to help usher the arriving politicians inside, whilst also doing health checks and screening for weapons. Security was tight, just as it had been on Chandrila last month. Especially with the tensions between the Free Worlds Alliance and the New Republic, they weren't intent on loosening it either.

Unlike the gray Senate Chambers on Chandrila, the one here on Naboo was made of white stone and accented with gold and blue tones. The chambers here also had long, thin windows barely a foot wide lining various parts of the walls. When sunny, the incoming sunlight might reflect off the gold accents, but at the moment they were muddled by the water running down the glass.

As last time, most of the representative government officials were arriving roughly 30 minutes before the session would begin.

The Speaker

The Speaker had arrived earlier than most, and was already seated in her pod in the center of the room. Behind her were the three chairs dedicated to the leaders of the ISC, NR and FWA, and in front of her was the semi circle with four sections for each government body. The middle-aged woman leaned back in her seat, reading tabloids on her datapad while she waited for everyone to arrive.

Supreme Chancellor Emil Ro had last walked the halls of the Galactic Senate as merely one of a hundred Republic delegates. Now he was not only the leader of that delegation, but the leader of the entire New Republic. The position was not without its burdens. He was well-aware of what this session had been called for, as well as what would be lobbed at him, but he couldn't let such things weigh on him now. The New Republic required leadership, and it required action. Let the Senate squabble as it always did. Yell at him if they must. This was the price of leadership.

The Chancellor arrived in his seat first, silently nodding to the Speaker as he passed her and sit down. It was a lonely place. Joost could not be here with him as he had been at the last meeting. He already missed the young aide's quick wit. But he was Chancellor now. He would survive this session without his aide, just as President Thorne and the Prime Minister did every session.

The newly appointed senator of Byblos had arrived in less style than some of her colleagues would. Her method of transport to Naboo had been a standard-issue executive shuttle with a low-rated hyperdrive. She hadn't had the time to settle into and decorate her offices on both Chandrila and Naboo, but something told her that she would be preferring to attend these sessions over the holo in the future. It was one thing to be away from Byblos and have a permanent office and an apartment on Chandrila, but constantly travelling between the Core and the Outer Rim would take weeks out of her schedule that she couldn't afford to lose as a new senator. There were so many new developments to keep track off and so many old ones to acquaint herself with.

With some purpose in her steps, Jana searched for and quickly found the seat reserved for the Senator of Byblos, where she sat down. It was strange to be here and while some may spend their time until the start of the session on their datapads reading tabloids, she looked around at the richly decorated hall. Leave it to the planet of Naboo to make everything look ostentatious.

Sibyl arrived at the Senate with her protocol droid, Dongwa. Even the torrential rain outside couldn't undo the Senator's good mood.

"Are these clothes really necessary?" her droid said regarding what she was wearing at the moment. It was the traditional attire used by Brentaalan women when mourning, a black dress with a veil. " We don't even know if the boy is dead yet."

She turned to Dongwa, smiling behind the veil. "Of course he is dead by now. It has been more than 48 hours since Tristodd was kidnapped." Sibyl was struggling to control her happiness. She was free of the boy and didn't had to do anything. Fate had smiled at her! "If my sources are correct, the Brentioch refused to talk with the kidnappers. The Hutt will be so mad at it that they will probably want to kill him." the Brentaalan woman was elated.

"These clothes show that I share the suffering of House Brentioch." it would also be good to show to the citizens of the Galaxy that she cared for her deceased aide. Tristodd's death was going to be excellent for her image.

They climbed in the pod designed for the Senator of Brentaal. Sibyl took her datapad and started to read the topics of today's assembly. While reading it, a thought crossed her mind briefly. She missed Tristodd's notes, it used to be helpful. But soon it was replaced by happiness. He is gone!

After reading the topics, Sibyl concluded that this session was going to be interesting. While the pod started to move to the New Republic's section of the Senate Chamber, Sibyl was smiling profusely. Thankfully, no one could see it due to her veil. Tristodd was dead!

With Naboo being an ISC planet, Emryc had intended on being early. However, the tabloids about him having contracted AMS were out of control. The half Sephi was already beyond irritated due to current events, and it was further amplified by a slew of medical droids and personnel that insisted that he be tested a few times before walking in. Media circled around him like hungry predators as he had his jacket removed, sleeves rolled up and checked for bites. He kept a blank face through it all, though viewers would note that his appearance overall appeared slightly different. His face was more gaunt, he had dark circles under his eyes and there was an emptiness in his eyes that was different from the usual intense frost.

After the tests came up clean, it was announced as such to the reporters and shown to hopefully ward off that tabloid for good. Emryc snatched his jacket back before putting it on and buttoning it up before he quietly strode into the senate chambers. The half Sephi’s irritation was visible on his normally stoic face as he approached his pod and took a seat.

