The Bastard

Name: Kyvon Kane
Age: 21 years
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 210 Ilbs
Home Planet: Serenno
Race: Human
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Faction: Jedi Order
Appearance: Kyvon stands tall at six feet four inches, hovering well above most others he comes across. Caring for his bodies overall fitness and watching what he eats has helped his body in the obvious ways. Someone might note the similarities between Kyvon and a long distance runner, lean, muscular and athletic. He is young and still retains some of that boyish look in his stormy grey eyes. A look he often tries to hide under thick, dark facial hair, which adds a few deceiving years to his age.

Kyvon has been largely left untouched by the war physically. Having never been in a life and death battle he has no scars or burns that litter his body or tell a grand story. The only thing he has to identify him from another is his birthmark, a fiery red slap of skin seemingly inked on his lower back. Few know of this mark, mainly his distant trueborn family and his closest friends. He likes it this way because that is to be his only link to Seranno and his family which lives there. A family he has mixed emotions about anyway.

Personality: Kyvon has spent most of his life being looked down upon. He's a bastard, a labeled and ridiculed force sensitive, too old to train and to inexperienced to lead. Kyvon is doubted by most, this much is true. Due to this Kyvon has adopted an angry outlook on the world. He feels it's him against everything else, that he has something to prove to others. This motivation to make people eat their own words has gotten him in trouble time and time again.

He's quick to set off, opinionated and well versed in snarky and condescending remarks. Kyvon isn't one go forget an insult, no matter how innocent or irrefutable and finds pleasure in proving people wrong. He's guarded in the sense that he doesn't like speaking about personal matters to strangers. In a small way Kyvon's perceived needs to prove people wrong can also be seen as a desire for approval.

Kyvon has been treated like a black sheep his whole life. What he wants more than anything is to find somewhere he belongs, with people who want him there. Friends are hard to come by, but they're not so hard to say goodbye to. Kyvon has many walls layered behind a smile, but keeps it there out of fear. Not from anyone else, no, but himself because in all actuality Kyvon has always felt alone.

Background: Kyvon was born into a well established royal house on Seranno. It was of low ranking, coming from long, humble roots but it was no pushover. The Kane family had been close allies to the great House Nalju. A family which seemed to lose much when relationships between the Jedi and Republic dwindled. Due to this, House Kane was impacted with the strong ripples of House Nalju's shortcomings. Kyvon's family house staggered, stumbled but it never fell.

His father was a brilliant man and managed to keep the House alive through investing in local agriculture gains. It was a simple, honest way to make money and although it wasn't a fortune it kept the roof over Kyvon's head and the power firmly within House Kane. His family was a large one although complicated, it consisted of his three baby sisters, mother, father and a slew of cousins and distant relatives. The complication arose with Kyvon himself, although the eldest in line to head the House, Kyvon was a bastard. Therefore his claim to the house was tarnished by his blood, having come from the same mother as his siblings but sharing a different father.

Kyvon was born with ink black hair, a stark contrast to his supposed fathers blonde locks and even his mothers red hair. These details came accompanied with rumors around court; which only solidified when Kyvon was found out to be sensitive to the force at a young age. Kyvon's force sensitivity was met with open backlash against Kyvon's motherboards. The fact that no Kane, in such a long and well recorded history, had ever been force sensitive. This scandal nearly tore the family apart when all secrets eventually came to light. And although Ky's mother admitted he was a bastard she never shared the name of the man who stained her honor and sired her bastard son.

Due to all this Kyvon was raised a distant outcast of his family. His father, for all intents and purposes, would never open up to him or allow Kyvon into his heart. He provided for him, this is true, but only the base things Ky needed to live on. Kyvon wasn't allowed to sit at the family table during dinner. Nor was he allowed to attend matters of political importance with his father. Anytime the family held an event for it's people Kyvon was kept away from his other siblings. It was no secret, none wanted to be seen with the bastard child of House Kane.

This was made worse when Kyvon was forced to wear a badge by the authority of Serennan law, branding him sensitive to the force. The people of Seranno had a bitter taste in their mouths when it came to all things Jedi or Exile. It didn't help him either that his father already viewed him as a nuisance to his families honor. This was the privileged life of an aristocratic bastard. Kyvon knew he didn't belong, nor was he wanted, yet he felt stuck all the same.

That is until Kyvon's father brought him to meet a man named Darun. The rumors of the bastard force sensitive child from House Kane spread far and wide. It seemed they even managed to catch the ear of a Jedi, with the aid of Kyvon's father. All of this was done in secret both due to the strict Serennan law against Jedi, and Kyvon's father wanted it to be dealt with privately. His mother wasn't in attendance with him in those final moments before he left Seranno, Kyvon suspects that was the intention. Although he'd miss his mother and sisters Kyvon wanted nothing more than to escape his life at home. Before he left however his father gave him one thing, the only thing he'd ever freely given him any time, that was his family name Kane.

Darun and Kyvon left Seranno soon after the decision was made. Kyvon was young, only sixteen, but that was an old age to train a Jedi. Some within the Jedi Order would say it was to old to train someone but Kyvon was reassured by his Jedi mentor that the council would see reason. With the Exiles looming around the Jedi were in to dire of a need to be so strict with standardized training procedures. Thus Kyvon was taken to Jedha and it was there he'd be presented before a council. Most had doubts but with Darun's word Ky was eventually accepted into the ranks of the Jedi Order. He spent most of his apprenticeship following his mentor Darun, travelling from place to place, soaking up the information that seemed to bleed from his mentors presence.

Darun was a rough, strict, mentor who could make you feel two inches tall if one made a mistake. He claimed he'd have to be, Kyvon had to learn things that most others were taught since before they could walk. To make up for that disadvantage Kyvon was taxed, tried and tested at nearly everything he did by Darun. Which was almost always not good enough for the old man. That being said Kyvon was eventually knighted and branded a full member of the Jedi Order. Which came with it's perks but it was no far leap for Ky.

Darun went his own separate way having completed his task of training Kyvon. Darun being out of personal contact for over a year with no word. This loss of contact with each other was hard at first but with time Kyvon worked through it. He knows Darun is alive and well, being able to feel him through the force, and is okay with just that. However with Darun being gone Kyvon's hunger for action leads much to the unknown. Since being a Knight the most Kyvon's done is simple humanitarian aid, maintaining a sense of security in Jedi friendly worlds, accompanying trade vessels for protection and other such things. Nothing that, to Kyvon, feels like he's making a direct impact on the war.

This will to fight the Sith head on was only strengthend when he heard of Andraste taking over his home world of Seranno. With no word from his family his fear of their safety is only made deeper. For now though he must simply wait for orders, or an opportunity.
