The SWRP Comic Thread

Hello everyone! So, @Aurius Pheonix is taking a little bit of a break from the site due to his own circumstances. For those of you who don't know, we've been working together on a 3D modeled comic series that has gone through quite a few changes since he originally started the idea. He's still helping me out, but until he comes back, I'm basically heading the comic making process now.

I want to make this thread to share with you some of the art I've thrown together with the models and assets, based on threads and such. It should also serve to show you the progress on the comic. We've rewritten the first issue quite a lot, trying to squeeze as much narration into a comic strip panel is just not possible, so we had to scrap our original "Non-site-canon" idea for an intro. Instead, we'll be using elements from the threads Surprise Attack on Telos! and World of Tommorrow for the first issue. If you don't know what those threads are, don't worry, you'll see comic versions of them up soon.

If you or your characters where participants in those threads and DON'T want your character or writing translated into a comic, please let me know by messaging here or on Discord. This is completely for fun, but we'd rather have your permission. If your character is vital to the thread and can't be shown on page, we will have a stand-in replacement made for that character in all further comic issues.

Without further ado, some comic gold and a little teaser for some of the progress we made after the rewrite.

I have all those models and some, they will still be used. My biggest thing is staying true to site canon, so I had to tweak the scripts. Characters will appear as they do in the threads.

I will give a free update though. If I decide to bust my rear end, I can get a page or two done a night, I'll be honest I've been on hiatus for quite a bit because of work/posts.

Issues don't have a set length or anything either. The first script is smashing two threads together and telling two stories at once, so it may be short and end on a cliffhanger.

We're still using that :). The intro thing he showed you and all that is still in the first issue.

Issue #1: Begins with Andraste's speech, then skips backwards. Almost a "And this is what happened before that scene" situation. Follows a portion of the invasion of

Issue #2: Will continue where Issue #1 left off, continuing the thread of showing some moments that are happening in the Timeline right now, then skipping backwards to give some Sith Backstory, why they are invading Telos, and who sent them.
Issue #3: Will be focusing on the Jedi Council, their rise, and their losses. TBA.

By the end of the 5th issue the timeline fleshes itself out an can start relying on only present threads, with some backstory to fill that stuff in. Before we actually see any panels with an Empress Andraste and her Council, I want to explore how Alais became the Empress, what was and was not done to stop her, and how her allies rose to power.

This comic isn't going to really have a main character, think of it as a Clone Wars style thing where it jumps around between multiple self contained stories, and sometimes if I can get the rest of them on board, we can do huge issues covering events and Main Plots that span multiple issues. Almost everything Aurius has done is still in this, but the first issue has changed from being an Aliyah origin story to almost a shock factor, throwing the reader directly into the action and filling in the gaps as we go along.

Though, for writing purposes, we really are laying it on thick that the Sith Empire is the big bad, and Alais almost has an OT Emperor like vibe about her. Not really knowing who, or what, she is... only that she is an Empress, and that her powers are to be feared. I want to reserve that for at least the first issue.