By the time Emryc arrived, the hall had a large number of diplomats and Jedi already in their seats. The half Sephi looked around to take in sight of everyone, nodding to Lassiter in greeting as he noted she dressed as if grieving. He also nodded towards the Byblos senator. Golden mottled silver eyes then panned over till they came to rest on the Chancellor. He broke eye contact shortly after because of what he felt coming next.

Almost at once, Emryc’s ears twitched and swiveled, bending towards his head. If he had been a full Sephi, the ears would be completely flattened. His nostrils flared slightly. The half Sephi worked to control the rage that threatened to bubble over. For a brief moment, there would be a slight rustle in the chambers that could easily be mistaken for a small earthquake or power drilling being done somewhere. Chandeliers jingled and there was a light vibration along the floors and walls. The Jedi in the room looked around curiously, but everyone else would likely think it was nothing more than construction.

Emryc quickly reeled himself in, calling upon his years of dedicated focus and control to get a hold of his rage. He couldn’t afford to blow his cover in such a spectacular way. He reached for a glass of water set in his pod just as it was for everyone else, taking a sip as he looked down at the water. Emryc set the water down as his gaze flicked back towards the Chancellor while the man was looking in another direction.

The slightest brush of the Force moved the cup of water by the Chancellor off the edge, tipping it over to dump the contents directly into the man’s lap. He would appear as if he soiled himself the rest of the day. Emryc pointedly looked away, casually placing his chin in his palm with elbow resting on the edge of the pod. Fortunately for him, it was an exceptionally subtle use of the Force and there were multiple Jedi to blame before anyone thought to focus on him. Force use could be detected, but it was impossible to pinpoint to a person.

Feeling satisfied, the half Sephi’s features softened slightly. In truth, he quite liked the Chancellor and the man had no faults for invoking rage. Neither did Morgan. Both were at liberty to do whatever they pleased. However, that didn’t mean Emryc was beyond the period of coping where he had no qualms being incredibly petty.

Ah yes, Naboo. On most circumstances it is a beautiful planet though unfortunately Flauki was here for business. Which meant he couldn't go enjoy a time out on the town just yet. He needed to attend this meeting and since it was held in ISC space, there was no reason for him to be missing it. As he was walking into the building he had his assistant, Sarrelli, who was also his sitser, give him a slight brief of what all was going on.

"... And that's basically it Flauki. Should I grab us some drinks for the meeting?"

"Are you kidding me? This a professional meeting with high class politicians.."

"You're right I'm so sorry.."

"Now.. get like three mimosas for myself and whatever you want for the meeting, we'll be here a while."

Flauki would whisper the last part to his assistant as he straightened up and put on a smile. He had a bit of an exhausted eye roll as he turned to walk into the meeting room. There was the Speaker front and center, with the President and Chancellor behind her. President Thorne as intimidating as always, and then Chancellor Ho.. Ro! Always get that name wrong darn it. As Flauki quickly surveyed the room and he had found where the ISC Representatives were seated and he took his seat. Fortunately for himself it was further in the back. Gave some coverage for his mimosas coming. Once he was seated he pulled out the stock market app on his data pad and would check to see how his stocks were looking.

This was only the Senate's second meeting since the beginning of her term. There were significantly less items on the agenda this time around, and yet Korre felt as if this Senate carried much more weight than the last. So much had happened between last month and now. The Sith and the Free Worlds Alliance were at war, Firrere had been glassed by the Sith, and the New Republic had retaliated by attacking a Sith-held Free Worlds planet.

Like Sibyl, Korre had also come in all black, though hers was not meant for grieving. Korre entered the Senate Chambers in a black pantsuit sprinkled with damp spots from the torrential rain outside. As she made her way towards her seat, her blue eyes searched for and landed on Emil for several seconds. She would only look away when his glass of water spilled over onto him, after which she quickly glanced away. 'Some thunder,' she thought as a slight rumble shook the room. She was incredibly unsure of her opinion on the Chancellor. While she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt from previous interactions with him, the Belascan could not find a single excuse as to why she shouldn't be upset with him at the moment. And she was. The entirety of the Free Worlds alliance was upset with the New Republican leader. Korre imagined his own people weren't too happy with him either.

As she continued towards her seat, Korre's attention would be drawn to the obviously mourning woman in the room again. 'Poor Sibyl,' Korre thought to herself. 'She must be so torn up over Tristodd's death.' The ginger woman made a mental note to catch her afterwards and offer her condolences.

