The Training of Shao'andre Oedryak

Making himself secure in the Force and clearing himself of any emotions that would allow the Dark Side to tempt him as he escaped, Shao exited the cave, nearly collapsing from the mental exhaustion of his ordeal.

 

[Malon]

Nimm waited for him at the end of the cave. At first, the Jedi Knight said nothing; merely observing his apprentice's condition and studying the fluctuations of the Force around him.

"The Force is indeed strong with you. What have you learned within the cave?" Nimm asked; an unusual tone of seriousness in his voice.

Raising an eyebrow at the tone, Shao decided that Nimm wasn't as flippant as he seemed, when it came to serious matters. He was silent for a second, then answered in an equally grave tone. "In that cave... I learned why Jedi are not allowed to dwell on the past."

 

[Malon]

Nimm took no time cracking a smile. He wondered what Shao had seen in the cave.

"Dwelling on the past isn't good for a Jedi, but never forget that we can learn from it. Your past is what has made you who you are, but do not enslave yourself to it. Do you understand?"

 

[Thepantheon]

Shao nodded solemnly. "I wouldn't have if I hadn't gone into that cave, but now I think I do. I'll never forget it, but it holds nothing over me now."

 

[Malon]

Nimm was satisfied, so he drew his lightsaber, ignited it and placed the blade over Shao's right shoulder; a traditional Knighting posture.

"Congratulations, I now deem you a Knight of the Jedi Order." he said with great excitement and joy in his voice.
