You would be hard-pressed to find a more vile hotbed of criminal, illicit activity than the Outer Rim planet of Mon Gazza. Despite its reputation as a crime-infested backwater, the planet nevertheless is more importantly known for its exceptionally profitable spice mines – second only in the galaxy to Kessel in terms of production. Since the invasion and annexation of Kessel by the Consortium, Mon Gazza has become the de facto capital of the illegal spice, with Syndicate control on the planet growing unchecked.

Located directly on the borders of ISC territory and within its path of expansion, the time has come to liberate Mon Gazza from the control of the Syndicates. While an ISC naval fleet lingers at the edge of the system, advanced planetary defense systems on the surface have prevented a full-scale invasion without sustaining heavy losses. However, a single shuttle should have no difficulty slipping through.

The objective of ISC operatives is simple. Infiltrate the Syndicate stronghold, fight your way through by whatever means necessary, and disable the Mon Gazza’s surface artillery. With the path open for a full-scale invasion, the planet will fall within a matter of hours.

Getting a shuttle through the surface of the planet had been simple enough. However, Livi wasn’t sure going in guns blazing was the best idea. The more they dug up on the planet, the more it became clear that Syndicates had deep roots here. However, this also presented an opportunity to rile up distrust and paranoia.

Livi and Theo were provided speeders to make their way towards the stronghold in question. She was presently in ISC armor, but she was beginning to question the use of that just now. She looked over at Theo, a man she hadn’t worked with before.

“I think our best bet may be to pose as workers,” She explained, “First day on the job, we could be called in to do some routine maintenance. And we just so happen to accidentally switch off the shields,” It sounded far easier than it would be, but Livi’s specialties were more aligned to stealth than charging in like the cavalry.

Naturally, this meant they had to procure some clothing that allowed them to blend in. They had to be very convincing as maintenance workers. If it all worked out, they would waltz right in, complete the objective and come back out while chaos ensued.

Spice spice spice - sometimes it seemed like he only crawled out of bed in the morning to be told he was going to secure another spice den or trafficking operation. Hells, he had been on the ground for Kessel even if it had turned out to be, largely, rather dull in the grand scheme of things.

Working with a new partner was not uncommon either though he had been given a bit of a warning about Livi by someone higher up. The message said it was from a secretary of the ISC but he didn't really believe that. Either way, he had been warned that she could be temperamental but, well, who wasn't in this line of work?

"Sneaking in sounds like the better option, yeah."
he agreed, wincing ever so slightly as he looked down at himself, "Might have to follow your lead on that - I'm not too experienced at keeping a low profile."

Most of his raids were about kicking doors in but he could work with this. With the shuttle landed and hidden off the beaten track, the speeders were their best best on how to actually insert themselves so he busied himself pulling them out of the cargo hold of the shuttle.

"You know much about slicing? If not we're going to need access to the lower levels to sabotage it mechanically instead."

He had two demolition charges so he passed one to Livi to keep hold of during their advance.

“Don’t know anything about slicing, I’m afraid,” Livi admitted. She took off the portion of her armor that had the ISC logo on it, leaving the rest. Livi joined in on helping take out the speeders, hopping onto one after she took the demo charges.

“I’m Livi by the way,” She said, though a little awkwardly. She wasn’t oblivious to what her profile usually said. She had a history of murder upon first arriving at a refugee camp. Few Rangers wanted to work with her, and that normally suited her fine. Livi would feel out if he was going to be annoying about this or just take it in stride.

As they pulled up near the stronghold, Livi could tell right away there was a segment of it dedicated to spice production. Livi put that thought in her mind for now, taking in sight of some of the people walking out and about. Nothing here looked official. There were no uniforms, no structure, nothing. It was a miracle they even had any surface artillery.

Livi looked over at Theo, “Let’s find our way down and just take everything offline,” She said as she parked the speeder. She could spot two individuals outside that looked exceptionally bored. Livi looked around – no one else was here and clearly they didn’t have the foresight to think to get security cameras outside.

“You take the left guy and I take right?” She asked as she slowly began to approach them. From the sounds of it, the two were having a very detailed discussion about how one of them had a foot infection. Livi grimaced, “Um, how about I take left and you take right..”

No slicing?