Korre finally reached her chair. She sat down, crossed her legs, and began to quickly type on the screen of her datapad. After a minute or two she began to let her eyes wander around the room once again, jumping from senator to representative to governor until they landed on Emyrc. 'How does the ISC president feel about all this?' she wondered. The Sith had yet to bother the ISC that she knew of. For once it seemed the focus would be wholly between the New Republic and the Free Worlds Alliance. There'd been a lot in the holonet and tabloids about the man recently. Perhaps he would get a break from it all soon. She was sure that heated words between the NR and FWA would take up most of the cameras' attention.

No one could have predicted, nor would they have believed it even if they were told in advance, that in the short span of time between one senate session closing and another opening that so much could change. Whereas the last meeting of the Galactic Senate had involved tackling stagnant social issues and the intricacies of trade between the three governments, this one would no doubt be courting betrayal and the coming war with the Sith instead. There was a possibility of war breaking out with the FWA as well, if nothing was done about the actions of the Supreme Chancellor.

The dismal weather suited her mood, that was for sure.

Eumi and her Telbun made their way through the screenings and health checks like everyone else, the Senator wearing a fetching gown of soft purple that seemed to float around her as if it was made of air. The style of the dress was unmistakably similar to that of an Ambassador she'd met after the last senate session, gathering at one of her slender shoulders and flowing over it and behind her in a long train. She would have no patience for the media today, though they gathered around her like scavengers after a carcass, and would provide far less beguilement than she usually offered them – though she still had to reply to at least some of their questions, lest her silence be twisted against her and against Kuat as well. Her expression was stern the whole while, and her responses to their questions would be brief and well-practiced.

“Senator Redrish! Senator Redish! Who are you wearing today?”

“My dress and shoes are both Vianni Persace, and my Telbun is wearing Jorgio Irmani.”

"Senator! Do you find any of your colleagues attractive?"

“I do not.” Eumi's eyebrow twitched in annoyance. What kind of a question was that?

"What're your thoughts about the Chancellor's multiple lovers and how that might impact his ability to lead?"

“What Chancellor does in his free time is of no interest to me unless it affects his work.”

“Do you think it affected his decision in attacking Denon?”

"Yes, Senator! What do you think about the Chancellor's actions on Denon?"

“But Senator Redrish!”

She raised her voice, just enough to quiet them so she could speak without being spoken over. “The other Senators of the New Republic and I will be addressing our concerns with the Chancellor himself, and I will not detract from due process to whet your appetites for gossip. No. Comment.”

As she turned to make her way inside, the media began clamoring so loudly she couldn't even make out the questions anymore, though one of them managed to shout over the others to ask her, "SENATOR REDRISH, DO YOU LIKE THE RAIN?"

Eumi turned, a genuine look of surprise on her face at the question. Was it a real question? Dumbfounded, she responded with an almost meek “Yes, I do...” before continuing into the Senate Chambers and to her assigned pod with Vilkinar.

Today was going to be a long day.

As his Midori bodyguard Venka shadowed his every step, Jin moved toward the Naboo palace, dressed in a patterned, silver-grey suit. He pretended not to see the flash of cameras, nor hear the cries of desperate reporters. Questions like, ‘How does Queen Leyti feel about the Sith?’ and ‘What is your stance on the Chancellor’s blockade of Denon?’ went largely ignored as Jin continued up the marble stairs into the Senate chambers. He nearly made it to the doors until someone shouted a question so dizzying, so outrageous, he stopped short in his tracks.

Senator Vaisra, rumors continue to circulate of Chancellor Ro’s growing harem. Some even suggest you among them. Do you have anything to say on this matter?

Jin paused for a long moment, then expelled a bitter laugh. Slowly, he turned to face the journalist, a bespectacled young woman who seemed to shrink under his eye, and said, “Chancellor Ro and I have only ever worked in a professional manner. We have not spoken personally to one another since the last assembly, and you would do well to remember that.” He refrained from adding a sly comment, knowing the tabloids would jump on him if he appeared too impassioned by the subject.

Which he wasn’t. Of course he wasn’t. Absolutely ridiculous.

Upon reaching the Senate chambers, he quickly spotted Sibyl, dressed as if she’d come to attend a funeral. Was it to mourn the future of the Chancellor’s political career, or the loss of her aide? Whatever the reason, Jin hardly cared. Despite his relationship with Emil, the Senator only looked out for the interests of Fondor, and while he was familiar with Tristodd, the boy was something of an idiot sandwich: cold, stale, and packed with rotting meat.

Emryc’s, probably.

Jin let out a sigh and, stepping into his pod, practically fell into his seat. He didn’t bother thumbing through the day’s agenda. He already had his mind decided.

