Tufty, swept back blonde hair adorn the face of this young travelling Vahla. Born on the remote planet of Rhen Var to a medium sized settlement colony aptly called "New Vahla", Murtagh was raised alongside his brother and sister during the rising of the newest breed of Jedi. Their parents openly taught the trio about the Force and it's mysteries, but also warned them of it's possibly dark implications should you stray too far. Being Vahla, all were naturally force attuned, though due to cross-breeding the strengths differed greatly.

Of the trio, Murtagh seemed to be the most proficient in Force application, whereas his brother was more skilled in understanding the meanings of the Force. Their sister was unfortunately not as gifted as either of them naturally. Over time Murtagh matured, as did his skills in both his mystic arts and in general trades, finding work as a armorer and mechanic in his down time. Unlike some of the neighboring families, the Tempests did not have a strict isolationist policy - and where more than happy when Murtagh and his brother Himura where offered training by a Knight who had happened upon them.

From that day forward the pair where taken to a Jedi Temple on Ajan Kloss. There they where respectively trained in the Jedi Arts, honing their skills and culminating in the creation of a lightsaber. Murtagh's own blade color turned into a light cyan, befitting his proficiencies as a Jedi Padawan. Under the tutelage of a variety of Knights, Murtagh was able to pass his trials and ascend to the rank of Jedi Knight in his own. Following that, he decided to return home temporarily to visit his parents. Though the visit was pleasant, it was cut short upon the discovery that off-worlders had become trapped in a cavern system connected to an underground complex. The complex also contained numerous Vahla and Humans, many of which Murtagh knew personally. In an attempt to get them out, Murtagh lifted the debris with the Force, or enough of it that he could get through. Only to find the Pyke Syndicate to be the off-worlders, having been they who had caused the collapse in the first place, during a tussle with the guards therein. Since the guards had retreated to fortify their position, Murtagh was fighting alone.

The resulting battle caused a laceration across his leg, multiple minor wounds, and the loss of his right eye.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Murtagh is cocky and boisterous. Some might even call him charismatic, in a certain sense, always going on about something or other. He is at ease in conversation with almost anyone, and prefers to be amiable to those he meets. As is typical to him but atypical to Jedi and Vahla alike, he is quick to trust and befriend those he works with. He has a strong sense of preservation, preferring to protect life and avoid taking it if possible, however he will kill if necessary. Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, Murtagh is often found to be reliant for hard tasks.

Being of the belief that mind and body are one and the same, Murtagh is physically fit and prefers to remain that way. In his mind, he should not have to rely on the Force, but rather use it to boost his own abilities in its service. To that end, Murtagh is not very spiritual but follows the Will of the Force avidly. He is also a rather good artist and musician, playing an antique hand-me-down but well-kept hallisket, and singing from an equal and ancient songbook.

Lastly, Murtagh loves electronics and high speeds. Those two interests mix almost eerily well with his boisterousness, lending to an almost adrenaline junky flier. He adores starship, speeders, and anything in-between. His artisanship and creativity were one of the causes his lightsaber took so long to craft. When time allows, Murtagh will commonly serve as a mechanic and has the aspirations to become the Jedi Order's Lightsaber Architect.

Since he was twelve years old, Kanos has known Death. He knew it because he dealt it, he knew it because he feared it, he knew it because it gave him a sense of purpose. Rhen Var was never known to be a hospitable place, but he was a native to the planet. The settlement from where he hailed from happened to house the majority of his kind. His own family, who had since turned his back on him, still lived there.

When he was a young boy, a fleet of ships arrived on Rhen Var that caused upheaval and conflict. By the time he was old enough to fight, he too was embroiled in the conflict. He lost his older brother in one of the earliest battles, as the pair fought to pass control onto the Sith Eternal. In Kanos' eyes, the Sith would be able to protect the settlement from any would-be attackers. By the time the fleet was preparing to leave, and the conflict had all but ended, Kanos decided to join the Eternal formally and left alongside them.

