In recent news, ISC President Emryc Thorne and his husband, Jaikus Altairs, have been spotted wearing wedding bands, and have since announced their marriage. The latter of the two has taken Emryc’s last name and has since been declared the First Gentleman of the ISC. Images of their wedding rings are circulating online,
Social media is ablaze with chatter and speculation, and the hashtag #emjai and #thornetohisrose has begun trending regarding Emyrc Thorne’s new husband. Specifically, Jaikus is the thorn to Emyrc’s rose.
From the “I <3 You Emryc Thorne” fan club, reactions are mixed. There seems to be an abundance of mourning, but additionally it appears that a large portion of the fanbase is rallying around the married couple and integrating Jaikus Thorne into their fangirling. There has been an explosion of new fan art hitting the HoloNet, and artists are scrambling to open commissions to take advantage of the wave of requests!
A mysterious person has begun crowdfunding to purchase the newly wed couple a wedding present (Let’s Get the Thorne’s the Best Wedding Gift Ever), and the ThorneWatch app has already announced the decision to add additional features to the app to include Jaikus Thorne sightings as well. This has again been met with controversy, but because the app is based out of ISC space, it has continued to avoid legal troubles thus far.
At the moment, there is no information on whether a formal ceremony will be hosted for the public. It is believed that the two eloped in private or at a private ceremony away from the public eye. This has warranted criticism from some members of the community, who believe the president “should not keep secrets from his loyal followers.” This has been met with criticism itself from other members of the community, who believe the president is entitled to some privacy of his own.
The Thorne Watch has reached out to the president in hope he might comment on whether or not he and his new husband plan to have children.