Getting into the building was remarkably easy - the press seemed to be incredibly focused on senators for the New Republic and FWA, mostly because of the Chancellor's harem from what he could tell. Carrick was glad that he wasn't going to be asked any stupid questions about the love-life of someone he had never met because he was hardly in the right kind of mood to deal with much when it came to conversations about love-lives. His own was currently occupied by a stubborn Mandalorian who seemed both intent on getting herself killed and on fussing over protecting everyone she could.

It was cute and endearing most of the time but it was more concerning now that she had lost someone close to her. Because his thoughts were occupied with that, he straight up ignored the press when they tried to ask him questions - he would scold himself for not answering some of the more serious questions later but, for now, he didn't much care. Finding his seat, Carrick paused in mid-motion as he felt the room shake.

Felt the Force rumbling through on some low level that had him blink in mild confusion. There were some Jedi here, he guessed? He'd not seen any actually bother to attention the Galactic Senate meetings in some time but they had a right to send observers - maybe this time they actually had bothered to dirty themselves with politics enough to actually connect to the great Galaxy?

Somehow he doubted it.

Making himself comfortable, he poured himself a glass of water and idly concerned himself with tapping out instructions on his datapad - this session promised to be entertaining but he wasn't sure if he would actually be called upon to speak much if at all.

Flanked by his two Senatorial aides, Galek sauntered his way towards royal palace of Naboo – the location of this Galatic Senate session. While he didn't say it aloud, he was more than a little bit pleased that the proceeding were taking place on an ISC world, and while some of his colleagues were perturbed by the weather, Galek found himself right at home. Indupar was a wetter planet than most, after all. Standing out amongst the crowds, the prince was dressed in the regal style of his planet, donning an gold sherwani with a matching sash draped across his shoulder, accessorized with multiple rings on his fingers and a gemstone brooch on his breast.

Despite his best attempts to not pay any mind to the media, the reporters swarmed like hornets all around – lobbing question after question the moment he stepped off his shuttle. While he briefly considered completely ignoring them, Galek eventually sighed under his breath and brought himself to a halt. They would get a few answers out of him, it would seem.

“Governor Ordalos! Governor Ordalos! Is it true you recently commissioned Billie Bonheur to upgrade your wardrobe?”

Upgrade?

He cleared his throat, raising a brow. “Yes, I recently commissioned a piece from Ms. Bonheur. Next question.”

The woman continued. “Governor, what do you say to our viewers who accuse you of spending so many crowns on fashion, when there are so many refugees going without across—”

“Next question.” His voice was a bit more stern than before. He couldn’t help but wonder where this question was when the Senators of Kuat or Fondor strolled by. Or anyone else who wasn't currently organizing the largest refugee program in the galaxy.

“Governor Ordalos, do you find any of your senatorial colleagues in particular to be attractive, perhaps even Chancellor Ro? With the recent rumors of the Chancellor’s multiple lovers, our viewers at home are dying to know.”

Fuck your viewers.

“No,” He answered to the first question, swallowing his annoyance and burying it behind a smile. That was likely a lie, but Galek wasn’t going to give them any room to speculate. “And I have absolutely no interest in what the Chancellor does behind closed doors. As it so happens, I quite prefer to dominate Chancellor Ro in the senate chamber, not the bedroom.” With that, Galek turned back to the path ahead and vanished into the entrance of the palace.

Making his way into the Senate chamber, Galek approached his designated pod and plopped down into the comfortable seat. Reclining back, the prince poured himself a glass of something to drink and crossed his ankle over his knee. While usually slightly on edge during these sessions, the prince was markedly more relaxed than usual. A quick glance at the agenda for the evening – promising fireworks between the New Republic and FWA, rather than the ISC – likely had something to do with it.

The Speaker

- Agenda items are here
- Though Senate is now in session, anyone with a character within the NR/FWA/ISC may still join.

A pod would rise from the floor and center itself between the four pods designated for the faction leaders and the greater Senate. Within it stood the Speaker, a middle-aged woman who would be serving as the mediator for tonight's assembly. At her signal, the cameras drone would begin to circle the Senate chamber. One focused specifically on the Speaker as she began with the night's proceedings.

""All items on tonight's agenda have been transferred to your pods. Items will be addressed in order by a representing member of the sponsoring government. Once all items have been addressed, additional proposals may be brought to the floor.""

In the Speaker's right hand was a staff. After she finished, she hit the ground with it three times in succession, marking the beginning of the assembly.

"Senate is now in session. First order of business: The Free World's Alliance lodges a formal protest at the New Republics handling of the invasion of Denon.." Her eyes would shift to the FWA section, waiting for the representative responsible for the proposal to rise to make their argument.

Cal headed quickly into the Senate chamber, avoiding his peers and ignoring the chattering journalists as he did so. The Senator for Lothal had no intention of engaging in gossip when the work of State had yet to be completed. Indeed, it turned his stomach to see the great and the good, those with power, chattering when the galaxy was at war.