He found his place easily enough. After all, he was Vahla, and they where naturally attuned to the Dark Side of the Force. Kanos served the Sith Eternal loyally, coming to fully accept their ideologies as his own.

Having been raised to believe that righteousness and self-sacrifice where necessary to a Vahla, he was wholeheartedly pleased to find that his ambitions where no detriment among his new allies. Unlike some of his peers, he had no interest in allowing the Dark Side to control him, instead focusing his studies on how to manipulate and gain power from it.

As with some members of the revolutionaries, and members or admirers of the Knights of Ren and Sith of old, Kanos is enshrouded in dark robing, with a white and crimson mask stylized after the Eternal’s own, with added inspiration from ancient Sith statues.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Kanos, in usual situations, in calm but conversational. He is used to the casual conversation of day to day travel and official business, being quite charismatic, and able to charm most anyone. He had the uncanny ability to soothe or terrify those who listen to him with the tone of his voice, which has no unnatural qualities to it. Simply, when he goes from soothing to angry, it is usually abrupt.

Kanos has an abnormally long fuse, but once that fuse is blown he can rage and seethe with anger, or simply explode all at once. In combat, he is cold and calculating, waiting for his opponent to make a mistake and taking advantage of it. He is fiercely loyal to the Eternal, and takes pride in his strength within the Force, working to further the faction’s agenda while carving out a legacy of his own in his small way.

It cannot be said, however, that he is not generous. His allies are usually treated quite highly by himself, and he is usually courteous to worthy adversaries. Kanos is rarely merciful, however that does not mean he is unduly cruel. He will end a life swiftly, and without remorse, instead of promoting suffering. He likewise dislikes extreme punishment for anything short of brazen treason, and takes to treating anyone under or above him the same - with respect, unless they act in a manner that changes his view of them.

It is very rare to see Kanos without his helmet on. On those rare occasions, it is usually commented that he has striking, angular features befitting his mannerisms.

Frigid Precision - Kanos is an admittedly intimidating lightsaber duelist, having mastered Form I and being adept in the styles of Form V and Form VII respectively.

Cloak of Despair - Kanos is an intimidating figure to enemies and unexpecting allies all the same. His very presence can exude an aura of fear that makes surrounds his every step.

Touching The Shadow - Kanos is deeply attuned to the Dark Side of the Force, focusing on furthering his knowledge and power. He is a adept Force User capable of devastating attacks.

1. What is going to happen in your plot?

We've received word from the Chandrilans that some cultists have broken into an ancient tomb that is supposedly the burial site of a Jedi Knight. They have allegedly barricaded themselves within, attacking anyone who comes nearby, and occasionally striking out at the nearby populace. However, it's not clear if it's really a cult or if the locals are just being raided by run-of-the-mill pirates. A team of Jedi will travel to Chandrila and determine the truth, and from there determine whether intervention is necessary.

2. What other players will be a part of this?
Various Jedi.

3. Where are all the places (if more than one) that your plot will be taking place?
Chandrila

4. Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen.

3-4 threads depending on participation which might include:

- The Cultists have taken control of a power station. The first team of Jedi will be dispatched here. The concerns are two-fold: they want to stop whoever has taken over the station, and more importantly ensure that the station itself remains undamaged. The Chandrila's need someone to infiltrate the facility and thwart the group's plan.

- Having learned what information the first team could provide them, the second team of Jedi attempt to enter the Tomb and discover what the Cultists are up to, be it by force or infiltration. (The decision of whether to be stealthy or loud will affect the outcome of any thread going forward.)

- The first team of Jedi will deal with enemy reinforcements as they attempt to retake the power station, or blow it up by force. (Survive the waves - affected by previous thread.)

- Finally, the second team of Jedi must either arrest, or defeat the remaining cultists within the tomb, and clear out the entrance to return access to the civilian populace.

5. What do you or your character hope to achieve with this plot? What is the "end-game"?

Learn, interact with others, and perhaps earn minimal reputation. While helping others.

6. Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member? If so, please detail who/what and for what purpose.

None at all.