Well breaking mechanical parts was typically easier anyway and, if they needed it, they had some explosives with them that would do their level best to kark up the day of everyone not taking an ISC paycheck at the end of the day. It was with regret that he filed off the ISC markings to make it look like he had stolen the armour he currently wore, though while he was doing so with his helmet he was free to give Livi a slightly nervous smile.

"Ah, sorry, rude of me."
he muttered, cheeks flushing ever so slightly, "I'm Theo - good to meet you, heard a lot about you. Um... all good things?"

... why did he make that last part sound like a question? Idiot.

Thankfully the rest of the trip to the compound he didn't make a tit out of himself because, for the last leg of the trip, he didn't speak aloud. Some days it felt like it was the only way for him to avoid making an ass of himself. Still, he parked up and hid the speeder as best as he could quickly, making sure he had his weapons at the ready. He followed Livi's lead mainly because she knew what she was doing at stealth.

Though when it came to the two guards? He heard them too.

Theo stared at her blankly for a second before sighing.

"Yeah alright I'll take the manky foot guy..."

Drawing one of his stun batons, Theo took a deep breath and waited for the best time to strike. Using a blaster would be loud and bright so taking them down with melee was the best bet. The guard he was going to be taken out literally reached down to tug off his boot to show his colleague the foot infection.

Best time was when they were off-balance... fuck.

Theo moved up behind the man currently hopping on one foot and brought the stun baton up into the small of his back for a quick stun before wrapping his baton around the man's throat from behind to bring him down to the ground in a choke for good measure. However getting closer to the ground brought him closer to foot.

"By Emryc-Thornes-Pecs, it's Oozing for crying out loud..."

Livi crept up with her own baton, giving Theo a look before she moved in and struck from the side, landing a solid blow on the temple. She almost toppled over as the man was heavier than he looked. Livi quickly dragged him around the side of the building to swap out the clothing. She looked up when she could all but smell the infection, gagging at the sight of it.

“That’s… ugh! No, don’t put on his boot. You’ll just go in mismatched,” She covered her mouth as she swapped out some of the armor. Livi grabbed the access card off the guy she whacked, shuffling around towards the maintenance entrance of the building. Livi swiped the card and was hopeful when a beep resounded to open the door into the stronghold.

“Okay..okay.. Act cool,” She muttered. The coast was clear for now, but she recalled Theo’s quip from earlier, “Don’t tell me you’re in that stupid Thorne fanclub,” She said moodily, “I don’t see the big deal.”

Livi almost crouched behind a stack of crates when she saw others approaching. However, she remembered she was supposed to be here. One of the other workers inside the stronghold paused and stared at them.

“Why aren’t you patrolling outside?”

She almost went to talk but realized that the person she downed was a man and a female voice would certainly rouse suspicion. Livi looked at Theo, internally panicking and hoping he had some bullshit answer to give.

Oh by the gods he had no intention of going anywhere near the boots of the scoundrel he had managed to take down - he could smell it from here and he wanted no part of it. Taking a deep breath, Theo closed his eyes and started stripping the man out of the rest of his clothes and armour, doing his best to make sure he didn't go anywhere near either of his shoes. If the man had an infection in one foot, he wasn't willing to bet he wouldn't in the other too.

"I'm just going to keep my current boots - think the man was at least smart enough to swap shoes regularly?"

He doubted it but he wasn't putting his foot in that just for the chance at extra stealth.

Theo hid the body quickly, leaving it stripped from the feet up away from where he had choked him out. With Theo now mostly dressed in the new armour, he hoped that no one would look down and notice his boots were noticeably newer. He tutted once as they walked, very used to his co-workers looking down on his participation with the fanclub.

"No accounting for taste I suppose." he quipped back, defending his choice, "It's not at all like it is on the holonet... we're mostly just like-minded people who enjoy keeping an eye on the Presidents life. You know, for when they inevitably turn his life into a holodrama film."

The studios were arguing for the rights already but Theo, personally, thought that they were going to mess it up when it came to casting. There was talk about that one hutt-ball player playing Emryc and he just couldn't see it.

Livi's female voice would be bad.

Theo's own voice, however, was also eloquent and cultured in a way that the guard's had not been - still not as bad as asking the worker to believe in a sudden and spontaneous sex change. He just needed to think like a low-life... what would a low-life with poor foot hygiene say?

"Need more foot cream." he grunted awkwardly, "Need help getting the shoe off these days..."

The worker's nose scrunched up and they shook their head.

"TMI, mate... TMI..."