Quickly, he took his seat as the Speaker called for order and introduced the first motion, and with a deep breath, Cal stood and opened the debate.

"Speaker."

"Honourable Members of the Senate."

"We approach this motion today with a heavy heart, and I first wish to draw to mind those people who passed away in the recent attacks on Denon and Firrerro, both great tragedies of war, that could have been avoided."

For a few moments, Cal lowered his head and held his silence. The moments passed, as Cal silently prayed that nobody would break it, before he raised his head and resumed speaking.

"Yet, the benefit of a Democracy is that those in power are held in check by the people, that their actions must have consequences, and they must answer for what they have done in the people's name."

"We cannot summon the Sith here today."

"But we can summon the Chancellor of the New Republic, upon whose words a fire was unleashed on a Free World's Alliance Planet, illegally occupied by our enemies, the Sith Empire."

"Let me be clear - Denon, is a Free planet."

"It is not a world to added to the collection by a greedy Chancellor, not a jewel in the crown of a despotic Empress."

"It is a Free world, and it must always remain so."

"When the Chancellor ordered this attack, on a Free World Alliance planet, he ordered the murder of Denon civilians, and further expanded a conflict that is costing the lives of millions."

"You will hear the Chancellor claim that he 'is fighting the war when the FWA will not', but this excuse rings hollow, when they are said through the miasma of death, brought down upon the heads, of our people."

"I call for the Chancellor to be held accountable for his actions."

"I call for the New Republic to pay reparations to the people of Denon, and for the officer in command of the fleet over Denon to be dismissed, and tried for war crimes."

"Hostilities over Denon must end, and Diplomacy must resume."

"You may like to see yourself as an Emperor, Chancellor Ro, but you are just a man - and like all of us, you will not be afforded the long leash you desire, when the execution of the powers given to you by the people, sees the soil of Denon, drenched in the blood of the people I, and others here in this Senate, serve."

The day was already proceeding exactly as expected. Terribly. Emil had thought the water in his lap was going to be the icing on the cake, the dark marking spreading like a piss stain across the front of the brand new pants he'd purchased for this precise occasion. This incident was punctuated by the conspicuous way President Emryc Thorne looked away, unbothered and without comment, which cast him in a suspicious light, even though Emil hadn't seen the man move and had no proof he had done. Not to mention the lack of a motive.

But as bad as that was, Senator Starros was somehow worse. Emil had anticipated his bellyaching but somehow the Lothalite was even more self-important in person than he was on the HoloNet. Starros was the embodiment of everything Emil hated about the Galactic Senate. Grandstanding, bellicose speeches, and useless platitudes. And it wasn't about to get better. In fact, Emil was certain this session would only get worse.

Still, he stood. The galaxy had demanded a reply. He would give it one.

"Senator Starros," he began. "I thank you for the opportunity you have given me to address this august body and the galactic community. I am sorry to begin my response by simply stating that Denon is not a free world. It was not before the New Republic Navy arrived to punish its Sith occupants, and it won't be even if the Seventh Fleet retreats. I would ask your Prime Minister why it was that Denon has not yet been liberated, but," He punctuated his remark by looking to the Prime Minister's empty seat, "it seems they have elected not to join us on this important of all discussions."

"Furthermore, the reason we cannot call the Sith to answer for their actions is because the Sith are currently in the process of bombing Free World Alliance worlds one after another without a single act of retaliation—until I made the call, that is." He paused here, because the stain in his pants had now seeped through to the skin and he was keenly aware of the stares that must be on him all across the chamber. "It is regrettable that civilian lives were lost in the targeted bombing of military installations occupied by the Sith across Denon. But I wonder how many lives were lost when Denon was invaded? And I wonder further why the Free Worlds Alliance did not react as strongly then. Perhaps you do, Senator Starros. Would it not be kinder to free them of this tyranny? To restore their sovereignty as the Republic intends? No. Your government's response was to let them rot."

"The simple fact of the matter is this. Denon sits on the edge of Republic space and is a key entry point to our worlds. As Chancellor, my responsibility is to protect the Republic from enemies foreign and domestic. Were I to wait for the Sith to use Denon as a launching point, they could preform another Firrerre on my own people. Such inaction would be a gross neglect of my duties, egregious in its carelessness, and in ways only your Prime Ministers seems capable of doing. The attack at Denon let the Sith know that the Free Worlds Alliance does not stand alone. We will not let our allies be eaten by their rampant, terroristic expansionism. Likewise, it sent a message that the Republic will not sit on its hands and wait for their attack as the Alliance had."

