The Zann Conundrum
As many of you know, I play the character @Grace Zann who leads the Zann Consortium. The faction is a revival of the classic one from Empire at War: Force of corruption. I am here to bring both good and bad news. @Grace Zann has reached the Rank of Crime Lord, meaning the ZC is ascending in power and renown as well. The next logical step would be to achieve the rank of Syndicate Boss, furthering the reach of our syndicate.

While I originally had the idea for us to become a sixth major syndicate, the idea was pretty much shut down. I was informed that the Zann Consortium will have to take out another major syndicate to achieve such a level of power. This brings me to where we are now.

I have made this thread to see which of these three factions we should attempt to replace. I have left the Pykes and Hutts out of this poll, as they both have a large degree of activity. I leave the decision up to the digression of the people.

As a side note and question. Of these three factions, which one would be the easiest to take over from a logical standpoint? I appreciate your answers and votes.

(You may not change your vote after it is cast, so do choose with caution. Voting will end on April 27th.)

Black Sun.

The Zann Consortium is seriously just Black Sun but without Falleen leaders (as far as I'm aware). The Consortium works as mercenaries, pirates, and even a business, albeit a very a shady one. Go read the description for Black Sun and then read the one for the Zann Consortium- you'll see the similarities. Also, with Mordeth lording over Ord Mantell, Black Sun doesn't have an HQ. They're scattered and scared and it'll be easy to overwhelm them. Also, they're rivals with the Pykes, and I'd rather have the big 5 stay in good kahoots with one another.

Crymorah is still necessary for the Syndicates regardless of the Zaa Fenn Crime Family because they're the spies and hackers.

Crimson Dawn is still necessary because they're Crimson Dawn lmao.

Yea, I voted crymorah because of history alone. Black Sun is well known through the centuries of Canon, and Crymorah
Is not

I agree it would make sense from a story stand point to dismantle the Crymorah, as their actions nearly crippled the entire 5 Syndicates faction. Also a point @Charles made, two of the the Crymorah's three HQ planet's belong to other factions and their third planet for some reason doesn't belong to anyone?

The black sun doesn't explicitly interest me, but they do have spies and are "Influential in every governmental body in the galaxy.." which could be useful, but like I said, typically uninterested in them.

Although, as seen with the Pykes, each Syndicate is what it's active players make of it. So it's hard to evaluate a Syndicate based on its Canon information, since here the players can take each one in their own unique direction, as that is the heart of what SWRP is for.

Edit: Also I support keeping the Crimson Dawn as like it's been stated it has a dear place in many hearts given the attention it's gotten.

I agree with replacing Crymorah simply because I believe I am the only player left with a Crymorah- affiliated PC. That being said, I would love to have her switch syndicates so she stays in the 5S, so perhaps we could work that out.

Alright, so I decided to make a pros and cons list of each here.

Pros and Cons: to replace the Crymorah Syndicate

+The Crymorah Syndicate had ties to Zaa Fenn, who are banned from the Five Syndicates.
+Other Syndicates would be more willing to help the Zann Consortium, and accept their rise to power if they took on the Crymorah Syndicate, due to the association with Zaa Fenn.
+The Crymorah have less representation in Cannon then any of the other syndicates.
+The name "Crymorah Syndicate" is not catchy.

-There seems to be more player interest in creating new characters for this faction than Black Sun.
-As Charles stated, they do hold a niche as Hackers and Spies .

Pros and Cons: to replace Black Sun

+It would make sense from a Legends lore perspective, as historically the Zann Consortium had bad relations with Black Sun.
+As Charles mentioned, they do have a very similar vibe to the Zann Consortium.
+Black Sun is rarely played on site.

-Black Sun has a large degree of cannon/legends representation.
-The name "Black Sun" is far cooler and more flashy. (I also personally like their style/vibe)
-Attacking Black Sun would require a larger degree of justification for the Zann Consortium's rise to power. As the other syndicates would view us as the aggressor, unlike attacking the Crymorah which could be more easily justified.

I would like to clarify however. The Zann Consortium, or my version of them, are primarily Illegal arms/tech dealers. Black Markets are their specialty, but they also partake in piracy and racketeering.

@Charles

So the Black Sun are mostly known for their spy network and influence within vast numbers of governing parties throughout the galaxy. And the Crymorah also have a vast spy network and hackers. Honestly, I like the influence that the Black Sun have in governing bodies far more then Crymorahs hackers.....

As @Mad Dog has stated, every Syndicate is what we make of it. The Pykes are no longer defined just as a Spice running syndicate, they have ties to piracy, blackmarkets, planetary over throws, slaving, hacking, intimidation, and the list continues.... The same for the Zann Consortium...

Each Syndicate is what we, as the PC's, make it. It makes more sense to eliminate the Crymorah who have less to offer to the 5S, then the Black Sun, who's influence can still carry some weight. Not to mention, Crymorahs sole PC is now switching to another syndicate.

@Xol is an EX-Zaa Fenn member. He works for the hutts now. You don’t have to get rid of an entire syndicate just so you can change allegiance. That’s a petty argument.

EDIT: But, I can see everyone else’s points. Just saying tho, if we decide to execute Gareth- I get dibs.

EDIT: Sorry if this came off the wrong way, I don’t mean anything against other Crymorah players. My phrasing was weird so I take responsibility for that. The gist of my message was don’t keep the syndicate just for my sake :)

Alright, I see what’s going on.

Seeing as Xol is probably the most active Ex-member of the Crymorah Syndicate, I’ll make a mission pack that involves cleaning the Crymorah Syndicate. Zaa Fenn is pretty much disbanded but there’s still a few other families we can hunt down. There’s a few spots related to Zaa Fenn we could crash and take over as well (like the Quick-Draw Cantina and the warehouse filled with Preef Callo’s droid army).

Let me know if you got suggestions or questions.

Today is the last day of voting, but it does seem Crymorah is getting the boot. The other syndicates and I are actually discussing such a mission pack. But due to the large number of threads we're in, it may take some time.

I am officially declaring this poll closed. With 63% of the vote, the die has been cast, and the Crymorah shall face the Wrath of Zann.

Thank you all for participating.