EMBER CHOSEN ARMOR

The Chosen Armor is a modernized rendition of an ancient battle armor used by the Vahla in times past. The armor has been nicknamed “Bloodstained” by many who know of it, as the metallic surface itself is coated as not to be damaged by the weather. However, as a result, blood is notoriously difficult to remove from the fabric and plating.

The story behind the origin of the armor’s design and it’s designer is something of a folktale. Allegedly, this armor was tailored specifically to the upper caste of the Embers of Vahl religious circles. It was used to ensure that their enforcers and elite where equipped with the best available protection, and that idea inspired the slight redesign and severe upgrade to the historical armor.

LEGALITY

Legal in every system. Though another Vahla and those familiar with their culture and history will be able to identify the design.

INTENT

To provide Vahla with modernized armor that will stand the test of combat in the current era.

ADVANCED TECH
No.

Type and Coverage

Type:Light Armor

  • Torso: Lightweight removable Duraplast plate inserts
  • Upper Arms: Lightweight Duraplast plate shoulder and upper arm guards

Biography
Everyone has weird family members and strange heritage stories. But nobody quite drew the luck like Brae and her family did, historically speaking. Between the various galactic and civil conflicts that had overtaken the Galaxy at large, the small Coven family had become an orphanage of sorts for those who had been abandoned or sought refuge.

As with all other members of the adoptive family, they were considered kin. Brea’s father, Adair, was an orphan who was raised a Coven, and married into one of the sister families in the settlement. Like most of her interconnected, respectable and sociable family on Rhen Var (which ranged from direct blood relatives to distant second cousins once half-removed) Brea learned a trade in her youth. Both she and her father shared a passion for space travel and starships in general, leading to her apprenticeship as a Shipwright on Raxus Secundus.

After having completed her contract and gaining practice and traction as both technician and metalsmith, Brea encountered a number of setbacks and financial difficulties. The debts for her education where larger than the sum of credits she could garner working in her current position in the quadrant. As a result, she left Raxus - ignoring and avoiding her debts - instead using her accumulated funds to travel deeper into the core worlds and start a new life.

Now working as a dock worker and transport pilot in Iziz on Onderon, Brea continues to hone her technical skills and make as many credits as she can, hoping to start her own foray into entrepreneurship and craftsmanship one day. It’s not uncommon for her to be found selling or offering custom services to any being willing to commission her.

Personality and traits
Abrupt, intense, bubbly and charismatic are all words that pop to mind when Brea is involved. Depending on the amount of caf in her system, she may wildly swing between long and rapid bursts of information or Force knows what - to gentle silence and focus.

Brea has been hyperactive since youth, and never really overcame the issue. Although she was half-Vahla (on her mother’s side) she could barely touch the Force - or learn it - because she was never interested enough to try. More practical things always kept her attention, and were far more engaging.

Brea, in contrast to her sudden nature, does not seek thrills in the way many would expect. She does not enjoy the idea of starship races and carbon scoring across her newly minted ships. Nor did she want to end up like some of her fellow colleagues - blown to space dust in some pointless conflict.

She does however have a deep fascination with starships and weapons. Be it the weapons systems, the emplacements, the modified shield arrays... you name it, Brea loves it. Though her attempts are not always successful, she has been known to tinker with weapons from time to time.

Skills and abilities
Brea is something of a cross between a wrench monkey and a tech wizard. Her abilities with technology were noticed and praised early on in her life. Adding that to the fact she enjoyed the creativity aspect, it became a lifelong goal and passion. The result is a young adult who might just know more about your ship and equipment than you do.

It would be most certainly true to say Brea would at least know how to fix it. In tough spots the young shipwright has always proven ingenuity and calculation win the day. Given the right material and time, she could presumably repair most common item, though her speciality remains onboard and navigation systems.

Thanks to her father’s metalsmith knowledge, passed down through shared interests, Brea is also fairly skilled in modifying tools and weapons, but is notoriously unable to slice. The Vahla finds slicing to be both tedious and boring, having ignored the subject completely during her time on Raxus despite her peers interests.