At last, Emil softened his tone. It was a calculated gesture, meant to give the impression that he felt regret for his actions, which was the furthest thing from the truth. And one he was entirely certain would go unnoticed or ignored by this chamber of vultures; but it wouldn't be missed by the HoloNet cams. "When the Sith withdraw from Denon, the New Republic will gladly pay reparations and send all necessary aid to restore Denon to what it was before this unfortunate action needed to be taken. But it was necessary."

Now, he turned to the remainder of the Senate. "When I was elected, the inaction of my predecessor was the catalyst. His refusal threatened to leave the Republic as vulnerable as the Alliance now finds itself. You all have been asked here to judge me today, and I will accept whatever that judgement is. But I will never apologize for executing the duties I was elected to do: to defend the Republic, even if what is necessary to do so is deeply unpopular."

And with that, and a parched throat, he sat down.

Surprising as it might have been, considering her usual patient nature, it was the Senator of Kuat who spoke first after the Chancellor had had his say. She'd stood from her seat and approached her microphone long before she was able to speak, just after the Senator of Lothal began his speech in fact, and let her dark gaze fall on Senator Lassiter during the requested moment of silence as she considered how hard it must be for her being here – today – so soon after her aide's apparent demise.

Death seemed to be knocking on every door it could reach these days. And in quick succession.

With her hands clasping her datapad in front of her, the young Senator let her eyes fall on every representative in the room before focusing on the two that had spoken in turn. “Senator Starros, let me start by assuring you that we of the New Republic share your anger. We share the same horror and sorrow as every galactic citizen at the needless loss of so many innocent lives, both on Denon and on Firrerro. We too were blindsided by both the Sith and the Chancellor's actions.”

Her attention would then shift to the Senator Ro. “Your Excellency. You are correct that your election was a direct result of the inaction of your predecessor, but to attack any planet without consulting myself and the other Senators of the planets you serve steps well outside the boundaries of your position.” She paused then, lifting the datapad she held to read from the official 'book' regarding the responsibilities and limits the New Republic had placed on the Chancellor position when it was formed. “As Chancellor, you are meant to be the face of the New Republic. You lead us in that you are meant to be an example for us, keeping us united, active, and on task. You act as an officiator of parliamentary procedure. You organize legislative plans. You count and declare votes on domestic matters. You bring motions to the floor for a vote, call emergency sessions of the Senate, and you act as a tiebreaker when necessary. But.” She tapped the datapad against one hand. “Nowhere in this document does it state that you are in command of the Republic Fleet, nor does it state that you can act on behalf of the New Republic with total impunity. In fact, it very clearly states that you cannot act at all without a majority vote in your favor.”

She would pause to let her words settle in the ears of those who listened. “As deplorable as it may sound to you, if the Free Worlds Alliance does not want our assistance in safeguarding one of their planets, it is not your place nor ours to force it on them. We are not the galaxy police.”

That turn of phrase was given to her specifically by the Principal Director of Kuat, and although Eumi thought it sounded childish, she had no choice but to use it.

“Yes, Denon sits on the edge of Republic space. Yes, it is possible the Sith could have used it as a launching point to attack a New Republic world. They could also be attacking one right now, as they seem to have the ability to appear out of nowhere – as they did when they attacked Firrerro. But the fact remains that Denon is not a Republic world. It is not under your or our jurisdiction, and therefore its liberation should have been a cooperative effort between the Free Worlds Alliance and the New Republic. You should have brought it to the floor today, Your Excellency. You should have let it be voted on by the honorable Senators and Governors that represent the many worlds of this Galaxy. Instead, you've overstepped your position in more ways than one, and you have brought us all to the brink of war with your ill-considered actions – as well-meaning as they may have been.”

She took a breath before concluding her speech. “In closing, I would like to remind those in attendance that, as it was stated and agreed upon by the majority in our last session, the Galactic Senate has no authority to vote on the punishment of an individual member or members of the New Republic.” She turned her gaze on Senator Starros again, her expression stern. “But I can assure you, and the Free World Alliance, that Chancellor Ro will be held accountable for his actions. Those who followed his unlawful orders will do the same.”

With that being said, and with little else needing to be said, the Senator of Kuat turned off her microphone and moved back to settle into her seat, replaying all the words she'd just said in her head and hoping they'd come out right. Her chocolate skin was touched by a sudden flash of heat, remnants of the anxiety she'd felt but tried to hide from the other representatives as she delivered her speech. She was not used to this, to speaking first, to being so aggressive, but it was made very clear to her that those who ruled Kuat did not want a war between the FWA and the New Republic. They wanted trade open, because that was what was good for business.

And Eumi was a good little puppet.

