Asher needed space from Fortress Goal. Much was in flux and the moment after the Jedi's raid on another prison facility. As the Sith Warden, his Mistress Vex would have much to deal with. And, as the ISB was leading an investigation into the matter It left him with more free time then the half-Sephi was accustom.

What do warriors do with such down time? Well as a Padawan, he would train, learn, grow. So he would the very same as a Champion of the Sith.

The half-Sephi found the fortress on Mustafar a fitting place for him to train, and thankfully only a short jump from Belsavis. Waiting for him in a training room reserved only for Sith, a top a black pedestal and guarded by troopers in black armor, was the holocron of Darth Venator. At Asher's ask, Vex had had the artifact transferred from the Sith archives. The Champion changed the destination at the last moment, thus the guards.

The half-Sephi looked to both the guards. "Thankyou for your duty, troopers. Now you may leave." The Champion commanded. The two black clad troopers giving a salute, and retiring from the room. Like not far, but at least out of the room.

One alone with the ancient device, Asher wasted no time. Reaching out with the dark side of the force. Letting it meat the aura of the holoron and slowly unlock it.

The holocron itself had almost no aura. Most of these devices seemed to pulse with the dark side and promises of untold power, but this one was quite the opposite. To most it appeared as a simple and nondescript thing. A holocron, of course, but one that required the user to know what they sought. It was not for the faint of heart.

The device began to whir and hiss as it opened, levitating as the Force flowed freely through it, pulling a portion of the user's mind back from beyond the Force.

It took several moments, but surely as time moved forward, a figure appeared as it opened. Cloaked all in black with a menacing matte mask covering his features.

Even from this small device, it was immediately clear in the Force that as nondescript as the holocron itself was, its creator was anything but. The mask and armor in its day was well known and feared, and for good reason. The man had been the death of billions.

And he said nothing. The gatekeeper offered no greeting and gave no pleasantries, simply stared straight through the man that opened it.

The half-Sephi was nearly taken aback, as the artifact took on a little life of it's own as it opened to the force and the Champion. This being his first time with such a device, he didn't know what to expect. But certainly not this. A pause so long, the fallen Jedi thought he might have broken it.

Suddenly the platform was filled with the presents of a long forgotten Lord. A specter of death, pulled from the force and returned to the land of the living.

The half-Sephi would be lying to himself if he did not admit, the figure did inspire fear. But he pushed that thought away. Standing there a full minute before realizing the the force spirt had nothing to say, or rather, was waiting for Asher.

As Venator's cold merciless eyes continued to bore a hole into him, the Champion finally spoke up. "Dark Lord, Venator. I've come before you to see your knowledge. I wish to learn the path of the Sith Assassin and the forgotten art of Form X."

Venator let out a throaty growl-like sound as Asher spoke. Without regard to time or place, some things remained the same across generations. Among them was that Dark Lords and Emperors weren't people to be taken lightly, and they were often people of few words.

Why? he asked. It wasn't clear why he asked the question, but he also wasn't used to explaining himself to people, and he wasn't about to start just because he was a holocron gatekeeper and an imprint of Venator's mind rather than the actual being himself.

Do you even know who you are? he asked. He knew the man had been a Jedi, he could tell. He'd met enough Jedi and fallen in love with a former-Jedi. He was quite familiar with the sensation.

Asher stood in the glow of the imposing figure a moment. While he had not expected to be questioned in such a manner. Such questions were not uncommon. An ISB officer had recently even come to him with similar questions.

"It's speaks to my goals. I do not seek power or station, likes others do in the Order." He said thinking of those like his Mistress and her apprentice. He scoffed the the images next question. "I know what I am not. I am not a Jedi" Perhaps Asher was unsure of what he was yet. Be he knew he was not a Jedi any more.