As Flauki sat back in his seat, all he would hear is "waaahhh my planet" "waaah our planet" "waaahhh Sith bad" and it was absolutely dreadful. Almost ruined his mimosas even. The Governor of Vendaxa may not be the most important individual at the meeting but he had the urge to just tell everyone how it is. Ho.. Ro, did a bad move. FWA did a scared move. Sith well they did the Sith move. Denon wasn't ISC territory, so really the ISC had little busy being here, aside from being a part of the Galactic Senate. Their votes were all that was really needed in this meeting. As far as Flauki was tracking, the ISC had no agendas to be brought up.

Flauki had been listening to the whining over Denon, as he watched his stocks on the data pad. Majority of them were doing great, except for one in particular. GameGo. It had dropped a lot, now Flauki had lost a big deal of money. He noticed this as he was sipping his mimosa and immediately choked in terror. Once he finally downed the drink he stood up glaring at the data pad and would harshly say

"This is outrageous!"

Oh no.. he looked around and seen all of the Senators and the boss dogs up front. Now he needed to recover.

"Heh, You can't expect for this to fully matter can you? As much as personal feelings want to influence this matter, I will give my professional opinion. Chancellor Ro may not have spoken to his the FWA Senators or even his own for that matter, but I wouldn't say all of what he did was wrong. He targeted the Sith military installations on the planet. Meaning his attacks were on the Sith. If he were to attack FWA civilians, I am sure he would have targeted all of the cities or even gone as far as to glass Denon, as the Sith did to Firrerre."

"I may not condone the actions he took but as he stated the FWA had ample time to recover their planet or attempt to, and Chancellor Ro had only done what he knew needed to be done. Was it the right way? No, absolutley not. But ask yourself was it the right thing? That's a deeper question you need to think on. My vote goes where my President votes, but that is just my opinion, thank you everyone for your ears."

Flauki would give a quick wave as he smiled to the group of Senators and the Speaker. Then he sat back down and turned his data pad off. That was enough stocks for today. One mimosa down, two to go. Naboo really knew how to make a good drink.

As much as Emryc wanted nothing more than to watch Ro get torn to shreds while standing there appearing as if he soiled himself, this was getting tedious very quickly. The half Sephi exhaled softly as he pulled up his comms, going right to Morgan’s number out of complete habit. A pang shot through his chest as he did so, the reality of everything crashing into him once again. His jaw tightened slightly as he closed out of that message dialogue, briefly scanning over others that had attempted to reach him for some time now.

His keen ears remained focused on the discussions happening around him. He noted that the Senator of Kuat spoke up far more vocally, and she clearly did her homework this time unlike when she presented a half baked and silly concept before. Emryc’s gaze briefly flicked up to her before he glanced back down at his messages. He kept scrolling idly till he spotted one from Jaikus. The sight of it softened the half Sephi’s features, his gaze lingering on the lighthearted meme. He knew the man was likely watching this session and he decided to send him something back after having been silent for some time. Emryc was just about to hit send when he heard Flauki speak up.

His eyes shifted up to rest on the man that almost rudely interjected, the gold mottled silvers narrowing as his hawk-like gaze fixed on him. Emryc put his comm away, letting the stern look on his face linger for Flauki to see before he looked around at the other ISC members. He scanned over them to see if anyone else had any unwanted commentary to add. Thankfully a glance at Ordalos’ face suggested the man was equally bemused by the interjection.

“Thank you for your illuminating opinions, Governor Ubbeson, but I fear they are largely unnecessary here,” His baritone cut in icily before he glanced over to Starros.

“Is there a reason the Free World Alliance chose to bring this up in the Galactic Senate session instead of addressing it with the New Republic directly to have them hold the Chancellor accountable in their own senate?” Emryc next looked over to the Speaker, “This agenda item is a complete waste of time as there is nothing to vote on from us as a collective and it doesn’t concern anyone but the New Republic and the Free World Alliance. I move that we shift to the next topic and let the two bodies of government hash it out on their own time.”

Even with the happiness that she was feeling at the moment, Sibyl needed to recognize that this Senate session was being boring.

The Galactic Senate would never be able to accept Senator Cal Starros' proposal. It had no legal power to force Chancellor Ro to be punished for his actions. It was probably an attempt of the FWA to pay themselves as victims.

After Senator Eumi Redrishi finished her speech, the Brentaalan woman totally agreed with her. Sibyl greatest problem with Emil Ro wasn't that he attacked Denon, the Sith expansion needed to be stopped. Her problem was that he made this attack without talking with the other Senators. The Chancellor Ro needed to explain that before the New Republic Senate.

Sibyl laughed after hearing Governor Ubbeson basically say he was a slave to President Thorne's will. Thankfully her veil hide her face. She wondered how someone could be so stupid like Flauki to reveal this in the middle of a public assembly.

After Emryc finished his speech, Sibyl rose from her seat and activated the microphone. "I agree with both Senator Redrishi and President Thorne. Chancellor Ro must answer for what he did, but it must be in front of the New Republic Senate, the governing body that he represents." she said, simulating the voice of someone who was crying. After all she needed to show her grief for Tristodd's death. "I propose to my colleagues of the New Republic that as soon as this assembly ends, we meet in Coruscant where the Chancellor will need to explain his actions." she finished faking a sob. "I'm sorry." she muttered while returning to her seat.

While everyone would think that she was crying, Sibyl would have a large smile hide behind her black veil. At least in his death Tristodd was useful for something.

Oh the Invasion of Denon... that was an item that Carrick didn't really have a stake in personally but it was an item that was going to have some repercussions for relations between the New Republic and the FWA if not handled properly. For that reason alone he was paying attention even if he wasn't that personally invested. Starros was the member of the senate bringing it up so he made the effort to appear as though he was paying full attention for the sake of his relationship with the senator.

Carrick ran a hand through his hair slightly he listened as the Chancellor tried to defend his actions before the senator for Kuat decided to stand against him. He raised an eyebrow at Flauki's outburst before eyeing his drink and chuckling a little bit to himself. If that was the result of bringing in alcohol he was glad he hadn't decided to have a tickle himself, even if the session didn't currently seem like it called for much participation on the part of the ISC representatives.

Personally?

Chancellor Ro answering to his own people for shooting at citizens of the FWA was... dumb. It should have been argued between the Republic and the FWA because they were the ones involved - even if the ISC and the whole Galactic Senate weren't really involved. Giving the Republic total control over the proceedings was the height of irrationality, trusting them to punish a man for actions against another and depriving the aggrieved party the chance to speak?

Sounded like trouble to him and he was absolutely fine with that because it was absolutely no trouble for him. He made a point of not bringing this up to anyone, instead focusing back on his datapad.

As the other speeches were made, Cal felt the tone of the floor shifting, and upon hearing the suggestion from President Thorne (@Sreeya) he stood and, as the last speaker (@LouJoVi) drew their remarks to an end, he stood.

"Speaker"

"I believe the remarks of the Chancellor need to be addressed, as the mover of this motion, I resume the floor to do so. Let me be exceptionally clear about one point - Denon is a member of the Free World's Alliance. Under illegal occupation by the Sith Empire. I will not allow the Chancellors willful ignorance of that fact to go unchallenged in this Chamber, where the sovereignty of a member state of the FWA has been openly, and brazenly, called into question."

"Whilst the Chancellor clearly relishes in the deaths of our people, I do not, and nor do I believe that this matter can simply be moved to a footnote in the proceedings of this Senate."

"The Chancellor has brazenly committed a war crime, ordering, without the consent of their legislature, an attack, which has led to the deaths of civilians, citizens of another member of this body. In doing so the Chancellors actions have become an issue for this body to address."

"Chancellor - you are a murderer, and the blood of our people is caked on your hands."

"You will order your fleet to withdraw from Denon at once, and I beg to move that this Senate put to a vote, that we find the Chancellor in contempt of this Senate, and as representatives of the Galactic community, we condemn and repudiate his actions."

"Whilst I appreciate the words of Representative Redrish, and welcome the suggestion that the New Republic will ensure the Chancellor answers for their actions, I must say, it is not enough. What has been done by the Chancellor, and in the New Republics name, is tantamount to an attack on the Free World's Alliance, by the New Republic - and that issue must be resolved by the Galactic Senate."

"Mediating such disputes is why we are here."

"As far as Representative Ubbesons contributions - if one can honour their outburst with such a term - I would encourage them to look at it a different way. If your world was invaded by the Sith Empire, and then the New Republic rocked up and bombarded it from orbit - perhaps you might express concern? Especially when - as a member of the Consortium, your continued place within that body was put into question, by the invading fleet, bearing a foreign flag, that claimed to be 'liberating' you on behalf of the New Republic?"

"The same extends to President Thorne."

"For reasons I have already outlined, this agenda item is not a 'complete waste of time'. We must settle this as a Senate, as a Galactic Community - that is the entire point of this body."

"Speaker - I object to the suggestion by President Thorne, and ask that this agenda item be debated, and a resolution reached."

"Despite what many here think, including, regretable, Senator Lassiter, we are not an autocracy. The concerns of the Free World's Alliance shall not be brushed aside and ignored, by a Chancellor who believes themselves above the people, beyond reproach, and hides from scrutiny."

"Speaker - Members of the Senate - we must have a resolution. The Senate must take action, and condemn this Chancellor, requiring a withdrawal from Denon, and the immediate payment of reparations to the people of Denon. What the New Republic does regarding the Chancellors overstep beyond that, is of little concern to me."
